Just the other day, I wrote a short review on FML. I still very much enjoy reading up on the interesting comments people write about their lives. After writing the review, I received a tip from a reader named Damian. He mentioned a site called, “What a Secret.”

I have to admit, it is a very interesting site. A very interesting site indeed!

Animals turn me on more than women. I need help.

(Click here to see original post.)

HAHAHA! sorry… I couldn’t help myself. That’s screwed up don’t you think! At least this person knows he needs help.

Again, I want to thank Damian for bringing this site to my attention. If anyone else has anymore cool and interesting sites, just leave a comment and I’ll be sure to check it out.

Whether you have to listen to them at work or on your personal time, voicemail recordings can consume your time. Sometimes, it can be especially annoying if you call the same person over and over again. For example, let’s say you call your best buddy every day. (I personally don’t do that, but let’s just say you two are that close.) Your buddy decided one day that he would record a nice long recording:

“Hi, you’ve reached (Name here)! I am unable to get to the phone right now, but I would like to get back to you as soon as possible. So, please leave me a detail message with your name, phone number, and the best time to get back to you. Thank you!”

Okay, that took me approximately 13 second to read out load. If you had to listen to that every day, you’d waste 4745 seconds of your life every year. How much is 4745 seconds? Well, it’s about 79 minutes or 1.3 hours. That’s a lot of time listening to your buddy say the same thing.

If you’re like most people I know, that can be annoying. Of course, I do know a friend of mine who likes to “spaz out.” In that case, this could just be another reason to spaz out…

Anyways, wouldn’t it be nice and even more efficient to skip the recording and leave your message?

Where there is a will, there’s a way!

The cell phone carriers have already thought of it. For some, you may already know how, but for those who don’t, I’ve put together a list below. The list shows different major cell phone carriers and the button to press to skip straight to the beep.

1) Verizon: (*)

2) Sprint: (1)

3) Cingular: (7)

4) T-mobile: (#)

I’m sure other carriers offer the same service. If you know the buttons to skip on other services, please comment below. I will gladly add it to the list.

Side Note:

If your buddy left a nice recording like the one above, let him know how to skip recordings too. Then kindly recommend your buddy add, “To skip this recording press (Enter button from above here),” right before the normal recording. That way, all those other people who call will be able to skip the recording too. Share the love people!

It would look something like this:

“To skip this recording press (Enter button from above here). Hi, you’ve reached (Name here)! I am unable to get to the phone right now, but I would like to get back to you as soon as possible. So, please leave me a detail message with your name, phone number, and the best time to get back to you. Thank you!”

Sometimes you just need get something off your chest. Sometimes you need to make yourself feel better. Other times, you just need a laugh. Whatever the reason, FMyLife is just one of those sites. Its a site where people can come together and share short stories about how their life sucks right now.

Don’t worry, people don’t use to much fowl language. Of course, I can’t recommend the site to kids. However, adults may end up dropping to their knees in laughter.

Well, the New Year is now here. It’s time to start making this a good one. Many people tend to have New Year’s Resolutions. What’s yours?

I personally, have chosen three New Year’s Resolutions for myself. The three resolutions are:

1) No Soda

(I used to be a hardcore athlete and I disliked soda because of its carbonation. In the past year, I drink more of it and as a result I have felt less fit as the days have gone by. Now, I’m going to convince myself to stay away once again. )

2) Stick to Fitness Regimen

(The past year I had a wild time sticking to a fitness regimen. In an attempt to stick to one, my friends and I have come up with a competition. It’s time I give them something to compete with. )

3) Reduce Candy Intake

(The reasons are obvious. Too much is a bad thing. )

The above are all simple resolutions that I believe I can achieve. The point of making them simple is so that I can complete them. By keeping them short I will be able to remember them and therefore act upon them.

Here are some tips to consider that may help you succeed in sticking to your New Year’s Resolution(s).

First, put a list of your resolutions everywhere. By doing so, you will remember them every day.

1) Put them on your mirror

2) Put a picture of your resolutions on your cell phone wallpaper

3) Put them on your front door

4) Put them on your desktop wallpaper

Second, make a plan. You need to have a plan to stick too. Without a plan, you’re flying blindly. So, make one and stick to it! Don’t let anything stop you from doing your best.

It may help to have a friend involved in helping you stick to the plan. As I mentioned above, my friends and I have agreed to compete in a fitness competition. Knowing that eventually I will have to compete, so I will prepare. This forces me to get fit and stick to a fitness regimen.

So what can you do? Well, have a friend check up on you. Or perhaps, check up on each other and show approval when you two achieve your goal of sticking to the plan. You’d be surprised how much people seek social approval.

Third, think about them! It is important that you think about your resolutions. Even if you put them everywhere, it may not even help. Why? Well, eventually you will get use to the lists being where you put them. Once you are use to the lists being there, you’ll unconsciously learn to block it out. When that happens, you begin to forget. Then, the next thing you know you’ve eaten a foot long Hersey’s candy bar. Seriously, it could happen. Especially for me, I have one sitting in the fridge right now.

Forth, love what you’ve done. If you’ve managed to dodge pit falls and hold up your goal, also called your New Year’s Resolution, reward yourself! Okay, so how might you do that? Well, it all depends. I personally, reward myself mentally. I’ll daydream and think about how people might admire my dedication to stick to the plan. Or admire my passion to do the right thing. It all depends on who you want to be in the end. So, think of a reward and give it to yourself.

What am I talking about? I’m talking about your keyboard. You need to protect it!

I protect my keyboard with a plastic keyboard cover that I ordered through Toshiba. Those plastic keyboard covers aren’t too cheap, but they are very helpful. In fact, when I take the cover off of the keyboard, my keys are as good as new!

While reading my RSS feeds I found something that could be very useful to budget computer users like myself. What I found were the directions for a homemade keyboard cover. Its purpose is to cover your desktop computer keyboard when you’re not using it. To make it you need 2 Sheets of 11×17 papers, a stapler with staples, scissors, and scotch tape.

Follow this link for the steps to make it:

Last night, the famous Wayne Hoffman preformed at a school function at the UNLV. Simply said, the show was very amazing. Hoffman is a mentalist and illusionist. He has dedicated much of his life studying the how people think.

Watch his bio to learn more:

The above video is the same video he presented at the show.

Now, keep in mind, he never interviewed or talked to anyone before the show. In fact, the people he used didn’t know what he could do. They were astonished with his knowledge and performance that they experienced firsthand.

Probably the most astonishing performance was when he read the minds of people in the crowd. Everyone was to think of a sentimental item, person, or number. Once we thought of it, we were to write it down or put it in text on our phone. When the crowd was ready, we were told to stare at what we had written. We were to think of it or picture it in our mind.

Suddenly he started to call out a subject of what he was getting. He got just about all of the subjects correctly and names correctly for that matter. One of participants in the audience was thinking of her pet dog. He knew the dog died and that there were two dogs that she owned. He told her to think of only one. Then he asked her, “Was the dog’s name DJ?”

As you can imagine, she leaned forward in her seat and let out a yelping, “Yes!” Everyone in the crowd couldn’t believe it. The way he described it was unimaginable.

Now, the one he didn’t get right was because someone else was thinking of it. For instance, a guy was thinking of the movie “Starwars” and Hoffman tried to get a “mental signal” from him in order to get those words. However, the girl sitting four seats away was thinking of “Harry Potter.” So because he got two mental signals, he was slightly confused. He said, “Harry Potter” and the person in the audience said, “No.” With confidence he knew that someone else was thinking it and asked the crowd who it was. The girl thinking Harry potter screamed, covered her mouth, brought her knees to her chest, and yelped, “Me!”

Wayne Hoffman was simply amazing last night. You should visit his site when you get the chance. There are videos and links below this article that might interest you too. Check it out, you won’t regret it!

I first discovered SwagBucks about a year back in an article published in my girlfriend’s mother’s women’s magazine. (I was in some kind of read as much magazines as you could phase.) It was a short article which just mentioned how SwagBucks will give you prizes for doing what you are already doing online.

For instance, SwagBucks has many different ways for you to earn “web bucks:”

Search the Web and earn

Invite a friend and earn

Promote and earn

Buy online and earn

Enter a promotion code and earn

Trade in a cell phone or game and earn

Promote and Earn SwagBucks

Eventually, after earning so many “web bucks” or SwagBucks you could trade them in for prizes: apparel, books, electronics, magazines, gift cards, and more!

SwagBucks Store

The company has made it so easy to earn SwagBucks. For example, I use Firefox and Firefox allows you to install different search engines in your search box. So, as smart as those SwagBucks people are, they created one for you and me to install. Now, instead of using Google to search everything, I use SwagBucks. After all, SwagBucks uses Google search anyway and in a sense you’re getting the same results. I say, “In a sense” because SwagBucks customized their Google search to fit their needs.

That being said, SwagBucks caught my attention again with their release of their Facebuck application. What it is is an application that combines SwagBucks and Facebook. Basically, it allows you to notify your friends when you win SwagBucks and invite them to join SwagBucks. When the application notifies your friends and family, it posts a link for them to sign up too. That link is your own personal referral link.

SwagBucks Facebook Notification

This makes it a whole lot easier for you to earn more SwagBucks for yourself. When you invite someone, if they earn a SwagBuck for searching, you do too.

SwagBucks and Facebook Connection

Connection with Facebook

So to get started, if you don’t already have a SwagBucks account, I suggest you go ahead and signup for one. After all, it’s absolutely free! Then you can add a search engine to your browser or use the SwagBucks’ site directly to search. If you already do have one, I suggest setting up the Facebook application and earn even more.

While writing this article my mom (who is visiting my place) just asked what SwagBucks was. I didn’t even have to recommend her. It was posted on my Facebook when I searched and earned 2 SwagBucks. That just proves that the Facebook application made my life a whole lot easier. Now I can focus more on the prize then the recommendations.

“Facebook Lite is a faster, simpler way to keep in touch with your friends. If you like it, you may choose to use it instead of the regular Facebook. We still have work to do before it’s done, but we’d love to get your feedback on what we’ve built so far.” – Facebook

Simply put, Facebook lite is a simpler version of Facebook. It also has a very user friendly interface:

A clean front page with friend updates

A clean inbox page

A simplistic view of the upcoming events

A Quick loading popup chat

A humble “People You May Know” area

It’s idle for those with slow connections.

I particularly enjoy Facebook lite because I only use Facebook to keep in touch with my friends and family. I personally don’t have the time to indulge in all those third-party apps such as Farmville. Farmville is “the” most popular app amongst my friends and family but I just don’t have the time for it. Sorry guys if you’re reading this.

So if you just want to keep it simple, Facebook is there for you. As was mentioned in the quote above, feel to give them feedback.

Meeting new people is a great way to make friends. It’s also a great way to experience new things. As an exchange student from Hawaii, I learned to make myself more approachable. I wanted to experience new things that aren’t found on Hawaii. I knew that one channel to do this would be, meeting new people. In other words, I’d have to socialize with people from a different culture. People I had never met before.

The friendlier you seem to people, the more approachable you are. Below are a few simple tips I used to make myself seem more approachable. These are tips that can be used right away.

Smile – Makes you seem friendly

Make Eye Contact – Shows confidence

Put your arms to your side (Don’t cross your arms.)

Stand and walk confidently (don’t look at the ground)

Don’t be scared to meet someone with a different culture

Groom yourself (great idea for meeting women)

Cut your hair

Shave

Brush your teeth

Shower

Wear clean clothes

You may have already known these tips but have you used them lately? If you have, that’s good! If not, I recommend trying it out for a week and seeing where that takes you.

There are countless ideas that get published on the internet. Many of those ideas are extremely interesting. For example, Yourpersonality.net is the site of subject today. On this webpage, there are many different personality quizzes that anyone can take. I for one chose two quizzes. The first was called, “Close Relationships Questionnaire [Attachment Style Questionnaire].” The second quiz was called, “Your Attachment Hierarchy.” After completing the two personality quizzes and examining the results, I would have to completely agree with the statements that were concluded.

First of all, let’s examine what the Close Relationships Questionnaire [Attachment Style Questionnaire] was looking into. This quiz was used to determine two aspects of how people look at relationships. The two aspects are attachment-related anxiety and attachment-related avoidance.

Now, attachment-related anxiety refers to whether or not people worry or don’t worry about being loved by their partners and the fear of rejection. That means, if a person has high levels of attachment-related anxiety, that person worries whether their partner really loves them and fears rejection from that partner. It is the opposite for those with low levels.

Used in conjunction with attachment-related anxiety is attachment-related avoidance. People that have high levels of attachment-related avoidance often are less likely to interact with others. In other words, these people are shy. Again, the results are visa versa for people with low levels of attachment-related avoidance.

Secondly, let’s examine what the Your Attachment Hierarchy quiz was looking into. It is a quiz that was used to determine the hierarchy of people I have a close bond with. In other words, this simple quiz determines who my “go to” person is from first choice to fourth choice.

Now that we know what the two tests are about, it’s time to evaluate the results. In my opinion, the results from both quizzes were just about accurate. I’m sure that if I took the test again to verify my results, I would most likely get the same thing conclusion.

The first quiz, Close Relationships Questionnaire, concluded that I had a low 1.6 attachment-related anxiety score and a low 2.0 attachment-related avoidance score. These scores are based on a scale from 1 to 7 (seven being high). Therefore, the quiz concluded that I’m a person with a secure personality in this area.

I definitely agree with that statement. Towards the end of my high school career I begin volunteering my services in the student body government and opening my eyes to new sports. With the help of my girl friend on my side and that fact that I grew up in a family that made me independent, I felt unstoppable. This feeling of wanting to expand my view and meet new people only grew larger as years of college went by. I even took a speech class that helps me to communicate with new people. Consequently, I love opening up to people and I don’t worry about being rejected or not love.

The results from the second quiz were also right on the dot. The quiz asked for four people that were close to me. For confidentiality reasons, I put John (my father), Vivian (my mother), Des (my girl friend), and Enj (my sister) in the candidate text boxes. After completing the short quiz it concluded a pyramid of my attachment figures. The results were in this order: (1) Des, (2) Enj, (3) Vivian, and (4) John. I believe, without a shadow of a doubt, that this is the order of who I would go to for help. For instance, I live with my girl friend and it’s only obvious I would be more attached to her. Furthermore, I haven’t spoken to my father in over a year.

In conclusion, these quizzes were a great educational experience in which, I without a doubt, agree with. After analyzing the data, my personality was only clearer to me.

To discover more about yourself, you should definitely try these quizzes out. Besides the two quizzes mentioned above, there are many more you can take at: http://yourpersonality.net
