Así, en 1948 <a href="http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre_Schaeffer">Pierre Schaeffer</a>, ingeniero de Radio Francia, empezó a componer grabando sonidos y ruidos varios que posteriormente procesaba. A este nuevo arte le llamo "Música Concreta", ya que, al contrario que la música instrumental abstracta se basaba en sonidos de la realidad. Era una música no realizada con notas sino con "objetos sonoros", que procedían de grabaciones manipuladas o no, y a los que se situaba en el tiempo de una forma nueva, cortando y empalmando cinta.<br /><br />Una de sus primeras obras, por ejempló, el "Etude aux chemins de Fer" (en el que pueden escucharlo, en el video de arriba) se basaba en ruidos relacionados con los trenes. Un clásico del género es la "Symphonie pour un homme seul" (1949-50), realizada, sobre sonidos de la voz, por Schaeffer y su alumno P. Henry. El impacto plástico de estas obras fue grande, <a href="http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maurice_B%C3%A9jart">Maurice Bejart </a>creó coreografías para muchas de ellas.<br /><br /><a href="http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre_Henry">Pierre Henry</a>, cultivó en estilo muy literario, su pieza "Le microphone bien tempéré" (1950-51) es otro clásico del género. Más adelante utilizaría los sonidos electrónicos además de los concretos, pasándose a llamar música electro-acústica considerando a Pierre como uno de los padrinos de la música electronica. Alcanzó un gran virtuosismo en la manipulación del material sonoro, en obras como "Misa para el tiempo presente".<br /></p><p>Varése también pasó por Radio Francia y por fin pudo ver sus aspiraciones cumplidás en parte cuando compuso su "Poeme electronique" (1958), música pensada pare ser interpretada a través de 350 altavoces instalados en el edificio del Pabellón Philips (diseñado por Le Corbusier) junto con imágenes proyectadas en las paredes. Es una de las obras maestras de la música concreta, en la que se alcanza un equilibrio entre los sonidos evocativos y su articulación temporal, sin llegar a la trivialidad como ocurre en muchas obras del género. Iannis Xenakis compuso varias obras en dicho estudio, entre ellas "Bohor" y "Orient-Occident"; este compositor, más interesado en lo abstracto, utiliza los sonidos concretos para edificar mediante mezclas repetidas grandes masas y climax sonoros. </p><p>En los comienzos de la música concreta el sonido se procesaba mediante manipulación de la cinta y electrónicamente. En el primer casa utilizaban varias técnicas come reproducir a distinta velocidad, al revés, cortar trozos del sonido, por ejemplo el ataque, consiguiendo otro irreconocible, etc. O se podían empalmar muchos sonidos y conseguir otro complejo, o empalmar el principio y el fin de un trozo de cinta para formar un bucle sin fin. Técnicas todas ellas que hoy se realizan fácilmente con samplers, entonces se realizaban con tijeras y cinta adhesiva. En aquella época, los compositores en su afán de encontrar nuevas sonoridades agrandan la orquesta sinfónica al máximo e incorporan nuevos instrumentos, pero esto no bastaba. Así, el compositor Ferruccio Busoni en su "Esbozo de una estética musical" (1907) deja constancia del agotamiento de los instrumentos tradicionales y de la necesidad de incorporar nuevos timbres, poniendo todas sus esperanzas en los instrumentos eléctricos que entonces ya empezaban a aparecer. Busoni no se dedicó a llevar a la práctica sus ideas pero el compositor Varése y el grupo Futurista las desarrollaron con mucho entusiasmo. Unos y otros integraron el ruido como elemento de primera importancia en la música.</div><br /><div></div><div>Recordemos algo muy interesante en esta época, la música electrónica se dio con el primer movimiento vanguardista, el Futurismo, que para hacer sintética este estilo artístico e ideológico, era básicamente el rechazo de las formas tradicionales en las tipografías, el interletrado, columna, pie de pagina entre otras cuestiones, intento (y lo logro) romper con las tradiciones, el pasado y los signos convencionales. También este movimiento vanguardista encabezado por el artista Filippo Marinetti, estaba a favor de las maquinas, la industrialización que se hizo tan fuerte en esos años en Italia, gobernada por el fascismo, política apoyada también por Marinetti, de esta forma tuvo tanta fuerza esta vanguardia ya que era apoyada por gobierno.</div><br /><div><b></b></div><div>Varése sacó a primer plano a los instrumentos de percusión en la orquesta, explotando su importancia tímbrica. Se adelantó a su tiempo empleando efectos sonoros en sus obras orquestales que después serían típicos de la música electrónica como reproducción acelerada o ralentizada de cinta, mezcla de sonidos independientes, cinta reproducida al revés, etc. Por otra parte Luigi Russolo, fundador del Movimiento Futurista, sintió la necesidad de crear un nuevo tipo de arte basada en los ruidos, para lo cual construyó un órgano de ruidos que era un conjunto de instrumentos mecánicos, los "Intonarumori", con hombres tan sugerentes como ululatori, crepitatori o stropicciatori. Además de la búsqueda de timbres también se construyeron nuevos instrumentos para investigar los microintervalos y las afinaciones alternativas a la escala temperada, como es el caso de Harry Partch con sus marimbas o Julián Carrillo con sus pianos de sextos y dieciseisavos de tono. A principios de siglo también aparecieron los primeros instrumentos basados en la electricidad. Uno de ellos, el Telearmonium inventado por Taddeus Cahill, producía sonido mediante dinamos y los transmitía por teléfono. No tuvo mucho futuro, se supone debido a problemas de manejo ya que pesaba doscientas toneladas. Otro instrumento interesante, que se utiliza todavía, fue el Theremin (1920) cuyo sonido se controla moviendo las manos entre dos antenas. De todos estos instrumentos pioneros sólo las Ondas Martenot consiguió un repertorio importante de música escrita especialmente para él.<br />Pero la potencialidad de estos instrumentos se hubiera aprovechado más si hubiera existido un soporte adecuado donde poder grabar y manipular el sonido. </div><br /><div></div><div>El disco fonográfico ya existía y compositores como Ernest Toch, Cage o el propio Varése hicieron música manipulando discos, pero además de ser muy incómodo la calidad de los resultados era decepcionante. Más fácil de manipular que un disco era la cinta de celuloide del cine sonoro. El sonido se grababa en forma de patrones de luz y sombra en una banda transparente junto a las imágenes. Prescindiendo es estas y dibujando dichos patroones "a mano", el canadiense McLaren y el americano Whitney sintetizaban sonido.
