Flat Trax Hair Extensions - Video shoot model call

Production of the Flat Trax Hair Extensions Teqhnique video is underway and we need a model who is willing to be filmed!

Filming will take place at Impressions Salon in Kennewick on May 27th, 2011. The model will get the extensions installed free of charge in exchange for helping with the video shoot. A professional photographer will also be on site and the model can negotiate for photographs with the photographer.

Wigs for Kids ~ Children in need of hair replacement

A few months ago, I got a phone call from a young mother whose little girl had lost most of her hair after having brain surgery to remove a tumor. She was looking for a place to get an inexpensive human hair wig that would fit her child. They had found something that just was not working and had very little money to spend.

I offered to look into options for her and even at my cost, the options were well above her price range. In a flash of inspiration, I offered to make her daughter a wig, thinking it would only take me a couple of weeks with my other commitments. I found a wig cap and bought remy, curly extension wefts and proceeded to make the wig according to the size of the very little girls head.

Let's just say it was a bigger job than I at first thought.

After several weeks, needing to order more hair, a delivery delay at the post office and hoping it would fit and they would like it, I finally finished the wig.

As I was making final adjustments to it, I thought, "there should be an organization that provides wigs for children like Layla."

Layla and her mom came over for the wig and she was so excited. She was all smiles! She had been waiting for this for weeks and now was getting to have hair again.

I was so glad I was able to help them and have encountered families like theirs many times over the years. So I did a little research for next time (because there will be a next time) and here is what I found:

I thought about starting my own non-profit...briefly. That is a lot of work and a business all of it's own. So instead what I am going to do is promote these other organizations and make contributions to them with the help of my customers, clients and friends.

Also, if I have clients that want me to fit their child and order a custom hair system for them, I will do it at cost plus applicable taxes. Since I'm not a non-profit and can't offer tax exemptions for donations and must charge sales tax, I will also use 5% of my business profits to help offset the costs for my clients. Families and friends are encouraged to help with this as well.

Frequently asked questions about Flat Trax

How long will they last?

Flat Trax will last as long as your take good care of them. Remy hair can last up to a year, but will wear out faster if you do a lot of styling with hot tools, etc.

How long can I keep them in?
This is important. I don't recommend leaving the extensions in longer than 6-8 weeks at a time. Even if your hair grows slowly, it will be shedding and the shed hair will remain in the tracks and cause major tangles if left in longer than that. You can leave them in longer if you wish, but we may charge extra to take them out if your hair is very tangled as a result.

Well it's about time it happened. Someone came up with a way for the average person to take advantage of the power of the Internet to make money. We have all heard the stories (and seen the movies) about the young internet billionaires whose websites made them rich. Well now it's our turn...!

Ok it may not be billions, but definitely a great way to make thousands of dollars of residual income doing something most of us do every day - social networking.

The website is called crazygood.com. And that is exactly what it is... a CRAZY Good idea! On this site, every person can:
1. Socialize with their friends near and far
2. Give money to their favorite charity or non-profit organization
3. and best of all get paid for doing it!

I'm already a member and I really think you should become a member too! You may be wondering how this works. It's pretty simple.

The membership is $10 per month.
10% of that goes to the charities.
50% of that goes back to the members
and the remaining 40% is used to operate the site and of course pay the site's owners. ( it is a business afterall)

So what that means for us is that for every person we refer and 5 levels of people our friends refer, we get paid $1. (10%x5 levels = 50%)

Your charity also gets $1 of your membership fee per month and anyone who chooses to support your charity.

After you refer 10 people to Crazygood, your membership is basically free ($1 x 10 = $10)

If you only refer 10 people and each of these people refer 10, you now have income of $100 per month. If each of these people refer 10 five levels deep, your income becomes $111,110!!! How's that for residual income?

So, some of you may be wondering what happened to Just Hair by Head 2 Toe in Kennewick.

Here's the scoop...
I closed Just Hair in August of 2009. Too much stress and overhead. After briefly retailing as an employee in a local salon I took a break from the hair biz to go back to school. For the last year I have been getting my masters degree in Internet Marketing and in two weeks I will be DONE!!! YAY!

I kept this blog up and running as a way to use my new knowledge in all things Internet and to keep a way to share information with people and past customers.

As a result, I was getting calls that showed there was still a huge interest in what I had to offer so I decided to bring my knowledge of hair back to the Tr-Cities once I finish my degree.

Beginning in April, 2011, I will resume operations under the name "Hair by Crystal" in a salon located in Richland. (details on the exact location will be announced soon) I have two fantastic licensed hair stylists I will be referring services to - including my trademarked hair extension technique called FLAT TRAX.

Move over eBay...the free online auction sites are comin! I was trying to figure out a way to sell my remaining inventory online without paying for a website or eBays listing and final sale fees and I came across WEBSTORE.com. It's an auction site that lets you post items for sale or auction and there's no charge. It is very similar to eBay in many ways. You can list items individually or set up a store if you have multiple listings.

Synthetic lace front wigs have literally flooded the market in the last 24 months. Every wig maker has their version and the prices have dropped significantly since my first post.

So with so many options, which synthetic lace front wig is the best?
Take a look at this video to learn more about cap construction and how the wigs are made can affect the price. Just remember, less lace = less expensive. An all lace wig will be a great fitting wig that costs more and will probably give you more styling options. The look of these wigs is nearly the same...nearly.
