2012 Pro Bowl Game

It's Pro Bowl Sunday! Another season of football is officially wrapping up next Sunday with the "Super Bowl" and the college football season wrapped up earlier this month with the University of Alabama winning their 14th National Championship over the LSU Tigers. I'm sure my spouse will be estatic that there will be no more football on TV, at least until August. Ok, what will we do with our time?????

Ok, even I'll admit that there is more to life than "football".....we at PD Piddles have started the year off great. We are preparing for our first Birmingham Home & Garden Show from February 16th - 19th. We are working hard to bring our newest products to the show.

It's that time of year again....literally. Where did 2011 go?
2011 will be remembered as the year of global tragedies including the Japanese earthquakes and sunami, the death of Osama bin Laden, the trial of century of Casey Anthony, the royal wedding, the attempted assassination of a US Senator - Gabrielle Giffords and the six individuals that died, Steve Jobs losing his battle with cancer, the Joplin tornado disaster along with the the historic spring outbreak of tornado's in Alabama claiming over 240 deaths.

We are looking forward to 2012 being an unbelievable year. We wanted to wish everyone a very "Happy New Year" !!! It is our hope that everyone will be able to realize their dreams coming true during 2012.

Life's too short....live life to the fullest, make the most of your opportunities, count your many blessings and be at peace with life.

There's So Much To Be Thankful For

We traditionally celebrate "Thanksgiving" on the last Thursday of November each year with festive meals and soulful reflection on everything we have in our lives to be thankful for....our families, friends, co-workers, etc.

The first celebration of Thanksgiving was at Plymouth Rock and lasted for 3 days as colonists gave God the glory and thanks for guiding them safely to a New World. The celebration included 13 Pilgrims and 90 Native Americans - what a celebration it must have been.

In a time honored tradition, we will be closed for this very special holiday on Thursday, November 24th and Friday, November 25th. We will re-open on Saturday for the special hours of 9:00am - 12:00pm due to another event called the "Iron Bowl".

Spring is in the air. We have some new garden yard stakes that adds a cute "flair" to your flower gardens. We have the cricket and the lady bug. We have a new product that will be great for the chef in your family, it's the "Pepper Grill". This grill is made out of polished stainless steel and has holes for holding your favorite stuffed chili pepper.

The grill sits on top of your grill and slowly grills your stuffed peppers to a rich and vibrant flavor.

Wow, it's hard to believe that we are already in the Fall Season 2010! You can't tell it by the weather though, the temperatures are still reaching 100 degrees, however we do have a solution to offer for those who want to cool down. A Favorite Past time - Fishing!

One of our favorite "past times" is fishing, other than baseball and football which are traditionally seasonal sports. Fishing is pretty much open all year depending on how "avid" a fisherman you are!

One of our newest designs captures the essence of the "bait and hook" on the bass to the left. We have recently added this new piece to our "Americana Collection" of wall art. It's just a fun piece of art that anyone can appreciate. We bring the action to life!

Where's a Good Bench?

Where's a good bench when you need one? Are you one of those people that love to just sit and watch other people? It can be pretty amusing and interesting at the same time. Let's face it we all have our "quirks".....but when you're looking directly at folks those "quirks" just seem to jump right out at you. One of the best places to people watch is at the mall hands down, I mean the traffic alone is heavy and pretty steady....it could keep you busy for a while and a great form of entertainment I figure.

Speaking of benches, we build custom and unique benches that are sure to draw attention themselves. We made the bench above for a local Mexican Restaurant (Munoz), located in Trussville, AL on Hwy 11 north. Munoz approached us about building some custom decor that would enhance the overall appearance of the restaurant. We started by designing the railing for the outdoor patio that includes authentic southwestern lizards, cactus, etc. as well as some ornamental pieces for the indoor dining.

The bench we built with a "mexican beach" theme in mind and added the Munoz name. The bench made a perfect addition and added a nice flair to the overal concept. The "Welcome Yard Stake"

I couldn't wait to share our latest "yard stake" to our growing collection! We have taken our "Welcome" wall art and tweaked it a bit for a customer to convert it into a yard stake. I think it turned out great and our customer was thrilled with this product!The Welcome yard stake will look great in any yard and add that "homely" feeling to your guest and family as they drop in from time to time.

As with most of our products her at Pd Piddles, we can take a current design and convert or modify it to meet your needs. This newest design was originally requested by a customer to convert the "Welcome" wall art into a traditionaly yard stake with the "name plate" added below. When we began to work with this idea we expounded on it and decided to use a slightly different "stake" that is curved with the welcome design and doesn't obscure the view of the sign it self. As a matter of fact it somewhat resembles a "shepherds hook" design.

We are very flexible with the design, concepts and ideas on any product we offer as well as what our customers suggest or request. With both our ideas working together, we can achieve a fantastic product. We can't tell our customers enough how much we appreciate them and how much their ideas have impacted our designs as well. Where the Heart Is? We've added a new piece to our growing collection that we call "The Heart". There is also a movie called "Where the Heart Is" as well. We can also quote scripture that states "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" Matthew 6:21.

The Heart, is our newest design that is used for the decor of your home. We can customize with colors or even add the scripture reference noted above in vinyl. This piece is made out of mild steel and is light weight so it's a breeze to hang on any wall.

Old Time Classics

One of our all time classic TV shows was "The Andy Griffith Show" starring Andy Griffith, Don Knotts and Ron Howard. We loved watching their comical southern humor. The Show debuted in October 1960 and the series was a "smash" hit. The series lasted 8 seasons and was often the highest rated show in it's time slot.

The main characters often are portrayed as "southern country bumkpkins". In our newest "Framed Wall Art" we have captured the essence of the friendship between Andy and Barney in our collection - "One bullet Barney" and "Sheriff Andy Taylor".

We were fortunate to locate a piece of art that we could transform into our custom metal framed art as seen in the image to the right. This art would make a great addition to anyone's home as a piece of "nostalgia" to reminisce about the "good ole days".

I can often remember as a child watching this very entertaining show and thinking that this was the town that I wish we all lived in where everyone knew each neighbor for better or worse and the community was close knit. As times have evolved over the past 30+ years we have digressed away from that "good ole boy" society, and I can't tell you how much I miss those days. I still have my memories though and there's always "re-runs". Keep it straight between the lines.....

What better way to say "Welcome" or make your home more inviting and warm to your family and visitors. Hospitality is a rich southern tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation. Some call us "good ole boys", others call us "red-necks" and yet others call us "friendly" and "hospitable".

Whatever we are called, we take pride in "welcoming" everyone that comes to our door. Being a southerner is more than just being friendly or welcoming, it's a way of life. We traditionally make our kitchen the room of "conversations" much like a living room or den. We love entertaining, and socializing with family and friends.

We typically move to a slower pace of "life", which actually gives us more of an advantage over more fast-paced generation. By taking life at a little bit slower pace, we absorb more of what life has to offer, and recognize the more important things in life.
We take such joy in living and tends to show through our actions, our conversations and daily walk in life. There's just nothing like sitting out on our porch in a rocker sipping on some "sweet iced tea" and watching nature (generally the birds and squirrels fight over the bird feed).

Summer is one of the best seasons that we enjoy. We get to spend more time outdoors enjoying the early days sunshine and late afternoon thundershowers that are typical during this time of year, however we do get dangerous tornadoes from time to time but so does the mid-west. I personally enjoy the occasional thunderstorm. Listening to a hard rain and thunder can be very therapeutic.

All in all should you find your way down south, and more specifically in Argo, Alabama - look us up, drop in on us and sit a spell. We could certainly use the company, enjoy the conversation. We are located in the Argo shopping village in Argo, Alabama just north of Trussville, Alabama. We look forward to meeting new friends.

Welcome to our blog! We wanted to give a shout out to our latest updated website located at www.pdpiddles.com. We are uploading new products weekly as we create new artwork, design ideas, etc.

Most or our customers prefer a "custom" piece to a "stocked" on the the shelf type product, I think that's absolutely what makes us "unique". Each customer makes a vital impact on our creative "juices". Our main success is due to our valued customers that are always challenging us for new product designs, ideas and overall creativity.

We know we've been successful when our customers have that certain "gleam" in their eye when we reveal their custom product! That's why we take pride in our artistic abilities.

Thankfully God created us all differently. We all have different taste or ideas in most everything we do. You can conduct your own experiment to see what I'm talking about. Go to your local mall, find yourself a comfortable bench (ok, probably not going to be so comfortable) and park it there for a couple hours, then just sit and observe your fellow men and women. I think you'll be quite amused and entertained as well. As amused and entertained as you may have been, remember these are your brothers and sisters in Christ.
