I just had to share these "lovely little lies", designed by graphic designer LAUREN HOM. I'm such a fan of illustrative text and only wish I could be good at it! I learned a lot about Lauren's process as to how she goes from a hand-drawn type to a polished design from this TUTORIAL.

HEY, NICE PACKAGE: SCRABBLE 2.0

Some would consider me to not be very enthusiastic for playing board games. HOWEVER, I do appreciate a nice package design. ANDREW CLIFFORD CAPENER has done just that with revamping the traditional SCRABBLE BOARD GAME. The game comes with a beautiful walnut storage case and tiles. The tiles display various typefaces and sit upon classy metal tile racks. His purpose of this project was to revive an old, but loved game and to excite people about typography! I'll play this game any day-and most likely let you win! ;-)

I am currently fascinated with black, white, and a touch of yellow. Can you tell? I saw an obvious comparison between these two. Julie Digs Design is BACK folks! I apologize for the absence, I let my blog slip by the way side in 2012, but this year I am back to updating the ol' blog and officially launching my FREELANCE BUSINESS, Julie Digs Design.

I have re-branded myself to be a full-service design studio creating print and web design collateral for individuals to large companies, and I am welcoming new clients. I'm super stoked to give this a go and see what happens! My hopes are that this blog will be a sounding board for anything I am working on creatively as well as anything I find inspiring.

To start this blog off appropriately, let's have a year in review - shall we?

This is the first and only COOKBOOK that you can read, cook, and then EAT! Packaged as a classic lasagna recipe, the pasta "book" can be opened, filled with ingredients, and then cooked. It looks so gooood too!

I was recently inspired by THESE awesome moodboards, so I thought that I would gather pretty images from my PINTEREST and create my own! The theme is spring and the initial image was the French poster which inspired the rest of the images & colors. It was really fun to make - stay tuned for more!

Check this out! The Wallbanger wall-mounted bar by Urbancase mounts to your wall and can be used as a bar or serving surface. It contains ample room for a selection of liquor, storage for glasses, and bar-tending utensils. And fun fact: The Wallbanger is made from recycled milk jugs, 256 to be exact!

Great poster design done by VAHALLA STUDIOS for season two of PORTLANDIA. This witty & quirky show features a comedy collaboration between Fred Armisen (SNL) & Carrie Brownstein (Wild Flag, Sleater-Kinney). The show has a variety of well-known guests in each episode, such as Sarah McLachlan and Eddie Vedder. It's one of my current favorites and you can catch the first season streaming on Netflix!
