Dogs must be on a lead around the farm but there are plenty of dog walking routes made for you to follow, however there are lots of places near that you can take them for a good run.

Everything had been thought of from a welcome pack of basics (including yummy lemon drizzle cake) to printed directions for you to take, with details of local shops, takeaways, vets etc.

Give Rural Roosts a go, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Introducing K9 Services Wales's new van!

Professionally converted by k9 cages to meet and exceed current legislation on transporting your pets.

The vans interior has been coated in a anti bacterial, washable, speed lining. The same as used in ambulances and police dog vehicles. This lining will help in the prevention of any cross contamination

between dogs and enable easy and thorough cleaning. Something that cannot be achieved with other vehicles.

There are now eight kennels of varying sizes to suit from the smallest of dogs to the giant breeds. Each dog is separated during journeys unless they are family dogs who would be ore comfortable together. Each kennel has a substantial external lock enabling the dogs to be securely and safely locked in with the doors open for ultimate air flow should this be necessary. The dogs are also in great comfort whilst the van is being driven to and from each dog walk or when using the pet taxi. This van has air conditioning, a very powerful two way switched fan for ventilation, lighting and of course windows both in the rear doors and to the front cab.

We carry water, dog first aid kit, leads (not all dog walkers use leads!) treats and poo bags (not all walkers use these either!)

Your Name. Don't put your dogs name, it is useful for a dog napper to know what your dog answers to.

Your Telephone Number. I always put both home and mobile numbers, if your dog goes missing on a walk you cant be at home to receive the call. If your dog escapes from the garden you can then take your mobile and go looking for them.

Your Address. Now if you have a little dog the tag may not be large enough for all this info, I would suggest the phone numbers are more important. Perhaps your post code?

I would also suggest you have on your tag that your dog is neutered. Thieves take dogs to breed them, a neutered dog is not necessarily worth taking.

A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS.........

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.

3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.

4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.

5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me..

6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.

7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.

9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.

10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.

~Take a moment today to thank God for your pets. Enjoy and take good care of them.

Life would be a much duller, les s joyful experience without God's critters.

~Now please pass this on to other pet owners. We do not have to wait for Heaven, to be surrounded by hope, love, and joyfulness. It is here on earth and has four legs!

It is recognised by symptoms such as the pet going stiff-legged after exercise, showing reluctance in going up or down the stairs or playing, and finding it uncomfortable to wake up in the morning. Before the problem gets out of hand and has a crippling effect on the life of the dog and that of the dog owner, it is important to take proper care of the dog and consult the vet for a thorough diagnosis, if required.

Let's begin by knowing what arthritis is. Arthritis is a condition involving the joints. There are two types of arthritis: Degenerative arthritis and inflammatory arthritis. In the former, the cartilage that protects the bones making the joint wither away due to various factors like overuse from strenuous activities, aging, accidents and other bodily deficiencies. This type of arthritis is also known as osteoarthritis.

Inflammatory arthritis involves inflammation of joints arising mostly from infections due to systemic deficiencies in the dog. Both the forms of arthritis in dogs are accompanied by pain and discomfort in moving the limbs.

There are two approaches to treating arthritis in dogs. However, before beginning

any treatment with medicines, it is essential to have a thorough diagnostic assessment done to find out the nature and extent of joint damage and cause of pain.

The first approach involves regulating the diet. If the dog is overweight, the extra weight may be putting more stress on the joints than it can handle. So, weight reduction is an important component of any treatment plan. The dog should be put on a balanced and nutritious diet rich in proteins, minerals and fiber. It should drink plenty of fluids to flush out toxins from the body. Try to avoid dry dog food which contains grains that perpetuates inflammation and may aggravate arthritis pain. Instead, the dog can be given homemade food containing celery, other fresh vegetables such as cucumber, carrot, lettuce and sometimes garlic which has anti-septic and anti-inflammatory properties.

The second approach involves giving the dog supplements that reduce arthritis swelling and pain, such as Glucosamine, dietary sulphur sources like Methylsulphonylmethane (MSM), and Omerga-3 fatty acids found abundantly in fish. Side by side, the dog should be given massage of the sore muscles and joints and kept off from damp environs.

If these natural therapies do not work, the dog may require an examination by the vet who can recommend pain killers and other therapeutic procedures to provide relief from arthritis pain and other symptoms.
