Hi everyone!

I have loved having this photography blog but for the time being I won’t be updating it anymore. I plan to post all my photography over at my main blog, Soldier’s Wife, Crazy Life. It will just be much easier for me that way. I am not sure how long I will do this but for now it is what I need to do. Thanks

I honestly never liked Spring much until we moved out of CA to places with cold winters and snow. Now I love it. I love seeing everything bloom. It is such a pretty time of year!

Something about brick walls

Sometimes I see something and the color just calls to me to take its picture, especially in the Spring and Fall!

Different Aperture, Different Results

Here are four pictures I took with different aperture settings or as we like to say, f-stops. 2.8, 4.0, 11 and 19. Can you tell the difference in what is in focus and what isn’t?

The bigger the f-stop number is, the more in focus everything is…at least that is how I think of it when trying to take a picture. I always ask myself what I want out of the photo. Do I want everything in focus or do I want a nice bokeh look? This is called your depth of field. If I am taking pictures of 1 person, I usually try to take them with a 2.8 f-stop, or wide open, with my 85mm 1.8 lens I would put it on 1.8. If there is more than one person I might go with a 4.0 or a little higher depending on the location.

Why not try this yourself? Find something to photograph and take a few different pictures with different f-stops. Then you can compare and see for yourself how to create different looks in photography.

Vienna, A lovely city in Austria

Vienna is a lovely city! It is easy to get around if you know what you are doing. I didn’t know what I was doing but I was with someone who did so we had a lot of fun. We spent the whole day there. We got to see a lot of the city and ended the day with dinner near all the fun rides for the kids.

German Train Station

Three years ago I took my 4 and 2-year-old boys on a train trip from Germany to Austria. We went to go visit a friend of mind who was teaching English there. She is now married to an Austrian and living there semi-permanently. I love the Train system in Europe. It works well. I wish we had that here in the US.

It can be fun to take pictures of the stuff you love to eat. These types of candies work well since they are so colorful.
