Just Around the Conner

Who? When? Where??

2013-08-07T11:43:00.003-05:00

So, I've been MIA for a while. Not on purpose - but life happens & you just get pulled in different directions all the time. Maverick Cash is now a little over 2yrs old!! Can you believe it? Neither can I. He is such a smart, talented, funny & handsome little boy. And I am one proud momma :)

He is always making me & daddy laugh for one reason or other.

Life is so hectic & crazy & sometimes it feels as if we are on a roller coaster with no stop.

We get caught up in the details of meaningless things. I think sometimes we let our family get SO consumed with business that it is a sin. I haven't talked to Jesus about this yet, but it has definitely been on my mind.

So, now that Maverick is 2 & getting very aware of his surroundings, I think it's time to really plan our 2014 family vacation :) The mountains, The beach, who cares!

As long as I have my family of 3 - I'm happy & content.

Content isn't a word that I would describe anything or anyone these days. We want more..turns into we need more. When we really don't need most of what we already have.

I'm guilty. But I am trying to be more aware of what my family & I actually need :)

I think there is a lot to say about living a simple life.

Anyway, to be completely random - have you seen Longmire?!

We are in the middle of Season 2 & I have to say it is one of our favorite TV shows.

There is something about a widowed cowboy sheriff along with his best friend, Henry Standing Bear, living in the wild country of Wyoming that sets the scene for a great tv series :)

Christmas Time Has Come & Gone...

2013-01-03T13:45:00.001-06:00

So, Christmas was quickly approaching and even though I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE Christmastime it

didn't feel much like Christmas this year. Maybe because of our awesome Arkansas weather which stayed in the 60's & then finally dropped at Christmas and then snowed on Christmas Day! LOL

Maverick didn't have any idea what was going on, but he had a much better 2nd Christmas this year than his 1st. So, that made momma happy :) Of course we were all blessed with too many presents & ate WAY to much food, but nothing gives me more joy than having our traditional "non-traditional" family meal & just being with people that are "home" to me... my family, we actually love each other.. it's such a fading concept these days.

I'm very proud to announce that we have 3 new additions

to our family this year : Shonda, Madison & Macen.

These girls have won over Casey's heart & ours and I'm very happy for Casey & Shonda and the new life they're starting together <3 p="p">

Next year Maverick will know all about Christmas & Santa and I'm sure that we'll be naming our own "Elf On The Shelf"', but he will also know that it's Jesus' birthday & HE truly is the reason for this wondrous season!

I love you all & I hope the New Year brings you Great Things!

"Santa" was sampling some goodies.......

.....but he mostly relaxed on Christmas Day in his red suit and new house shoes :)

All the Kids... Madi Page, Madi Shell, Maverick, Macen & Alexia <3>

Catching Up!!

2012-11-07T11:16:00.000-06:00

Ok, so I'm really not sure where all of my time has gone!! I have neglected my blog!

So, I'm going to post some pictures of our little man... who isn't so little anymore :)

He is learning so much & doing new things every single day!!

Here are some pics from this fall - Enjoy!

Biddy-boy's 1st trip to deer camp!

1st time to the pumpkin patch!

Our 1st trip to Cabelas :)

Halloween 2012 - Betty, Barney & Bam-Bam Rubble :)

Of course, Bam-Bam didn't smile... he was ready to get in the floor & play with the other kids :)

Is there a common thread with these pictures???? Maverick isn't smiling for pictures anymore!! LOL He is such a goober, and not smiling on purpose - if we just had these
little moments on video....but it's memories, right!?

Mmmmm....SummerTime :)

2012-07-17T09:32:00.000-05:00

Every year around this time, we get to makin' pies!

We normally make a mess of apple pies (about 6 at a time) and freeze them for a later date. We start with homemade crust & start peelin' the apples that we've picked... it's not for the light hearted, it's

pretty hard work! LOL

Last night we started with our peaches :) My sweet husband was my sexy peach peeler, LOL

This is what we got... but I didn't get a picture of the final product... I really have no idea why! ha ha

Fun! Fun!

2012-07-06T15:15:00.000-05:00

So - - we broke down and bought a pool (which we have been longing for - for a long time!)

Here are some pics of MC helping us fill it up with water - he loves the water!

Getting tickled LOL He cracks himself up

Before there was any water - he was kissing the pool...ha ha!!

My how time flies...

2012-06-21T10:21:00.001-05:00

I can't believe I haven't posted anything since Easter!! I would try to fill you in on what has happened, but it I'm not sure I can remember :) As of right now, Amanda & Brodie are back in the USA for a visit & we are happy they are here!! Brodie spent the night with us last Friday night & I had forgotten how much fun we all had together - you should have seen Maverick with him, totally captivated, he didn't go to bed until 10:30pm & didn't even want to then! He just wanted to be with his cousin.. so sweet!

Easter...Again :)

2012-04-10T11:00:00.000-05:00

I know I've already posted 2 separate times about Easter this year! LOL So, what's one more :)-

I've got new pictures of our niece & nephew from Easter!

Sydnie Bug :)

Looking for Easter eggs!!

And here is our Brodie-Bear in Italy after he got our Easter package in the mail :)

I didn't have any pictures of Alexia & Madison from this year - but they are precious too!! <3

Easter 2012

2012-04-09T11:59:00.000-05:00

This Easter was BUSY!

We had a very busy weekend with lots of people with love, Maverick & I both got our hair done, & the boys are trying to live through their allergies. . . but we did manage to get one good family photo :)

Maverick wasn't feelin' so hott & just wouldn't smile for the camera <3

"The World"

2012-04-03T11:36:00.000-05:00

My in-laws have some land with nothing but woods & wildlife.

Ever since they have owned this property, Brodie has called it "The World".

It was funny at first - but then you actually think about it.

We drive down to this little piece of country heaven... there aren't stores or gas stations, there isn't traffic, there aren't any wide open fields... It is like a different "world". So, Brodie is right!

Well, this past weekend we took Maverick to "the world" along with his new red wagon. It was a BIG hit!

I can't help but put a picture in black & white :)

Easter Time Is Near!

2012-03-30T11:22:00.000-05:00

Last weekend we had a "mini" photo

shoot for Maverick's Easter pictures!

Raychel Book, the owner of Exposed Photography did a wonderful

job & Maverick really showed off for her :)

Cheesing it up, BIG TiME! :)

He was looking up at his daddy <3

One of my favorites - He was checking out the bunny's food!

Sweet Baby

Sweet Memories

2012-03-19T10:00:00.000-05:00

Maverick is a lucky boy, in that not only does he have an adoptive family that loves him, but he is getting to meet his biological family that loves him just as much!

This weekend we met up with Moma Lola (Mav's great g-ma), Mr. Mike and we

met Ms. Mona (Mav's great, great g-ma)!!

One of the most precious gifts we could have gotten was a family tree!

They gave us a Navajo Willow tree to plant that is from Moma Lola's brother's house in Colorado.

A Time to Celebrate!!

2012-03-12T12:00:00.000-05:00

Believe it or not, but Saturday our little man turned 1!!

This year has been full of sweet moments - some trials - and lots of giggles :)

We partied with our immediate families & had a great time.

Maverick was blessed with lots of gifts & sugars - thank you all for making

Maverick's birthday so special.

Maverick & Uncle Casey!

Standing inside of the gift bag! LOL

Getting undressed for cake time!

Happy birthday!

He got some icing - one pointed finger at a time.. :)

The final SMASH!

Great Grandma & the birthday boy!

Bath Time!

Happy Birthday Maverick Cash!!

We love You :)

March Winds are Blowing

2012-03-06T09:47:00.000-06:00

It's finally March! I can't believe how this year has already flown by so fast!

It has been such a mild winter (which doesn't hurt my feelings) & we are jumping straight into spring.

It seems like all 3 of us have been so sick this year :( which is very frustrating.

Nothing pains our hearts more than seeing Maverick sick.

But March brings a very happy occasion ....... Maverick's Birthday!!!!

Talk about time flying by, it seems like a few days ago we were trying to decide on baby names & then going into the hospital to be induced & then meeting the most precious blessing we have ever known!!

So, this week... I'm just taking my time & decorating the house for Maverick's party a little each night - so that when the party comes, I'll be able to enjoy the whole day - without having to run around like a crazy woman :)

I'll try to post some good pictures of his party decorations before the party starts!

Happy Leap Year!

2012-02-29T15:04:00.000-06:00

Happy February 29th!!

Lucky #7

2012-02-27T10:58:00.000-06:00

This weekend Jared & I celebrated our 7th anniversary!

We spent the weekend in lovely Eureka Springs, AR and had a fabulous time.

We went back to a favorite spot we have several miles out of town.

A cozy retreat, where you can just relax :)

We also ate at a FABULOUS Italian restaurant, Ermilios!

It was voted the best Italian in the state of AR in 2010. Jared & I are planning our next trip

just to go back to eat another dish at Ermilios!!

Then, Sunday I got a message from Casey - he & Shonda decided to take a day trip to Eureka & we all got to meet for lunch! We went to Catfish Cabin & had the most delicious fried pies EVER!

We all got different flavors - apricot, cherry, coconut cream & blackberry...MMMM!

Great News to Kick-Off the New Year!

2012-01-11T14:44:00.000-06:00

As all of you know by now, last October Maverick was airlifted to Arkansas Children's Hospital with a

subdural hematoma (Acute subdural hematomas are among the deadliest of all head injuries. The bleeding fills the brain area very rapidly, compressing brain tissue. This often results in brain injury and may lead to death.)

Maverick had emergency surgery the next morning & it went very well. (Emergency surgery may be needed to reduce pressure within the brain. This may involve drilling a small hole in the skull, which allows blood to drain and relieves pressure on the brain. Large hematomas or solid blood clots may need to be removed through a procedure called a craniotomy, which creates a larger opening in the skull.)

Maverick had a craniotomy, which meant they cut a large "U" shape in his skull & since his skull was still soft they were able to pull the skull back & drain the blood. This left Maverick with a large scar & a separate hole behind the main incision for a drainage tube. He was a real trooper the whole week we were down there & we were very well taken care of by the hospital staff & our family & friends.

Well, that was October 2011 & now it's January 2012 - we went back to Little Rock yesterday for Maverick's 2nd check-up since his surgery.

His Neurosurgeon was very pleased with his progress and said that we don't have to come back for another check-up for 6 months!!!

Thank You, Jesus !!!

We are so blessed to have the most loving, silly, kind-hearted, big belly laugh, stubborn boy EVER!!

We never could have imagined that we could love another human being as we do our son.

He has made Jared & I better people - we Love him so.

ANYWAY - here is a snapshot of Maverick yesterday before his Appt.

God's blessings are everywhere, everyday. It's up to us to be aware of them & thankful when we see them.

Maverick 1-8-2012

2012-01-09T09:57:00.000-06:00

We went to Granny & Paw-Paw Conner's house yesterday & Maverick played & played with a BIG box!! He is crawling like crazy, pulling up & really wanting to walk. He got to see GrannyMa (his great g-ma) & he sure liked to play with her too.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012!!

2012-01-05T08:14:00.000-06:00

For the past few years we have spent NYE with our best friends, Amber & Mike.

This year was no exception, but instead of staying home - we celebrated NYE in Branson!! We had a great time - we wanted to take Maverick with us, but it was so cool & windy we thought it wouldn't be a good idea since he is getting over an ear infection. . . we missed him very much (the hours we were away from him)

and hopefully we can go back to Branson this summer as a family :)

New Years Eve Kiss!!

Happy New Year!!
May 2012 be even better than 2011 :)

1st OFFICIAL hair cut...

2011-12-20T12:54:00.000-06:00

Maverick has always had a head full of hair & I haven't wanted to cut it at all - but when they shaved one side of his head for surgery (2months ago & you can't even tell because his hair has grown back sooo good) the nostalgia of our baby's 1st hair cut was gone.

But since one side was so much longer than the other, we decided to trim it up! Of course, Auntie Am did the honors & we will have a real "1st hair cut" memory for all of us to share :)
