999 Diet - interval base weight loss program

The 999 diet is out, finally, check it out, tones of new juice recipes, flavors and combinations to check, I really dig their ‘green’ juices. seems like a lot of thought went into this. I also love their idea of juice interval, taking days on and off, really smart. going to be experimenting with it for a while.

Earl Gray Lemonade

many times we are facing the unavoidable question Lemonade VS. Ice Tea, well who said that you need to compromise, here is an elegant solution, lemonade recipe rooted on Earl Gray ice tea (decaffeinate version in my case). I am telling you the gods of freshness have been listening to my prayers, this is a live proof!

Lemonade Recipe

3 lemons
1 Earl Gray tea bag
2 cups water
agave nectar

Method:

Make your Earl Gray tea, set a side and chill it for a few hours (or use ice)

Juice your lemonade, mix the ice tea, sweeten and drink!

Take II:

This is obliviously becoming another instant classic lemonade, but if you already feel ready to take it to the next level, a splash of your favorite Bourbon would do an excellent job here.

Grapefruit Cinnamon Clove & Cardamom Lemonade

The GCCC Lemonade is a lemonade recipe inspire by chai tea, switching the water used in traditional lemonade recipes with water flavored and spiced, this result with very unique and sharp flavor lemonade, the mix between the cinnamon and the grapefruit is one that would make a strong impact on any lemonade, but specially here. I already have a million variation that I can see doing on this recipe, but here is the one I used this time.

Lemonade Recipe

3 lemons
1 grapefruit
2 cloves
1 cardamon
3 cinnamon sticks
2 cup water
agave nectar

Method

Step I:

place 2 cups of water in a small pan, add the cinnamon sticks, clove and cardamon, bring to boil, turn off the heat and chill for a few hours.

Step II:

Squeeze your lemons, mix with the lemonade base from step I, sweeten and drink!

Watermelon Fennel Lemonade

very delicious take on a lemonade, switching the water part of traditional lemonade with watermelon juice and a hint of fennel. this is a most unique lemonade recipe, I specially love how naturally sweet it is even in a lemonade setting.

Juice Recipe

3 lemons
1/8 watermelon
1/2 fennel
1 cups water

Method:

Juice, mix and drink

Note:

a few liqueurs would go very nicely with this juice,  Bourbon would be my first choice, though Rum would great too.

so I wanted to have a shot of juice, just take the my breville juicer – juice fountain elite, and juice a shot of apple juice, well – it seems that there is a good reason why they design team at breville choose to go with the pitcher rather than the shoot glass. if you seems to find the right way to juice it strait to the glass, let me know.

Kiwi fruit Peach Nectarine Cucumber & Aloe Vera Ice Tea

one of my favorite restaurant in NY – PUBLIC serves bourbon apricot ice tea, this is a very nice drink and I though of creating my own take on it, so here it how it goes, since I am into juice, and wanted to make it more flavor dominated version I decided to add a few key ingredients like Kiwi fruit and cucumber, than things just got out of control so I added the nectarine and aloe vera, the result is far from basic, but I assure you the refreshment.

Juice Nutritional Benefit

Kiwi Fruit – Great antioxidant and most beneficial to reduce 36% the risk of developing an eye-related disease called ARMD (the primary cause of vision impairment in adults), if compared to people who only consume 1.5 servings of fruit per day.

Peach – Ideal for weight lose and maintaining healthy diet, rich in Vitamin C, Dietary Fiber, Vitamin A, Niacin and Potassium.

Nectarine -  Similar to peach.

Cucumber – Great for bone and nail building, rich in Silica minerals and very helpful in reducing acidity in the body.

Aloe Vera – Much been said about the external use of aloe vera, well it all seems to be as good for the inside, special in regard to diabetes and elevated blood lipids.

Honeydew Melon Apple Pear Lemon & Mint Juice

a new take on the traditional pineapple apple mint juice I wanted to see how it would work with Honeydew melon juice rather than pineapple, they both got a thick layer of sweetness and tropical flavor so there is no reason why it should not work I thought, and indeed this is a very refreshing version of the already ultimate refreshing juice recipe, I guess I’ll have to work harder to take it to the next level from here.

Juice Nutritional Benefits

Honeydew Melon – Low in Sodium, and very low in Saturated Fat and Cholesterol. It is also a good source of Vitamin B6, Folate and Potassium, and a very good source of Vitamin C.

Apple – you already know the trick, Apples fill you up with out filling you up, since our bodies can not digest the fiber in them.

Pear – Rich in vitamin C and Sodium.

Mint – Great in fighting bacteria and keeping our mouth hygiene. and also a great source of flavor!

whenever I can over the weekend I like to take a bike trip to Red Hook which usually ends at Steve’s key lime Pie a place that became a destination for the best key lime pie in NY, though I go for a full sugar boost and get the Swingle, which as I was seating next to my bike a group of unexpected tourist walked by asking ‘so how is it?’ and of course the answer was ‘unbelievable’ which it is. but the real reason that I am writing this post is to honor the key lime lemonade initiative, I very rarely have key lime lemonade and as I was proven by Steve this is a very special juice, and the one served at Steve’s key lime Pie is probably the best one around, but I am not discouraged, a home made take is coming soon, here is a promises. but first I would have to find out does Steve uses a Citrus Press or a Lime Squeeze?
