I’ve known that I’m an introvert for a very long time, but it’s been only about a couple of years since I found out there was actually a word for it, and that it’s actually a very common personality type. Charlie’s latest video inspired me to talk more about it, because there are just way too many misconceptions about introverts.

First of all, no one is 100% introverted or 100% extroverted, although in most cases a person tends to lean to one side more than the other. Secondly, being introverted doesn’t necessarily mean you’re shy, in a lot of cases that’s true, and it’s one of the more prevalent misconceptions, but that’s the case simply because the shier introverts are easier too spot than the outgoing ones. I probably lean more towards the shier introvert side, though I’m trying to step away from that. You can stop being shy, but you can’t stop being introverted, just like you can stop being social but you can’t stop being extroverted.

So with this in mind, what does being introverted/extroverted actually mean? One simple thing. It is your personality type, a tag placed on people to describe how they energize themselves. Introverts are energized by being alone in the sea of their own thoughts and personal private work. This doesn’t mean that they are anti-social or depressed, which is common for people to assume. That’s just how we feel in our element. Being with other people may be just as fun as it is for an extrovert, but it drains our energy. We think before we talk, we try not to speak unless there’s a need to and we can actually provide useful input, not just to fill the silence. For that reason a lot of introverts do completely suck at starting conversations, but start one that interests them and good luck trying to get them to shut up.

The opposite can be said for extroverts; they gain their energy from being around others, and drain it when they’re by themselves. But I want to focus on introverts because I find it sad how a big chunck of the world still see us as inferior, and often favor the more extroverted people. In my opinion, one is not better than the other, they simply have different things to offer the world. Take for instance that the best and happiest couples you see are usually a mix of an introvert with an extrovert. Yet when they’re the same personality type, they tend to clash on a a lot of things.

If you get anything out of this, just understand that introverts make around a third or even close to a half of the population. We don’t want to be excluded, we just sometimes want to be secluded for a little while so that when we do join you, we have all the energy to put into good use. And this is just a snippet of how we are, there’s still so much more to us, and we want you to be interested. Come find out.

If you think you’re an extrovert, but have a lot in common with introverts, you may be quite right. Remember that no one is 100% one thing.

When someone tells you something personal or intimate, it’s not really about the knowledge, it’s not about ‘getting the dirt’. It’s about knowing that your friend truly trusts you to hold that important information. The feeling of knowing that someone truly trust you with their most well kept secrets is one of the best feelings ever.

Today I realized I don’t have anyone in my life who gives me that feeling. I used to. I don’t write this to make you pity me. I write it because it’s the reality of my situation, and this is the only way I can let it out. In order to deny this situation control of my feelings, there’s just a handful of things I can do. But it’s all reduced to tumblr because all the other networking sites are compromised. Easily accessible to people who repeatedly insist that they do trust me. But trust is not something you can fake.

I already feel much better. Funniest thing is, I’m actually pretty super happy these days. This was just a pebble on my way, which I wanted to kick away before it grew into a boulder. Mission accomplished.

I rarely do, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with drinking it as long as you can control yourself, and not get drunk. I actually really like rum :^P My man card will probably be taken away from me because I will admit some things:

I hate the taste of beer
I’ve been to parties where everyone’s drinking and I’m the only sober one.
I can’t remember the last time I actually had a drink of alcohol (other than just a sip to taste)
I like girly alcohol drinks, and I prefer them to be virgin. The drinks do taste good with alcohol, but they taste even better without it.

And now you know. I bet you’ll be inviting me to all them crazy parties now.

We are from Valle Del Cauca, from which the capital is Cali, from which people say is the salsa (dance, not the food) capital of the world. Which sucks for me, ‘cause I can’t dance…especially not salsa. That’s probably why they kicked me out.

I’m guessing this question stems from me saying that I’m a Christian but not Catholic. A lot of people think that it’s the same thing, but I’m a Protestant-Christian. There’s a lot of huge differences, such as our beliefs on how we receive salvation, who the head of the church is, the way we pray, who we pray to, how our sins are forgiven. There’s just way to many differences that could make a huge blog on its own. If you have some time and you truly wanna know about some of those big differences, I’ll give you a couple of links. If you have any more questions after that, I’ll be happy to answer.

I just wanted to say hi back! Unfortunately, I am like Samson, except that instead of flowing strength from my hair, I exuberate pure cuteness from it…and I recently cut my hair. Most certainly! Actually, I think most of my ‘crushes’ have been non-Hispanics…but also I’ve never had a girlfriend who isn’t Hispanic. It would be a plus if she knew Spanish, or would be willing to learn it though, ‘cause I wouldn’t want her to feel left out of a big part of my world which is in Spanish. But definitely not a requirement :^)

I bet you know Justin Bieber’s philosophy, and I agree, never say never. BUT I would most likely NOT marry a Catholic, or anyone with a different belief than mine. It sounds harsh, but one of the things I find most attractive in a girl is seeing her love for God, and HOW she devotes herself to Him. I have no problems being friends with anyone of any belief; of my two closest friends one is catholic, and the other one simply believes ‘there is a God’. But when two are married, they become one, and when the beliefs aren’t mirrored, that’s like having multiple personalities which leads to lots of conflicts. One of those bigger conflicts would be deciding on how to raise the children.

In summary, God is number one in my life, and I need a wife that supports that and agrees with that, not one that makes me doubt or stumble.

Are you Catholic? Just wondering :)
