So, a trip to Berry College would not be right without staying around for a jaunt in downtown Rome.  Last fall, I decided to try to make it back by Rome at night.  I thought all the old building would look beautiful.  I expected more light and was disappointed.  However, driving around, I ran across this pedestrian bridge at the intersection of the Oostanaula and Etowah rivers.  It took a few minutes to find a good spot for the reflections.

I am a person who is not caught up on “things”.  That makes it very difficult when it comes to birthdays, Christmas, Fathers Day, Etc.  When asked what I want, my reply is almost always, “nothing”.  It drives my wife nuts and we [...]]]>

I am a person who is not caught up on “things”.  That makes it very difficult when it comes to birthdays, Christmas, Fathers Day, Etc.  When asked what I want, my reply is almost always, “nothing”.  It drives my wife nuts and we have spoke of it in the past.  My response is that I would rather make memories than have stuff.  Hence this site.

So, for Fathers Day this year, I asked to take the kids on a photo shoot.  We went to Berry College, probably one of the most beautiful college campus’ in the world.  And of course, my wife made me get in a couple of the photos too.

I think builders compete with each other to construct and decorate their buildings.  That includes the landscaping and sometimes they come up with some interesting stuff.  This was just a random flower bed in Midtown Atlanta.  I’m sure it has some significance since it was designed around a large statue looking thing.  I thought the flowers were more picturesque than the statue though.

I grew up kayaking in the Appalachian mountains, so water is like a second home to me.  Whenever I get the chance to go wading or paddling, I take it.  This rapid is on a little creek in the middle of nowhere in the North Georgia mountains.  A wonderful place to sit on a rock and dangle your legs in the flowing water.

When I was growing up, the common definition for antique was that something was over 20 years old.  Now that I have passed that mark by a good margin, I believe my definition of antique is changing.  I think of antique as something that was old when I was 20.  It seems to keep me from getting too old.  That lasts right until I speak with someone about an event or person that was significant in my youth and they have no clue as to whom I am talking about.  Hopefully, I have not made too many people feel too old today.

It’s almost that time again.  Time for fireworks and celebration.  Two summers ago, I photographed the Fireworks display on Lake Allatoona and then last year, I went to both Lake Arrowhead and Chattanooga.  This is another shot I took while at Pops on the River in Chattanooga.  I think this year may be a return to Pops because it was so much fun last year.

I happen to be one of those fortunate people that has been to both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.  I made that trip for the first time several years ago to the San Diego area of California.  I made it to La Jolla cove one afternoon and got a few shots of the water crashing on the rocks.

The grounds are so manicured at the Tellus Science Museum, that there are very few bad angles for photography.  I shot this one last spring on our first trip to the Tellus.  Since then, I have had the pleasure of visiting many times.  [...]]]>

In the 1960′s, McDonnell Douglas introduced the F-4 fighter jet.  Commonly referred to as The Phantom.  This jet fighter was at the cutting edge of technology for the time and was supposed to keep the pilots more safe and away from the action.  So far away from the action that the geniuses that designed it decided not to include guns of any type on the original configuration.  Despite this lack, it was a major part of US air power during the modern jet era.

It is rare that I go on photo trips with anyone else besides my wife and children.  So, I am taking photos of them more than myself.  When I go exploring on my own, I tend to find myself in places where I [...]]]>

It is rare that I go on photo trips with anyone else besides my wife and children.  So, I am taking photos of them more than myself.  When I go exploring on my own, I tend to find myself in places where I would like to have a photo of me.  With a good tripod and wireless remote, I am able to do it.  I got this shot in one of the buses near the back of Old Car City.

Before there were large billboards on narrow poles overlooking nearly every inch of interstate, there were building walls.  You can still find many walls being used for descriptive advertisements.  I am not for the item being advertised by any stretch of the imagination, but this one happened to be in the middle of downtown Blue Ridge.  I am not sure how much advertisement it is getting being in a small town like that.
