2013 Headshot Promo — Professionals MONTH

For the past several years, I have run a special promotion for professional headshots — theatrical, corporate, fundraisers, congressional wives, mom’s with small businesses, healthcare professionals, rock and rollers for CD covers….for real. All types. I totally, madly LOVE meeting folks with different strokes. It’s so interesting to chat it up while I shoot away.

I have always run this promo for a week or two but b/c of the demand, have decided to do this for 1 month! So all of February will be PROFESSIONALs MONTH!

My rate is $275 (regularly $400) for a 20-30 min mini session. This includes 3-4 wardrobe changes for different looks, as well as 7 edited, fully retouched images.

The Olivia Act – a response from the Newtown, CT shootings

In light of the Sandy Hook tragedy, and in response to this amazing concept brought about by a photographer in CT, I’m on board to participate.

The Olivia Act, named after one of the children killed in Newtown, was started by a photographer who wishes to be anonymous. Olivia’s family had family pictures taken a short time before she was killed. Those pictures are precious and now priceless to them. Upon hearing this, this photographer was moved to give away a 30 minute family photo shoot and has challenged other photographers to do the same. We go about our daily lives and sometimes we don’t take the time or have the resources to have family photos taken.

I will be taking nominations for a family who you think would appreciate this gift. The 30 minute session will take place sometime after the New Year and will be completely FREE to the family being nominated. Please inbox or e-mail their name, contact information and a brief summary of why you chose them to julia@juliamacinnisphotography.com. Please put “THE OLIVIA ACT NOMINATION” in the subject line. Please do not post their information here. I will take nominations between Jan 1 and Jan 15, 2013. The winner will be chosen and contacted on January 31, 2013. Please share this status. Thank you. ♥

I photographed these 2 girls in the summer of 2011 and since then they have welcomed little brother master “K”. I went to their home to photograph them for a different type of session — no park, no trees, just inside their awesome home with great color, furniture and light! Loved it!

I have had a slew of Senior Sessions the past couple of weeks as everyone is trying to get it in before school starts. I have had a absolute blast shooting them and most have been from St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes schools which is new for me. Claire is a big time Theatre gal and was pure delight photographing as you can see.

Parasailing in Siesta Key, FL

Last month our family took an interesting vacation in Siesta Key, FL — outside Sarasota. Interesting b/c the moment we arrived, we were greeted with gusting winds and downpours thanks to Tropical Storm Debby — with Sarasota virtually a direct hit. This last nearly 3 1/2 days. Pounding rains and winds on our 11th floor condo facing the Gulf. Read: 40-50 towels later, we were still mopping up the water into the condo. In any event, we were blessed with 2 1/2 great days at the end of our week one which included a luscious few hours parasailing. Sadly, I didn’t take my good camera but did pay the parasailing folks for photos which is what some of these are — but also had Jack’s little PNS. Funny enough, my mom took photos from our beach spot as our boat did a turn of us right in front of her.
