Hybrid cars have been getting a lot of buzz the last three or four years, and now with the soaring cost of oil and gasoline, hybrids are expected to get hotter than ever. Here are some Questions and Answers about hybrids.&lt;br /&gt;
1. What is a hybrid car?&lt;br /&gt;
A vehicle is a hybrid when it combines two or more sources of power. Hybrid cars almost always have a gasoline engine and an auxiliary electric motor system that runs off rechargeable batteries.&lt;br /&gt;
We normally assume that the point of hybridization is to save fuel, and that is definitely the case with most of the smaller compacts and sedans. But in fact some of the more upscale hybrid models are more concerned with boosting power and "performance" without the usual loss in fuel efficiency.&lt;br /&gt;
2. Do you have to plug your hybrid in at night?&lt;br /&gt;
You may assume because a hybrid car runs part of the time off its battery pack, that it is necessary to plug it in at night and recharge the batteries (like a golf cart!). But this is almost never the case. Hybrid cars recharge their batteries "on the fly" by making use of unused energy which is normally wasted during normal driving.&lt;br /&gt;
For instance, most have a system that captures some of the energy used while applying the brakes, and converts it to electrical energy to charge the battery. This is called "regenerative braking".&lt;br /&gt;
If hybrids had larger battery packs that you could plug into the electricity grid, they would be able to transfer more of the vehicle's power requirements over to the electric motor(s), and use even less gasoline. But most auto makers have been unwilling to go this route, arguing that today's batteries could not take the extra load and more extensive usage.&lt;br /&gt;
3. Do you have to replace the batteries?&lt;br /&gt;
The short answer is No. Hybrid batteries typically have an 80,000 - 100,000 mile warranty. The U.S. Department of Energy tested them to 160,000 miles and stopped testing because they still performed almost like they were brand new. Some taxi drivers have gone more than 200,000 miles in a Toyota Prius without battery problems.&lt;br /&gt;
In any event, since hybrid battery packs have hundreds of cells, individual cells or modules could be replaced if there was a problem.&lt;br /&gt;
The best way to keep nickel metal hydride batteries performing at their peak is to keep their charge between 40% and 60% -- never fully charged and never fully drained to zero power.&lt;br /&gt;
4. How long have hybrids been around?&lt;br /&gt;
Alternatives to the ICE (internal combustion engine) in automobiles have been around since at least 1900. The first patent for a gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle was filed in 1905. Alternative fuel sources were wiped out as a result of two things. First was the development of the electric self-starter (in 1913) that made gasoline driven cars much easier to start.&lt;br /&gt;
The second development was the advent of the age of cheap oil that started around the time of the first World War. This completely removed the economic incentive to look for alternative fuel sources. This is only starting to change now, 80 years later.&lt;br /&gt;
5. Are hybrids expensive to purchase?&lt;br /&gt;
In January, 2006, there were 10 different hybrid models available from $19,000 to $53,000. The most popular models -- the Insight, Civic, and Prius -- are less than $30,000. According to auto maker announcements there should be more than 50 models available by 2010. As sales and production increase the prices should not be significantly more than for standard ICE models.&lt;br /&gt;
Even with the slightly higher average cost for a hybrid -- usually around $3,000 -- these additional initial costs can be offset by federal and state tax incentives, lower maintenance costs, and exceptionally strong resale values.&lt;br /&gt;
6. Are hybrids small and underpowered?&lt;br /&gt;
Initial hybrid models emphasized fuel economy, so were much lighter vehicles, and had smaller engines. The objective was to offset the loss of power in the ICE with additional power from the electric motor. This would result in essentially the same level of power while burning less fuel.&lt;br /&gt;
But this principle does not have to result in underpowered vehicles. In fact the Lexus Rx400h and Toyota Highlander Hybrid both have a 270 horsepower power system. And the Lexus GS 450h hybrid sedan is expected to have more than 300 horsepower and go 0-to-60 in less than six seconds. Taking the quest for hybrid power even further, the Toyota Volta concept venicle has a 408 hp power plant.&lt;br /&gt;
7. What is the main reason people buy hybrid vehicles?&lt;br /&gt;
Saving money on fuel is the first thing most buyers think of. But, in fact, the amount saved on fuel over the life of the vehicle may not equal the extra purchase cost of the hybrid.&lt;br /&gt;
There are obviously other factors at play in the gradually building popularity of hybrids. Some people want to make a "green" statement, others simply want to be the first on the block with a new and promising technology.&lt;br /&gt;
8. Will hybrid technology save the environment?&lt;br /&gt;
There's no doubt about it. Hybrids are becoming more popular. In the past five years hybrid sales in the U.S. have grown 2000 percent. Sales in 2000 were 9,500, and by the end of 2005 had grown to over 200,000.&lt;br /&gt;
But even this larger number is just 1.2% of the 17 million new cars sold last year. If every hybrid gave double the current fuel economy, from an average of 20 mpg to, say, 40 mpg, that would save roughly 100,000 gallons of gasoline a day. But that amount pales in comparison to the total daily gasoline consumption in the U.S. -- 400 million gallons! The savings of 100,000 gallons would bring that number all the way down to ... 399,900,000 gallons.&lt;br /&gt;
Not very significant. Obviously governments and auto makers will have to start getting very serious about hybrid technology before it will make a significant difference.&lt;br /&gt;
9. Does that mean hybrid technology is only a fad?&lt;br /&gt;
No it does not. Because the only way towards a sustainable future is to find a combination of fuels that will reduce our almost total dependence on oil. Hydrogen fueled vehicles will be part of that future, as will fuel cells, deisel, and alternative fuels such as ethanol.&lt;br /&gt;
But what is almost certain is that every promising solution will involve some kind of hybrid combination of technologies. So today's hybrid vehicles are an important and necessary step towards a much more promising and sustainable future.&lt;br /&gt;

Since  I work as a marketing consultant, I'm often teaching people and  companies how to make money using the Internet. In the last few months, a  few programs have come out that are supposed to teach people how to  make money by posting links so I thought I would offer an explanation  about what they're teaching.&lt;br /&gt;
There are two basic groups that are using this wording to get people to buy their products.&lt;br /&gt;
The  first group is pitching an educational product that teaches people how  to make money by publishing Google-sponsored links. These links are  called AdSense and can be placed on any web page that you have ownership  of.&lt;br /&gt;
The second group is trying to sell a product that simply teaches people how to get their sites listed in Google.&lt;br /&gt;
In  all reality you actually need to learn both methods to be able to make  money by posting links. The reason for this is pretty obvious if you  think about it. You need traffic to click on your sponsored links.&lt;br /&gt;
What  people are doing is creating websites that are designed specifically to  provide solid information and because of that, they rank well in Google  and get traffic. They then provide Google's sponsored links and get  paid for the clicks that their sites generate. This is the real way you  can make money by &lt;a href="http://thekeywordacademy.com/how-to-make-money-posting-links-on-google/" rel="nofollow" target="_new"&gt;posting links on Google&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;
There are people that makes thousands and even tens of thousands of dollars per month using this method.&lt;br /&gt;

With  mortgage rates on a steady fall, homeowners are increasingly  refinancing current mortgages. The reason behind the declining mortgage  rates is said to be the belief that the Federal Reserve is resisting to  hike short-term interest rates this year. The endless flow of refinance  applications has completely overwhelmed loan officers and brokers.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Low Rates Boost Refinancing &lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
With  refinancing such a rage, it makes you wonder the kind of savings  homeowners are managing and the appeal of refinancing in the current  situation. Most homeowners seizing the opportunity are switching from  thirty-year mortgage to fifteen year mortgage and saving tens of  thousands of dollars over the loan duration. Many applicants are  surprised to learn that there is no drastic increase in payment, yet the  payoff is cut to half while saving thousands of dollars. Those not  qualifying for fifteen year mortgages are still refinancing at lower  interest rates, choosing to use the bi-weekly payment facility to pay  off loans early but still save thousands in interest.&lt;br /&gt;
The mortgage  amount and the rates of interest determine the extent of savings by  homeowners refinancing at lower rates and changing to 15-year plan. A  30-year mortgage for $150,000 with 8 percent interest rate will work out  to monthly payments of around $1100 per month and in the course of the  loan period the payments add up to almost $250,000 in interest. The same  homeowner can take the same mortgage amount over a 15 year mortgage  period, refinancing it at 5.5 percent interest rate, with monthly  payment of about $1225, just $125 more per month over the thirty year  mortgage and complete payment of mortgage in half the time with $175,000  saved in interests. This explains the reason for the increasing number  of people approaching lenders for &lt;a href="http://www.speedybadcreditloans.com/home-loan-mortgage-refinance.html" rel="nofollow" target="_new"&gt;refinancing homes&lt;/a&gt;. The larger the mortgage amount and higher the original interest rate, the higher the amount that is saved.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;No Cost Has Costs &lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Taking  the big picture into consideration, some no cost refinancing can  actually cost quite a lot but the costs are not easily visible. No cost  financing mostly requires you to pay up to 5/8 a point more in interest  than with a full cost loan. There's no reason for you to apply for these  no-cost refinancing advantages if your current interest rate is far  lower than the current no cost refinancing rates. This financing option  is worth considering in case you plan to be at home only for a period of  one to three years.&lt;br /&gt;
But if unsure about how long you are going to  be home, it still makes sense to go for a no cost loan. If you end up  staying home for a long period, you can refinance at a later date.  Borrowers contemplating no cost refinancing due to inability to afford  refinancing costs, need to try harder. Often refinancing enables rolling  costs of refinancing into the loan, making it possible for you to  refinance without requiring a large sum of money up front.&lt;br /&gt;
But if  you decide on no cost refinancing, ensure there are no hidden costs in  it. A no cost loan does not require lender fees or settlements, which  the lender pays for without affecting the cost of your loan.  Nevertheless, there are some lenders that transfer the costs to the  borrower by charging higher interest rates. So, make sure to compare  different offers before closing any deal.&lt;br /&gt;

Be sure to pay close attention to the number of pins. On some computers we've found that this connector contains 24 pins instead of 20.&lt;br /&gt;
24 pin ATX Connector - Some computer motherboards require a 24 pin ATX Connector. Given our past experience we advise purchasing a power supply with a 24 pin connector built in rather than a converter that converts the 20 pin to a 24 pin. The converters tend to have poor power distribution while a power supply with the 24 pin connector built in will be powered directly from the power supplies.&lt;br /&gt;
P4 Connector - Most motherboards that have Intel Pentium 4 processors will have a slot on the board for this P4 connector. If your motherboard has this slot then make sure you get a power supply with a P4 connector on it. If your motherboard doesn't have a slot for this connector it is still okay to purchase a power supply with this connector, and leave the P4 connector unconnected.&lt;br /&gt;
4 pin IDE Connector - This is the IDE connector that supplies power to your hard drives and cdroms. Most atx power supplies have 4 connectors of this type included. If you need more than 4 connectors it's best to purchase y-splitters to increase the number of connectors. Purchasing power supplies with more than 4 connectors can often be much more costly than purchasing a y-splitter.&lt;br /&gt;
4 pin floppy connector  Floppy Connector - The 4 pin floppy connector supplies power to any floppy drives that may be on your computer. Some of the card reader drives use this connection also. Most atx power supplies have two of these connectors included.&lt;br /&gt;
6 AUX connector - Look on your motherboard and see if there is a slot that accepts the 6 pin AUX connector. If there is a slot for it then chances are you're going to need it.&lt;br /&gt;
Sata connector - Hard drives and other devices with sata connectors as shown here are becoming more and more popular. We aren't sure exactly what the advantages are to this technology, but if you have any devices in your computer that use the sata connector you're going to need a power supply with sata connectors.&lt;br /&gt;
You need to know how much power you're going to need. It's okay to buy a power supply that is larger than necessary because the power supply will step down to your power requirements. On the other hand, buying a power supply that is too small for your requirements will be annoying. Many times people will complain of their computer rebooting for no reason at all. Nine times out of ten the reason for this is an undersized power supply. Many companies that sell computers will install an undersized power supply to save money and increase profit margins.
