While the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 is on, the FIFA has announced that it wants to increase the number of girls and women playing football worldwide from 30 to 45 million (would the MTG girls be counted in..?) by the time of the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™.

Strengthen the image of women's football and maintain it as the world's top female team sport AND give every girl and woman the opportunity to play worldwide.

Dorcas Amakobe, programme manager MTG: 'We had a great Father's day for Bahari parents. Mothers and fathers were amazing; they openly shared their experiences and had solutions to the growing problem of teenage pregnancy which affects both boys and girls. Indeed there's is growing change of attitude of father's with regard to girls empowerment. We discussed issues that just made me realize that MTG is really contributing to this change. It's a great journey that even brought the issues of both boys and girls on board. By working with fathers we feel both boys and girls will equally benefit. Congratulations Elivinah; Divisional Coordinator Bahari for a day well arranged.'

Thanks to all the fathers who are supporting their daughters to participate in MTG and their empowerment process. MTG organizes six father days event for MTG fathers in Kwale, Kaloleni, Vitengeni, Bahari, Bamba and Ganze with football, discussions and video.

And while the Women's World Cup in Canada has reached its knock out stage, it is not very different in Kilifi where the MTG primary school tournament has entered the quarter final phase. Today in Mnarani: Mikingirini, Mnarani, Mitangoni and Matsangoni primary schools with football matches and peer education on menstruation for all teams. 2014 winner Matsangoni was knocked out off the tournament by Mnarani primary school.

Registration for the Kilifi Gold Triathlon is open. Swim, bike and run for charity on 26th September! Funds that will be raised will go to Pambazuko Disability Initiative which offers support and rehabilitation physiotherapy to families with children with disabilities in Takaungu, Kilifi County.
