Hyundai Mobis Selects Jungo to Provide Integrated Pandora Radio in Cars

Jungo's integration of Pandora Radio for Hyundai Mobis to be available in cars sold in the US from 2013

DETROIT, MICHIGAN, OCTOBER 16, 2012 - Jungo, now part of Cisco, a leading supplier of automotive multimedia middleware and connectivity solutions, has been selected by Hyundai Mobis, an affiliate of the Hyundai Motor Company, to provide an infotainment middleware solution for new automobiles sold in the US market from 2013.

Highlights:

Jungo will provide a certified middleware implementation that supports various types of infotainment systems from Hyundai Mobis and numerous car models. The functionality of existing infotainment systems will be upgraded to enable head unit playing and control of Pandora Radio from devices connected over USB.
A key feature of the Jungo middleware for Hyundai Mobis will be support for Pandora Radio played on the iPhone. Pandora support is a prominent, pre-integrated feature of the middleware thanks to an existing partnership between Jungo and Pandora.
Jungo's automotive multimedia middleware will be on show at the SAE Convergence 2012 exhibition in Detroit on October 16 & 17, 2012 (booth 319).

New Mobile Connectivity Stack Now Available from Jungo

SAN JOSE, CA, February 21, 2011 - Jungo Ltd, a leading provider of embedded, software connectivity solutions, has announced the immediate availability of support for the new Mobile Broadband Interface Model (MBIM) specification Published by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) in November 2011, the MBIM V1.0 specification is a USB-based protocol for host and device connectivity for desktops, laptops, tablets and mobile devices.

The specification supports multiple generations of GSM- and CDMA-based 3G and 4G packet data services, including the recent LTE technology. With support for multiple IP connections per single USB interface, CID and UUID command transfer, device-agnostic mobile broadband class drivers and a standard control protocol, in place of the ubiquitous but non-standard "AT" command set, MBIM facilitates high bandwidth connectivity for USB modem dongles, embedded USB modems and 3G routers.

The Jungo MBIM solution is based on USBware, the company's established embedded USB device stack, and DriverCore, its complete USB CDC solution of production-grade desktop driver stacks. Jungo's advanced USB connectivity solutions are being used by Leadcore Technology of China, a leading provider of TD-SCDMA chipsets and terminal solutions, to provide short-range connectivity for Leadcore's next-generation TD-LTE mobile broadband platforms.

LTE (full name - 3GPP Long Term Evolution) is a high-speed, wireless communications standard for mobile phones and data terminals. It increases the capacity and speed of the GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA network technologies, using new modulation techniques.

Chipsets from Leadcore, a member of the Datang Telecom Technology and Industry Group, are used by major terminal device manufacturers, including ZTE,Lenovo and Coolpad, and by telecommunications operators such as China Mobile. Jungo is providing Leadcore with advanced USB connectivity software stacks to support LTE bandwidth requirements. Jungo and RealVNC have based their solution on VNC® Mobile Solution for Automotive, supporting Terminal Mode, based on VNC, a specification published by Consumer Electronics for Automotive (CE4A,) an automotive industry working group comprising Audi, BMW, Daimler, Porsche and Volkswagen and Nokia. The new solution connects a standard STB to any home or wireless network via USB.

By utilizing the STB's USB port, which is standard on the majority of new devices, the Jungo solution extends the active life of the STB by enabling it to support new, ARPU-generating services. These include Video on Demand (VOD), video streaming, broadcast-Internet convergence and interactive services that require a return path.

Jungo provides an all-in one solution, including the USB software on the STB, WiFi protocols and 3G connectivity. It can be used with a WiFi dongle, to connect the STB to a home network, or with a 3G USB modem.

By upgrading legacy STBs, the Jungo solution enables operators to meet market demand with the introduction of new features and services such as Video on Demand (VOD) or interactive features that require a return path, without the expense of upgrading STBs already in the market.

Jungo Unveils Complete NCM USB Solution For High-Speed Broadband Networks

SAN JOSE, CA, August 3 - Jungo Ltd., a leading provider of connectivity software and driver development tools, today announced the launch of its Network Control Model (NCM) USB solution for high-speed communication devices. The NCM solution, based on Jungo's USBware and DriverCore technologies, is optimized for devices operating on high-speed broadband networks.

The Jungo NCM USB Stack uses the Network Control Model specification from USB-IF, which defines how Ethernet packets can be transferred over USB. The highly optimized interface defined by the specification targets high-speed mobile broadband networks, including HSPA+, LTE and WiMAX.

The Jungo solution consists of two parts: an embedded NCM USB stack for the mobile broadband platform, and a complete set of high-bandwidth NCM USB laptop and PC drivers for Windows, Linux and Mac, which are instrumental in boosting rapid product development of external USB data-cards and embedded USB 4G modules.

The embedded NCM USB stack is part of Jungo's mature and tested USBware product line, while the PC drivers belong to the market-leading DriverCore product portfolio. MediaCore leverages Jungo's advanced USBware protocol stack to facilitate industry-compliant connectivity with any USB device. It also provides infotainment system manufacturers with all of the components necessary to index, control, synchronise and stream audio, video and images from personal media players, USB mobile storage, smartphones, and cameras to in-car systems.

Enabling end-to-end connectivity, MediaCore unifies access to any media source that utilizes USB network transports. This includes devices such as Apple iPod, MP3/MP4 players, flash drives, local hard disks, CD/DVDs and mobile phones. With Jungo's MediaCore, all connected media sources are filtered through a media gateway and are controlled via an intuitive, unified API. This eliminates the complexity of direct protocol implementations and enables a single application to control and access all media sources. Native support for advanced media protocols (such as MTP and Apple iPod) is enabled through Jungo's media API reduction technology which allows applications to select and play songs using only three function calls.

These include bandwidth of up to 5.0 Gb/s (compared to 480 Mb/s for USB 2.0), improved power efficiency and management, increased power supply capability to devices, and optical as well as traditional USB-wire interconnection.

USB 3.0 is physically and functionally backward-compatible with USB 2.0 and can support devices complying with older specifications. USB 3.0 devices will operate in USB 2.0 modes with USB 2.0 hosts. Because SuperSpeed USB 3.0 is up to 10 times faster than its predecessor, transferring an HD movie (27GB) now takes about 70 seconds instead of 15 minutes with USB 2.0. This performance boost is most significant for Flash-based devices such as digital storage, cameras (digital and video), media players and mobile phones. As part of USB 3.0, a working group has been formed for the development of the next-generation mass storage specification named Mass Storage UASP. The throughput will be achieved by using a combined solution including a 3.0 stack and a UASP class driver.

Jungo Ltd., a market leader in driver development tools, has announced that Gennum Corporation (TSX: GND), a top-tier semiconductor solution and IP core provider, will bundle Jungo's WinDriver PCI Express® driver development toolkit with its GN4124, the industry's first x4 PCI Express (PCIe) to local bus endpoint bridge chip. The highly integrated PCIe endpoint bridge offers four lanes at 2.5Gb/s or 10Gb/s in each direction enabling designers of high-speed embedded applications to leverage the full potential of the PCIe standard with a low-cost, turnkey solution. This solution can speed time-to-market by an average of two months, representing a significant edge in the fast-moving PCI solutions market.

The addition of Jungo WinDriver support for the GN4124 chip delivers a more complete solution for customers to develop specialized PCI Express endpoint solutions quickly. This complements other accelerants for the GN4124 such as the reference design kit (RDK) board and royalty-free FPGA (field programmable gate array) source code provided by Gennum to simplify attachment of customer application hardware to the GN4124.

The GN4124, with a pin-efficient local bus interface and broad support for industry-standard FPGAs, gives designers greater freedom to select FGPAs that are smaller and of lower cost to better match their application. This can lower power consumption by up to 75 percent. Additionally, the GN4124 can download firmware "on-the-fly" directly to the FPGA over the PCIe link. Besides eliminating the need for a separate FPGA configuration memory, this enables in-field firmware upgrades and reconfigurable computing applications.

The partnership provides customers of both companies with complementary products. Jungo's WinDriver for PCI Express gives developers utilizing Gennum's PCIe endpoint bridge platform a powerful and intuitive toolkit that enables immediate hardware access and automatic creation of custom drivers specifically for Gennum's solution.
