We did a redesign of Dr. Howard Zaiff’s podiatry website. The design is completely unique managed by a customized WordPress backend. The site features javascript animation, video / image gallery integration and dynamic forms.

Making your website work for you

Much of the success of your website depends on its usability. It is important to dive into the wants and needs of your target audience to determine how you can deliver your message in the simplest, most pleasant way possible. Ask yourself what you want your visitors to take from your site. If you know who you are talking to and what you want to say to them, it makes it much easier to develop a website that achieves this goal.

When embarking on the visual design of your website, start with simple blocked out wire frames that make it easy to move elements and describe their function. The deeper you can conceptualize the workflow of your visitors and make their experience pleasant, the better. Examine each element and ask yourself how it contributes to conveying your key message. Make the interface intuitive and ensure the majority of your audience will understand how to navigate your site seamlessly. Clarity is key.

Once you have a clear site architecture, you are then ready to jump into visualizing your design. Follow your branding guidelines or if you do no have a formal brand identity, create one. A successful company brands its message through all of their interactions with their audience, from the letterhead to the customer service. The better you know your own company, the easier it is to introduce yourself to your market.

Once your site is created, test its usability with your friends and colleagues. Hire usability testing specialists that identify areas to improve in your workflow and take the necessary steps to improve the site. It may delay the launch date, but the end product is more effective.

Knowing who you are, who your audience is and what you want to say to them will greatly assist you in making your website work for you.

Da Vinci study – St. Jerome in the wilderness

In Da Vinci’s notebook he describes how to draw different states of emotion and age. Each gesture, facial expression, clothing position is carefully planned to tell the story.
