Wedding Talk Wednesday: Engagement Session/ Venue Selection

noreply@blogger.com (Dreek♥) — Wed, 25 Jan 2012 13:00:00 +0000

Took us only forever to get it together, but we finally took some pictures that i've personally deemed good enough to call engagements pics..lol..seriously I just haven't been in picture taking mood. I got my hair flat ironed which motivated me to just get it over with. My Charming is always fun when it's time to take pictures, you just have to catch him on a good day. Most of the pics were edited to be black and white because I hated my makeup!!

Also, we'ver finally picked our venue for the ceremony and reception, which I love so so so much. We're changing our date to October because of a lot of different reasons that I don't care to list. It's nothing bad, sometimes you have to just factor in EVERYTHING that will matter before and after you get married. Besides, we're getting married outside and I think the weather will be much more forgiving.

This is the gazebo on the lake where our vows will take place.

This is the reception site that will also serve as a backup for bad weather.

Say hello to our lovely wedding planner/coordinator LaToya. She is the bomb.com and we both love her to pieces. (But of course I love who listens to me and gives me honesty about how outlandish some of my ideas are..LOL)

Thanks for stopping by,

Dreek♥

Happy New Years Everyone! May you all be successful at all the ~~lies~~ changes you have promised yourself this year!!LOL

Anyways, I'm getting a blog makeover soon and i'm excited about that, but in the mean time in between time, something that I wanted to do was start sharing my makeup routine. One of my ~~lies~~ changes that I wanted to make this year was to utilize my huge collection of cosmetics, AND to stop buying so much!!

On to the Face:

This is my freshly washed and lotioned face, i've done nothing so far (scary looking huh..LOL) but shade and shape my brows, and conceal them both for a cleaner look. You can probably see the concealer around my eyebrows. (Tutorial on how I do those?)

I start at my lash line and pack on the purple, I did a purple smokey eye which has to be explained in depth, which I can do..buttttt it's a million youtube videos that show you how.

This is before i've powdered...

This is after i've powdered...

Then add foundation, blush, and lip glass...

Products I used:

Eyes:
Urban decay primer potion
Jordana - Your Majesty
15 color concealer palette
L.A. Colors -Lollipop palette

L.A. Colors - Ammunition palette

Maybelline Falsies

Oprah Voice You get a 2x!!! You get a 2x!! My Bridesmaids Dresses..Oh the HEADACHE!

noreply@blogger.com (Dreek♥) — Tue, 13 Dec 2011 04:57:00 +0000

Somebody come and rescue me!!! LOL..I'm just being a little dramatic, but I really need to say a few things to get them off my chest. *massaging temples* woo-sah* Excuse me for a moment as I rant...just a little...

1.) So, I've figured out why future brides are called "bridezillas" (and no i'm not one) it's OTHER PEOPLE that drive them crazy and makes them do really mean and crazy things, and say stuff with no regards to other people's feeling *sighs* Not that I will ever do that!!

2.) I hate when people ask me certain questions (ie. Where are you getting married? or What are your colors?) then they give me the "boo boo face" look like they can't believe it. Please get a grip people, IT'S MY WEDDING! and your opinions and stank face looks are NOT WELCOME!

3.) My Future Mother-In-Law has decided that she will not be attending her sons' wedding because he doesn't call her enough and he didn't call her on Thanksgiving?!! In the sarcastic words of my blogger boo Jeema "That's not petty at all!" *sucks teeth and rolls neck* All I have to say about that is THEY (as in him and her) got 6 months to get their act together *two snaps* She only has one son and she'll regret it later if she misses out!

Now to the title of this post!!Did you like my Oprah voice?!?! LOL..I've been looking for a bridemaids(BMs) dress to suit the needs of all my B

It was truly hard looking for a nice dress to meet all of those needs while still keeping in classy and not very expensive. I originally asked all of BMs to save between $80-$110, which I don't think is very expensive at all. I also asked them to have it saevd by the end of February which is like 2 months away.

Well things changed, I found the dress (yayyyyyy!!) But it was selling so fast I needed them to purchase it like NOW and not in February. This is where the title for my post came from, in the store they only had 2x's left..so I bought them all. Now this may seem a little "unethical" to some but let me explain myself.

The original dress was $60 and on sale, I had a coupon for 30% off which brought the total price to $41.30. This is wayyyyyy below the initial amount I was going to have them to spend so I don't see what the problem was or STILL IS. One of my BMs did remind me that it was the Holiday season and that people were preparing for that...........*silence*............mmkay...*Kanye Shrug*

Now to the Dress!! I got it from Ashely Stewart...yes...I'll say it again...I got it from Ashley Stewart. There are a lot of non-traditional things that I will be doing for my wedding and so happy this dress fits right in.

It's the Ashley Stewart 10-Way Dress that can be worn 10 different ways. Before I made the decision I went to the store and tried it on myself and absolutely fell in love. It is so soft and elegant and the red color is divine! Now on to the dress!!

Below: One of my BMs, Tiana, came over to model this dress for the first time, she absolutely loves it, and that made me feel great!!

And yes, my camera is crappy well it was actually dirty. It sleeps in the bottom of my purse.

Above: This is the arm-friendly way and I absolutely love it, I don't think it looks tacky or anything.

We had so much fun remaking this dress over and over again! This was her favorite of them all, and mine too!

So i'm not sure on the accessories yet and I can't quite decide on bouquets or rose clutches..*Kanye Shrug Again* that bridge will be crossed when I get to it!

SO WHAT DO YOU THINK?!?!?

Dreek ♥

Can you pick which Wedding Dress belongs to me?!?!

noreply@blogger.com (Dreek♥) — Tue, 22 Nov 2011 04:00:00 +0000

As most should know i'm getting married!! We've finally set a date and I couldn't be happier. I really wish I could blog more, but school and work are both having a good time with my L I F E!!

BUT!!!! I did happen to FIND MY DRESS!!

It's the most exciting thing in the world trying on dresses and deciding which one you will walk down the isle in!! I don't want to give it away just yet, I want to know what you guys think about my top 5 that I was trying on and choosing from.

Kellan J and Mori Lee have a wonderful collection of plus size dresses. Since our wedding will be in the summer, I wanted something very simple, elegant, and just pretty!! Take a peek!!

Kellan J 3108 (#1)

Kellan J 3011 (#2)

Mori Lee 3104 (#3)

Kellan J 3005 (#4)

Kellan J 3105 (#5)

WHICH ONE DO YOU LIKE BEST?!?

WHICH ONE DO YOU THINK I'M GONNA BECOME A BRIDE IN?!?!

My Weird Wedding Colors?!?!

noreply@blogger.com (Dreek♥) — Mon, 31 Oct 2011 07:17:00 +0000

BUT I LIKE THEM!!! It took some of my wonderful selling techniques to get my aunts (they play a huge part in my wedding) on board with these colors, but now they like them!! So tell me what you think?!?!

DEEP RED & ROYAL PURPLE

These would be the gifts to my Bridesmaids...All 9 of them..SMH!!

I'm pretty much very into liking these colors (does that make sense?!?!). My fiance is really iffy, but if not these colors then i'm gonna go with the basic "vintage glam". IE. black w/ red accents...

IDK!! TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!! I'M OPEN TO ALL SUGGESTIONS!!

By the way, meet ROCSI ♥...she's the best!

P.S. I STOLE ALL OF THESE PICTURES ALL OVER THE WEB #THATISALL

Torrid & Payless..Match Made in Heaven..well for me anyways

noreply@blogger.com (Dreek♥) — Wed, 12 Oct 2011 12:47:00 +0000

Hello Doves!! I wanted to share what I wore to church on Sunday and finally got around to it. Work and school are both kickin my behind. I'm actually slowly falling behind in my classes and need to pull a major comeback. Also, i'm in the process of "planning a wedding" at least my mom thinks so..SMH..I just don't have the time!! I can't even decide on colors..ANYWAYS...to the clothes...

I'm really diggin the Payless 'Brash' collection lately, they are really coming up!! I walked in to get some black flats for work and walked out with 4 pair of shoes *hangs head in shame*..hell, the BOGO got me!! My very frustrated fiance' didn't even say anything to me, it was a quiet ride home..bahahahaha!! So dig these...

Women's Komet Platform Pump $34.99

Women's Katy Bow Wedge $24.99

Girls' Brandy Bow Flat $24.99

Aren't they the cutest little kids?!?!? LOL..I bought the babies (flats), I was in a hurry it was like grab and GO!

I browsed around Torrid for a little while and found this dress, it's really comfortable, and a size 2. It's sleeveless but has crochet wings that cover my arms. It was perfect :D

Tan Crochet Sleeve Dress $58.50

Now to Me.....

A special thanks to everyone who left me encouraging words about my little "church situation". It was really needed and I'm grateful that you took the time out to give your virtual hugs!! I love you guys! The situation is now under control..lol..Thanks for looking!!

Hairy Business

noreply@blogger.com (Dreek♥) — Mon, 26 Sep 2011 13:00:00 +0000

Have you ever scratched your scalp so much until it started to bleed?......me neither. Anyways, my head has been itching me soooooooooo bad lately!! so that basically told me two things. 1st of all my hair was dirty as hell and 2nd my scalp was super dry. I'm talking flake mountain!! LOL

I hate hate hate hate hate washing my hair, well atleast until now. I never quite found the right product that gave me that extra clean feeling. I recently purchased the Pantene pro-v collection (yea I went all out) FOR WOMEN OF COLOR, that's what it says on the bottle..i'm not lying! But what really pulled me in was the "Relaxed or Natural" so my natural curls fit right in!

Anyways washed my dirty hair twice, did some deep conditioning (in other words left the conditioner in for about 30 mins with a shower cap on) then rinsed and OH ME, OH MY!! My hair felt so good, I give these products 5 stars.

I got my hair done shorty after i'll be showing that in the post!! SMOOCHES!!

Fuschia && Black:Birthday Night (Kinda Pic Heavy..kinda!)

noreply@blogger.com (Dreek♥) — Wed, 07 Sep 2011 17:41:00 +0000

So my Birthday came and went, and to be honest I didn't expect it to be as good as it was but honeyyyyy lemme tell yah!! LOL I haven't had such a wonderful time like that in a loooooong time. I got lots of gifts, was able to spend time with my family, some shop-til-you-drop quality time from my Honey and sooooo much more. I am truly blessed!!

Sorry in advance for the quality of some of the pics, I think the cameraman was a little tipsy and didn't realize how bad of a job he was doing..LOL

Anyways, My bestfriend Joy and her boyfriend Josh came and stayed the weekend with me and my fiance' (I feel so weird saying that!!). I had never met hers and she had never met mine, it's not that we haven't been friends forever it's just that before me and my fiance' lived together he lived in Miami which is a little over 3 hours, so I never seen them at the same time, and they never met!

I have more pictures to post later from my birthday cookout at my brother's house but that will be in the next post. Thank you all for the birthday love!

Shirt: My friend Lindsay/Shoes,earrings,bracelets: Rainbow/Tights: Avenue/Bang &Pony: via Ebay
(I actually ordered this bang off of Ebay after I seen Kiah's (From the "Rez" to the "City"). I absolutely love love love it!! you just clip in on and GO! LOL, Thanks Kiah!)

Me and the bestie stepped out and had a great time, I was so happy to be spending time with her. I hadn't seen her since November of last year..SMH, I almost cried when she left..but dont tell her that.. :o) Enjoy and God Bless!

Dreek ♥

P.S. I only wore one eyelash the entire night, Don't ask and I won't tell!! LOL

It's my Birthday!!!

noreply@blogger.com (Dreek♥) — Mon, 05 Sep 2011 00:44:00 +0000

Well actually it was yesterday and I have soooooo much to share with everyone but for right now I have to get ready to go out!! I wanted to share what my 2-tier birthday cake looked like and i'll post and share more later!!

Birthday Wishlist ♥

noreply@blogger.com (Dreek♥) — Sat, 20 Aug 2011 12:00:00 +0000

These are just some of the things that I can think of that I actually want for my birthday. I keep getting asked what I want, and now I can refer them to this blog post *texting daddy as I type*. Every year since I turned 19, I've A L W A Y S had a big birthday get together with a theme and all the works. So my friends were pretty shocked that they hadn't received invite & an itinerary by now. :D

I'm not really picky, it's the simple things that make me happy!! Soooooo....

These are from the Madden Girl (Steve Madden) line, and they are called "Setra". Any Madden Girl heel would make me happy, they are made especially for comfort and style, I love them!! Now retailing for about $40 at DSW *cough* size 10 *cough*...

All these Guess purses rub me the right way. The bottom two are all made out of the socra croc skin and it feels soooooo lovely. These are online, but also at Dillard's & Macy's and retail for about $118. Any Guess Satchel will do!! bahaha

These camera are really neat and have a huge 5" display screen in the back. I'm not really tech savvy but I want this camera, black or silver...DON'T MATTA!!

I have 4 bags of makeup, but surprisingly, I don't have a lot of eye shadow. I just want 3 of them, a small, medium and large one. Or, just a large one..LOL

Little Known Fact: I collect Cards!! Whether it be my birthday, graduation, or Holiday, I love cards. I think its kinda weird. I have 2 boxes and a bag full of cards, my Honey calls it my junk, but whateva!! I can't help it.

Of course C A S H, if you're shopping efforts fail..Don't Carry Cash?? Don't Worry!!!

All are also accepted :D

In all honesty, I just wanna spend time with some of my family and just enjoy the day. I'm blessed to be alive, and I don't take it for granted, and on that specific day i'll celebrate it just a tab bit more. God is Good All the TIME!!

God Bless You ALL,

Dreek ♥

Dining Room Preview :D

noreply@blogger.com (Dreek♥) — Fri, 19 Aug 2011 12:00:00 +0000

So everybody knows that i've been on this DIY high for about 2 weeks now, and instead of buyin a really nice, FINISHED, dining room table set I opted to just buy a cheap one and fix it up how I wanted!! This project has really been prolonged because:

1. We can never buy enough paint, without buying too much

2. The weather has been terrible here in Florida and it's been raining entirely too much!

Anyways, I bought a dining room set off of Craigslist for $60 and trust me it was not the business. I didn't show it to my Honey before I paid for it because I know he would've given me the "What the hell are you going through" face.

I've also made a few things to put on the walls, and i'm really falling head over heels for this DIY stuff..SMH. I'll share those later!

So take a peek at the chairs so far,

aren't these just the cutest??..lol.NOT!! I took the seats off, sanded off the finish, then applied a glossy black primer & spray paint in 1...bought some fabric and...

VOILA!!

Now how much better is that?!?! We should be finished with the table soon, and i'll show you the entire process with more pics later, this is just a preview!! Thanks for reading!!

Balloon Wedding Dress; IRKED!

noreply@blogger.com (Dreek♥) — Mon, 08 Aug 2011 23:28:00 +0000

Being a future bride myself (insert cheesy smile here) I can't even find the time to explain and show to you half of the crazy things I find while web-surfing, but this is just too much..

I know that most brides try to be "DIFFERENT" but there is a FINE line between different and just crazy as hell!!

Then you have the extremely open-minded people who would just call this Creative...(-_-)... oh...ok..*sighs*

I saw this article on Yahoo when I opened my homepage, It's been bothering me ever since..LOL..check out some of the Creativeness...also known as BALLON WEDDING DRESSES!!

Source

You're suppose to put those up for the decor, not wear them!!

I didn't even know these were made!!

I think people should throw pins at the bride when she walks down the isle..*insert evil laugh*..LOL..Jk..Personally, I don't wanna see any balloons at all on my wedding day!

WHAT'S THE WEIRDEST THING YOU'VE EVER SEEN A BRIDE WEAR?!?!

TO EACH HIS/HER OWN!!

LOVE YOU GUYS,

Something Different: DIY Kitchen Wallpaper

noreply@blogger.com (Dreek♥) — Sat, 06 Aug 2011 07:50:00 +0000

Hello Loves!!

I'm sharing with you guys what I did to my extremely large kitchen *insert sarcastic smile here*. Although it is small, I thought that it was very bland and extremely boring. So after a couple of hours on some DIY sites, this is what I came up with!!..PUT FABRIC ON THE WALL!!

This is an alternative to putting wallpaper on the wall or even painting. This is just an apartment, so I needed to do something that could be easily undone when it's time for us to move again.

Say hello to my small kitchen with the ancient appliances that is soooooo freaking dull! But we had to make the best out of this situation..LOL

Notice the red and green papers on the fridge? Green is for GO- as in you can eat it, Red is for Hell No-as in don't even think about it..LOL

It's very simple and the only supplies needed is:

-lightweight fabric ($10 via WalMart)

-Sta-Flo liquid starch ($3 via WalMart)

-bowl & sponge ( My Cabinets)

-Patient Honey who puts up with all of your random madness :o) (Friggin Priceless)

It's very simple!! Measure the wall then cut out the pieces that you will need to apply.

Before applying, wipe the wall with the liquid starch, apply fabric then smooth with the sponge. Apply more liquid starch on the fabric for a secure hold. My fabric stuck to the wall as soon as it was applied. YAY! :o)

So in no time you should be done, but for me I dragged this project for 2 days because 1. I ran out of fabric and 2. I was tired as hell!!

VOILA!!

Notice the Wood Stain that my Honey got on the cabinets,we're working on the dining room also, that project will be shown next!

You can also see on the wall the 3 leaf thingamajigs that I found at Goodwill for $1.99 each. A coat of red paint and they were ready to be welcomed to the wall!

We're still not done, but just thought I would share the process. I haven't been into getting dressed up lately, only on Sunday for Church, but that's about it. I just wanna get my place feeling more like home, then i'll be more focused!! Anyways, Enjoy the pics and be BLESSED!!

To Tweet or not to Tweet??

noreply@blogger.com (Dreek♥) — Sat, 30 Jul 2011 21:29:00 +0000

Do you have a twitter? Do you like it? Should I get one? I don't know!! LOL I used to be soooo anti-twitter, I am not the bandwagon type of person, but lately it seems like that's the only way i'm gonna get through to some of my friends..SMH..

So if you are a "tweeter" leave me your name so I can follow you and you can follow me?..LOL..I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT I'M DOING!!

noreply@blogger.com (Dreek♥) — Tue, 26 Jul 2011 13:00:00 +0000

Just wanted to share some of the fabric that I ordered. I can never seem to find the time to sew, but it's so many pieces that float around in my bible notes, on my fridge, and on my laptop that I really wanna make. When I do find the time and the motivation (both is needed) I don't have the fabric that I want!

So take a peep at the fabric, i'll share some of my MANY dresses and blouses with you later! Enjoy!

I've been HERE!! lol..Seriously, i've finally moved into my new and huge apartment (compared to my last "box") and life is good!

All last week I was busy with my church and our Vacation Bible School Program! I was the teacher for the pre-teens, and boy did I have my hands full!! I'm so thankful that I was even given such a huge responsibility and I took it in stride. I think on one night I had up to 12 students! God is soooo goood! We had such a blast!!

I've missed bloggingggg and shoppinggg and thriftinggggg and of course taking pictures but I now have more free time to do more, and I will.

I also have a new "venture"!! If you've read some of my previous post you know that i'm full of those..LOL..and i've decided to start selling EARRINGS!! Well not just earrings, but they are my main focus. I have almost 100 pair that belong to MOI, and against the frowns of the Honey I still continue to add to my collection.

Starting Next Month "Dazzle Me" will be in full effect!! (to God be all the Glory!!)

Check out some of my products and tell me what you think!

Please keep in mind that my goal to provide "AFFORDABLE ELEGANCE". There is nothing that I hate more than feeling like i've spent too much!!

Tell me what you think and be BLESSED Doves!!

Today I went grocery shopping and I wanted to be comfortable, as usual! We didn't buy a lot of food because we don't want to be moving it when we move on Friday. This used to be a dress, but I cut the top part off because it showed too much of the girls, and with the Honey of course that was a NO NO..LOL

I had a good day today, and honestly i'm just living life. I'm not perfect and I dont claim to be, but please know that I am SOOOOOO CONTENT with my life. Thankful to God for all that he has done and all that he is going to do in my life! Enjoy!

Outfit Breakdown:

Dress/Skirt: Simply Fashions

Shirt: Ross

Earrings & Bracelet: Random

This skirt was very fun and flowy! I love it! Be BLESSED Doves!!

Today I took time to Me, Myself, and I. I think we all should spend time with S E L F sometimes. Have you gotten to know yourself lately? Seriously, I had to sit down and re-evaluate what's been going on and all things that are to come.

The good thing about not having any friends in reach is that I find more time to spend talking to God and reading my bible. I try to take time out for Him each and every day!

I'm planning a secret date for my Honey. He spoils me so much and fills my daily life with so much joy. I just want to take some time out for him and show him how much he's appreciated. Plus, my mom and the twins are coming to town and I miss them sooooo friggin much!! Party at our place!! God Bless

Hello Doves!! I'm currently in the process of packing and moving..S T I L L, and i'm giving away a lot of my things. I do have a lot of nice clothes and shoes if I do say so myself, and God moved it on my heart to give my things away to a certain person who doesn't have, and will GREATLY APPRECIATE the things I once owned. There is nothing worse then giving your stuff away to an unappreciative person!!

Don't worry I went no where in this outfit, LOL, My Honey almost lost it when I came out the room dressed like this. He was like, "And where aren't you going?" LOL

This shirt still has the tag but i'm giving it away, as well as those red pumps that have been hiding in my closet for a year. Enjoy!

No, that is not a cupholder.

Outfit Breakdown:

Shirt: Ross

Shoes: Cato

Tights: Ross

I think I changed my mind, I'm not giving this shirt away! LOL
