There is some evidence that, in addition to being a writing system, runeshistorically served purposes of magic. An erilaz appears to have been a person versed in runes, including their magic applications.

In early modern and modern times, related folklore and superstition is recorded in the form of the Icelandic magical staves. In the early 20th century, Germanic mysticism coins new forms of "runic magic", some of which were continued or developed further by contemporary adherents of Germanic Neopaganism. Modern systems of runic divination are based on Hermeticism, classicalOccultism, and the I Ching.

In Classical Antiquity, an oracle was a person or agency considered to interface wise counsel or prophetic predictions or precognition of the future, inspired by the gods. As such it is a form of divination.

Few more of my collections. I recently sold most of the tarot cards I posted on my blog to a lady who herself is a big collector. Aside from purchasing my collection, she is also wanting to avail of my services of tarot reading.

Finally after sometime in my safe keeping, I am able to let go and get new keepers of these tarot cards. I got also curious why the sudden interest of many people about tarot cards. So when I asked some of the purchasers I learned that they want to give tarot card as gift to their friends who are doing tarot reading and were able to read them satisfactorily.

The tarot card/deck is a way for them to say thank you. Some have just awakened and realized a new found interest in learning the tarot card themselves. So in their course of finding what suits them best they are exploring different kinds of tarot cards and decks.

I am posting here a few more of my remaining tarot cards and I am proud to say that these cards were published in Europe/US. So the quality is good and they are brand new. Most of the cards that are coming out now are published in China. I observed the paper is not like its European counterpart, thicker and more clearer and nicer printing.

Why I advise for beginner and even non-beginner to purchase brand new tarot cards and deck?

It is all about energy. It is good to make use of a card that you are unleashing its power and energy for the first time and not some second hand tarot cards that you do not know whose energy handled them first and who the kind of people it was used for. So I highly recommend to give as gift only brand new tarot card deck/book or even for the card or deck that your will use for yoour own.

Just experiment and try using a second hand and brand new and tell me also your experience.

Why use Original Rider-Waite

A lot of query are from beginners on what tarot card to use. So for beginners I suggest that you get the "classics" of all Tarot Cards - The Original Rider-Waite once you mastered this card it will be easy to learn the nuances of other tarot cards and and then you can identify which other cards resonate to your ability and skills of reading, the card that will be meant for you. So let The Original Rider-Waite be your discovery card, that will definitely provide you with the necessary background and basic skills of learning the tarot.

Aside from getting to know each of the individual cards - Major Arcana-22 cards, Minor Arcana-56 cards you also get to familiarize yourself with the different kind of spread but in my experience I have my own style of spread based on the Celtic spread (10 cards) but I made my own version using 15 cards (the details of course I will not reveal here - it is my trade secret that distinguishes me from other readers. Please note that again it is not "hula" but my approach is an accurate way of interpreting and reading the tarot cards based on long time experience and psychic abilities as well.) And if the seeker would ask some questions, the seeker will be asked to draw 4 cards for each particular question. Then still if the seeker would want to verify and confirm those concerns I can also do an I-ching (Chinese oracle) as part of my reading package.

The last few months I have sold several of my tarot decks that I have owned and had a hard time letting go. Well I have kept them for sometime and became part of my collections. With those calls, text messages and emails I would like to share some of those information and answers that I have given so that I can bring future query to this site.

Question: What is the best tarot card/deck for beginners?
I have biased towards The Original Rider-Waite, it is a card/deck that resonates to me personally. It is the card/deck that I also suggests to those who are interested to read as a hobby or earn from reading. So for beginner I suggest the original Rider-Waite as a starter.

But for some of my friends some other cards/deck resonates to them better aside from the Original Rider-Waite that they used as a beginner (well some even used the regular playing cards/baraha to learn reading). Some cards resonates to the reader's personality, skills and spirituality. So it depends on their preference and skills at interpreting the message of the cards.

For some beginners they would discover their knack at reading cards as a natural skills, although others would learn or develop it through constant practice and reading cards ( and also literal reading of books about tarot cards as well).

Although palmistry is a skill that is developed but for some people they are gifted with an innate talent of seeing through the palm and feeling the pulse of the person. Long time ago in China the practice of determining the pulse is not only what western medicine does of counting the pulse rate but ancient doctors of the East and some would be able to sense your illness just by checking your palm.

Many books have been written and continue to be published about palmistry. But indeed only few are gifted to read the lines of the palm properly and to foretell the past, present and future of the person. But again I believe the future is yet to come and the person whether destiny or fate still has some influence of what she/he would want to happen to his/her life.

Palmistry is a practice originating in the Far East.^[1] The practice of palmistry has been used in the cultures of India, Tibet, China, Persia, and some countries in Europe. Studies show that most ancient communities like the Hindus, Sumerians, Tibetans, Hebrews, Babylonians, and Persians were greatly interested in the study and practice of palmistry.

It is believed^[2] that Palmistry originated in India with its roots in (Hindu) Astrology (known in Sanskrit as Jyotish), Chinese Yijing (I Ching), and Roma(Gypsy) fortune tellers.^[2] The Hindu sage Valmiki is thought ^[3] to have written a book several thousand years ago, whose title translates in English as "The Teachings of Valmiki Maharshi on Male Palmistry", comprising 567 stanzas.^[3]^[4] Renowned palmist Cheiro learnt palmistry in India where he is believed to have read ancient scriptures on palmistry. From India, the art of palmistry spread to China, Tibet, Egypt, Persia and to other countries inEurope ^[2]^[5] From China, palmistry progressed to Greece where Anaxagoras practiced it.^[2] Aristotle (384–322 B.C.E.) discovered a treatise on the subject of palmistry on an altar of Hermes, which he then presented to Alexander the Great (356–323 B.C.E.), who took great interest in examining the character of his officers by analyzing the lines on their hands.^[6] Aristotle stated that "Lines are not written into the human hand without reason. They emanate from heavenly influences and man's own individuality." Accordingly, Aristotle, Hippocrates and Alexander the Great popularized the laws and practice of palmistry. Hippocrates sought to use palmistry to aid his clinical procedures. Modern palmists often combine traditional predictive techniques with psychology, holistic healing, as well as alternative methods of divination.

Tagaytay will be my refuge to reflect and re-energize for the New Year. Although the Chinese New Year or the Year of the Water Snake will be on February 10, 2013, still, I will be celebrating the Gregorian Calendar's New Year which will be in the next few days.

Tagaytay is my alternative to Baguio City, a place that I also love because of its nice weather. I learned that these days the weather is very cool although at this time so many people goes up to the mountain city away from their homes especially the folks of Manila.

I totally agree to Andalusia's sharing (she made a reply to the person who posted a query), in particular tarot reading as a form of entertainment.

Although as a beginner or doing it as a sideline you really need to practice a lot and develop the skills. Otherwise you will lose your clients and will not return back to you if you do not read the cards carefully.

I have sustain myself through my followers and through words of mouth from my regular patrons. Since I do not have a place of my own, unlike before I used to read with other folks at Edsa Shangrila, I read clients at coffeeshops and restaurants, of course all these readings are through appointment. Some clients have came across me through fliers/posters at UP Shopping center, through my blog and others read testimonials about me at different forum.

As to pricing - I am at high-end, for beginner I believe the common rate would be 300-500 pesos a reading.

Also I like to dispel the notion that tarot readers are manghuhula. Reading tarot is not a form of hula, as a reader whatever cards you pick I interpret it for you. For that reason I charge higher because my reading is more wholistic - I do birth chart, palmistry, and if clients are not satisfied I can also give them I Ching reading.

So enjoy your journey through tarot card reading and please do not mistaken hula for tarot reading, unless otherwise you really do not fully grasp what tarot reading is, or for some they make hula in their interpretation of the tarot since they are not attuned with the real essence of tarot reading.

I like to dispel the notion of tarot readers as manghuhula.

As a tarot reader I do not make hula but intepret what the cards says once drawn by the client. For a good tarot card reader the card never tells a lie about the condition and situation of a person wanting to be read. Uarenskilled tarot reader I believe would make hula if they are not adept at interpreting the meaning of the card. And for those who are not sincere in reading the cards properly to the clients will never become a good one if they have not lose the confidence of the people they read. For those who make tsamba - well it won't be for long that their schemes will be found out.

There's energy and connection between the reader and the tarot he/she uses, so for some readers would prefer a particulat deck of cards. Also a sincere person who wants to be read will definitely find answers to his/her questions since it is the energy of the person that chooses and picks the card for interpreation. Also, as a practitioner who have gone through several years of experience, tarot card reading is far from hula since I also help the client validate and seek answers to his/her questions by using other means like the use of the I Ching.

Aside from that, skills for drawing up an accurate birth chart and abilities to read palm helps me confirm my reading with clients.

So I hope that those who are wanting to learn tarot reading should never compare themselves with a manghuhula and also those who are not so familiar with tarot reading should never consider us as manghuhula. Tarot readers are of a different breed. Some of us become one by instinct, inspiration or purely gifted with psychic abilities and the rest became one through their effort of learning the art and skills of tarot reading.

Anyway it is up to the client to believe or not what the card tells, otherwise the reading could be considered as a meaningful entertainment.

Tarot Reading and I ching appeal to figuring out and finding answers to both personal concerns and issues. Some uses birth chart to determine luck, prosperity as well as compatibility with their fiance, friends or spouse.

I hope through this forum post readers are now cleared that tarot readers are unique individuals and they are not into the craft of manghuhula or doing the tricks of hula.
