The End

In this assignment the class was told to create a collection that is inspired by a country. To start the collection I started thinking of places I still wanted to visit. After researching the different countries on my list I decided France would be perfect with all of it's alluring culture. The first impression I had of France was bright, romantic, and rich. But to get into depth I decided to express my impressions of France by merging my collection with themes from Alice in the Wonderland. Although Alice in the Wonderland is a British novel I thought it would be a interesting way to visual show France in the eyes of an explorer by following the character Alice through her ventures. The book starts with Alice following a white rabbit into a fairytale land which I mirrored with a tourist traveling in France for the first time. When first arriving to France I thought of a tourist walking all of the city of Paris chasing down popular citing seeing spots. Thus, I called this themed "Exploration of the Rabbit". This Exploration of the Rabbit I decided to create active wear for outdoor activities, in this theme there are breathable and mainly functional garments. My next theme is Floral Wonders, in the novel this is where Alice goes through the forest and is introduced to the characters from the Wonderland. For a tourist I thought of how a tourist, after reaching their iconic destination a tourist is introduced to french classical art and culture. This theme I based on a dreamlike state of awe with references from classical french art and french flowers that give off a carefree spirit. The garments in this theme are very feminine and light meant to be worn out doors in the sun. The last theme is a collaboration of the Mad Tea Party, La Rogue, and La Queen, which in the story is where Alice becomes much bolder and confident. For a tourist this is where night falls on Paris and all the colors of Paris becomes bold and alluring. Many of the references came from french can can girls and royalty. The two garments in this collection are bold and meant to glamour all in their way. This collection was designed to be fun, adventurous, and daring.

Inspirations from the Outdoors

Muse: Larry Burrows Photo Journalist	Inspiration the City

Workbook to develop collection

City structure vs War zone

Sketches

A few garment details

Sewn samples This collection started as I walked around the City and took pictures of the buildings around me. While taking pictures around the City I realized the perfect muse for this collection would be a photojournalist. As I research different photojournalist I came across Larry Burrows who captured war pictures in Vietnam which is one of his most famous collections, published first in LIFE Magazine 16APR1965, was titled "One Ride with Yankee Papa 13" . The image of Larry Burrows holding 6 to 7 camera's really caught my attention. I then started looking at his pictures and was most moved by his pictures of Vietnam victims. Thus starting a collection inspired by the clash between structured City life and a war zone country. I wanted to make a collection that would be both environmentally friendly in usage of fabric while still be functional. That is why most of the fabric being used are natural besides the functional fabrics that will be used to resist water, fire, or just act a functional trims such as camera strap loops or waterproof pockets.

In the Meantime

I've fallen in Love with San Francisco and made a couple of good friends.

Between the Lines

2011-10-06T23:16:00.000-07:00

In an older post I had put up (Time for Change) I was moving from Texas to California. These pictures describe the challenge I was going through during that period.

When in Texas I left like I needed a way to escape...

in Texas I felt so en-caged.

I knew I was missing..

a way to get to the next Level.

Then I found an opportunity

but this opportunity could stop a relationship

which made me in between the lines, on one side I had a structured and comfortable life with loving friends and a dear boyfriend while on the other I had the opportunity to challenge myself and explore a whole new realm.

It's always hard to pick a side
but I realized I had to keep on going hope or the best.

San Francisco did come as a surprise, not all of the City was glamorous yet even the poverty had it's own charm.

And Today I'm still moving forward studying hard while still hoping for the best.

Since I've been gone

2011-10-06T21:30:00.000-07:00

It's been a very long time since I've been on my blog but I'm back and this is what I've been up to.

Time for Change

2010-08-08T00:23:00.001-07:00

My family loves to travel and has had the oppurtunity to travel, the problem with that is that I have fallen in love with travelling. The downside to being in love with travelling is that if I stay at a place for too long I feel strained. Although leaving a place is always hard, especially when I'm leaving behind dear friends, I love the feeling of being unfimilar with a place just because then I know there's so much to explore. So with all that said Goodbye Texas and Hello California

What did I learn in class today?

2010-01-28T11:54:00.000-08:00

Today in class I discovered that Baylor University is the first school to have the new UJet MC2 Fabric printer in the States. The UJet MC2 is a Yuhan-Kimberly product that is able to print patterns onto any regular fabric with out having to use special hardbacked fabric.

-Oh so Baylor Proud-

(At times I feel my awareness of fashion is staggered and tedious in Baylor. Baylor for one is not well known for their fashion department; people who have heard of Baylor usually correlate the school with its Nursing school, Dental school, or even Business school. Also the environment is not exactly fashion trendy, but that's the beauty of Baylor. Although Baylor is located in a suburban area, it is able to continually provide its students with the latest technology. I feel like the enclosed area provides for more specific attention to their students education and they'll spend a lot of effort in keeping it that way.)

Korean Food

2010-01-15T09:09:00.001-08:00

Boong-uh Bbang (fish-shaped bread fill with sweet red bean paste)- my utmost favorite street stall

Hod deok- pancake with a sugar mix inside

Soda Vendor

Coffee Vendor

Rice crackers

Pork slice- usually wrapped and eaten with Kimchi

Japanese- Tako-yaki stand in Korea

Chestnuts- usually sold on street vendors
Riceball- tuna, spam, pork

Barbecue vent

One of the things I love about Korea is that no matter where you are in Seoul, every turn tempts you with gourmets that are waiting to be devoured.

Always a time for 'firsts'

2009-09-30T09:40:00.000-07:00

There's always a time for a first, whether it be your first kiss or your first blog. Today, I have made my 'first' blog and just like my first kiss I feel anxious, excited, and gitty inside. Relating my 'first' kiss to my 'first' blog is somewhat bizarre, however, there are so many promises that both are able to spark. I read an article the other day, "Fate of a couple is sealed with first kiss" by Lewis Smith, and was reminded of the different definitions I tagged onto my 'first' kisses. Just as Lewis Smith stated, a first kiss is not just a simple physical expression of attraction. The first kiss creates a symbolic reference for two unique people, a reference to their compatibility. Just to think simple touch of the lips can unravel a whole new realm of adventure, it's alluring in all its ways. It's like a promise that is yet to be said. Hopefully, my blog will be a way for me to express my attractions for life, unravel my daily adventures, and excite others of the postings to come.
Enjoy~
