Well, so far this year is shaping up damn good! We have a run of shows at The Lomax in Liverpool to look forward to from February onwards, our first show of the year is at The Zanzibar in Liverpool where we'll be performing some new songs for the first time :) The big news is that we are opening for Joan Armatrading when she hits the Liverpool Philharmonic in November!

We will be releasing our album in September on our Searching For Dandelions label, in the meantime we're rehearsing and spending some time in a number of different studios recording things as and when we can afford to. First producer we're working with will be Daniel Finney of Deafen the Creatures - a busy year ahead of us, let's see what we can achieve :)

Now that festivities and illness are (pretty much) out the way Liz & I will be getting back on the practice horse and sorting out a fresh set of songs. There are some ideas we've been tinkering with for a while but a couple are pretty tricky and we're still arranging harmonies and solo sections! Resolutions?

1) To put more videos up this year on YouTube
2) Try and double the number of gigs (So we need 110 in our diary - any takers? Get in touch!)

First one of the year looks like it's The Zanzibar, Liverpool in February :)

Great admin skills Andy you forgot to update the 'blog'!
We have two tracks on an iTunes only Christmas release, only availably in Europe titles 'A Searching For Dandelions Christmas'. We have an acapella cover of 'Walking In A Winter Wonderland' kicking off proceedings and a song you may recognise from our recent gigs called 'Walking Tall', a little ditty we wrote a few months back. There is also a cover of 'My Christmas Card To You' (a Partridge Family Christmas song) by Andy, and one of his original songs titled 'Homily'.

Well, the excitement of some winter gigs has been squashed by a hand injury :(
However we have some new songs we're working on, thankfully I (Andy) don't need my hand to sing & we'll be back in the new year with new songs and a few more things up our proverbial sleeves!

Winding down for the winter months but still a few gigs to go (and still some always on the horizon!) - we've started recording a few new songs, a couple of which we've played live, some we haven't. Our next release is a while off yet but it's an album project and it'll be largely stripped back acoustic stuff to reflect what we do live, though there'll still be the odd special guest on there :D

This year has been awesome so far, it's not over yet but we're excited for what next year will bring!

Well it's October, we've already doubled the number of gigs we played last year and there are a few in the pipeline yet to come! With autumn in the air it's the perfect opportunity to dig out your Type O Negative albums, and what better way to immerse yourself in the season than with October Rust?

My choice of one song to disappear into is Love You To Death. Go, listen, and we will see you soon with new songs, some new videos and other such delights!

What a weekend!

Amazing weekend :D We fot 'band-napped' for a gig at Power's Bar in London on Saturday, on the way down we played on the M1 motorway whilst traffic was at a standstill: Click here
That gig went well, then came 'A Night To Remember' where we put on a night at Mello Mello in Liverpool for our friends Tiny Tin Lady, Seven Years Behind (who is leaving the UK for a year :( he'll be back though!), Duncan Ewart and the delicious Ratty Little Fingers.
Go nuts and Google those guys as they are all rather splendid!

What's next? All sorts of stuff! Stay tuned ;)

Heyhey!

Figured it was time for a blog-tastic update right? The EP launch has gone well so far, official mega party at the end of this month in Liverpool at Mello Mello. 25th September, doors at 7.30pm, £3 entry - first act on at 7.45pm! It promises to be an awesome night with goody bags for all who enter which will include little Just By Chance treats, sweets, & assorted goodies from the other bands on - including the latest CD from Seven Years Behind :)

It's been dubbed 'A Night To Remember' & it certainly will be!

Yes! I've updated the site, it's a different look - had to relearn all that HTML/CSS nonsense again! Well, it's here, so have a look around, report any issues so I can hurry and fix them :)

Whilst we wait for the EP the website is getting a redesign. We've some new images, some new colourings, there'll be a 'shop' link and it'll generally look a little more presentable and hopefully be more integrated with the social networks of the day. A couple of things we're ditching completely are Myspace & Reverbnation as nobody uses the former and the latter pretty much just has bands on it!

Having said that Reverbnation has been handy for the gig listings page on the current website but I think I've found a better implementation that will add events to Facebook & our site at the same time and all the while being far better presented :)

Either way, all will be announced soon though it'll most likely go live when the EP is released online on 22nd August.

In the meantime we have the Market Street Festival, Southport on Saturday at 2pm & on Sunday at 6pm we're at Holy Trinity, Southport for a special hour long set with friends, some covers and solo spots - it's going to be delicious and I hope anyone nearby can make it down :)

Getting back into the swing of things now, Liz has painted an excellent cover for the EP. The tracks on the EP will be:

1) Believe Me
2) Learn To Crawl
3) Tattoos
4) Let Them Be

We're releasing 'Lavender Infection' as a single, as soon as that is ready we'll update everywhere so you can listen, spread the word and enjoy :) Our excuse for the slow progress on recording? We've been playing lots, then there was illness and now we're back on some sort of 'track', as it were, albeit months later than we'd hoped!

Ah well, website is getting spruced too, think we're going to abandon Myspace as most people seem to interact on Twitter, Facebook and via E-mail. It's been going downhill for years that site! Have hopefully found a better way of doing the upcoming shows on our page too... all in good time!

Illness & such!

So the past few weeks have been pretty hideous with chest infections meaning we sensibly had to cancel some gigs and the ones we did play were heavily affected :( We're both dosed up though and on the other side of the worst bit (I hope!) so onwards with a couple of Liverpool gigs and an EP launch in August.

Now, where are those lozenges...?

...for not updating the blog! Busy couple of weeks, hopefully Liz will be better by Saturday for the Manchester gig then it's off to Sheffield on Wednesday and on 1st July supporting Alabama 3 acoustic at Brixton Jamm. Lots on over the next couple of months so hope to see you somewhere!

Got the EP getting mixed by people who do that sort of thing this next week or so, then it's off for mastering then we can finally upload and replace the music on the eventually re-jigged website and get promoting something! Wahey!

Don't forget that there is a mailing list, we've not used it yet as we're biding our time - but it's there to be signed up to in the meantime!

Adventure Time!

Another month has passed, I think I may have to update the blog... oh yes, I went there! We went from having an empty month to quite a full one, plenty of chances to come see us over the coming weeks - check the 'Live' page on our website for dates. Two new songs are finally ready for serving, they're currently sat on a baking tray waiting for their final bits o' decoration :)

UpNorthFest & More...

Well, we've just had a tremendously busy weekend where we've played in Leigh, Pleasureland twice as part of the UpNorthFest in Southport. Incidentally there were some phenomenal artists there that had us transfixed whilst they created stuff with their cans of spray paint :)

Finished off playing a lovely intimate venue in Leeds, the basement at Verve, Merrion Street. We've been invited back to Leeds next week too which we're looking forward to.

We're at the Fox & Goose in Southport on Friday and we should be finishing up recording this pesky EP this coming weekend too.

Myspace & Other such joys

I've had it up to here (use your imagination to locate just where I've had it up to) with Myspace! It's an arduous task adding gigs as it keeps changing to French and Chinese characters and probably most frustratingly not adding the shows. I may be second guessing here but I'm not sure anybody finds Myspace that useable these days anyway, I'll keep our page there just in case as it's doing no harm but if it fails consistently as it has today then just check this site or Facebook for gigs (or good ol' Reverbnation).

Onto other things :)

Liz & I are off to Leigh & Leeds in April, in May we're back in Liverpool and in June we're in Bristol.
