Pastor Conference Update

Nancy and I had a good day at the SCBC Pastor's Conference today. One of my favorite Evangelist preached today (Baily Smith). He was awesome! We got to see many old friends and had dinner with Evangelist Tim Fowler and Scott Eadie. There were some good songs and much praise and worship. The convention starts tomorrow and this will be a busy day. See you Wednesday at church. I was able to talk to one of my long time buddy's Volley Gibbs today also. Nancy is tired and has laid down to rest for the night.

SCBC

The South Carolina Baptist Pastor's Conference is tomorrow in Columbia, SC. The SCBC will begin Tuesday through Wednesday. We will attend the Conference and Convention. There will be no visitation tomorrow night at SFBC. This is a great time during the year to see all our old friends and stay in touch with the Convention. We will discuss the hiring practice of the SCBC in one of our session this week. Many people do not like the idea of hiring people outside the Baptist faith. This will most likely cause a heated debate. This will come to a vote. Please pray for God's will to be done.

Divorce Recovery Class

Starting Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. there will be a class for people who have been divorced. This class will help you go through the 10 steps of recovery. It will help you heal and go on with your life. If you know any person who could benefit from this class invite them to attend. Nancy Allen will be leading this class. Please pray for the people in our church who have suffered because of divorce. Anyone is welcome to attend this class whether you just divorced or if you've been divorced for a long time. We will look for you Sunday.

Fall Festival 2009

We were so blessed to have such a good turn out for our Fall Festival. Thanks for all the help you gave to make this a good project for our community. We followed up on some of the visitors last night at our visitation program.

Jesus Still Saves!

It still amazes me when God reaches down into a human heart and saves a soul. Sharing the Word of God is still the best and only way to see God do His stuff on a person. We simply just repeat what God has said and He will do a work in the heart of a nonbeliever. As we go in our daily lives we must live out the truth of God's Word. Last night Boyce Francum went with me visiting. We were able to share the gospel with a mother and daughter and they both got saved. It was a most exciting time. This is what we call "on the job training". He had been several times and no one got saved, but by not giving up he finally got to experience seeing a soul saved. We need more Christians wanting to share the gospel. Thank you Lord for the souls you saved and the blessing of allowing me to show someone else how you work. It's all about Jesus! We now have 16 to baptize Sunday night. Praise God!

Clarence Miller died this past Friday in Blacksburg, SC. He was 65 years old. I was asked by his family to preach at his funeral. Clarence was one of my former church members at Broad River Baptist Church, Blacksburg, SC. His father was a Baptist preacher as well as one of his brothers. Clarence was a good church member and encourage me during my years at BRBC. Many friends showed up for his funeral at the church.

I went to Northbrook Baptist Church with Adrian and family Sunday morning. Dr. Wayne Dickard preached from the book of Nehemiah chapter 1 about revival and repentance. Nancy and I left the church and went to Blacksburg, SC to the funeral of Clarence Miller at 2:00 p.m.

I carried Landen to the musical Christmas play practise at Northbrook Baptist Church. Following the practise we attended the Sunday evening worship service at 6p.m. Brother Wayne preached from Romans 10. It was a good service.

You can learn things from going to other churches when you're on vacation. It was a good day.

Four Days Late, He's Still On time!

Glory came down last night at revival! Shawn Calcutt sang "Four Days Late" three times in a row. There was some shouting going on. Bro. Tim Fowler stood up to preach and what a glorious sermon he preached on Lazarus. It was awesome. There was much weeping and praying around the altar. One more night to go before tim goes back to Spartanburg, SC. Come on out and see what the Lord is doing. Daniel Allen, my son will be singing tonight. Praying for Heaven to come down as we worship.

I had a great fall last night coming down from the stage. Something happen and I fell down the steps to the bottom floor. I'm sore this morning in both my knees. I will be OK. I'll will be sore for several days. See you tonight.

Four more saved last night. Praise God!

Believing God!

Revival began yesterday morning with a good attendance. We have fasted and prayed for this revival meeting. We are believing God for a fresh new beginning for this church year. The vision we have is clear and possible. By this time next year we want to have upward soccer and football on the 4 acres behind our youth building. We are believing God to give us new workers for this endeavor. We need to grow and reach the goal of 300 plus in Sunday School by this time next year. Keep the joy in your hearts and God will give us what we need. When the joy of serving is gone we have a tendency to get lazy in our service. Stay prayed up and keep your hearts clean. God only uses clean vessels to do His work.

We still have many people sick with the flu virus. The rain today and the rest of the week will hinder some people from coming to revival services. I pray you will not stay home because of rain. Come on out and enjoy the preaching of God's Word.

Revive Us Again!

Revival is a time during the year we see people come to a closer walk with God. We are doing what we can to draw closer to our Lord. I challenge each person to have a "Fast" for the Revival services. We can put forth an effort to fast and pray for God's Glory. I always seek to see God's Glory at our services. Moses asked God to let him see His Glory, God had Moses behind a rock, the Lord passed by and Moses got a glimpse of the after glow of the Glory of God. It's an awesome experience to see God's Glory. Conditions have to be met for God to show His Glory. I want to see His Glory! Come see what the Lord will do.

Church Growth

We have had a great year at SFBC. We had 74 additions to our church during this past year. Attendance is up in every area of church work. Tithes are 3 % above last year. People are growing spiritually and getting more involved in outreach. This is only a God thing we are experiencing! God blesses who He wants to bless. I do believe when we meet certain conditions that God lays out in the Bible He will honor His people. I'm so happy to be a pastor of a growing church. Let's win some for His Name sake!

What an awesome meeting we had with our men Thursday evening. As always, we started out with some good eating. The men bring dishes of food to each meeting. We have a good time of fellowshipping around the table. Mike brought a very good message from 2 Samuel 22 dealing with strong leaders lifting up their pastor. Jeffery and I were seated in chairs as the men prayed over us. The power of prayer is awesome. The meeting continued on with testimonies from the men. These meetings have a tendency to go on for hours. When God shows up time flies by. We had 36 men attend this months meeting. I thank God for our men and their desire to serve Him.

Harry Oliver had surgery today at Mcleod Hospital. He has cancer of the bladder. The cancer was removed today from bladder. Keep him in your prayers. He's on the 9th floor.

Jim Caudler is having surgery Monday @ Spartanburg Regional Hospital, Spartanburg, SC. Keep Jim in your prayers.

Bradley Wilson is having surgery Monday @ MUSC. This is the baby of Adam & Brooks Wilson. Keep Bradley in your prayers.

Men on Mission

Some our our men on mission are cooking up some chickens tonight for chicken bog plates tomorrow. Boiling chicken and separating the meat from the bones is a hard task. The dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. in the new fellowship hall tomorrow evening. A love offering will be taken. Come on out and help our men's group. Hope to see you early at SFBC. We have a very special golf outing this coming Saturday. We are having our first "Phillip Amerson" Golf Tournament at Myrtle Beach, SC. Tomorrow night wll be last chance to sign up at church. We already have around 32 men signed up ready to go. Come on out and join us for a day of fun and fellowship. i'll look forward to seeing you there. Bus leaves at 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

Renee' Springs father passed away early yesterday. Family will meet tonight at Stoudenmire & Dowling Funeral Home on Irby Street, Florence, SC from 6:00 p.m. til 8:00 p.m. Her father was Earnest Hill. Funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Stoudenmire & Dowling Funeral Home. Keep this family in your prayers.

Upstate Evangelism Conference

Nancy and I are at the Hampton Inn Hotel in Spartanburg, SC. We just got in from a very good preaching service at Northbrook Baptist Church, Boiling Springs, SC. The man who wrote the "Midnight Cry" was there to sing the song. He was awesome! Dr. Steve Hoag, pastor at First Baptist Rock Hill, SC preached a sermon on having passion. He did good as he shared about losing passion and how God brought him back to have passion. We all have been there. Dr. Herb Reavis, pastor at North Jacksonville Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Florida preached in Luke 15 about the prodigal son. God loves us all no matter what we've done in our lives. He loves the drunk, the dope addict, the whore, the gay, the bald, the long hair, the boy with his under pants pulled up to his arm pits, the boy with his pants down around his knees, He just keeps on loving and showing the lost just how much He cares. Jesus loves us all.

The elder son did not like the Father giving a party because the younger son had come home. The elder son is a picture of church members who are lost and don't care about anyone but themselves.

Please Send Workers to Help Us!

Church has been busy this week. The work is never complete. There is always something that needs to be done. People need someone to love and care about them. Studying is so important so I can preach the Word. Outreach will bring new people into the church. Training people to witness and teach the Bible is an awesome task. Paul said, he was a wise master builder. He built churches from the ground up. We need more workers in many areas of our church. I pray God will send labours to our field of work. It takes many to keep a church floating. Without workers there is no church with purpose. I pray with people all week long believing God is going to do a great work in our church family. I pray some will be saved at each service. We have a new church year coming up and I want us to be ready for the growth God is going to give us. We will have some new teachers and deacons serving our church in 2010. We have a few more precious souls to baptize this month. We finally got our letter from the Army Corp Engineers to begin work on the 4 acres of land behind youth building. We have a vision to clear that land and start upward football and soccer. We need people to work in this area of our church in about 1 year.

Doing the Work!

I'm so happy to start a new year at SFBC. I have been pastor at SFBC 18 years as of June of 2009. What a wonderful thing God has done for us during these years of service. We just finished completing our Nominating process yesterday. It will be ready for the churches approval by next week. Teachers and leaders have been secured for another year of working for Jesus. We've had around 40 baptisms this church year. The attendance has increased in all areas of church ministries. Three new deacons will be elected the second Sunday in August. What a wonderful opportunity to serve our Lord by being a deacon. God has saved some precious souls the last several months and they are growing in the Spirit. By next year they will be ready to serve in some type ministry. We are 3% above our tithes this same month as we were last year. God has His Hand on this church family. We hope to prepare the 4 acres of land behind youth building into an upward football and soccer by next year. Come on out and join the fellowship with our loving church family.

VBS Updates!

VBS at SFBC has been great this week. I'm so proud of all the workers who have given the Lord a good weeks work. It takes a large group of people to make VBS work in a church our size. Mrs. Janet Ham, our VBS Director has put together a good team. From the feeding of 250 plus every night to the classes being full is awesome. We reached an enrollment of 319 last night. This is the biggest crowd we ever had in VBS. The boys and girls are learning so much about the Lord Jesus. It is wonderful to see 70 plus adults in Bible classes each evening. Everyone seems to enjoy the crafts they are working on each night. We are praying for souls to be saved before the week is over. Keep praying for the hearts to open up for Jesus. See you tonight.
