Wonderful Juno Baby Review on Peanut Butter and Pickles!

I was so happy to read the nice words that Peanut Butter and Pickles wrote about Juno Baby's DVD, Juno's Rhythm Adventure. As much as I hate to admit this, I was actually so thrilled that someone noticed the book like packaging. We've gotten a few questions about our free iTunes downloads. Music and kids go together like peanut butter and jelly (or peanut butter and pickles!). I was really pumped to get this DVD from Juno Baby in the mail for my daughter to watch. We've watched our Baby Einstein DVD's to death, and I was looking forward to trying something new.

The DVD comes in this really cute book-like case, and inside the cover is the DVD and a spot to put another CD you make yourself with a free music download code from their site. A great bonus, if your kids like to listen to music in the car.

My daughter (she's three) LOVED the Juno's Rhythm Adventure DVD that we were given. She wanted to watch it again right away and did not budge off of my lap the whole time. We talked about if afterward and her favorite characters were Juno, and the "silly pink bunny".

I liked the use of puppets instead of animation, and the use of original music from creator and composerBelinda Takahashi. The segments were short enough to keep my daughter's attention, and were colorful and whimsical. The songs promoted positive things such as walking and running and enjoying your friends. I also like that the DVD is also playable in French and Spanish. Watching something simple like this is a great way to expose a young child to foreign languages. The main focus of the DVD was finding rhythm in every day things, but I wouldn't have picked up on that theme if I hadn't known the title of the DVD.

In addition to giving you quality musical engagement for your child, Juno Baby is giving back to the community. They are very proud of their One for All project. The storyline of the products are centered around a young girl Juno and her 4 animal friends. Together they go on musical adventures as they help the viewer develop expressive language skills and their love of music. Juno's music is live, performed by orchestral musicians rather than electronic sounds that mimic classical music. Each DVD includes language tracts in English, French, and Spanish.

We received Juno Baby's Way To Go Juno! Facing Fears Through Music (18 months - 5 years old), Indie's Great Teddy Bear Hunt: Problem Solving Through Music (12 months - 4.5 years old) and Orchestral Edition Juno Baby CD.

When we received our DVDs and CD, Aiyana and I looked through the packaging. Right away, Aiyana determined Juno Baby was for her baby sister, Chloe. The first DVD we watched was Way To Go Juno! Chloe became overwhelmed with excitement. She loved the characters and kept pointing to them on the screen. She had so much fun dancing to the music as she watched Juno face her fears. The first story was about Juno needing a haircut. This story really helped Aiyana who is struggling with her own fears of getting her first haircut. Aiyana still says these are Chloe's DVDs, but she is always requesting to watch them, of course, for her baby sister.

We really enjoy the Orchestral Edition CD. It consist of music from the DVDs, but without the narration and lyrics from the characters. This is perfect for quiet time, but my girls enjoy it during playtime as well. This CD is usually playing in Chloe's room during the day.

I am happy we were introduced to Juno Baby. They are now favorites in our family and being able to help support the One For All Program makes purchasing from Juno Baby the way to go. Kudos to Juno Baby for making wonderful product and for support a fabulous cause!

Juno Baby: Early Music Education for Developing Minds

Like a lot of children, my son Brody is a music fanatic. He loves his music class, he turns everything into an instrument and the second he hears music on a commercial or show he immediately is glued to the TV and starts bopping up and down.

This is exactly what he did when we received a DVD from Juno Baby: Early Music Education for Developing Minds. If you haven’t heard about them yet, Juno Baby is this great innovative music and media company that has created wonderful DVD’s, CD’s, & books. Dr. Belinda Takahashi, the company’s founder, created this Emmy Award winning product line from original orchestral compositions.

Juno is the main character, and her and her friends are interactive. They speak directly to your child to get them clapping and playing along. Juno creates a world of discovery and imagination for your child to stimulate their higher thinking levels while just having fun. Juno Baby is recommended for children 12 months to five years, but I think even if you don’t plop your child in front of the TV; just the background noise can be beneficial for children younger then a year old.

The Newest Juno Baby Fan - Joey Lawrence!

Well, you can imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning and checked my google alerts to find a picture of Joey Lawrence with his absolutely adorable daughter Charly and wife enjoying our DVDs and plush on the Hot Mom's Club blog! We were told that Charly loved the DVD so much that she insisted on bringing it with her on the photo shoot! Yay!

Juno Baby DVD Review and Giveaway

When I heard about the Juno Baby DVD series I wondered if this was just another DVD targeted to children that made promises to educate my little one. In fact, the real challenge for me is that Mason does not watch any television, despite the fact that I have on occasion tried to get him interested in other age appropriate programming or DVDs. In the end, he'd rather spend his days playing on his piano or reading his books.

From the beginning of his life Mason had been exposed to all genres of music, including classical, rock, folk, and country. He loves music and it really does surprise me that other DVDs I have introduced him to do not catch his attention. So, I approached this DVD as I do any other in the hopes of obtaining a genuine interest from Mason. I was pleasantly surprised that from the first song, Juno Baby had Mason’s attention! The puppets used in the series could not be cuter! They are attractive and brightly colored, which definitely held Mason’s attention. Right from the beginning, the orchestral music, including the melodies and harmonies were interesting. By the third song, Mason was dancing to the music and watching the puppets intently. The simple storyline throughout the DVD made it easy for Mason to follow and it kept his attention. Another nice feature of Juno Baby’s “Juno’s Rhythm Adventure” is that it includes skills to grow into like clapping, snapping fingers, and patting. It also shows how to use these skills in a song while making music.

After viewing this DVD I wanted to learn more about Juno Baby and the other products they had to offer. On the website, junobaby.com, I was pleased to learn that the Juno Baby company has launched a “One For All Program”. For every Juno Baby DVD, CD, or book purchased, Juno Baby donates a like product to a child in an under served community. Juno Baby is partnered with social service agencies and children’s organizations around the world to help bring music to all children. I love the fact that by my introducing music to my son, there is another child somewhere who can have the same musical experience and hopefully will be inspired along the way.

The kids were all out of school Monday and things were CRAZY here. Screaming, running, jumping on the couch, wrestling with each other, fighting over toys… you get the picture. They were so hyper that if I didn’t know better, I’d have thought they ate nothing but chocolate and sugar for breakfast. It was bad.

By the time lunch was over things were heading downhill fast, and I knew if I didn’t find a way to occupy them that I’d soon be hog tied and locked in a closet or something lol. I quickly grabbed the newJuno Baby DVD and headed to my bedroom to see if I could convince Lucas and Logan to lay down for a bit and watch it. Well, they weren’t interested in laying down and resting, but they did sit calmly and watch the ENTIRE DVD (see photos above)!

And even as they clapped, tapped, or bounced along with the Juno Baby DVD they never once took their eyes off it! Logan has since watched it twice more this week and is now constantly asking “What time is it?” which is something asked during the movie… HE LOVES IT! And I approve as well. The cute characters, bright colors, and rhythmic music and sure to draw any child (and mom) in.

Haiti and the Power and Importance of Music

Even though I've dedicated my entire life to music and understand how important music is, it still amazes me when I see just how fundamental and essential music is to our human existence. As most of you, I've been watching and reading about the incredible tragedy in Haiti. It has been heartbreaking and disturbing. Lying and dying in rubble, helpless and hopeless. Most recently I saw this video clip (see below) of a man searching for his missing wife for 6 days and the unbelievable miracle of finding her alive. She is pulled from the destruction and one of the first things she does is SING - no food or water in total darkness buried alive, facing death and what comes out of her? MUSIC!

Another story I read was of a mother who was trying to keep her daughter alive in a collapsed building. They were stuck and trapped and her daughter wound up dying on the fourth night. In their bleakest last days together the mother sang and prayed.

Music gives us hope, support, and joy. It can express what we can not say in words and can affect and touch us like nothing else. It's an outlet for true human emotion that brings us to a higher place when we need it most. To me, music is as fundamental and important as it gets. My hope is that everyone starts to experience and understand the value and power of music and of course exposes it to our youngest.
