Each of these pages had over 300,000 fans, were the most active groups in Egypt, and were the only two outlets for Egyptian users to discuss issues of interest to them in a country with one of the worst human rights records.</p> <p>I demand Facebook administration bring back both pages and respect the wishes of myself and the over half a million of my fellow Egyptians, and bring back both pages immediately. It would be very difficult for me to accept such collaboration with the censorship policies with the Egyptian regime, and it will be very difficult for me to reward Facebook with continuing to use it. Ahmed Shaaban was beaten to death for refusing to be searched for no reason by the police. معظم الكلام كان خطاب البرادعي. مفيش جديد قوي. ناس كتير ضغطت على البرادعي عشان ينزل الشارع. هو اعلن إنه رايح اسكندرية يوم الجمعة وعايز يعزي أهل خالد سعيد. ولما الناس ضغطت عليه قال حيحاول ينزل وقفة أو The Israeli army is threatening to arrest the participants (including several members of parliament from Europe and the Arab world and prominent human rights advocates) and sieze the cargo (about 10,000 tons of donated aid). Definitely needs to be discussed. One thing I wanna say before temporarily dying. Our margin is much much larger than the number you see on <a href="http://shortyawards.com/category/politics">the #politics page</a>.<p /> Do you see <a href="http://shortyawards.com/category/sports" class="moz-txt-link-freetext">http://shortyawards.com/category/sports</a> ? Sao Paulo is 2nd with 400 more votes than Liverpool, the 1st! In our category, <a href="http://shortyawards.com/category/politics">#politics</a>, #10, Paulo Messina, has 3rd largest # of votes until now and he didn't even qualify for the final! Check <a href="http://shortyawards.com/PauloMessina">his votes</a>, they are all repetitions and RTs and they must be from relatively newer accounts too because that affects the value of count of the vote as well.<p /> Read the vote auditing section of the <a href="http://shortyawards.com/rules">Shorty Awards rules</a>. Number of votes is one thing and ranking is another:</p> <blockquote> <ul> <li>Votes without unique reasons (including votes ending in 'because...', RTs, and repeated identical votes) still appear but count for much less in determining the rankings. In the qualifiying, we were ranked #1 long before our votes were actually more than our competetor. I think we were like 150 and our competitor over 200.</p> <p>In other words, if we had done nothing for a couple of days, we would still have won. Check <a href="http://shortyawards.com/JIDF">his votes</a> and <a href="http://shortyawards.com/avinunu">ours</a>. Like Sao Paulo, 99.9% his votes are RTs and/or repeated &amp; copied reasons. We would have been #1 even if we counted 500 votes and he had this 1000 am telling u. We have a vote for a vote, in the box, different and relevant and positive reason (except for some of course). And the counting committee counted that.</p> <p>This explans a lot to me since I could not understand how his random robotic votes continue to count and he keeps chasing us with this non-sense, but we agreed never to use the "Plz just RT this" strategy, and it did pay off. Besides, we need people to actually know about @avinunu and think and write their own reason for voting. The award is not the main thing we were working for; instead,&nbsp; it's education, getting to know one another and network, and the massive fun, of course.</p> <p>We did work much harder and it was reflected. Will ask them if this can be shown somehow. But even against a competetor with 55,000 folllowers who is asking people to "Plz just RT this" for days and days, we nevertheless won both, the (all and any) vote from any twitter account and the ranking.
