PHOTOGRAPHER KEVIN KUNSTADT EXHIBITS ‘DOLOMITES’ AT SMITH COLLEGE

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.—In his first solo exhibition, photographer Kevin Kunstadt offers a series of images depicting the grandeur of the Dolomites, a section of the Alps located in northeastern Italy, and the myriad ways in which people interact with and experience the majestic peaks.

The exhibit will be on view Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., October 4 to November 1, in the Oresman Gallery, Hillyer, Brown Fine Arts Center. A reception for the artist will take place in the gallery Thursday, Oct. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. Both the exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public and wheelchair accessible.

In Kunstadt’s images, humans perform a range of playful, extreme, reverential and even absurd activities against the awe-inspiring natural backdrop of the mountains. The ways in which people traverse, map, maintain and enjoy land are evident throughout—even if they are absent from the shots. The topography is marked by excavated tunnels, mowed lawns, grazing cattle, chairlifts, signage and a crucifix.

Born in New York City in 1982, Kunstadt lives and works in Brooklyn, N.Y. His work has been published in National Geographic and countless online publications, and his commercial clients include galleries, artists and architecture and design firms throughout New York City. He has also served as co-founder and co-director of K&K Gallery in Brooklyn, where for the past three years he helped to curate and produce exhibitions for young and emerging photographers.

The Vuu Collective, an online platform for emerging artists, is proud to present VUU II—a showcase of visual works from the Summer/Fall 2011 collection. Highlighting fine art and photography from up-and-coming international talent, VUU II will be featured at K&K Gallery in Brooklyn from December 10 through December 18. Vuu invites you to join the celebration at an opening reception on Saturday, December 10 at 7pm.

The Vuu Collective—the online platform for up-and-coming artists that brought their Winter/Spring 2011 collection to K&K Gallery last February—is proud to announce the release of VOLUME no.1. Featuring the works of emerging artists from across the globe, VOLUME, a print publication, will showcase fine art and photography from 26 artists in 10 countries. Vuu invites you to celebrate the launch at a one-night only event on October 15, 2011 at 7pm at K&K Gallery in Brooklyn.
