Introduction:
Intelligence is a statge grasping the truth, involving reason, concerned with action about what is good or bad. Intelligent behaviour is the behaviour of a machine, which is performed by a human being.
British artificial intelligence (AI) Pioneer Alan Turing in 1950 proposed a test for determining if machines could think. John McCarthy at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) coined the term AI in 1956.
Artificial Intelligence is probably one of the most successful branches of a broad area of computing. AI attempts to provide machiines with capabilities and characteristics that would indicate intelligence in human being. AI is the branch of computer science that is the ability of computers to have some IQ power, logic and decision making capability and work as if it is done by people. AI is based on knowledge. AI is the combination of computer science, biology, psycology, linguistics, mathematics and engineering. AI covers such fields as expert systems, problem solving, robot control, intelligence, database querying and pattern recognition.

Components of AI
A broad division of AI can be as follows:
1. Natural Language Processing: This involves the study, understanding and processing of natural languages so as to provide natural language interface to information systems, machine translation etc.
2. Computer Vision: This requires an ability to recognize shapes, features etc automatically and in turn automate movement through robots.
3. Heuristic Problem Solving: This consists of solving problems that are probably hard by smart methods, but it quickly evaluates in a small number of candidate solutions to get to the optimal or near optimal solution.
4. Expert System: This is also known as knowledge-based system. It is a software designed to capture the knowlodge and problem-solving skills of human expert. It has three main engine and a user interface.

\Applications of AI
One aspect of artificially intelligent computers is that they should be capable of learning and therefore improving their system at given task. Computers will be successfully trained to be capable of recognize accurately a face of human beings, to recognize an under ground train station as being crowded or not. AI is applied for game playing, speech recognition, understanding natural language, computer vision, expert systems, and heuristic classification. Some AI methods in particular knowledge, scanning e-mail, documents, databases to perform knowledge discovery, identifying patterns in data, forecasting future results using existing knowledge, providing advice directly from knowledge, providing natural language or voice recognition. Some latest commercial applications of AI are
1. Decision Support: Intelligent work environment exists which helps in engineering or similar types of designs. They have an intelligent repository of knowledge. The intelligent agents thus facilitate decision-making.

3. Virtual Reality: Medical science education exists at a virtual level for it is difficult to experience each and everything we study. AI based automated animation interfaces are now in a position to give a student a feel of how it's like to touch an artery.
4. Robotics: Machine vision inspections systems that identify measure and inspect products. The term computer ethics was first coined by Walter Maner in the Mid-1970s. It started being integrated into professional development programs in academic settings only from 1990s with the growth of the internet, privacy issues as well as concerns regarding computing technologies such as spyware and other. It is rapidly evloving into a broader and even more important field, which might reasonably be called global information ethics. Ethics is a major branch of philosophy, encompassing right comduct and good life. it is significantly broader than the common conception of analyzing right and wrong. New ethical and legan decisions are necessary to balance the needs and rights of every one. Computer ethics, a branch of practical philospphy deals with computing which is related to moral dilemmas and also defines ethical principles for computer professionals. It deals how computing professionals should make decisions undertaking professional and social conduct. this applied ethics studies and analyzes social and ethical impacts of information technology. It is growning and changing in the same pace as that of the development of computer technology. Golbal networks like the Internet and especially the world wide web are connecting pepole all over the earth. It is integrating standards of professional practice, codes of conduct, aspects of computer law, public policy, corporate ethics even certain topics in the sociology and psychology of computing.

It is a fact that legality does not completely encompass computer ethics. Identifying ethical issues as they arise, as well as difining how to deal with them, has traditionally been problematic in computer ethics. Collins and Miller proposed a method of identifying issues in computer ethics in their Paramedic Ethics model. this model is a data-centred view of judging ethical issues, involving the gathering, analysis, negotiation, and judging of data about the issue. In Davis's unique problem solving model the ethical problem is stated, facts are checked and a list of options are generated by considering relevent factors relating to the problem. The actual actions taken is influenced by specific ethical standards. One of the most definitive sets of ethical standards is the Association for Computing Machinery Code of Ethics. The code is a four-point standard governing ethical behaviour among computing professionals. Another body of computer ethics is the British Computer Society. The Uniform Computer Information Transactions Act (UCITA) defines ethical behaviour from the standpoint of legality, specifically during the contracting process of computing.
THe Ten Commandments of Computer Ethics were created in 1992 by the Computer Ethics Institute and were introduced in the paper by ramon C. Barquin as means to create a set of standards to guide and instruct people in the ethical use of computers. They are:
1. Thou shalt not use computer to harm other people.
2. Thou shalt not interfere with other people's computer work.
3. Thou shalt not snoop around in other people's computer files.
4. Thou shalt not use a computer to steal.
5. Thou shalt not use a computer to bear false witness.
6. Thou shalt not copy or use proprietary software for whic you have not paid.
7. Thou shalt not use other people's computer resources without authorization or proper compensation.
8. thoul shalt not appropriate other people's intellectual output.
9. Thou shalt think about the social consequences of the program you are writing or the system you are designing.
10. Thou shalt always use a computer in ways that insure consideration and respect for your fellow humans.

Computer Ethics are in attention through:
1. Privacy:
One of the earliest computer ethics topics to arouse public interest was privacy. In the early 1970s, major computer privacy laws were passed in the USA. Ever since then, computer-threatened privacy has remained as a topic of public concern. The ease and efficiency with which computers and computer networks can be used to gather, store search, compare, retrieve and share personal information make computer technology especially threatening to tanyone who wishes to keep various kinds of sensitive information out of the hands of those who are perceived as potential threats. During the past decade, commercialization and rapid growth of the internet; the rise of the world-wide-web; increasing user-friendliness and processing power of computers; and decreasing costs of computertechnology have led to new privacy issues, such as data-mining, data matching, recording of click trails on the web, and so on.

2. Computers in the Workplace:
Workers will feel stressed trying to keep up with high-speed computerized devices or they may be injured by repeating the same physical movement over and over. Their health may be threatened by radiation emanating from computer monitors. The employment outlook, however, is not all bad. Consider, for example, the fact that the computer industry already has generated a wide variety of new jobs: hardware engineers, softare engineers, systems analysts, webmasters, information technology teachers, computer sales clerks, and so on. Thus it appears that, in the short run, computer-generated unemployment will be an important social problem; but in the long run, information technology will create many more jobs then it eliminates. Even when computers do not eliminate a job, it can be radically altered.

3. Intellectual Property
One of the more controversial areas of computer ethics concerns the intellectual property rights connected with software ownership. Some people thing that software should be ownable. Some people, like Richard Stallman who started the Free Software Foundation, believe that software ownership should not be allowed at all. He claims that all information should be free, and all programs should be available for copying, studying and modifying by anyone who wishes to do so. Today's software industry is a multibillion dollar part of the economy; and software companies claim to lose billions of dollars per year through illegal of the aspects of the program that can be own are like source code, object code, algorithm as well as user interface and the appearance of the program.

4. Professional Responsibility
It is clear that professional organizations in computer science recognize and insist upon standards of professional responsibility for their members. No professional can stay in a business for a long time without a rigorous and enforced code of professional ethics. So every computer professional need to work remain strictly under computer ethics as that prescribed by the law or code of conduct of that company. The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) of USA, ahve established codes of ethics, curriculum guidelines and accreditation requirements to help computer professionals responsibilities. In 1991 a Joint Curriculum Task Force of the ACM and IEEE adopted a set of guidelines called Curriculum 1991 for college programs in computer science. The guidelines say that a significant component of computer ethics should be included in undergraduate education in cumputer science. Some of the codes of ethics adopted by both ACM and IEEE are general moral imperatives like avoid harm to others and be honest and trustworthy as well as more specific professional responsibilities like acquire and maintain professional competence and know and respect existing laws pertaining to professional work, etc.

5. Computer Crime
In the era of computer viruses and international spying by hackers who are thousands of miles away, computer security is a topic of concern in the field of Computer Ethics. Privacy and confidentiality, Integrity, Unimpaired service, Consistency, Controlling access to resources are five aspects of logical security divide by Spafford, Heaphy and Ferbrache. Computer security is essential for the intentional as well as accidental misuse of data. It whould be maintained for the trusted computer users. The major risks to computer security is against the so-called hacker who breaks into someone's computer system without permission.
There are number of questions that are frequently discussed under the rubric of computer ethics. There are some more terms like plagiarism, copyright infrigement, software piracy, adult sites and erotica newsgroups, obscenity, hacking, etc that are performed against the computer ethical principles. Plagiarism is the process of copying information from another computer or even from internet i.e. illegally as if it was done by him. Plagiarizing copyrighted materials is called copyright for small people (below 18 years) even though they try to access. The intention of sex education is twisted to naughty entertainment purpose, even at eh office another computer system. Some hackers intentionally steal data or commit vandalish, while others merely explore the system to see how it works and what files it contains.
Computer crime or abuse are increasing in a same speed as the wide spread or development of IT. Computer abuse refers to act that are legal but unethical. For this, there exists a Cyber law to govern the legal issues of cyberspace. Cyber space include computer, Computer network, Internet, Software, Data, etc. Cyber law is the law or acts or rules framed and adopted by the organizations for safe guarding against the digital that are performed by the people willfully to damage, make loss, steal information, etc.
Nothing is absolutely right or wrong, which depends upon its use and implementation. If it is intended for positive aspect it is advantageous to all. If the same thing is used in other way it will turn in to an abusle.

Renaming the start button

If you want to rename your start button, the first thing you'll need is hex editor.
My preference is UltraEdit
The steps are:-

Copy the \windows\explore.exe file to a new name (e.g. explorer_1.exe)
With the hex editor, open that file and go to offset 412b6
You will see the word start with blanks between each letter
Edit it be any 5 characters or less
Save the file
Boot to DOS
Copy the existing c:\windows\explorer.exe to explorer.org
Copy explorer_1.exe to explorer.exe
You will also need to replace the explorer.exe in the c:\windows\system32\dllcache file as well with the new one.

Note: If your partition is NTFS then you cannot access the files from DOS:

Start Regedit
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon.
Change the value of Shell from Explorer.exe to explorer_1.exe

Historical Evolution Of Computers

*Abacus: Abacus was the first manual calculating device. It is a portable device that consists of beads stung on wires or wooden rods. It is divided into two parts by a mid bar. It was the predecessor of computer used for counting and adding purpose during 5000 BC to 2000 BC. It is said that it has its origins in ancient China, Egypt and Greece.

*Napier's Bones:John Napier invented a computing device called Napier's Bones consisting of eleven sticks with numbers carved on them in 1617. These sticks were made of bone and wood. It helped in multiplication and division problems involving large numbers.

*Slide Rule: William Oughtred, an English mathematician, invented slide rule in 1620 that was used for calculations by using the principle of logarithm. There are two movable graduated scales on the scale slides or slips upon the other with the arrangement of the two scales. It is easy to find the product, quotient or any other functions simply viewing on the scales.

*Pascaline: In 1642 AD, a French scientist Blaise Pascal invented the first true mechanical calculating device called Pascaline. Pascaline consists of toothed wheels or gears with each wheel or gear having digits 0 to 9 engraved in it. The machine had capacity to add, subtract 8-bit number. It could not perform multiplication and division.

*Leibniz Calculating Machine :In 1671, Gottfried Van Leibnitz, a German mathematician invented a calculating machine called Leibniz Calculating Machine. In 1964, a modification was made by using stepped dials and cylinder Stepped Reckoner. The Stepped Reckoner could perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Leibniz was the first to advocate the use of binary number system which is fundamental to the operation of modern computers.

*Jacquard's Loom: Joseph Marie Jacquard, a French weaver, invented automated loom in 1804. He used punched cards to produce complex cloth patterns with automatic loom. Its function depended upon the absence or presence of holes on the punched card. In this way, it paved the way for the modern storage mechanism on punched cards and the binary coding system.

*Difference Engine: Charles Babbage, an English mathematician, invented a device called Difference Engine, a mechanical computer, in 1823. It was based on principle that the difference between certain values of the expression at a certain stage becomes constant. So it was used to solve different equations. unfortunately, Difference Engine was never fully constructed due to lack of money as well as mechanical problems.

*Analytical Engine: Encouraged by the success of Difference Engine Charles Babbace came up with another device called Analytical Engine, a mechanical computer, in 1833. It used concepts of Automated loom and Difference Engine. It had five units like inpute, output, store, mill and control that are similar to the units of a modern computer. He showed his work to a lady mathematician, Ada. She found his Analytical Engine a marvelous idea and was sure that it would function if it were constructed. She, therefore, went on encouraging Babbage to make effort to turn blueprint into a working model but due to lack of money and advanced technology of that time, it was never completed. he eventually died as a dissappointed man. Though he could not achieve his aim of producing a computer, his ideas formed the basis for future developments. That is why he is known as father of modern computer science.

*Lady Ada: Lady Augusta Ada Lovelace was the disciple of Charles, Babbage. She was the daughter of great poet Lord Bayron. She gave an idea to use binary numbers to Charles Babbage in his analytical machine. She was known as the first programmer in the computer history. The Analytical Engine remained unbuilt but Ada earned her spot in history as the first computer programmer. Ada invented the subroutine and was the first to recognize the importance of looping.

*Tabulating Machine: Dr. Herman Hollerich (An American census statistician) invented a tabulating machine in 1887. He developed a device which could automatically read the census information that punched onto card. His machine cwas capable of reading both numbers and letters, processing them and giving out letters and numbers in the desired form of punched cards and combination of holes formed the code of input data.

*Mark-I: Howard H. Aiken, an American professor, developed an automatic calculating machine called mark-I in 1937 but it was completed in 1944. It was also known as Automatic Sequence Controlled Calculator. It was the first electromagnetic digital computer. It was very huge in size. It was over 50 feet lone and 8 feet high using 18000 vacuum tubes and it had more than 750000parts, weighted approximately 32 tons and about 500 miles of wires.

*ABC (Atnasoff Berry Computer): John V Atnasoff, an American mathematician, with his graduate student Clifford Berry invented ABC (Atnasoff Berry Computer) in 1937 AD. It was the first electronic special purpose computer. It was used for solving systems of simultaneous equations.

*ENIAC (Electronic Numerical And Integrated Calculator) = In 1946, John William Mauchley and Jeorge Persper Eckert, at the Moore school of electrical engineering of university of Pannsylvania constructed ENIAC. It weighed 30 tons, contained 18000 vacuum tubes and occupied a space of 30*30 feet. It was used for preparingballistictables, weather prediction, atomic energy calculations, and random number studies.

*EDSAC (Electronic Delay Storage Automatic Computer): It was invented by Maurice Wilkes at Cambridge University in 1949. It used 3000 vacuum tubes, 30 KV of electric power. In EDSAC, addition operations took 1500 microseconds and multiplication operations took 1500 microseconds and multiplication operation took 4000 microseconds.

*EDVAC (Electronic Discrete Variable Automatic Computer): In 1952, John Mauchly and J.P Eckert and John Von Neumann invented EDVAC. It was used to store data as well as instructions. It used 4000 vacuum tubes and 10000 crystal diodes. It used the stored program concept in its design.

* UNIVAC (Universal Automatic Computer): It was the first general purpose elecatronic computer invented by John Mauchly and J.P. Eckert in 1951. It was operational in the Census Bureau of U.S. in early 1951. It was the first digital computer that was not of a single kind. UNIVAC marked the arrival of commercially available digital computer for business and scientific applications.
