One of the things I'm constantly in search for is a good skin treatment. I do love to get some facials but they can be pretty costly. Sometimes this cost is something I am willing to pay. Since I have had Taylor - I am slacking in the sleep department and have been noticing dark spots underneath my eyes. Decorating Shoe Boxes

I got this idea from Crystal at Balanced Moms - and I sorta fell in love with it. Technically, my box isn't as great as hers but I enjoyed doing it so much - that I'm sure the more I do it, I'll get better.

I've been wandering around on the hunt looking for some cute boxes for Taylors room to store items in such as wipes, and a few toys that she can't use yet. When I say I'm on the hunt, I mean they had to be the perfect color to match her purple room :) I'm an organizing freak when it comes to stuff like this so not having anything was driving me crazy. Well, when I saw Crystal do it, I was hooked and knew I wanted to do it for Taylor's room.

I went to Jo-Ann Fabrics and picked out the color (I went plain this time) next time, I'll throw in some adorable prints to play off the purple. . . and voila - this is what I came up with :)

Nevermind the protracter thingy and the drill- hubby is building us some shelves - which I will post later :)

Stored the wipes in the box - and placed the box underneath the changing table :)

Fake Eyelashes. . .

So recently I've been introduced to fake eyelashes - and oh how, I love them. This is my first time with fake eyelashes but they literally take like 10-20 minutes to have them put in professionally.

Since this was my first time getting fake eyelashes put in, I went with a natural look - so that made my eyelashes a little thicker. However, I have an appointment in two weeks to get them a bit longer! I'm totally in love with them now. I go to a lady name Kirsten at the Don Francos Salon in Grand Blanc, MI (for all my local friends who want to get them done) - She is so darling- She even has created her beauty line which I will be sharing with you all soon!

Fake Eyelashes are $20.00 with her and they last between 1-2 weeks. I've had mine in for about a week now and haven't lost a lash yet. **Note, they do fall out with your natural lashes so thats why they say 1-2 weeks***

My sister and I decided to start a home-based consulting business a couple of years ago and it has been absolutely amazing. I love working from home and being able to interact with my kids all day long as well as get a lot of housework done it is also really nice having my sister as a business partner. She deals with all the logistical stuff like that taxes and payroll and the Clear wireless internet while I'm more of the creative behind our business. Our client really seem to be responding to our style and business is going better than I think either of us ever expected it to be at this point. It's just nice having something on our own that we have full ownership over and also that we can be mothers while at the same time being businesswomen. I know people say it's impossible to do it all but I feel like my sister and I are living examples of what it takes to do most everything all at once!

Cleaning Lady or No???

My husband and I are usually on the same page when it comes to our house. We both can't stand a messy house - and we always pick up after ourselves. Usually every Saturday morning, we spend our mornings cleaning toilets, & the floors before we gander on with our Saturday morning errands - if we have any.

However, with the latest addition to our little family, Miss Taylor - We've been tossing the idea of hiring a cleaning lady to come in maybe every two weeks to help out a bit. We both work full time jobs - and we work hard at it, so why not take some of the cleaning part off our plate. This way on Saturday mornings we don't have to worry about some of the cleaning, we can just enjoy our time with our baby girl...I say, some of the cleaning because I'm not hiring someone to do my laundry or wash our dishes. That's something we can manage throughout the week.

So here is what we are going to do first.

We are going to try to clean the bathrooms and floors during the week, so that way on the weekends we can do what we want. We've even worked out a cleaning schedule. We are going to test this for the month and see how it goes. If we find we don't like it, we are going to get a cleaning lady.

How do you manage your cleaning? Do you have a daily routine that you follow when it comes to cleaning. Let me know! We need ideas! :)

Randomness

I really hate tomatoes, but I love ketchup - oh and salsa with tomatoes in it. Sounds weird I know, but hey, that's me.
I'm a germophobe. I'm constantly washing my hands and won't let no one drink after me or eat my food. I've realized this once I had Taylor.
It drives me absolutely nuts when my husband doesn't use conditioner in his hair. Why? Because then I have tons of extra conditioner and no shampoo!
I'm into all things hot- hot sauce, buffalo wings (super hot) - and anything spicy!
I can't stand when people hum. Especially when I am trying to concentrate on something.
I subscribed to 11 magazines a month. This is a big deal for me considering I use to subscribe to 23.
I'm currently reading three books, and haven't finished any of them. I don't plan on it either (at least I'm being honest). Oh, and I always read the last page of a book first.
I prefer to write checks than pay my bills online.
I have over 40 apps on my iPhone and I probably only use 3. 4 is pushing it.
The Big Bang Theory is becoming my ultimate obsession - It's getting up there with Friends.

I'm seriously digging this look- I love all the pop of colors throughout the pillows - and even more - putting picture frames above your bed! It's quite a nice ensemble. I really adore it. I want to share with you all to a new site that I have recently been introduced too. It's so fun! It's called StyledOn - StyledOn is a social community that allows you to check out other cool fashion out on the web. You can create a user name and password to create a portfolio, which you add images and tag yourself in, and engage with other community member. I know tons of fashion bloggers/friends that would love this. It's right up your ally!

It's the web's premiere style social network.

There is so much you can do with this fashion community. My favorite underneath the fashion features page is when you click on an image, you can read what the person wrote about the image - and it allows you to stay up to date on current fashion and trends. YAY! You literally can spend hours on this site. The site even has a decor features page which talks about fashion decorating your home - now that is right up my alley.

My New Years Resolution

I've had the hardest time coming up this year with a New Year Resolution. I wanted it to be something unique, and that something I know I could stick too. Yes, yes, while of course, I want to lose weight, get in better shape, and be more organized (doubt I could get any more organized) - I didn't want to make them a New Years Resolution.

I've thought hard about my New Years Resolution - and I have decided that I want to branch more out in the kitchen.

My New Years Resolution is to cook/bake a dish I have never cooked before - once a month - and then post the recipes to the blog for you all to see. I'm killing two birds with one stone. Plus it's always nice to branch out in the kitchen. While some of you know me on a personal level know I cook a lot, and enjoy cooking - trust me, these dishes will be tough for me.

I was going to try to do this twice a month but I know with working full time, having an infant, and with having a busy schedule, I would be setting my New Year Resolution up to fail by resorting to whats simple and easy to cook.

Black Friday

I have never been a fan of shopping on black Friday. When I was little, my mom would get me up around 6am the morning after Thanksgiving and we would go shopping at all the major department stores at the mall before noon. We would stand in line forever waiting to check out with all of the clothes we were buying and I was always really bored with the whole shopping experience. When I got older, I decided that I would never go to the stores to shop on black Friday again. I instead decided to begin shopping online on black Friday because I could still get all of the great discounts without having to fight all of the crowds. I recently changed internet providers to a company I found by searching "CLEAR internet New York City" and so far I have been really happy with it. I was able to get all of my Christmas shopping done online on black Friday and I saved a lot of money by shopping then instead of waiting until closer to Christmas. It is quite a relief to have all of that shopping done.

Peanut Butter Cookie Recipe

Over the last couple of weeks I've been baking cookies! - and I thought I'd post some of the recipes for you over the next posts. One of my favorite cookies is the peanut butter cookies. The prep is really easy and the cookies are oh- yummy!

Check it out :)

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup peanut butter (sometimes I do 3/4 cup)

1/4 cup shortening

1/4 cup butter or margarine

1 egg

1 1/4 cup all purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

3/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/3 teaspoon salt

I'll be the first to admit, I am horrible with sticking with the recipe. I usually always never follow one, but I do look at it for ingredients but I'm bad when it comes to actually measuring. :) I must be a good guesser because all the cookies turned out delicious :)

Mix sugars, peanut butter, shortening, butter, and egg in a bowl, and stir in your remaining ingredients after that. Cover and refrigerate for alteast 2 hours, I stored some of mine mix for about 6 hours before baking them before the Christmas party.

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees when you are ready to bake.

Shape dough into little balls on your cookie sheets. Place about 3 inches apart. Flatten with a knife in criss-cross patterns with a fork dipped in sugar.

Bake 9 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Let them cool for about five minutes before moving them from cookie sheet. Let them cool on a wire rack or a glass plate after that. :)

Let me first start out by saying this is MY list, and what was fascinating to me. You might not agree with who I pick, but it's my list.

10) Aaron Rodgers - Green Bay Packers Quarterback. Undefeated this year. - and he's a good football player. Pretty fascinating to watch if you ask me.

9) Justin Timberlake - he was in four movies this year people - and they all were good! I am starting to prefer Justin to acting rather than him singing. oh, and the fact that him and Mila Kunis attending marine corps balls this year was awesome & pretty fascinating.

8) Jennifer Aniston - Not only was she voted the #1 hottest woman of all time, she was picked #8 for my list! She should feel so proud (haha) Love her, and all her movies. She is so fashionable and I am seriously jealous of her hot body.

7) Charlie Sheen - Let's face it, the guy cracked me up this year. #winning

6) Simon Cowell - so so so glad he brought the X-factor to USA this year. I seriously love this show and it reminded me how much I missed him on American Idol. Love this guy and all his quirky, funny sayings like "what a bloody mess!" On a side note, I do prefer X-factor to American Idol now.

5) Ryan Gosling - He made some really good movies this year. - and he is getting better looking with age. I mean, who can really blame me for picking this adorable face.

4)Jim Parsons AKA Sheldon Cooper - Oh Wow, I love this guy. Jim Parsons is his actual name but he plays the ultra funny, non-social genius on Big Bang Theory. Yes, I know Big Bang has acutally been out since 2007 but I WAS just introduced to it this year, and I have to say that show is quite fascinating - and so is Sheldon Cooper. I tell my husband all the time that Sheldon Cooper is my boyfriend. :) If you haven't seen this show, YOU MUST! :)

3) Rob Kardashian - Before you start going all judgey on me for picking a Kardashian, let me elaborate. This kid was on Dancing with the stars -and he made it all the way to the end losing out to J.R. The reason he is on my list is because it WAS so fascinating to watch him improve every week and actually make it to the end. And somehow over the course of the 10 weeks, he began to win my heart. (I sorta wanted him to win the whole show, but I KNEW no one was going to beat J.R)

2) Steve Jobs - I'm a huge apple fan, thus a huge Steve Jobs fan. This guy is iconic. So sad to see him go, but I know his legacy will live on with Apple.

1) Kate Middleton - I picked her as my #1 because of the HUGE royal wedding and because she is so graceful, and looks so nice all the time. Always has a smile and every time I see a magazine with her picture on the cover - I am always looking to see what adorable outfits she has on.

Being at home. . .

So, I've come to terms with the fact that I am ready to go back to work.

I've known being a stay at home mom wasn't in the cards for me when I got pregnant, and I always knew I would work - and these last 8 weeks have pretty much validated my terms of going back to work.

Being a stay at home mom just isn't in the cards for me. 8 weeks into my 12 week maternity leave and I'm pretty much ready to go back, I wont though because I want the full 12 weeks with Taylor (and I'm hoping to have a big supply of frozen breast milk before I go) - but, I've got to be honest and say "I'm really getting bored" - not bored of taking care of Taylor (obviously) but bored of everything else. I'm bored when she's sleeping. My house has never been so organized, been so clean, and I am coming up with neat and new ideas to do around the house. My home office cabinets are re-filed, and put into alphabetical order and I'm starting to prep meals at 11:00 in the day for dinner, just because I feel there isn't enough to do. I've searched online for tons of recipes to make, and even that's getting boring. (and if you know me, you know I LOVE to cook)

As much as so many moms love staying at home, I just simply can't do it, and I'm okay with it.

Heck, my husband can tell I am bored because I made him go out last week and buy a tool so he can make me some shelves so I can go shopping to decorate them!

I use to complain all the time about my busy schedule, going to work, cleaning the house, cooking dinner, keeping up with dinner dates, working from home, and maintaining some what of a social life - but I never really knew how much I appreciated my busy lifestyle until now.

Yes, Yes, I am fully aware that I won't be able to do as much with a newborn (she's 2 months today) - but I think going back to work will be able to break my boredom a little bit. Plus, I feel refreshed, re-organized and ready to get back to work with a positive attitude and start the new year off with a bang! I go back January 9th.

Family Updates.

This past week has been extremely busy for our little family :)

This week on December 6th, the hubby and I celebrated our third anniversary as a married couple - I decided to be a horrible wife this year and not remind my sweet hubby of our anniversary- I wanted to see if he remembered, which seriously can't be that hard to remember considering when his birthday comes up he should know he has an anniversary soon too :) WELL, my sweet hubby did remember our anniversary and I must say I was very impressed considering all that we have going on right now, especially now that we have a baby! He bought me a card, and gave me a gift certificate to shop at one of my favorite places. - and horrible wife that I am, didn't even get a card and didn't get him anything for our anniversary. (but if it's any consolation, I did just have his baby, make sure the house is clean every day, and cook him dinner all year round, but who's making a big deal out of that, haha)

Thursday (yesterday) was my sweet hubbys birthday (the 8th) and we celebrated by going to his new favorite restaurant called the Rusty Saw Smokehouse (which if you are a michigander, you'll absolutely love the brisket and smoke ribs there- amazing, they are located in Saginaw, Michigan - it's worth the trip) - and I got him a couple hats online from his favorite store - which they did not come in on time, so I had to show him the hats on my IPhone at dinner.

Today, my sweet Taylor is 8 weeks old. I can't believe how big she is getting. At her one month check up she finally weighed 8 lbs 14 oz and I'm guessing now she might be over 10 lbs. We don't find out until her next check up on the 16tth. I'll keep you posted on her progress! :)

Suffering from varicose veins?

I know this sounds a bit odd, but one of the things I did suffer from during pregnancy was varicose veins. They came in late during my pregnancy around like the 8 1/2 month mark, or maybe before. I didn't start noticing them until the 8 1/2 mark though. It was not fun. I was happy it was September / October so I could cover up my legs!

Interesting enough, I learned the that varicose veins in leg are common with pregnant women. Varicose veins can cause a lot of problems such as spider veins, numbness, soreness or aching, and even turn your skin tone brown.

Most people over the age of 50 suffer from varicose veins too.

To me, it was more of an embarrasing factor. The spider veins went away about a week or two after I had Taylor (thank god) but for most people they need to seek treatment. IF you are one of these people and you'd like more information, make sure you check out the metro vein clinic. I always have the HARDEST time coming up with cool and neat ideas for myself. Usually, I can get everyone else done easy and I have to say I'm a good gift-giver (pats myself on the back). We recently got hit here with snow so I was thinking "Oh, a new pair of boots would be nice" - they have so many different types/styles of boot out there. One of the latest styles of shoes is blowfish shoes, they are so adorable! I've always been a fan of fur boots! :)
