Among some of the frequently asked questions I get from clients booking a session is "How many shots do I get and will I get a CD?". There is often this expectation that they will receive hundreds of images on a CD and this somehow makes it a worth while photo shoot. At TSC we allow clients to view the photo session and select 5 images to be retouched, which is a lot for one outfit but "models" have told me, "Well, I shot with (photographer) and he gave me all my pictures!". I've even heard, "I got 100 pictures and 2 retouches and it only cost me $75 dollars." Hey, I'm happy for you. You got a good deal on your photo shoot. You paid for a lot of pictures but did you get quality photography? Unfortunately, even some good photographers have resorted to giving away all the pictures from a shoot whether they are good or bad just to satisfy the demands of the market. However, giving away a lot of pictures for a little bit of money is the typical behavior of an amateur. Aspiring models should keep in mind that a photographer who is truly good at their craft and is business minded would not give you any bad pictures whether you like them or not. They are supposed to be the professional and they should care about the way the pictures they release represent them and the client they capture. Good pictures attract business, bad pictures don't. Hopefully, you chose the photographer based on the quality of the work you've seen. If so then you would trust that he/she knows how to capture you and knows what a good image is. If that is the case then why again do you really need so many pictures? The purpose of a photo shoot is to get "that shot". Many aspiring models watch America's Next Top Model and hear Tyra say every week, "Here was your best shot". Photoshoots for ads and print publications may take hours to complete but they end up using...one shot. One shot people! How many shots of an outfit do you need in your portfolio? (Say it with me) One. Now, there are cases where the photographer may be shooting a composite (multiple exposure) or a theme that calls for several images from the same look, creatively in succession. Other than that you only need ONE. I've seen aspiring models actually post an entire photo shoot on Myspace, Facebook or even Twitter. The photographer clearly didn't care what you did with his pictures and that model was obviously more impressed with how many times she saw her face in a picture than the quality of the shoot itself. I've had clients ask, "So there weren't any other good shots?" Let's face it, if it was your first photo shoot, you had no idea what to do and you were nervous why would you expect there to be a lot of good shots? It's a better thing that you got a few very good ones versus a lot of mediocre to bad ones. I mean, don't you want to be seen in your best light?

I know some photographers have just given up the argument for the sake of booking shoots, but how will your work ever be valued if you (the photographer) don't respect it enough to edit out your mediocre shots? Clients are going to show everyone what you did for them. You will be judged not only by the work you post to your website but also by the work you do for your clients. Aspiring models need to stop accepting less quality for affordable quantity. I suspect that many of you feel that the more images you have, the better chance that someone may come along and take the time to look through all of them and be impressed. Well...no, they won't. A serious onlooker is going to wonder why you needed so many frames. It also says that you weren't confident about any one shot to stand behind so you just posted them all and hoped for the best. Not a good look. Aspiring models and photographers - aspire to reach the standard of professionals and stop mastering the standard of amateurs. You're only holding yourself back.

When I first came to The Studio Concept, she was one of the first people I met. I'd seen her pictures online and my absolute favorites were the shots from the "mirror" series. I so admired her energy and the way she made eye contact with the camera. Everything about those pictures was just simply sexy. Yes, she may appear sultry and sensual in her images but she is so down-to-earth. I love her sense of humor, her lively personality and her ambitious spirit. Meet Anise Tai.

Tell me a little about yourself.

I'm such a sweetheart but you'd never know it! Lol! I get called the "tough girl" but I'm really a big softy. I'm such a big kid and a hopeless romantic. I like walks in the park and Chuck-e-Cheese. :-)

How long have you been modeling?
I've been modeling for five years now.

What interested you in becoming a model?
A close friend of mine took some images of me with a digital camera and put them on myspace. I was so uninterested but my pictures seemed to be getting a good response. So a photographer contacted me and my journey began.

What type of model do you want to be?
I'd like to be more of a personality I guess. My style of modeling is more so erotic, so I'd like to be a glamour/erotic model.

What are some of the challenges you've faced while pursuing your modeling career?
Some challenges I've faced are people who don't take glamour modeling seriously. I say to them, "You try sucking it in, pushing it out, twisting it around and balancing all that on 4 inch pumps!" This is definitely work and I expect to get paid for my job just like others do.

Who are you role models?
My role models would have to be my two younger siblings. My little brother and sister are always the most refreshing people I've ever encountered. I hope to have that affect on people some day.

What attributes do you feel a successful model should have?
I believe a successful model should posses the ability to perform at the drop of a dime and make it believable. I also believe a successful model should have plenty of personality. There's nothing worse than a pretty girl with an ugly base.

From your point of view, what do you think is lacking in the modeling industry?
I think the industry is lacking character and individuality. Step outside of what everybody else is doing and you might be surprised at the outcome.

What does the word "model" mean to you?
Being a model to me means being a blank canvas, able to mold and work into whatever the client or photographer wants.

Would you be willing to travel for modeling jobs and assignments?
I'm so free to travel!! Let's go!!

What is your best asset?
My best asset has to be my ability to be totally uninhibited.

Describe your personality.
I'd say my personality is fun, charming, in your face and super goofy. I'm trying to keep that goofy thing to a bare minimum. :-)

How has modeling affected your personal life?
It has made it hard to spend time with my loved ones. Other than that, my family is pretty supportive for the most part.

What is your goal when you step in front of the camera?
To get "that shot" in less than 30 frames.

What advice would you give other aspiring models?
Go hard. Step outside yourself. Don't be afraid to look stupid and get some training. You train for any other job/career. Don't misunderstand modeling as an easy, good time. To be the best at anything it takes training.

Do you have any projects that you are currently working on?
I have a few things in my back pocket...just keep watching.

Myspace was the first online community I joined and I've made some wonderful connections from that site. One of them is a talented photographer in St. Petersburg, FL. I thought it would be great to let you all get to know him and view his images. Meet Rassi Dennard for Raslion Photography.

Did you go to school to study photography?
Yes, I took four years of photography at a vocational school here in St. Petersburg-from darkroom, enlargements, developing film, processing negatives for black/ white film and color, video editing and video shoots.

How long have you been a photographer?
Over 20 years.

How did you get into photography?
As a youth, I would pick up a camera and want to capture what I saw... from my perspective. It was invigorating to see the results.

What does being a photographer mean to you?
Being a photographer means being able to visualize a concept and work at capturing the full essence. It's telling a story or giving the viewer something to think about.

I noticed on your myspace profile that you are located in Florida. Must be nice to have so much beautiful scenery to incorporate in your photo sessions, huh?
I agree, Florida has it's perks. There is a wealth of scenery, from waterfronts to buildings and landscape. It allows for the creative juices to flow. Never a dull moment in the city. There is culture plus if you venture out into the rural areas, there's the "old time" look.

Is there anything in particular that you are aiming for when you go into a photo session?
I usually approach each set differently. I look at the assignment or task. Then I focus on the end results, that being good shots and a satisfied client.

What would you say is your biggest professional hang-up?
Great question. I'm a Virgo. Sometimes I seek perfection even though I know it is impossible. Don't get me wrong, I'm laid back so the pressure is definitely on me, not the subject or client. I see things that I could have shot at a better angle or better graphics etc. I am my worst critic.

How would you describe your style?
A touch of old school with a twist. Versatile. Creative.

How do you make your clients feel relaxed before a session?
Although I am a serious looking dude, I usually joke a bit just to break the ice yet still focused on the task at hand. I allow them to see the personal as well my professional side. A shoot should never be uptight. Since I shoot a lot of models, it is imperative all involved is comfortable. Usually I provide a comfortable vibe with music, juices, fruit, snacks, etc.

Do you feel that anyone can be a photographer or should one have an "eye" for it?
In today's world, everyone with a camera considers themselves a photographer. Technology has given many an opportunity to venture into the craft. I feel that if you are not creative or have the 'eye' for photography, either invest the time into the craft or find something else to do. It really makes being a photographer hard when you have to fix misconceptions brought on by novices or photographers that don't have a clue what their doing.

How you do prepare for a photo session?
Ummmm...preparation starts with music and creating my mental vibe, plus knowing what it is I am going to be shooting. Example: if it is a child, I make sure I have energy. Lol! So its a mental chess game. Whatever the task, I'm game.

Does your personality change when you look thru the lens?
Once I pick up my camera, I am in a zone. Women ask all the time, "How do you shoot women in all manner of dress and not get into what you are seeing? ". I tell them it's because I take my craft seriously; I am seeking an end result. A capture that stands the test of time. So the subject is just that, a subject. I am concerned with posing, lighting, angles, aperture etc. No time to take in the view if that makes sense.

What is the most surprising response you've received from your pictures?
Hmmm, surprising? After 20 years, nothing surprises me. Lol! Okay, let me see...once I shot some pictures of a young lady that had been scarred from a knife cut to the face. Very pretty young lady yet the scar stood out. Once the shoot was done and editing processed, she cried. So did her mother and grandmother.

If money was not an issue, what is the first thing you would do to enhance your business?
I would invest in a 25000 square ft studio in the heart of downtown and 20 acres of land out in the country with animals, tractors, trains, old cars and aircrafts. Just a live set.

Where do you plan to be professionally 5 years from now?
See the answer to the last question. Lol! I have goals.

What advice would you give other aspiring photographers?
Take each frame seriously and each subject to heart. Research your equipment; know it like you know yourself. Push the envelope and don't settle for what others think.

Do you have a message for the readers of this post?

I am often reminded of how lucky I am to be working with so many female clients. The playful fits of envy from my male peers can be quit amusing. Of course I enjoy the female form as much as any straight man can but when I pick up the camera it's a completely different kind of appreciation.

r> First I should say that photography was not my first form of artistic expression. It is actually a career choice. I've been a practitioner of the arts since the age of 8. I've created many original works with many mediums. Consequently, I've been a study of the human form for...well...let's just says a long time. So when I look at a female as a photographer, the artist in me is the only observer. And since I'm a photographer at least 10-12 hours per day, it's hard for me to look at a female from a non-artistic point of view. Now that's not to say that I'm never the googly eyed, fist biting typical male when I'm with my friends. I mean, I still know a nice butt when I see one. But even in those moments I still have an artistic appreciation that I know my friends don't understand.

When women come to the studio, I often sense the nervousness and fear especially if they're scheduled to shoot in something like a swimsuit or lingerie. Most have never photographed professionally before and on top of that they are about to get nearly naked in front of this "man"....with a camera... staring at them...looking at their private parts....noticing their flaws! Scary, I know. The biggest thought on their mind is "I wonder what's on his mind". It's hard for some to look at me outside of the typical male persona and strictly as a professional photographer. And it doesn't help that so many male photographers act like they're in a night club stalking their next one night stand instead of simply doing there job. (Oh...my bad, if they're acting like that it's not a job, it's a hustle.) Anyway, where was I?.... oh yeah....so they're wondering what I'm thinking. Some will even ask my partner while their getting their make-up done "Umm...Breezy, so...is he cool to shoot with?" She does her signature laugh and tells them, "Girl, he ain't thinkin' about you like that, nothing excites that man when he is holding that camera!" LOL...but she's right. So don't worry. If you've booked a session and you tell me that you want your pictures to be sexy, then I'm going to make sure they are just that. I may direct you to pose or express yourself in such a way to accomplish that goal. Just know that whatever I ask you to do is not for my personal enjoyment but to produce the images you requested. I have even had experiences with women that are very flirtatious while on set. Sorry ladies; it's not that you're unattractive, I'm just not looking at you with wanting eyes. Flirting with me isn't going to make your pictures better nor get you out of the money you owe so let's just get focused, shall we?

I put a lot of energy into making my female clients feel especially comfortable in front of my camera. For those photographing for the first time, the last thing they need is to have their nervousness amplified by perverted looks or comments from the person they are paying for the experience. Not only is this business, this is art. So yes, I am studying you...the same way an artist studies a subject before creating a masterpiece.

Just B...Confident

So I'm sitting at a model casting call now and as usual, this is always a sight to behold. This is also reminding me of the social profiles I come across online. Man, I don't even know where to begin but for the sake of this post I will try.

Sometimes I wish I could interview some of the young ladies that I see at these castings. I wish I could ask them, "What were you thinking about when you got dressed this morning and put on your makeup?" It's not that they look terrible. Actually they look very nice...just dressed for the wrong occasion. For example, why would you wear a flowing ankle length dress to a casting call for swimsuit/glamour models? Naturally, you are there to display your body. And to make matters worse, you didn't wear a swimsuit under your dress or even bring one to change into. *smh* That's not good ma'am. Here's another one. Why would you wear 2 pounds of makeup on your face to a casting call for a cosmetics line? See what I'm getting at? You have to dress for the job you want to get or at least come prepared to look the part. If you're not sure how you should dress, ask. Look for an email or phone number from a contact person involved with the casting. Be informed before you embarrass yourself.

THE most important thing you should take with you to a casting (and everywhere else for that matter) is confidence. Without this, it doesn't matter how you look if you don't carry yourself like a person of purpose. Now, I know we all have things we might be self-conscious about but having a general overall confidence about yourself is priceless...literally. I can't stress this enough.I will be completely honest with you, it was a long while before I gained confidence about myself. True indeed my mother always told me I was beautiful but I had to see it for myself. I used to be shy and extremely quiet, not a social butterfly at all. It wasn't until I reached my early twenties that I realized how unique everyone really was. That's when I embraced my individualism. I believe in God and believe that He made me exactly the way I am for a reason. There is and has been only one "me" and there will NEVER be another "me". EVER. There may be a lot of people like me but there will never be a duplicate. This is my truth and this is what I remind myself everyday. This is what makes me beautiful. The same applies to you!

So the next time you attend a model casting, hold your head high and be confident in who you are and what you are capable of doing. Don't let anything or anybody distract you from the very purpose you are there. Always present yourself in a professional manner and have a pleasant attitude. ;-)

Now, about the lovely ladies on online. Everyday I see girls on Twitter, Myspace and Facebook claiming to be the "baddest in the game", "your favorite model's favorite model" or something to that effect. See, when you make a statement like that the natural response from someone who sees that is, "Oh, I bet she ain't all that!" Then they click on your profile to see your pictures. Now, before they even see what you look like you've already tainted their perception of you. They are ready to find all kinds of faults and negatives about you simply because of what you said. True, you might be "drop dead gorgeous" but arrogance is a natural turnoff. Period. Nobody likes an arrogant person. The reality is, if you are really all that you claim to be, you don"t have to say it. Your work should speak for itself and believe me, people are looking at your work.

By no means is this post intended to offend or attack anyone. Because of the nature of my work, I'm privy to a lot of conversations with other industry professionals and the vote is unanimous: most aspiring models are naive, rude and extremely unprofessional. The good news is that is doesn't have to STAY that way. You can change how people view you. Yes, celebrities like Jay Z or P. Diddy may boast about what they do or how good they are at their craft but its for entertainment purposes. What works in the entertainment industry may not necessarily work in the modeling industry. Entertainers entertain. Models model. Ever heard the saying, "Shut up and model."? Lol! Unfortunately, there is some truth to that. A model's job is not to be excessively vocal about their skills. Their job is to simply model whatever it is they were hired to model. I'm not saying bragging and boasting will stop you from getting jobs (although in some cases it does) but your skills is what will get you jobs, not the proclamation of your skills. I hate to sound harsh but I am speaking the truth. Let your pictures and abilities do the talking. What you do will always speak louder than anything you will ever say.

This was tough love but it's love all the same. I am very aware that most of my readers are aspiring models and I want you all to know what is being said about you and how you are being viewed. Like I stated before, I want to reach out and help whoever I can...even if it's thru the pages of my blog.

Just B...Understanding

I meet all kinds of people everyday and I must admit...that's one of the perks of my job. Models, entertainers, makeup artists, music producers, graphic artists, school teachers, waitresses, bus drivers, bar tenders, etc. Each person from a different walk of life and totally unique experiences. My mama always told me and my sister, "Never judge someone by appearances. You never know what that person has experienced or what they have to go home to." I didn't have a full understanding of that as a child but now that I'm older, I comprehend exactly. Thank you mama for that life lesson!

What's the point I'm getting to? Well, every now and then I am graced with the presence of "divas" and "divos". Let me paint the picture for you. Ok, let's say I have a 2PM appointment on a Saturday afternoon. Normally, I'm hyped about doing makeup and shooting a new person. It's refreshing meeting new people and hearing about what's going on with them. It takes my attention off everything in my life and allows me to get into someone else. Honestly, sometimes my experiences aren't always so pleasant. For the sake of this story, let's call this particular client, "Sally". "Sally" comes to The Studio Concept for a photo shoot. First of all, she arrives late. I'm talking 2:30 late. You know, the kind of late when you don't know if the person is coming or not because they didn't call. Strike 1. That is a NEGATIVE. Not just at The Studio Concept but anywhere you go. (Side note: If you make any kind of business appointment and all parties involved have agreed to meet at a certain time, it is understood that not only will everyone be on time but that the said time was convenient for everyone. Sooooo....why are YOU late if there was no emergency besides the fact that you got stuck in traffic? If you live in a large metropolis, you should've already factored in traffic. Am I right? Don't shout me down 'cuz I'm preaching good!)

"Sally" is late for her photo session. Ok, I can get over that because I do understand that "life" happens. I remember that "Sally" booked a 1 look photo session but she brought her entire closet, every pair of shoes she owns and a nasty attitude. The clothes and shoes are expected. I know as a female we want to make sure we are prepared, right ladies? What I can 't understand is the attitude. For the Love of Ray J....WHY??? This is suppose to be a fun experience! So, after I wait for "Sally" to finish her phone conversation (oh, I forgot to tell you she came thru the door on her cell phone), I notice that she is carrying a McDonald's bag in one hand. OH JOY! So, not only is she late and rude but she is also hungry. That means she didn't get a chance to eat so now she expects me to do her makeup while she wolfs down her Big Mac combo. Strike 2.

"Sally" finally ends the call with her boyfriend (who else did you think she was talking to?), looks at me and asks, "Do you know how long this is gonna take because I have somewhere to be when I leave here. Just wanna make sure I have enough time but I don't wanna rush my shoot." (I see a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!) Strike 3.

I smile and reply, 'Hi, Sally! My name is B. Breezy. I will be your makeup artist as well as your photographer. Just let me know what time you need to leave and I will make sure we optimize your time while you're here." (*Pause* For those of you who might be confused by my response, let me explain something. "Sally" has already set the tone for her photo session. I can do one of two things: (1) be totally unprofessional and unleash "the beast" OR (2) take control of the situation and give her the "studio" experience she expected at the time she booked her session. I opted for the latter. Why? Well, as a business woman I can't underestimate "Sally". She might be the "mouthpiece" that brings in more business, feel me? I don't know who she knows or who she might tell about her experience at The Studio Concept. If I can help it, I will protect and save the reputation of my business.)

So she tells me she needs to leave by 5PM. Cool. That's feasible. We can do that. I politely ask her to give me an idea of what she wants to wear and what she had in mind for today's photo session. Immediately, her face lights up as she digs thru her suitcases, shoe boxes and bags of accessories. The tone changes. NOW, she and I are concentrated on her wardrobe. She explains how she wants to wear "something like Beyonce did in her video". Let's do it!

Ok, we have wardrobe decided. Now, for makeup. "Sally" takes a seat and looks nervously at the makeup spread out on the table beside her. She says, "You can do whatever you want on my face but I don't want any greens or purples on my eyes. It makes me look old." (Oh, how I love when clients come in and tell me how to do my job! It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside!!!) I want "Sally" to have a nice experience. No green or purple eyeshadow. Besides, there are plenty of other colors to choose from. And the magic happens. As I start on her makeup, I casually ask her about what she does and if modeling is something she's interested in. The heavens open up and "Sally" begins to sing like a bird. She tells me that she is 22 and in school for nursing. It's really hard for her because she's a single mom with no family here in Atlanta. She has a 2 year old that decided shortly before her photo session that he didn't want mommy to leave. This explains the conversation with the boyfriend. He was calling her for advice on how to make the little boy stop crying. I also learned that her mother is against her decision to pursue modeling so "Sally" is dealing with the stress of disappointing her mother. Her mother thinks modeling is a waste of time and that "Sally" should do something "real" with her life.

Makeup is finished! Time to get in front of the camera. "Sally" looks in the mirror and gushes about her makeup. (That is always a good feeling!) I notice that she is taking her time getting dressed almost like she's apprehensive about something. She's fussing with her clothes even though she looks fine. Finally, she approaches the set and asks me, "How do I look?" With a big smile and a dramatic nod of approval I say, "You look YUMMY! You ready, beautiful?" She giggles and walks nervously to the spot I point out to her. I take a couple of test shots to make sure my lighting is perfect. Once I'm satisfied, I give her a couple of tips to keep in mind while she is posing and she nods in agreement as she takes in my every word. Lights, camera, ACTION! She starts posing and I can tell she is nervous. I'm not surprised. In fact, I expected it. I pause and give her some words of encouragement and affirmation. She starts posing again...this time with more confidence. With each pose I see the progression and transformation from "Sally" to "the inner supermodel". Now, we are getting somewhere.

The shoot goes great and I'm actually excited about retouching her photos. By this time, her face is flushed with excitement and she can't stop talking about how much fun she had. I feel a sense of accomplishment! As she's packing, I explain to her the The Studio Concept's process on how she will get her pictures. (This is also the part where I take care of any balances due. I love my job but-er-ummm...gotta get my money!) She is on a natural high! She calls her boyfriend to check on her son and to her relief, she learns that he is no longer crying but is now fast asleep. She's grinning from ear to ear as she tells her boyfriend about her shoot. I can't really hear what he is saying but it seems like he is happy for her and wants to see the pictures. She hugs me and thanks me again before she leaves.

Later that night, I send her the proofs from her session. This is the reply email she sends me:

OMG!!! I love the pictures!!! Thank you so much!!! That was my first photo shoot. I didn't think I did good at all because I was so nervous. Thank you for helping me. You were right, I was over-thinking my poses instead of just doing them. I'm having a hard time choosing the ones I want retouched. How much does it cost for extra retouches? I'm sorry for going on and on. Lol! Thank you so much Breezy! I can't wait til you finish them!!!

Her boyfriend calls me the next day. Guess what? He wants to schedule a shoot because he needs pictures for his next music project. My phone rings an hour later. It's "Sally's" aunt. She has a modeling agency and she's been looking for a photographer. Guess who she wants to work with?

Now THAT was worth me keeping "the beast" caged and just keeping it Breezy. Remember this next time you have a similar experience...you never know what people are going thru or what they have to go home to. You might be the "breath of fresh air" they need that day. Let'em breathe deeply.

So...my wonderful business partner thought it would be a good idea for me to have a "corner" on her blog site. I agreed!:) Welcome to Page 14! I'd like to thank everyone that has supported The Studio Concept over the past 5 years. I have met some very interesting people and have made some really good fiends. I would especially like to thank and express my appreciation to my partner in crime, B. Breezy. Many times she has expressed her gratitude to me but I owe her more than she'll ever understand. TSC is my life and photography is my love. Her dedication to the creativity and the perfection of her crafts makes me proud to be her partner. Watching her work with a new client makes what was once a dream of TSC a reality. She is a BEAST both in front and behind the lens. She has changed the face and direction of the company in a way that demands dedication from all involved. In short, she don't play!

Breezy came to TSC as a client. She signed up for the portfolio development program. People...needless to say she amazed me. She was fearless and fierce. The picture below was the first image I released on B. Breezy as a spokes model. The positive response was overwhelming. The big question was, "Who is that girl with the short hair?!" The clients regarded her as the definintion of a model. TSC was reborn. I asked B. Breezy to be my partner shortly after. That was by far the best decision I have ever made along this journey.

B, you have given so much of yourself for this dream. More than blood, sweat and tears. You have shared your beauty; both inside and out with me and the world and for that I will be forever grateful. We should all be forever grateful. Thank you.

WELCOME TO MY CORNER!!! This is my private space to come and share my personal thoughts with you. My first message from my corner is sheer appreciation and gratitude to YOU! Ooooohhhh, I want to thank each and every one of you who have supported me thru my modeling and photographic career. *shoutin'* THANK YOU!!! Some of yall remember me from when I first started...and you're still cheering me on. You have no idea how much that means to me. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. From Myspace (my first love!) to Facebook and now Twitter, I have received so many warm wishes and positive messages; some I must admit have moved me to tears. It is truly a blessing to be able to do what I LOVE but to have those watching me appreciate what I do....words can't even begin to express how that feels.

It is always nice to receive encouragement from those around you. Sometimes you need it to help keep you going in the midst of challenges and setbacks. I feed on positive energy! That's why I purpose to return the favor because I never know if someone else might need to hear the right words from me; the very words that resonate in their soul and breathe life into what appears to be a dying dream. Soooo...how about I had a wonderful post planned for you guys. Pictures, video, the whole nine. Now, I still have the pictures but the video clip is a wrap. I can't rotate it (I accidentally recorded holding my phone sideways) so you'd have to look at it with your head titled and that's just not cool. If anyone reading this post knows how to rotate video clips on youtube.com, PUH-LEASE help me! I have a feeling I'm gonna do that again. *smh*

Moving right along, I love photography. It drives me; it motivates me. Like modeling, it gives me an outlet to push the envelope of creativity. What's truly satisfying though is having a subject that is just as energized as I am. I shot a Montster last week...literally. That's the name he goes by and he is HILARIOUS!!! Oh my goodness, he keeps me laughing on Twitter (that's where I met him initially) and the fun continues when you meet him in person. He is so much more than a barrel of laughs though. He's a power player, one you should keep an eye on. (This is where the video clip would be perfectly placed BUT....)

Music producer. Motivational speaker. Entrepreneur. Concept Model for The Studio Concept. And the list continues to grow. I truly enjoy shooting him. I never know exactly what direction we're going in until the very last minute....and I'm always pleased with the results.

There are so many things I can say about him. He's passionate, dedicated, ambitious and a quick study. I recently had the opportunity to shoot with this budding new talent and all I can say is, "Wow!" Every time he gets in front of the camera he leaves me speechless...not to mention the many female admirers that are drooling over his pictures daily. Lol! And this is just the beginning for him. Yes, he might be new to the modeling industry but it's only a matter of time before he is a household name. It's been a long time coming for the next great black male supermodel and I believe he has arrived. My prediction is that he will be the next Tyson Beckford. Ladies and gentlemen...meet C. Why should someone hire you as a model?
I am THE fresh new face in the industry. I'm appealing and versatile; I can fill all the different rolls designers and photographers are looking for.

What experiences have you had so far in modeling?
I am a promotional model for The Studio Concept and I've recently worked with J'Adore Magazine in Atlanta, GA.

If you could change anything about your life, what would it be?
I wouldn't change anything. I believe all things happen for a reason and thus far I have no regrets at all. All that I have accomplished and all the tribulations that have come my way have made me a better person and I'm still learning. That's life.

What motivates you?
PASSION motivates me. If I'm not passionate about something I will not have the urge or drive to give it 110%.

YES!!! I have traveled to several different countries because of sports and it's definitely a hobby I'd like to continue. If a modeling job requires me to travel, I'll be on the first flight.

Do you have any role models?
My role models are my parents because they taught me everything I know, whether they know it or not. Even today, I see them and envision what I want to be when I'm their age.

Ashley is the newest member of The Studio Concept family. She came to us about 2 months ago and she fits in perfectly with the rest of us goofballs! LOL! Tell me a little about yourself.
I am a self-motivated person, very open minded, fun, sexy, and energetic! I'm very passionate about modeling and the fashion industry. At the end of the day, I'm always looking at the positive side of things.

What qualities do you feel a successful model should have in this industry?
Personality. Don't just be average, create a distinctive look about yourself. Be able to grow and be very flexible with your direction.

How would you know you were successful?

If your modeling career was not successful, what would you do?
If modeling didn't go as far as I hoped then I would continue with my nursing career.

What is your greatest accomplishment to date?
My greatest accomplishment was completing my 2009/2010 swim suit calendar and becoming a member of The Studio Concept family.

What are your long-range goals and objectives?
I want to be a "supermodel"! Lol! It doesn't mean I have to be "larger than life". I just want to be known worldwide as a model. I would like to manage my own modeling agency or be a part of an agency for high fashion models, reaching out to young men and women with dreams and hopes like me.

Would you ever consider having plastic surgery?
If it was something within reason I might but I'm happy and confident with my current look.

How does your choice of career affect your personal life?
I have a son so I don't want to look back on my life in 5 years and say, "I shouldn't have done that." I think about my future and my family with every choice I make.

Have you ever been discouraged while pursuing modeling? If so, how did you overcome that?
Yes, when I first started. I questioned, "Who will notice me?", "Will I make it?", "Will someone give me a chance?" I just stay positive, committed and prayed up. I try to never let my faith get weak, that's how I overcome my discouragement.

What do you know about this industry?
I am still learning the "game" of modeling everyday but I read and surf the internet about the modeling industry all the time. There's so much out there! Modeling to me is about money, structure, image and the critique of being a model on a daily basis.

Why do you think you would succeed as a model?
I have been given the perfect opportunity to develop my talent in modeling. I will take what I have learned and apply my skills to build my way to the top. Its all a process and I'm determined to get there.

Do you have any limitations? How far would you go?
Right now my limitations are endless. I will go as far as I can as long as whatever I'm doing is "neat and classy". I want to always uphold a positive image.

After careful consideration, I've decided to take my blog in a different direction...just slightly. Yes, I will still be highlighting models, photographers, etc. in the industry and giving modeling tips. You know, the usual. Lol! But in addition to all the normal goodies, I also want to highlight some of the wonderful clients I get to work with. I have the pleasure of meeting soooo many exciting people and I want to introduce them to you!

This past Saturday, I shot an internet celebrity. No, seriously! Just google "Mogeezie" if you don't believe me. This man is everywhere! The funny thing is, he didn't even know just how much of a celebrity he was until I showed him. Lol! I met him via Myspace a couple of years ago. He is such a sweetheart and he has a great sense of humor. I think he is definitely someone to look out for because he's full of surprises and he doesn't disappoint. Readers...meet Mogeezie.

What do you do?
I am a self made marketing & promoting machine!

Where are you located?
I'm In my hometown Augusta, GA.

You told me that you now work with models. What exactly is your goal for this project?
My goal for this project is to seek out unknown models with potential that have the ambition and dedication. I want to help manage, market and promote them.

Is it difficult finding serious models to work with?
Yes it really is because not all have the resources and connections. Some might even lack the knowledge and know-how to get themselves out there. Then there are a few who don't believe they can go all the way but I'm here to prove that anything is possible if you are driven, motivated and ambitious!

How long have you been a promoter and why did you choose this path?
I've been promoting since 2006. I decided to try my hand at it after getting feedback from my friends on Myspace and local clubs here in Augusta.

What are some challenges you've dealt with so far?
The main challenge was getting people to believe that I could actually do it. There are a lot of doubters and disbelievers! Other challenges stem from people who want me to promote them to pay them because of their disbelief but I have proven time and time again that I can do it!

What do you see yourself doing 5 years from now?
Honestly, I haven't really thought that far in advance about details. I'm setting goals for myself daily. I do hope to be well known for my achievements and be an inspiration to others letting them know that you can do whatever you set your mind to!

What is your ultimate goal in life?
My ultimate goal is to know that I have reached my maximum potential and I want to continue doing what I do WELL. *In my Drake voice" I just wanna be successful!

I've noticed that you travel a lot. What's the purpose for your cross country trips?
My purpose for traveling is to experience the world. There's nothing more exciting then going somewhere you've never been. I love meeting new people that I network with daily over the internet. You can speak with someone everyday online or on the phone but you can't really say you know that person until you've met them face to face.

Obviously you have the opportunity to meet lots of people. What is your most memorable encounter?
I will be totally honest. My most memorable moment was the day I met you and Photographer G14. I can just about recall everything that happened that day: from the drive to Atlanta to being anxious about meeting you and even being more excited to see the pictures you took of me!

If you could go back in time to see or change something, when would it be and what would you do?
I would change the fact that I didn't properly plan ahead when I was in my teens. I was living the fast life in the streets. After losing my sister (Sherrie Lebelle Hall) in a car accident and then becoming a father to my oldest daughter (Natalyia Imani Hall), my aspect on life changed completely. I want to be there for my daughter and I regret not being there for my family when they needed me the most.

What individuals or companies would you like to work with?
I'm open to work with anyone who will be just as loyal to me as I would be to them. I've had the opportunity to work along side you and Photographer G14 so The Studio Concept is definitely a company I would love to continue to work with!

What motivates you?
My motivation comes from seeing others succeed. That's why I try to stay connected to positive and ambitious people! I can't imagine myself being anything other than a success.

What do you do in your free time?
I like to play basketball with friends and family or just watch movies. I can be a homebody sometimes unless I have something important to do...then I'm out and about!

Do you consider yourself a leader or a follower? Why?
I consider myself a full-fledged leader! My name speaks for itself: Moses. I was brought up to be a leader. My dad, Nubian T. Amon-Ra, installed leadership qualities in me like a hard drive on a Mac book! LOL! Yes, I'm a leader!

Does your choice of career affect your personal life? If so, how?
Yes, most people around me don't understand what I do until I show them. Many think I'm wasting my time...disbelievers I say. For the most part, I get a lot of support!

What can the masses expect to see from you soon?
All I can say is, "Expect the unexpected!" I have my hands in everything!

The Studio Concept Model Development Class

Hello, again! If you are familiar with me and what I do, you already know that I am a model, photographer and makeup artist for The Studio Concept (a photography studio in Atlanta, GA). Now what some may NOT know is that I am also a model coach. My partner (G14) and I teach a model training class and I absolutely LOVE it! The modeling and fashion industry has always been a passion of mine. I love everything about it! This love I have for the industry is what pushed me into photography and makeup artistry.

Anyway, back to the model coaching part. Lol! Like I stated earlier, I love what I do! It has always been my desire to someday reach a point where I can help others and I strongly believe God has given me that opportunity. The years I spent at my first agency taught me a TREMENDOUS amount of valuable information. Now, I want to pass it along to other aspiring models because I remember the feeling of wanting this (modeling) so bad but not knowing where to start or what to do. Thus, the birth of the model class.

This class covers various topics such as industry standards and ethics, preparing for a casting, building your portfolio and online presentation and promotion. They also learn runway walking, posing, participate in acting classes and they have monthly photo sessions to continually build their portfolio. Yes, the class is fun BUT we are all about business. Your Photo Session...But Not Your Pictures

PICTURES, PICTURES, PICTURES!!! *deep breath* I have to address this subject because honestly most people (especially aspiring models) do not understand the copyright law pertaining to professional photographers. With that being said....here goes.

A photographer, by FEDERAL law, owns every picture that he or she takes. Period. Please understand that just because you pay for a photo shoot does NOT mean you own your images. When you pay a photographer for a photo session, you are only paying for their services. A photographer has the right to express how they want their images used and they can even exact a time frame on the usage of those images. For this very reason, you must understand a photographer's terms BEFORE you step in front of the camera. Not all photographers operate the same so make certain you know exactly how you may use your images prior to your session.

Now, I know you might be thinking, "That's unfair!". Unfair or not, that's the law. It's no different than if you took pictures on a family vacation. By law, you own those images and by law you have the right to legally pursue anyone who uses your images without your permission. The same applies to professional photographers. If you use a photographer's images without their permission or in any way that exceeds the boundaries of the agreement, you are breaking the law. It's called copyright infringement.

The purpose of my blog is to help educate aspiring models. I posted a link below to better help you understand this post. Please read this article so that you know for yourself; don't take my word for it. The biggest mistake that aspiring models make is not knowing how the industry works. Read. Ask questions. Sexy femininity...the kind that oozes when she walks across the room.

Amber Strozier is a vision of beauty. Believe me when I say her pictures don't do her justice. She's even more beautiful in person. Working with her these past couple of years has been a privilege. I've seen her grow and mature not only as a model but also as a woman. She has a heart of gold and the future is definitely looking bright for her. I present you....Amber Strozier.

What interests you about being a model?
I can learn from it and grow with it. It's so many things a model can do as long as he or she has the drive for it.

When did you realize you wanted to become a model?
Growing up, I found out my mother was a model. I would look at her pictures every day and I loved all the different looks. The fact that she was a runway model was great because I knew she had to have a certain confidence being on the runway. I fell in love with modeling and it had my attention ever since.

Who are your influences?
My mother, actresses Regina King and Taraji P. Henson and model B. Breezy. She puts so much into her work and it comes out so sexy and fabulous.

What important goals have you achieved in the past year?
Being in school has always been a big goal. I've done a few projects such as videos for V.I.C, "Wobble", LaMarvin, "Too Many Patrons", Cutie of the Week for 107.9 in Atlanta, GA and various flyers and websites.

How do you handle stress and pressure?
I love to write poems, it brings out deep emotions in me.

What have you done to improve your knowledge about this industry within the last year?
I've met with different people in the industry, looked at various tv shows and I stay up to date with online fashion news.

What do you do in your free time?
I'm always with friends and family. I love shopping; it sometimes helps relieve stress. Lol! I go out to clubs occasionally but most of the time I'm at home watching tv.

What advice would you give someone who wants to pursue modeling as a career?
You must be willing to put in the time and patience and surely know that it's something you want to do. Always do your best in all things and never let people hold you back or talk you out of your dream.

She is such a sweetheart. Her name fits her perfectly. Beautiful, goofy (I love that about her!) and talented...doesn't get much better than this. It has truly been a pleasure to work with such a fantastic spirit. She is the life of the party and so painfully shy all at the same time. To know her is to love her. It is my pleasure to introduce you to Charity Nicole.

Are you seriously pursuing modeling as a career or is it more of a hobby?
Although I am just starting, I would love to make modeling a career. I really love the whole aspect of the business.

What interests you about being a model?
The fact that I can not only be myself but I can become a different person and it allows me to step out of my comfort zone.

What kind of model do you want to be?
The sky is the limit; I don't want to limit myself to just one area.

What does the word "model" mean to you?
A model to me is someone worthy of imitation. It means being unique not only in your pictures but in your everyday life. Modeling is a lifestyle not just a career.

The most important is that I jump started my modeling career which I am so proud of myself for doing.

What is your greatest strength/weakness?
My strength would be that I am well motivated and that I have the ability to take direction well. I am a perfectionist and sometimes I'm too hard on myself which could also act as a weakness.

What motivates you?
When someone tells me that I can't do something it gives me the motivation to go harder!!!

How do you handle stress and pressure?
I try to take a step back and re-evaluate the situation and not let it get to me. I take that pressure and use it to my advantage to make myself stronger as a person and as a model.

What do people most often admire about you?
People often admire my ambition and my constant strive for success.

What do you feel is your best physical attribute?
My breasts, lol! ;-)

What have you done to improve your knowledge about this industry within the last year?
I do a lot of reading because this is a very fast paced industry and fashion changes so rapidly. I also watch shows such as "Americas Next Top Model" because it allows me to learn about what other models have to go through.

Which magazine is your favorite?
Vogue.

Do you have a workout plan? If so, how often do you exercise?
I really don't have a workout plan, lol! I'm naturally small so my main goal is to maintain my weight by doing cardio and crunches at least 3 times a week.

What are your beauty secrets?
REST, lol!

With so many aspiring models in this industry, what makes you different?
My drive is different! When I set my mind on something I really want, I go after it and I always strive for the best.

What advice would you give someone who wants to pursue modeling as a career?
My advice is make sure it is something that you want to do. Know that this business is not just about being able to take a nice photo but it is something that takes hard work, dedication, and consistency.

Branding Yourself
Do you have an uncommon physical attribute that sets you apart from others? It may be an eccentric hairstyle (or hair color for that matter!), extremely long legs, extraordinary eyes, bold personality or freakishly big hands! LMAO! Whatever it is, use it to your advantage! Tyra is known for her eyes. Giselle Bundchen, her back. Cindy Crawford, her mole. There is something unique and beautiful about each and every one of us. Find out what your remarkable beauty is and PUSH IT! If you're not quite sure what "it" is, listen to the compliments that others say about you. They view you in a totally different light than you see yourself. For me, my haircut and my legs seem to draw the most attention when others make comments about my photos or meet me in person.

Ok now that you know what makes you unique, the next step is to introduce yourself to the public. Let people know who you are! I will say this time and time again...use the internet to your advantage! Its the biggest audience you can have plus the majority of the time its absolutely free. Join social networking communities, get a website, write a blog. This is all in addition to attending castings and submitting your pictures for modeling gigs. Do whatever you have to do but ALWAYS be professional. Now while I am on this subject, let me point something out. If you are are trying to get the attention of fashion industry professionals, talent scouts and agencies...why in the world would you make your profile PRIVATE??? The internet is so vast and broad; you will always have people watching you. The thing is you never know exactly WHO is watching you. I can't begin to tell you how many models I come across who have private profiles on social networking sites. It's a deterrent to someone who may want to know about you or even view your pictures. If you want to have a personal private page, then keep that totally separate from your BUSINESS page. I strongly advise that you not make your business page private. Keep your doors open for opportunity!!!

Building Your Portfolio
It has come to my attention that most aspiring models don't believe they should pay photographers for photo sessions. Why they think that is far beyond me but apparently this is a common perception. There's absolutely nothing wrong with shooting with photographers for free but please understand, that most of the time you will pay for what you get. Honestly, you can't expect much if your not willing to pay for a photographer's services. Browse through the portfolios of various photographers and compare not only the different styles of photography but also the QUALITY of the images. You may not have realized this but you know excellent quality images when you see them. They're used all the time in magazines, on billboards, etc. This is the barometer by which I judge a photographer's work...including my own. I strive daily to make my work meet the standards of well-known publications. You have to understand that your port represents WHO you are as a model and WHAT you are capable of doing. If you have poor images in your portfolio that doesn't look good. If you are just starting with your modeling career, aim to shoot with a photographer that will (a) give you good quality images and (b) help you with posing while you're on set. Now, it's not entirely on the photographer to pose you. Have a base set of poses to work from and expand from there. If you're practicing everyday like you should then varying in your poses should not be difficult. Another thing to remember, do poses based on what the project is. For example, if you are doing a glamour shoot of course you won't be doing fashion poses unless that is what the photographer is going for.

Don't know where to look for a photographer in your area? Websites such as modelmayhem.com, onemodelplace.com and modelcoast.com have made this task quite simple. These are online fashion communities where models can meet photographers as well as makeup artists, fashion stylists and more. You can browse by zip code, state and professional title. It's free to sign-up so try it out. Good luck!

Use Your Available Resources
It amazes me how aspiring models claim to watch "America's Next Top Model" religiously but then turn around and go about their own personal modeling career like an amateur. I'm not saying you should know everything about modeling just by watching that show but let's be honest, there's a great deal of information to be learned just by listening to Tyra's tips. She is a PROFESSIONAL model so naturally she knows what she is talking about. Please don't be naive about the resources already made available to you. Of course her show is not the only place to find help. There's also plenty of books you can read and videos you can watch. Again, the internet is loaded with free available resources to use...USE THEM. Educate yourself about the ins and outs of the industry so you can lessen your chances of getting scammed out of money and your precious time.

B. Breezy Modeling Tips: Part 1

I'm going to just dive in and tackle this subject because I get so many questions about it. Ok, so you want to be a model, right? Well there are some things you need to know. Many of you don't know where to start and that's perfectly understandable. I had no clue when I first started either. Below are some points that I would like to elaborate on.

Attitude
The first step to becoming a model is your attitude. It's so much more than getting your makeup done and taking pictures. YOU HAVE TO WORK...on and off set. If this is something you truly believe you want to do then you must take on the "all-or-nothing" attitude. Everything you do should be towards furthering your modeling career: the way you walk, talk and conduct yourself (even online) affect all you do. The reality is (a) this is NOT a career that is typically long-lived so you have to make your mark FAST and HARD and (b) you are one of millions aspiring to be the same thing. Now I didn't say that to discourage you but once you realize what you're up against, you'll see there is no room for half-stepping or straddling the fence.

Another thing to keep in mind is that modeling is a rough business. You have to be able to take criticism and correction without getting upset, giving in to discouragement or feeling like you're being attacked. Learn to listen to WHAT people say and not HOW they say it. You don't have time to be sensitive and get your feelings hurt. Develop a "thick skin" and keep pushing. Do self-evaluations and be honest with yourself about where you stand as a model and how you can improve. NEVER assume that you have it all together because there is always room for improvement...always. I live by the saying, "I am my only competition". I believe that if I'm constantly improving myself I'm already steps ahead of some of the models around me. Why? Because most of them are focusing on what others are doing instead of improving themselves and solidifying their place in the industry as a unique individual. Yes, be very aware of what others are doing but at the end of the day ask yourself, "Am I a better model today than I was yesterday?"

It's ok to have a likable personality! Lol! The last thing you want to be is obnoxious, over-bearing and a flat out pain in the butt especially when you want to get hired for modeling jobs. Your reputation precedes you. What you will quickly find out is that in the modeling industry, word travels fast...good or bad. Photographers, makeup artists, fashion designers, etc talk about the models they've worked with, the ones they would like to work with and even the ones they would never work with. As a model, you are a walking business. Practice good "customer service" even when those around you don't. You never know who is watching you and who may be waiting for that perfect opportunity to work with you. Your personal life should not co-mingle with your business. No one needs to know about what you and your boyfriend are going through or that you're feeling lonely because you're single or how many people are "hating" on you. Reality is, nobody really cares about the drama in your personal life...it's just good entertainment if you decide to share it. I know that sounds harsh but it's the truth. You aren't getting hired to handle your "personal"; you get hired to handle your "business". If people see too much "personal" going on, it's a safe assumption that you are going out of "business ". People who are about their "business" will not wantt to get involved with your "personal".

Physical Appearance
*Taking a deep breath* This next segment is for males and females but directed especially to the ladies. So let's assume you have the drive and tenacity to pursue modeling. The next question is: DO YOU LOOK LIKE A MODEL? I'm not asking if you're pretty or not because honestly, not all models are thought to be attractive by the general public. Some are hired because they have a distinctive look or attribute about them that a client believes could sell their product. What I'm asking is can you look at yourself naked in the mirror and honestly say you are in model shape? If not, YOU NEED TO EXERCISE! It's just that simple. Even professional plus size models are in shape! I know exercising is not easy. I have to do it also because I like to eat...a lot. Lol! However it is expected of me to keep my body in shape. So applies the same expectation to you if modeling is what you say you want to do. Like I stated earlier, there are millions of aspiring models around the globe and some already have awesome bodies. The least you can do is get yourself in shape to better your chances of success. Oh yeah...your hair, skin and nails should also be healthy and well-groomed. Gotta have the total package!

I couldn't believe it even though I was looking at it with my own two eyes. Dresses made entirely of quality test rejected condoms??? Yes, CONDOMS. There really are endless possibilities when it comes to fashion...and Adriana Bertini is proving her creative genius is undeniable.

Now before you start wrinkling your nose and asking, "WHO would wear that?", the answer is no one really. These dresses are not made to be worn by anyone but the models in her fashion shows. The 35 year Brazilian artist seeks to raise awareness of and inspire the use of condoms, and the prevention of AIDS. "Condoms must be basic like a pair of jeans and so necessary like a great love," stated Bertini.

Supermodel: Tyson Beckford

There are so many amazing models to write about...men and women. Unfortunately, the male models don't get the same coverage as their female counterparts but every now and then one comes along that demands everyone's attention. Among male fashion models, there are few better known than him. What would my blog be without the incredibly handsome and talented Tyson Beckford?

Tyson Craig Beckford was born on December 19, 1970 in the Bronx New York to a Black Jamaican father of Afro-Panamanian descent and a mother of Afro-Jamaican and Chinese heritage-which explains his exotic looks. He grew up in Rochester, New York and Jamaica. Tyson was a member of his high school football and track teams, and it has been reported that early in his life, he was involved in gangs, drugs and theft. Tyson admits that sooner or later his fate would have been incarceration but fortunate for him, he had a grand stroke of luck.

In 1991, he was recruited to hip hop magazine "The Source" by talent scout, Jeff Jones, who met him by chance in a New York park. Jones advised Beckford that he should pursue a career in modeling and he was soon signed to a New York modeling agency. Within months, Beckford was shooting with well known fashion photographer and occasional filmmaker, Bruce Weber. Weber introduced Tyson to Ralph Lauren and in 1993, he signed a two-year exclusive contract as the face of the the company's sport, fragrance and body lines. Tyson went on to grace the covers and appear in multiple page spreads of major magazines such as Paper, Essence, Vogue, GQ, New York Times, Details, Men's Health and Vibe. He has also starred in print ad campaigns for Tommy Hilfiger, Gucci, Calvin Klein and Guess.

Beckford's supermodel status continued to rise in 1995 after he was named VH1's "Model of the Year" and one of People Magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People in the World". He came to prominence as one of the most respected and well-known male supermodels. Known internationally for his muscular physique, facial structure and tattoos, he is reported to be one of the highest paid and richest male supermodels in the world. In response to Lindsey Lohan's desire to be a model, Beckford stated: "Ask anyone - it's a lot harder than it looks. I guess that's why they call us supermodels - we make it look easy. But it's not as easy as it looks, so I wish her all the best." (Us Magazine, March 2009)

Beckford is also pursuing a film career and has taken acting classes to perfect the trade. His film credits include "Punks", "Into The Blue", "Zoolander", "Biker Boyz", "Hotel California", "Kings of the Evening", "Boricua's Bond", "Shottas", "Pandora's Box", "Gas", "Searching for Bobby" and "Dream Street". He also starred in Toni Braxton's video, "Unbreak My Heart", 50 Cent's "21 Questions" and Britney Spears "Toxic". His other music video appearances were for Mia X, Notorious B.I.G. and Shaquille O'Neal. Television audiences were already familiar with him after having appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Rosie O'Donnel, Vibe, The Magic Hour, Keenan Ivory Wayans, Mad TV, Entertainment Tonight, VH1, Good Morning America, E! Entertainment, Video Soul and Teen Summit.

In June 2005, Beckford was hit with a near death experience when he was injured in a car accident near his home. His vehicle caught fire but he was able to pull himself out before it became fully engulfed in flames. The accident had a tremendous effect on his spirituality and he later talked about his experience on the Oprah Winfrey show.

Clearly the females aren't the only ones making a name for themselves in the fashion industry. I can't think of ONE woman in the USA who doesn't know who Tyson Beckford is! LOL! His name instantly conjures up images of piercing dark eyes, chiseled muscles and perfectly placed tattoos. With attributes like that, how could he go wrong? With a resume longer than the Nile (and he's constantly adding to it!) and a will of steel, we can expect to see plenty more of him. He is not just a gorgeous face but he is a SUPERMODEL in every sense of the word-more like SUPERMAN.

Roshumba Williams is clearly a trendsetter. I've always loved her style! Tall, graceful, beautiful and elegant...undeniably attractive with a personality to match. Her trademark is her short natural hairstyle. In an industry where wigs and hair pieces are part of daily life, Roshumba insisted on wearing her hair short and more importantly natural. I admire her for being different especially when at the start of her career, her hairstyle was not the "in" thing. Roshumba helped usher in the uncommon look of dark skin and short hair for models after her. Before there was Alek...there was Roshumba.

Williams began her modeling career when she moved to Paris in 1987. She was advised that because of her exotic look, slender frame and long legs that she should she go to a market where girls like her get modeling jobs. At the tender age of 19, she left her home town of Peoria, Illinois to pursue her dreams of being a model. After only 2 days of go-sees, she was signed to an agency and shortly there after hired by noted fashion designer, Yves Saint Laurent, as a fit model. Saint Laurent used her body to perfect fits for pieces of his collections and placed her in his haute couture fashion show. This opportunity gained Williams great exposure and her reputation of having good work ethics as well as individualism spread quickly. She acquired jobs with high-end clients such as Christian Dior, Chanel, Versace, Armani, Chantal Thomass, Giorgio Armani, Michael Kors, Gianfranco Ferre, Cover Girl, Maybelline and Samsung. She also did multiple ad campaigns for Clairol and Hanes Hosiery. She started to attract attention of magazine editors and graced the covers and pages of Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Glamour, Essence and Cosmopolitan. Her most celebrated accomplishment was her appearance in the coveted Sports Illustrated magazine in the early 1990s. Williams was the first featured African-American in four consecutive issues (from 1990 to 1994) of the Swimsuit Edition. In addition to this already growing list of achievements, she was a Victoria's Secret angel appearing in fashion shows and catalogues. This woman was everywhere so it was no surprise that she soon became a household name across America.

Williams took the modeling world by storm but she didn't stop there! It was also during the 1990s she took on the role of actress and made her first appearance on the silver screen in Robert Altman's "Pret-a-Porter" in 1994. Supermodel. Actress. TV Host. What other title can Roshumba Williams possibly hold? Well, she is also an author. In 1999 she published her first book, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Being a Model with Penguin Publishing, USA. It became a top seller in its category and in 2007, she released a second edition of the book. (Definitely check this out...a must read for all models!)

Judging from her track record, I wouldn't be surprised if she conquers yet another area. Roshumba Williams has definitely made a mark in this industry and some even say she is one of the greatest supermodels of all time. What do I believe? I believe she is just simply... Wonder Woman.

Are you seriously pursuing modeling as a career or is it more of a hobby?
To be honest at first it was something that I was unsure of and more of a hobby. However recently it has become a passion of mine.

What interests you about being a model?
The experience. I think being a model would be the experience of a life time. We only have one life to live and I'm a firm believer that we should live it to the fullest.

What kind of model do you want to be?
So far I have only done hair modeling and I've enjoyed it very much. I would also enjoy getting into fashion.

What does the word "model" mean to you?
It means someone that others look up to and respect.

When did you realize you wanted to become a model?
Every since I was a little girl I've had many people tell me they loved my curly hair and big dimples and that I should consider modeling. However, for most of my childhood I was more interested in acting and now my goal is to start doing commercials. I feel modeling would be a wonderful step in that direction.

Who are your influences?
Audrey Hepburn hands down. I find her inspiring and fascinating. Her life story reconfirmed my profound desire to take after her. She was beautiful in every way-inside and out. She was humble, kind- hearted and walked in excellence in every area of her life. She wanted to make people smile and that's what I want to be said about me when I leave this world, that I brought a bit of happiness to someone's life and something I did was able to make them smile. One of my favorite Audrey Hepburn quotes is, "I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles."

Sophia Loren is another influence. She is a classic beauty that will last throughout time. I would also have to say Marilyn Monroe. I feel Marilyn was never given the full credit she deserved. I believe in my heart she wasn't a "dumb blond " but a very smart and strong woman that knew exactly what she wanted out of life. It was the public that gave her the "blond " label; she lived in a "man's world " and was going to do whatever it took to see her dreams come true. She has so many wonderful quotes that I would almost say you could live by, like this one: "I want to grow old without facelifts...I want to have the courage to be loyal to the face I've made. Sometimes I think it would be easier to avoid old age, to die young but then you'd never complete your life, would you? You'd never wholly know you." Who says that anymore? I think it must take real beauty and confidence to face growing old and not fight it. My favorite quote of hers is, "I 'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes and I 'm out of control and at times, hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best. " She had the courage and ability to speak her mind. My last influence is none other than Coco Chanel. How could she not be? She was strong willed, didn&apost take "no " for an answer, lived out her dream and left behind a legacy that will forever exist. My favorite quote from her is, "A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous."

Why are these women such an influence in my life? They never gave up; they came from nothing, accomplished their dreams and let no one or nothing stand in their way. These women are classic and will never be forgotten. They are everything I dream of becoming.

Are you willing to travel?
Yes. I want to go everywhere and see everything in this beautiful world.

Who is your role model?
My mother. She is kind, gentle and yet the strongest woman I have ever met.

What would you like to be doing five years from now?
I see myself as a talk show/ tv host.

How do you feel about being a part of an industry that is mainly based on physical appearance?
I believe that we are each given talents. If the camera loves you, then who are you to deny it?

What motivates you?
Coffee, lol!

How much I'm willing to go the extra mile to help someone. I have been called a "worrier" before.

My smile! I love to smile. I think Audrey Hepburn said it best when she said she believes that happy girls are the prettiest girls.

I'm working and going to school to become an art teacher.

I'm naturally thin yet I try to work out a few times a week to stay that way. Right now I'm trying to drop a few pounds, I love to walk my puppy and work out at the gym but the gym is not now or will ever be my life. Also I love food and I believe that life is too short to spend it miserable on a diet.

What are your beauty secrets?
Lots of sleep, stay away from stress, always tell the truth and never stop smiling.

What do you do in your free time?
I love to paint, spend time with family and play with my puppy.

Porsha came to The Studio Concept last year as a client with hopes and dreams of becoming a model. Modeling is my life. I can't imagine doing anything else. I tried the 9-5 and it's just not meant for me. I love fashion and everything that this industry has to offer. Making it is not easy but I'm here to endure it all.

What experience do you have in the modeling industry?
I've done fashion, hair and swim wear shows, promotional modeling and artistic paintings.

Why should someone hire you as a model?
I'm very devoted to whatever project I'm involved in. I'm willing to work hard and try new things. I bring personality, class, and charisma. Clients will never find another Taylor Monaa! The way I work is a style of my own.

I agree! Do you have any limitations? How far would you go?
I do have limitations; I don't do erotic nudes. I'm extremely choosy in the type of nude or implied work I do and with whom I choose to photograph with.

In what ways do you think you can make a contribution to this industry?
Most girls my height and shorter are categorized as "urban models". I want to go beyond the urban category. I want to do runway, high fashion and commercial. I want to go beyond the norm and show other girls that it's not impossible. I want to be known as the girl that can do it all.

What qualities do you feel a successful model should have in this industry?
A successful model should be able to broaden his/her horizons by trying new things. They should be dedicated, have character, be outgoing and willing to work hard. Modeling is not as easy as it looks.

Are you willing to travel for an assignment?
Yes!

What is your greatest accomplishment to date?
I pride myself on everything I've done so far. Right now I'm at a pivotal point of my modeling career. My photos are becoming more daring and I'm showing more skin. However, I would have to say that my greatest accomplishment so far was being a lead model for the L'Adeen Swimwear Gala in Montgomery, Alabama.

If your modeling career was not successful, what would you do?
I believe my modeling career will be successful but I know that nothing good lasts forever. I'm also studying Business Management at Alabama State University. I plan to open a performing arts school. I have a passion for the art of dance and I'm an all around good performer.

What advice would you give other aspiring models?
It's not always glitz and glamour in this business. Sometimes you have to get your hands dirty and put yourself on the line. Through it all, keep pursuing your dreams and let nothing steer you away. Also, don't do your talent for free!

She is only 4'11 but like the saying goes, "big things come in little packages". In her case, that is so true.

Janay Monique is the Booking Manager at The Studio Concept AND serves as personal assistant to G14 and me. I know how demanding it can be working for us and with us. We are perfectionists but Janay handles us like a pro. In addition to that, she is also a promotional model for the company. Like me, she also enrolled in the model development program here at the studio. Over the past couple of years I've watched her grow not only as a model but also as a young woman and I've grown quite fond of her! I'm sure you will too after you read this interview. ;-)

Are you seriously pursuing modeling as a career or is it more of a hobby?
Modeling to me is something that comes as an enjoyment. It's fun and I love doing it! With that being said, I am interested in pursing it as a career. I would be getting paid to do something I love! :)

What kind of model do you want to be?
Commercial.

What interests you about being a model?
The most interesting thing is the fact that I am able to step outside of "me " and become a different character.

What does the word "model" mean to you?
A model is someone who is able to adapt in every situation and have the ability to be more than just the person in front of the camera. You should be identified as a model without having to tell someone; it should be evident in the way that you carry yourself. Modeling is a lifestyle not just a career!

When did you realize you wanted to become a model?
I realized I wanted to model when I was 17. I started becoming more interested in fashion and wanted to learn everything I could about the business.

Why should someone hire you as a model?
I am a fast learner and I have the ability to adjust well in any situation! I'm motivated and work well under pressure.

Why do you think you would succeed as a model?
Modeling is something that I love doing and it is what I am passionate about! Passion equals success!

Do you have any limitations? How far would you go?
I have no limitations at this point...as long as it'stasteful.

Have you ever been discouraged in the pursuit of your modelingcareer?
Actually I have! More than once. Lol! You just have to keep focused on what YOU want; it is not up to anyone else to decide how to live your life. I stay strong and positive. You get one life and nobody can live it but YOU!

In what ways do you think you can make a contribution to this industry?
I am a FRESH new face. This industry needs something different than what it has now. I like to think that I am different and that I am an open canvas, ready and eager to learn. I feel as if I can open doors for many people like me to become successful in this industry.

How do you prepare for a modeling job?
I like to be given a "character". If I understand what my attitude should be for an assignment, I just take myself to that place (mentally) and that's it! I'm in the zone!

How would you know you were successful?
For me success does not only come from the amount of money that you make. When you can look back on all the goals that you set for yourself and see that you have accomplished each one...that's success.

What advice would you give someone who wants to pursue modeling as a career?
Stay focused and determined on your dream. Do not let any one tell you that you can not do something. Take all negatives and turn them into positives. Do not concentrate on the competition! Stay in your lane and become your own competition. Attempt to out-do yourself and not compete with others! This industry is hard work and takes time and effort. Make sure you always do your research before working with different agents and photographers. Ask questions and seek someone that you find trustworthy to give you good advice.

Types of Modeling: Promotional

Promotional models (also known as Trade Show or Showroom models) are used at conventions and trade shows (i.e., an auto show). Merchants hire these models to greet customers, hand out product samples and talk to them about the product offered. The idea is that attractive people will sell the concept of a product. Promotional models must have a beautiful smile, white teeth and a great personality. These models can be seen demonstrating products from automobiles to cosmetics. Ths generally wear dress sizes from 2 to 6.

Some promotional models travel with companies (at the company's expense) from show to show. Those models have usually acquired commercial contracts. This can be a great opportunity for a beginning model as you will meet some of the directors and marketing personnel within that company and it's a great opportunity to get you in front of the public. This can lead to print work and other modeling opportunities and it pays well.

My very first modeling job was for a new women's fashion boutique in Orlando, FL. I was hired as a showroom model and I had to pose as a mannequin...literally. I couldn't move or talk and I stood behind a showcase glass with 5 other models for a total of 4 hours. We took a break every 30 minutes to change clothes and use the restroom. I earned $280.00 from that gig! I guess it really wasn't that bad but it did prompt me to ask myself, "What are you willing to do to be a model?" I NEVER imagined I would do anything like that but at the time, I didn't know where to start. Looking back at the experience, I'm glad I didn't have to talk to anyone; I was so nervous! Lol!

Ok, so promotional modeling may not be exciting and glamorous but the pay can be very lucrative and it's a great training ground. In fact, I recommend that all aspiring models do this before moving to any other area of modeling. Personality is key in this business in addition to your physical appearance. This area of modeling will bring out your personality as well as your inner salesperson-an attribute you will need anyway no matter what type of modeling you're interested in. A winning personality will outweigh a beautiful face any day...believe me I know from experience. I've seen GORGEOUS women denied jobs because they had less than likable personalities.

Whether you start with promotional modeling or in another area, make sure you learn all you can from each experience. Let every opportunity be a stepping stone to the next.

Types of Modeling: Sports and Fitness

Fitness models are used to advertise and promote the latest in sports and fitness products. Fitness modeling centers on displaying an athletic and healthy physique. These models participate in commercials, print work and ad campaigns for products ranging from exercise videos and fitness wear catalogues to demonstrating sports equipment and promoting protein bars. Athletically proficient models are photographed or filmed playing sports. The idea is to look good and actually be proficient at the activity being captured. The requirement for fitness models is of course a well toned, muscular body. Fitness models resemble bodybuilders but with less emphasis on muscle size. Their body weight is usually similar to (or slightly heavier than) fashion models but they have a lower body fat percentage due to increased muscle mass. There are no height requirements but the model must be height/weight proportionate. Models should be muscular and healthy-not skinny. All these physical factors will ultimately be decided by the client, contingent on what they are looking for.

Becoming a model of any kind can be a challenging process but fitness modeling is one of the more difficult areas to break into. Being a fitness model means you must stay in shape ALL YEAR ROUND or you will miss out on modeling opportunities. These models should work out regularly especially since their body is the main focus. Flat stomachs and well developed abs are a must! Fitness models who participate in fitness/body builder competitions usually wear bikini style outfits to display almost all of the their body. This makes it more demanding on the model's part to get and stay fit. It is advised that the best way to break into this type of modeling is to start with fitness contests and conventions.

Hmm...I must admit fitness modeling does sound demanding but not at all impossible. If this is an area of modeling that you are interested in, DO IT! Just a little personal advice: consult a personal trainer to ensure that you are developing your body properly and speak to a nutritionist about products to help maintain your results in a healthy manner. Make sure you have a regular workout plan so you can always be ready for jobs. You never know when you might get that BIG BREAK! Good luck to you and may you succeed in all your endeavors!

Types of Modeling: Children and Teens

This post is about child/teen modeling but of course this will be directed to the parents. So for all the moms and dads who are constantly told your child should be a model, this one's for you!

Child and teen models land the same jobs as commercial models such as national print ads, television shows, commercials, catalogs, magazines, brochures, posters and even local fashion shows. Teen models are generally called Junior models. Junior models range in height from 5'6 to 5'10 tall and are normally 12 to 17 years old with very youthful looks.

They usually have 32-34 busts, 21-25 waists and 32-34 hips. Children under 12 should be average to thin in weight, astoundingly cute and have an outgoing personality. Children and teens are used of course to target an audience of their peers. According to recent studies, teen consumers in the age range from 12-17 showed an estimated spending power of $153 billion and thus present a vast marketing opportunity that is multifaceted and touches on many products and services. It is highly suggested that children and teens participate in acting classes as this increases their chances of getting work. It helps them become more comfortable performing for an audience and show expression well in front of the camera. Compensation for child/teen models depends on the assignment. These models are paid less than adults but can earn up to $75 an hour.

I will be going into further detail about how to get started in the modeling industry in a later post. I strongly believe the very first step in getting your child into the modeling industry is actually talking to them and finding out if this is something they really want to do. This is so important since your child will be the one doing all the modeling! There are many things to take into consideration: Is your child confident enough to handle rejection or is he or she super sensitive? Does you child have a basic understanding that modeling is a business and not all fun and games?

Because children are so impressionable, you also have to consider their mental and emotional welfare after being thrown into a world of vanity. Will they accept themselves as they are or fall victim to eating disorders or maybe even become obsessed with their looks? These are all the same things adult models must contemplate before taking the first step towards modeling. The only difference is that the model is a minor and needs more mental and emotional guidance in the right direction. When children and teens go into the modeling industry, it becomes a family decision. How far are you willing to go to support your child/teen's career? How will this effect your other children? Once it is decided that this is what all parties involved want to do, here are some things to know:

*Your child will need photos to submit to agencies. To get started, he or she needs 1 head shot, 1 body shot and 1 3/4 shot. Most agencies don't require professional photos as long as they are current. You can email pictures or send them via mail depending on the agency's policies. Always include the child's height, age, sizes, a contact number and email address. If selected to work with an agency, they will provide your child with professional photos to send out on auditions and castings. (Children/teens will need to update their pictures more often than adult models because they are growing and changing in appearance constantly.)

*Finding a reputable and established agency will be the key to your child's success. There are scams involved with every kind of business so do your research when searching for an agency. Please don't rush this process! I've heard far too many horror stories of people getting scammed by so-called modeling agencies simply because they were so anxious about getting started so they took the first opportunity that came their way. Save yourself the heartache and money and take your time in choosing the right agency.

*Anyone under the age of 18 cannot legally enter into a modeling contract. All respectable modeling agencies, photographers, magazines, etc. will require parental/guardian permission prior to working with a minor.

Types of Modeling: Petite Size

Petite modeling targets a much smaller audience as this part of the industry is still growing. Petite models wear sizes that range from 0 to 7 and are between 5'0 and 5'7 in height. Petite models have the same qualities as high-end fashion models but on a petite frame meaning they too must have proportionate figures, beautiful flawless faces, nice skin, good bone structure and good teeth. Commercial and print models are not always required to be stunningly beautiful but petite models generally are. Due to the fact these models are normally used as "body part" models (hands, feet, legs, face, etc.), height is not as important as with high fashion models.

Petite models tend to look more fit than their fashion model counterparts-who appear tall and elegant in person and on the screen. This is why fashion industry professionals choose tall models for runway and more petite models for print and commercial. It is believed that tall models look better in front of the camera because television shortens one's appearance and adds weight. Therefore tall, thin models can still maintain their appearance on the runway and in print. Contrary to popular belief, many petite models are securing jobs in print, commercial and even beauty ad campaigns. Most of the work in the petite modeling industry involves close up pictures of the face, hands, feet or other body parts instead of the body as a whole. Therefore, models in this segment of the market are often paid very well because advertisers focus more on the look of the model's face than her figure.

*According to various researches by a major research company, The NPD Group, Inc. (formerly National Purchase Diary), the petite market has a compound annual growth rate of 8.6 percent in the period from 1997 to 2000, creating an $8.3 billion dollar market. The petite market itself is 8.9 percent of the overall $93 billion dollar women's apparel market. Further research by NPD revealed that many women are actually petite on the bottom (waist down) or petite on the top (waist up) and don't realize this. Thus, the total sales of bottoms and tailored clothing account for a soaring 54 percent of total petite sales. This number is likely to increase when more women realize this newly found need.

I'm considered a petite model and I know from experience that height does not always matter. I'm 5'6, size 1 and I'm still able to book jobs. Believe me, if I can do it...SO CAN YOU! I've been blessed to work with different companies modeling clothes, shoes and lingerie. Was it easy to get these jobs? No. It's hard work. I am very aware that I don't meet the standards of a high fashion model BUT I am I'm very confident in my skills as a model and I refuse to let my physical setbacks set me back! No, I may never be a high fashion supermodel but I am determined to take advantage of every opportunity that comes my way simply because nothing is impossible.

Types of Modeling: Plus Size

The good thing about doing this series is that I learn so much myself as I continue to research the various categories of modeling. This post focuses on plus size models and here is what I found.

Plus size models (also known as full-figured models and extended size models) primarily model clothes that are designed for larger body sizes and types. Now as far as the size requirements, I found several references but the majority state these models range in dress sizes from size 10 to 16 and height requirements are 5'8 up to 6'0. Larger sizes (18-32) are used but are not as common. These requirements are contingent upon the client hiring the model and the proportions of the model. Your bust, waist and hips should be proportionate to your height. The standard is that your measurements should be ten inches apart, (i.e. 34-24-34) or very close. The shorter you are, the smaller your size should be. Keep in mind that whether you are tall and thin or thick and curvy, you should still have an "hour-glass" shape. Another thing to point out...SHAPELY LEGS ARE A MUST.

Today, plus size models are experiencing many of the same opportunities as high fashion models-even the pay. In fact, plus size is a sub category of fashion modeling. Society is becoming more aware that bodies come in all shapes and sizes, so a need has emerged for larger models. No longer are size twos modeling clothing for brands that cater to plus-size fashion. As a result, the job prospects for larger models have never been better. These models often find work from their mid-teens all the way through middle age and work in markets all over the US and around the world. Many participate in a variety of modeling jobs such as print work, runway, ad campaigns and commercials. Fashion designers are increasingly using full figured models mainly due to the fact that the average woman in the US is a size 12-14. Plus size models therefore appeal to a larger part of the female population than their fashion model counterparts. Women are increasingly demanding to see models that more accurately reflect their own image.

So, to all my curvy goddesses who have a passion for modeling and fit the above criteria...GO FOR IT! YOU represent today's woman; YOU are the inspiration to so many other curvy aspiring models who doubt their success in the industry. I believe beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and colors. It is truly in the eye of the beholder and it's quite evident that the public is "beholding" YOU. Like I stated earlier in a previous post, the fashion industry changes from day to day. Full figured models are now in demand like never before. Now is the time to take advantage of this opportunity and help further progression in the fashion industry! Eighty-five percent of the female population in this country are over a size 10 so naturally the public will want to see women who they can relate to. Yes, it will take time and many models such as yourself to blaze the trail. Just like anything that you want, you need dedication and persistence and you must be willing to work hard for it. People are accustomed to seeing tall, thin models showcasing the latest fashions of the world's top designers and there's nothing wrong with that. However, when they grow bored with the norm and want to see variety, change takes place as we see now. Why not be a part of that change?

I sincerely hope this post inspires at least ONE person to set out to make a difference in this industry and if that person is YOU...I pray that you stay positive and encouraged in your journey. Let your passion drive you to level after level of greatness. May YOU inspire those watching you and cause a domino effect. Types of Modeling: Glamour

Glamour modeling (also known as "body modeling") is modeling for photos with a sexual or mature theme, including bikini, sexy outfits and lingerie. Most nude photography also falls into this category. Glamour modeling is a very big industry and is becoming increasingly hard to define because it could mean anything from a centerfold in a mens magazine to top shelf magazines and even hardcore pornography. Glamour modeling includes photos for calendars, posters and mens magazines like Playboy, Penthouse, Maxim and Smooth. Many industry professionals believe it is the internet dominating this field of modeling as these shots are becoming very popular on the web.

Unlike fashion modeling, standards for glamour modeling are more flexible. There are no height and size requirements however, it is critical to have a well-shaped, curvaceous physique and-because of the nature of glamour modeling-you MUST be 18 years old or over. Fashion modeling often requires strikingly good looks while glamour modeling wants traditional "drop dead gorgeous". Another advantage to glamour modeling is that you can find a market for it just about anywhere while the fashion market is mainly in New York.

Hourly rates for glamour models are often higher than other types of models. Pay rates can be very good and usually doubles if the model is posing nude. This type of modeling can be very lucrative and top glamour models can make as much as top fashion models (not supermodels) but of course that depends on the model's popularity and demand. Glamour models can have careers well into their 30s and 40s and even longer. There is even a demand for sexy, good looking women in their 50s and 60s.

As you can see, glamour modeling is not for everyone because of the amount of skin they have to show. Depending on your viewpoint, glamour modeling is either cheap and derogatory or liberating and empowering. You must be comfortable with your body! If you are interested in becoming a glamour model, make sure you know the details prior to your shoot like what your images are being used for and where they will be published. Dont be afraid or intimidated to ask questions. You want to ensure the final product is something that fits your comfort level as well as your career goals. Like I stated before, modeling is work. So for those of you who are contemplating plastic surgery to achieve that hour glass shape (I get questions about it all the time but not that I have anything against it), please understand that modeling is about way more than just your looks. You still need a good personality and drive to pursue your goals. Being beautiful inside AND out is the key!

Types of Modeling: Commercial

Commercial modeling is a growing market for models everyday as more and more companies seek fresh faces to enhance their brands. Commercial models promote and sell products and services with their looks and actions. Their main responsibility is to make the bridge between client and customer. These models are seen every day in local or national print ads, television shows, catalogs, magazines, brochures, posters and even local fashion and trade shows. As a commercial model, you may be asked to model anything: a car, a pack of gum or even a retirement fund. To be a commercial model you need to bring out the salesperson in you!

Fashion models normally promote high-end designer clothes; commercial models advertise everything else. Fashion models also work as commercial models (known as commercial fashion models) although the reverse is rarely true. Unlike fashion modeling, commercial modeling has no age, height, weight or size restrictions; all types of people are needed. These models need only to have the ability to look like a "real" person. Companies want to advertise in a non-threatening manner to their potential clients rather than amazing them with the models beauty. You will find that the majority of commercial models do not look like fashion models. Instead, many are "real" looking people portraying parents, teachers, mechanics and many other professions and roles in society.

Commercial modeling is by far the largest and most diverse field of modeling and generally comes in 2 major divisions: lifestyle models and product models. Product models are used to sell a product for a client and their work is often done in close association with that product (i.e., a cell phone commercial). Lifestyle models on the other hand tend to depict lifestyles or ideas and are generally not so closely associated with a product (i.e., a State Farm Insurance commercial). Models must have a good working attitude-as there are many different people and personalities present on the day of the shoot-and show expression well in front of the camera.

Most agency models are commercial models. They dont generally receive national recognition or lucrative ad contracts but they are the backbone of the modeling industry. The compensation for jobs will vary depending on the assignment. Adult commercial models can expect to make anywhere from $50 to $250 an hour depending on the market. Children are paid less than adults but can earn up to $75 an hour. Most people do commercial modeling on a part-time basis because there is no guarantee of regular work although some models work steadily enough to make very attractive incomes.

The best way to get work as a commercial model is to learn some acting skills, be self-motivated and have a flexible schedule to accept the work. As you can see, just about anybody can be a commercial model! No, it may not be as prestigious and glamorous as being a top fashion model but it can definitely help get you in the industry and provide you great exposure.

Types of Modeling: Fashion

A model is a person who is posed or displayed for the purpose of art, fashion, or other products and advertising. Models must work as though he or she is running a business and they are the product that others want. The modeling industry is open to everyone, all body types and sizes.

This particular post will discuss fashion modeling-devoted to displaying clothing and other items by noted fashion designers and brands. Fashion models account for an extremely small percentage of the total model population in the industry. This category consists of runway and editorial/high fashion modeling. Fashion model requirements are dictated by the clients of model agencies that require a certain build, at a certain height, with a certain look for an advertisement or to sell their clothing. Female fashion models are generally a minimum of 5'9 "-6'0" and start their modeling careers before the age of 21. Their measurements are in the range of 34-24-34. Male fashion models are generally 6'0"-6'2" and wear a 40 Regular jacket. Male fashion models normally start their careers before the age of 23-25 at the most.

Male and female fashion models tend to have a very distinctive look with striking features. What makes for a fashion model face? The general opinion of the fashion industry is, the more symmetrical a face is the better looking it will be. A model's facial proportions are extremely important. Below are a few things that agencies look for:

*A face that is neither long nor round but somewhere in between
*Normal to large eyes with a perfect shape; the eyelids should not be hooded (when looking forward the skin should not touch the eyelashes)
*A nose that is well proportioned and straight
*Lips with full and good shape
*Eyebrows that are thick and perfectly shaped
*Hair in good condition

High fashion models surround us every day on billboards, magazine covers, television commercials and of course...the coveted runway. They are professional models and 99% are represented by modeling agencies through out the world. Most aspiring models seek to be a part of this elite group because the visibility is high as well as the pay. The largest amount of money goes to the very rare "supermodels", models whose names are household names (Cindy Crawford, Tyra Banks, Giselle Bundchen, Naomi Campbell, etc.) and earn a generous living off modeling alone. Only about 2% of all models become supermodels-they are composed of men and women from all over the world. Supermodels usually work for top fashion designers and labels and have multi-million dollar contracts, endorsements and ad campaigns. The term supermodel is not limited to females. Men 's fashion represents just a fraction of the industry but has played a part in the fashion world, while commanding less compensation than their female counterparts. Male fashion models also work in major fashion magazines and do runway for major designers. Male supermodels include Tyson Beckford, Antonio Sabato, Jr and Michael Bergin.

Runway (or catwalk) models are generally a minimum of 5'9"-6'0" and start their modeling careers before the age of 20. Their average measurements are between 33-23-33 and 35-25-35. They are normally very thin with excellent posture. Clothing designers traditionally show their new collections in an annual fashion show for buyers, the fashion industry, and the general public. Runway models have to bring a designer's clothes to life and display them to their best advantage. Runway assignments can include designer fashion shows in major international fashion cities like Paris, Milan, London, Montreal and New York. This is one of the most effective ways to gain exposure.

Fashion magazines such as Vogue, Elle and W reserve editorials for the top fashion or editorial models. Editorial spreads have an idea or artistic theme that is normally given by the editor of the magazine for a particular issue. The model is wearing the latest possible designs from famous brand names. Editorial experience opens doors. This work is very eagerly sought after by fashion models because of the exposure it provides and most importantly, tear sheets to gain further work. These models generally live in New York City (in this country) for the simple reason that very little editorial fashion work is booked anywhere else. Editorial fashion jobs are booked almost exclusively through "editorial fashion agencies" and those hardly exist outside New York. Now, that's not to say that other markets don't have fashion opportunities but New York is the fashion capital of the United States.

So do you have the "look" and can you sell products? I will add that the fashion industry is constantly changing from day to day. One day blonde hair and blue eyes may be the ticket and the next day brunettes with green eyes may be the popular look. Who knows? As you can see, this is a fast paced industry and you have to be able to keep up. For those of you who fit this category and have the desire to be a fashion model, GO FOR IT! Dont give up. Let your dream drive you to your destination...hopefully its on the next cover of Vogue! ;-)

Types of Modeling: Introduction

Hello again! I decided to take a break in between talent highlights and start a series on what modeling is and the different types of model categories. I receive messages all the time from young men and women expressing their hopes and dreams of becoming a model but many of them don't know where to start or what kind of model they want to be. There are various kinds of models and not all of them have the same requirements. You must first know where you fit in and go from there.

Know this: MODELING IS WORK. It is so much more than makeup, lights, cameras and runways. It's not easy and you have to earn your place in the industry. You must be persistent and understand that rejection is common. You may find yourself hearing "no" many times before you hear a "yes". That doesn't mean you aren't attractive and you can't take anything personal. Your "look" just wasn't what that particular client was searching for at the time or you didn't meet their requirements. A successful model should be well informed about the jobs they are seeking and ensure that he or she has all the essentials before pursuing anything. Believe me, I know from experience. Yes, the industry is constantly changing and yes, sometimes exceptions are made but you can't assume that will be the case every time you attend a casting. You have to be realistic, you need a tough skin and recognize that you are contending with thousands with the same desire...to become a model. My question to you is, "What makes you different from the rest?" If your answer is, "I've always dreamed of modeling since I was a child!" or "Nobody wants this as bad as I do!" or even "I have a unique look and everybody tells me I should model." I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but those answers alone are NOT good enough. Though they may be true (and oh so common), they won't get you a modeling job. Please don't get me wrong! The purpose of this post is not to discourage anyone from following their dreams, I say go for it with all you've got! Just make sure you know exactly what you are going after and what you are getting into. It will save you heartache AND money. Scam artists will capitalize on your ignorance and desperation..

With that being said, let me add some personal advice. Know who you are. Be honest with yourself about your strengths and weaknesses. Be confident about your skills and talents. Whatever it is that keeps you strong mentally and emotionally, rely on that. If it's your family, friends, prayer, meditation, whatever! Practice excellence, always push yourself to do better but also learn to respect the talent in others. You will not always be the best candidate for the job but when you know how to appreciate the abilities of those around you, it makes you a stronger person. Don't let jealousy creep in when it's another person's time to shine...CONGRATULATE THEM!!! Remember: the fashion and modeling industry is art. Each of us bring a different color to the canvas. We are individually beautiful but together we are a work of art..

Veruschka: The World's First Supermodel

Veruschka was born in 1939 as Countess Vera Gottliebe Anna von Lehnorff. She lived with her family in East Prussia and enjoyed a wealthy lifestyle as she was the daughter of a rich landowner and German army reserve officer. Her father, Count Heinrich Graf von Lehndorff-Steinort, was a key member in the German Resistance after witnessing Jewish children being beaten and killed. He was involved in the July 20th plot in 1944 to assassinate Hitler. After a failed attempt he was hanged (by piano wire from a meat hook) that year when Vera was only three.

After her father's death, her mother was arrested and Vera and her sisters spent the rest of the war in Gestapo camps-concentration camps run by the secret state police in Nazi Germany-until the end of World War II. They were later reunited with their mother after the war but by then her family was destitute and blackballed by other Germans for her father's treason. Vera attended 13 schools and spent a lot of time alone in the woods hiding among the trees and wishing to become one. "I was living a totally underwater life after the war. We were under shock about what had happened to us," states Vera. She went on to study art in Hamburg and then textile design in Florence where a fashion designer first asked her to model. She was later discovered at age 20 by photographer Ugo Mulas in 1959 and became a full-time model.

Vera was a statuesque 6 foot 1 inch tall with dark blond hair and blue eyes. During that time tall models were not considered desirable in Paris but it was there where she met Eileen Ford, head of the reputable and respected Ford Modeling Agency. Eileen informed her that tall models were fashionable in America and advised her to eat hard boiled eggs to stay slim. She moved to New York City in 1961 but had no luck with booking modeling jobs and unfortunately Eileen did not remember meeting her. To distinguish herself as a model she returned to Munich and told people that she was from Russia and changed her name to Veruschka to create a mysterious persona. She traveled back to New York visiting the top photographers and stated, "I am Veruschka who comes from the border between Russia, Germany and Poland. I'd like to see what you can do with my face." It was then that she started to gain various bookings.

One of her most noted accomplishments was her brief yet paramount appearance in the cult film, "Blowup" by Michaelangelo Antonini in 1966. Although she only had a five minute appearance, that cameo vaulted her into international stardom. In the same year, she did her first photo shoot wearing nothing but body paint, which became a lifelong artistic pursuit. Most of the time she did her own make-up, hair and styling and sometimes even the photography. She was painted with different outfits transforming her into wild animals, personalities and even scenery. At her peak, Veruschka earned as much as $10,000 a day-a sum unheard of in those days. Occasionally, she still appears on catwalks, for example, as a guest model in the Melbourne Fashion Festival in 2000 in Australia and in 2006 made an appearance in the James Bond movie "Casino Royale".

Other facts about Veruschka:
Premiere magazine named her five minute scene in "Blowup" the sexiest scene in film history despite the fact that there was no nudity.
The make-up brand, MAC, sells a lipstick called Veruschka named after her for her influence in the fashion industry during the 60s.

Jessica White: Model of Her Generation

I found a clip of Jessica's appearance on the Tyra Banks show and after viewing it, I was excited to write about this tall, dark, leggy goddess. Tyra labeled her "the model of her generation." So after some research, here's what I found.

Jessica was born in Buffalo, New York in 1984. She grew up in a tough neighborhood as a rebellious pre-teen smoking and drinking by the time she was only 13 years old. The following year events turned more positive for Jessica and she attended Personal Best modeling school (owned and operated by Susan Makai). At 16, she was scouted by a modeling agent who later flew her to Paris where she signed with IMG Agency and also obtained a contract with Cover Girl (2000). Her modeling career took off and she quickly landed a photo shoot with Cover Girl teen magazine. In 2001, she was featured in the Spring issue of Chloe, a Gap holiday ad campaign, Harper's Bazaar, Teen Vogue and Vogue Italia.

Upon her return to New York around 2002, Jessica quickly got work in several of the city's fashion shows during Fashion Week. She has walked the runways for some of New York's top designers such as Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs, and Tommy Hilfiger. In 2003, she was featured in Sports Illustrated. She would later be featured in its 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008 issues making her the first African American model to appear in 3 consecutive editions of the issue and 6 editions total. Another great accomplishment under her belt is that in 2007 she signed a contract with Maybelline. This makes her the first African American model to land 2 major cosmetics contracts.

Jessica is also an actress and has been featured in music videos. She portrayed young Shana Fleiss in the made-for-television movie "The Making of a Hollywood Madam" (1996). She also played small roles in "Little Erin Merryweather" in 2003, and "Big Momma's House 2". She's even made appearances on the soap opera "The Young and the Restless". Her videos include John Legend's "So High", Jay-Z's "Change Clothes" and Robin Thicke's "The Sweetest Love".

I would like to focus on "prevailing" and "style of dress". NIKERA Clothing "prevails" over everything ordinary, spiritless and down right boring. Hello, Nikki! Where are you located?
East Coast (Virginia).

I'm curious, how did you come up with the name for your clothing line?
I love vintage eras! That's where my inspiration comes from so I decided to create my own remix of those eras, "NIKERA", which translates to Nikki's Era. Nikki is my childhood nickname.

Clever! So have you always wanted to be a designer?
Yes, since the age of 10. I would sketch designs for my parents' approval. Drawing has always been a natural talent. Fashion came years after.

Describe your clothing line in 3 words.
Classic. Trendy. Feminine.

Hmmm...I definitely agree with that! What is the inspiration behind your designs?
The CITRUS collection is inspired by the 1950's era. I love the A-Line dresses and the long full skirts of that time.

Are your clothes geared towards men or women?
Young women-mainly confident women who want to be sexy and beautiful but yet stand out in a crowd.

What are your future plans for the clothing line?
Right now we are launching our sister company, "SWIM80" in June 2009. It's a vintage inspired swimsuit boutique (online only). We are also looking to broaden our demographics in the years to come with store locations mainly in Japan and Hawaii.

Where can we find your clothes?
Starting in January 2010, NIKERA Clothing will be available in exclusive boutiques throughout the nation. Mainly East Coast and Los Angeles.

I'm trying to maintain a straight face while I write this. Why? Well if you knew this wonderful person like I did, you would have a hard time controlling yourself too...and I haven't even met her in person yet! She keeps me laughing via Myspace and Twitter (the power of social networking!) and there is NEVER a dull moment with her.

This enthusiastic woman-with a big heart, a love for life and a sense of humor the size of a small planet-is located North Carolina and her work is nothing less than extraordinary. I finally got a chance to steal a few minutes of her time to get a very quick interview. Seeing that she is always on the move, I was honored to have her pause for little ol' me. It is my pleasure to introduce you to the talented photographer, Danielle Trevant for Platinum Touch Photos. Danielle is a US Navy veteran and final year college student. Her first taste of photography was in the US Navy where she went to school in 1998 at the Defense Information School in Fort Meade, Maryland. "I met all kinds of people from all walks of life and branches and learned from the absolute best," states Danielle. Now for a few questions of my own. :-)

Did you go to school to study photography?
Yes, I was a combat photographer in the US Navy for 8 years.

How long have you been a photographer?

What or who got you started in photography?
The Military.

How would you describe your style of photography?
My style is eclectic. I don't like the norm; I'm still learning to think outside the box. I believe and was taught that yes, every shot has pretty much been done but what's my view on it?

What inspires you as a photographer?
Fashion inspires me! I love photography in all aspects but throughout the course of my career, I've noticed that I feel more at home in the fashion and modeling industry. It drives me.

What is your most memorable assignment/job to date?
My most memorable moment is still yet to come. This Friday actually I think I would have fulfilled a secret project I've been planning for years; I just haven't found a willing participant.

What is the funniest thing to happen to you while on the job?
I was shooting on a marine base recently at the beach. I tend to get into weird positions to get different views of my shot. My model and I thought we were alone at the beach and the wind was blowing all types of crazy. My dress blows up while I'm shooting-mind you this pose is hard for the model to hold so I'm shooting like 6 frames per second. It's raining and the wind is blowing at least 60 miles per hour. Relieved that I got my shot I didn't notice the whole platoon of marines behind me cheering because they got a peek of my superwoman underoos while the wind was blowing and I was shooting!

The International Modeling Guide

Hello, again! I decided to write this post because I constantly get messages and emails from aspiring models asking me for advice on modeling and how to get started. I would like to share with you this very important book called The International Modeling Guide. It is often referred to as "the models bible" and some even say no model who is serious about his or her profession should be without this guide. This book was once only available to A-List Celebrities! It is extremely helpful and will answer just about any question you have pertaining to the modeling industry.

The International Modeling Guide is for aspiring models just getting started as well as those who have experience. The following is just a small list of topics this book covers:

*Types of models
*Modeling agencies
*Auditions and casting calls
*Proper skin care
*Common eating disorders among models
*The difference between managers, agents and publicists
*Nutrition
*Contractual agreements
*Protocol for auditions and casting calls

I came across a copy of this book online a few months ago and I learned quite a bit! I highly recommend this book to all aspiring models. MODELING IS WORK. No matter you're reason for wanting to model, you will have to work to be successful. Like I stated before, it is more than looking pretty. It's a job and like any other job you have to earn your pay. Another thing I would like to add: make sure modeling is for YOU! Get a tough skin about the reality of the modeling industry and the reality is rejection is common. If you should attend a casting call and you don't get the part, it does NOT mean you are not attractive. Your "look" just wasn't what was desired at the time and you can't take that personal. Also, NETWORK, NETWORK, NETWORK!!! I can't stress this enough. Socialize with others in the industry because you never know what doors it could open for you.

This woman NEVER ceases to amaze me with the way she moves on the catwalk. The way she tells a story mentally taking you to another place just by looking at her pictures. She leaves me speechless. Power, beauty and grace embodied. She is none other than the gorgeous Naomi Campbell.

I had to do a post about my favorite model of all-time!!! Now, I know you all are probably conjuring up the many horrible stories told about her in the media but frankly I am not interested in that right now...never have been. Many things have been said about her but one thing remains certain...her talent is undeniable. It is that talent that I am now paying homage to.

Naomi inspires me on so many levels. When I look at her images I see a bold confidence that I strive to have in my own. She is the definition of a model in the truest sense. She sells the product in such a way that it's damn near impossible for someone to come anywhere close to duplicating. Basically, she "brands" the brand she is promoting. That's not to say no other model has that capability but Naomi clearly does it her way.

I often scour the internet for new images on her or to see what new business ventures she is pursuing and I found some very interesting things about her! I would like to share the following for two reasons: (1) the media constantly informs us on "all things Naomi" that are negative and for once I would like to hear some positive things about her and (2) because the media concentrates on her flaws, no one really knows anything else about her. It is not my intention to dispel any rumors concerning Naomi or convince you to feel the same way about her as I do. This is simply so that you can be aware that she is more than a Supermodel...she is also a role model.

*Naomi's album Baby Woman sold over 1 million copies worldwide and her single Long Vacation, became a No. 1 hit in Japan selling approximately 1,856,000 copies.

*She was chosen in January of 2004 to headline rap artist Jay-Z's line of hip-hop clothing, 'Rocawear'.

*She helped to raise 1.1 million Euros for the AIDS cause, by participating in the 'Life Ball', the largest European fundraiser for the fight against AIDS. G14 Classified!

I receive many messages daily from admirers of my pictures and everyone always asks the same two questions, "Who is your photographer?" and "Who designed your myspace page?". Well, his name is Photographer G14 but most just simply call him G. He is the mastermind behind ALL of my images as well as the graphic artist for the studio. I am proud to say he is also my business partner. Together, we are The Studio Concept. I truly thank God for him because I have learned so much within the last 2 years I've been privileged to work with him. Modeling has always been a passion of mine and I like to believe that it comes natural to me. It was G who helped me polish and refine this natural talent into a work of art.

Like I stated in the previous blog post, my start with The Studio Concept begin when I enrolled in the model development program. Before then I only had experience in runway fashion doing local shows in the Atlanta area. I had absolutely no experience in front of the camera so taking pictures was a whole new adventure for me! At the time I enrolled, there were two options available for the program: a 3 month and a 6 month program. The latter was more intense for those who needed extra help and time to get into "model" shape. I chose the 6 month program because that's what I thought I needed. The funny thing is G told me that I didn't need that program but I disagreed. I wanted to ensure that I learned everything I could from this program. (I can be VERY stubborn sometimes...hehehe!)

During the course of my program, I attended monthly classes that consisted of an instructional 3 look photo session, an acting class and a workout session. Basically, it was boot camp for aspiring models. I was so nervous the first time I went!!! My heart was pounding, teeth chattering and at one point I thought I was going to pass out! Once I was on set, I calmed down and focused on what I was there for. I never knew how much actually went into a picture! Oh my goodness, it is so much more than standing there looking pretty. The first assignment G gave me was to learn how my body looks without standing in front of the mirror. Sounds simple but you would be surprised how something so small effects the big picture.

Ok!!! Now for my favorite part (drumroll please) G14 Classified facts!!! He is NOT going to like this part but hey...who cares? PAHAHAHAHAHA!!! The following is a list things that I have discovered from working with him:

*If he comes up with a theme or idea, ROLL WITH IT. Let him be the artist and you be a willing canvas. Trust me, you will not be disappointed with the result!

*He is not talkative so don't get offended if he doesn't say much. He is a man of few words.

*He doesn't get excited about anything...well, at least not like the average person. I'm really not a good example for comparison because I'm very energetic! His "excitement" is a nod and smile with the statement, "I like that!" Yep, it's just that simple with him.

*He is very patient and understanding. I do admire that about him.

*He absolutely HATES when females attempt to use their "womanly wiles" on him for their advantage. He says all the time, "I didn't choose to be a photographer just so I can look at women all day. This is not a game for me nor an outlet to be a pervert." Based on what I've seen since I've been working with him, I believe that.

*He keeps a low profile and does NOT desire attention. This blog will probably be the only place online with such an intensive (if you can call it that) amount of information on him...HAHAHA!

*He can be painfully honest but it's always to your advantage.

*He loves CARS especially BMWs. He is a walking car guide.

*He has a thing for bag-pipe parades. Weird, huh?

*He hates to repeat himself which is precisely why I pretend to forget certain things. His reaction to it is HILARIOUS!!!

*He is a lovable jackass. Point blank. You can ask ANYBODY who knows him and I promise you, they will concur. LOL!

Who is B. Breezy?

B. Breezy (Spokesmodel and Photographer for The Studio Concept in Atlanta, GA) candidly answers most commonly asked questions from her friends on her social networks.

How old are you?
30 years young!

Where are you from?
Alexander City, AL. I was born there but honestly I can't tell you anything about it. My father was in the military so my family moved around a lot. I've lived in Alabama, South Carolina, Mississippi, Indiana, Florida, Kentucky, and now Georgia. I moved here in 1996.

Are you married?
No but someday I would like to be . ;-)

How long have you been modeling?
About 6 years now. I started off in runway with an agency, Models Unlimited Sophisticate and Elite. I had so much fun and learned a great deal from my instructor, Jimi Dismuke. LOVE YOU, JIMI!

Who is your photographer?
G14 with The Studio Concept. I think his photography speaks for itself!

How did you become the spokesmodel for The Studio Concept?
In March of 2007, I enrolled into the model development program that we offer here at The Studio Concept. Initially my program was 3 months but I never finished because G14 felt that I was a quick study and I soon became the spokesmodel. Now, I am the coach for the development program and I love every minute of it!

What made you cut off all your hair?
I've always wanted to wear my natural hair but I was apprehensive about how it would look. Eventually I grew tired of relaxing my hair and dealing with the maintenance of it. So I picked up my clippers and shaved it all off. It was a spontaneous decision but I've never regretted it. Man, it feels so good to get in the shower and not have to worry about getting my hair wet or the wind messing up my hair when I let my windows down in the car!!! Oh, and to not have to spend forever getting ready in the morning doing my hair? It's a lovely feeling. It has definitely helped give me a distinguishing look.

Can you sing?
Yes but I've never thought about pursuing it as a career.

What kind of men do you like?
MEN THAT CAN MAKE ME LAUGH! I love to laugh and have fun. He has to be ambitious and have something going for himself in addition to being affectionate, a good listener, expressive, creative, intelligent and most of all a chameleon. Talking to professionals should not sound like you are talking to your homeboys...BIG DIFFERENCE! I also like a man that can teach me things. No, it doesn't matter what his occupation is as long as he has a passion for it and it's LEGAL. He should be happy with what he does on a daily basis.

Can you cook?
YES!!! I love to eat.

Have you shot with any other photographers?
No but I would love to! For those who don't know, I am EXTREMELY picky about the offers I get from other photographers. By no means do I think I am the greatest model but I will NOT shoot with just anyone. The photographer's work has to be at least comparable to what I already have in my portfolio. It's no different than me approaching a photographer for a TFP and I know that I am not comparable to the models that he has worked with. That's only fair.

A few more things about me:

*As I stated earlier, I LOVE TO EAT! It's a major event for me. My absolute favorite is seafood.

*My favorite color is blue-any shade of it.

*I LOVE THE GOLDEN GIRLS! I know, it's weird! For those of you who have been to the studio, you have seen the entire collection on DVD in my office. I even have G-14 watching them with me! (Sorry, G! Hehehe!)

*I can't rap but I try to freestyle all the time. It's pathetic but I feel so gangsta' when I do!

*I love all kinds of music. It doesn't matter as long as it sounds good to me. My favorite songs are "Moments in Love" by Art of Noise and "Candy" by Cameo.

*I have a shoe fetish...BAD! I need help but I refuse to get it.

*I have a thing about looking "presentable" every time I walk out the door-even if I'm just going to the mailbox. Hey, you never know who might see you!

*I adore pit bulldogs. They are the kindest, most loving creatures in spite of their reputation. I sing and dance for my dog, Eclipse when no one is around. He pays me no attention whatsoever.

*I laugh loud! I can't help it. I get excited very easily.

*I HATE the winter time.

*I tend to shy away from a lot of attention. It's extremely flattering but I like my privacy. The girl you see in my pictures is not me in real life. My pictures are not only promotional tools as the spokesmodel of the photography studio but also an avenue for me to express myself creatively.

*I would love to be the face for a cosmetic company or clothing line. Acting would be great too!

*Every time I get in front of the camera, I always aim to outdo what I did before. I realize there are thousands are girls who want to be models but my reality is I am my only competition. As long as I push myself, I will continue to grow professionally as well as emotionally and spiritually.

*I love my life and the people in it; I do NOT take them for granted.
