A superstition is something that people believe will bring good or bad luck if it happens.
The following lists are very common western superstitions.

一、失望
What a disappointment! 真让人失望!

What a bummer! Bummer! *口语中用来表示事情的进展不像自己所想象的那样。

It was a waste of effort. 白费力了。 *waste “浪费”、“白搭”，effort表示“努力”、“费尽力气”。

a wild-goose chase 白费劲。 *wild goose表示“过路的大雁”，chase意为“追赶”。会话中常用。
Did you find him. (你找到他了吗?)
No, he led me on a wild-goose chase. (没有，白费了半天劲。)
All that for nothing. 前功尽弃。 *事情进展得不那么顺利时，表示“我费了那么大的劲儿，我作出了那么多的努力，可是……”。

The sad story really brought me down. *bring...down “使……灰心丧气”。

She stole my customer. (她抢走了我的客人。)

二、寂寞
I feel lonely. 我感到很寂寞。

I miss you. 我想念你。 *miss 表示“因某人不在而觉得寂寞”，I miss you含有I want to see you(我想见到你)和I want to be with you(我想和你在一起)这两种心情。
I feel helpless without you. (没有你，我感到无助。) I feel lonely without you.
I feel empty. 我觉得空荡荡的。 *empty表示“缺少内容的，缺乏价值的，没有意义的”。
My son died, now I feel empty. (我儿子去世了，我心里空荡荡的。)
I'm sorry to hear that. (真是太不幸了。)
I feel incomplete. *incomplete(不完全的)在这里表示“内心不充实”的状态，比I feel empty.更强调空虚。
My life is empty. 我的生活很空虚。
My life is meaningless. (我的人生毫无意义。)
I'm all alone in this world. (在这个世界上我总是孤独的。)
I don't feel satisfied with my life. (我对我的生活并不满意。)

三、郁闷、忧郁

四、断念、绝望

You're too good for me. I give up. (你也玩得太好了，我不玩了。I fold. *用于玩扑克时。
I raise you $20. (［玩牌时的赌博］再加20美元。)

I can't help it. 没法子。 *当带有can时，help表示“避开”、“抑制”、“控制”，所以I can't help it 表示“不得不这样做”、“无法回避”。
You should stop smoking. (你该戒烟了。)
I can't help it. (戒不了啊。)
Not a chance! 没戏。 *用于没有可能性时。 There's nothing I can do about it.
Would you lend me ￥5,000? (你能借给我5000日元吗?))

No way. (根本不可能。) *否定语气，非常强烈，是不礼貌的说法。

我们最易犯错的16句英语

1.我非常喜欢。
I very like it. (Chinglish)
I like it very much. (English)

2.这个价格对我挺合适的。
The price is very suitable for me. (Chinglish)
The price is right. (English)

Note：suitable(合适的、相配的)最常见的用法是以否定的形式出现在告示或通知上，如：下列节目儿童不宜。The following programme is not suitable for children在这组句子中用后面的说法会更合适。

3.你是做什么工作的呢？
What’s your job? (Chinglish)
Are you working at the moment? (English)

Note：what’s your job这种说法难道也有毛病吗？是的。因为如果您的谈话对象刚刚失业，如此直接的问法会让对方有失面子，所以您要问：目前您是在上班吗？Are you working
at the moment?接下来您才问：目前您在哪儿工作呢？Where are you working these days?或者您从事哪个行业呢？What line of work are you in?顺带说一下，回答这类问题时不妨说得具体一点，不要只是说经理或者秘书

4.用英语怎么说？
How to say? (Chinglish)
How do you say this in English? (English)

Note：How to say是在中国最为泛滥成灾的中国式英语之一，这决不是地道的英语说法。同样的句子有：请问这个词如何拼写？How do you spell that please?请问这个单词怎么读？How do you pronounce this word?

5.明天我有事情要做。
I have something to do tomorrow.(Chinglish)
Sorry but I am tied up all day tomorrow. (English)

用I have something to do来表示您很忙，这也完全是中国式的说法。因为每时每刻我们都有事情要做，躺在那里睡大觉也是事情。所以您可以说我很忙，脱不开身：I’m tied up.还有其他的说法：I’m I can’t make it at that time. I’d love to, but I can’t, I have to stay at home.

6.我没有英文名。
I haven’t English name. (Chinglish)
I don’t have an English name. (English)

Note：许多人讲英语犯这样的错误，从语法角度来分析，可能是语法功底欠缺，因为have在这里是实义动词，而并不是在现在完成时里面那个没有意义的助动词。所以，这句话由肯定句变成否定句要加助动词。明白道理是一回事，习惯是另一回事，请您再说几话：我没有钱；I don’t have any money.我没有兄弟姐妹；I don’t have any brothers or sisters.我没有车。I don’t have a car.

7.我想我不行。
I think I can’t. (Chinglish)
I don’t think I can. (English)

Note：这一组然是个习惯问题，在语法上称为否定前置，这就是汉语里面说“我想我不会”的时候，英语里面总是说“我不认为我会”。以后您在说类似的英语句子的时候，只要您留心，也会习惯英语的说法的，

8.我的舞也跳得不好。
I don’t dance well too. (Chinglish)
I am not a very good dancer either. (English)

Note：当我们说不擅长做什么事情的时候，英语里面通常用not good at something，英语的思维甚至直接踊跃到：我不是一个好的舞者。

9.现在几点钟了？
What time is it now? (Chinglish)
What time is it, please? (English)

Note：What time is it now这是一个直接从汉语翻译过的句子，讲英语的时候没有必要说now,因为您不可能问what time was it yesterday, 或者what time is it tommorow?所以符合英语习惯的说法是：请问现在几点了？还有一种说法是：How are we doing for time?这句话在有时间限制的时候特别合适

10.我的英语很糟糕。
My English is poor. (Chinglish)
I am not 100% fluent, but at least I am improving. (English)

Note：有人开玩笑说，全中国人最擅长的一句英文是：My English is poor.实话说，我从来没有遇到一个美国人对我说：My Chinese is poor. 无论他们的汉语是好是坏，他们会说: I am still having a few problems, but I'm getting better. 当您告诉外国人，您的英语很poor，so what(那又怎么样呢)，是要让别人当场施舍给我们一些英语呢，还是说我的英语不好，咱们不谈了吧。另外一个更大的弊端是，一边不停的学英语，一边不停地说自己的英语很poor,这正像有个人一边给车胎充气，又一边在车胎上扎孔放气。我坚信，先不谈别的，如果您现在就苦下功夫，把这本薄薄的《英语５４３２１》吃通吃透，您的英语水平立即就会迅速的提高。所以您再也不用说：我的英语很poor. 您可以实事求事地说，我的英语还不算十分流利，但至少我在进步。

11.你愿意参加我们的晚会吗？
Would you like to join our party on Friday? (Chinglish)
Would you like to come to our party on Friday night? (English)

Note：join往往是指参加俱乐部或者协会，如：join a health club; join the Communist
Party.事实上，常常与party搭配的动词的come 或者go。如go a wild party，或者come to a Christmas Party。

12.我没有经验。
I have no experience. (Chinglish)
I don’t know much about that. (English)

Note：I have no experience这句话听起来古里古怪，因为您只需要说：那方面我懂得不多，或者这方面我不在行，就行了。I am not really an expert in this area.

13.我没有男朋友。
I have no boyfriend. (Chinglish)
I don’t have a boyfriend. (English)

14.他的身体很健康。
His body is healthy. (Chinglish)
He is in good health.　You can also say: He’s healthy. (English)

15.价钱很昂贵/便宜。
The price is too expensive/cheap. (Chinglish)
The price is too high/ rather low. (English)

16.我们下了车。
We got off the car. (Chinglish)
We got out of the car.(English)

英语口头禅

讲两句地道的口头禅可是你英语地道的标志之一。收了下面这些口头禅，英语不在话下哦。

1. Good job! Buddy.－－老兄，干得好。
只要你跟别人一起做事，good job 这个说法决跑不掉。例如两人一起讨论功课，别人先解出来了，你就可以说 "Good job." 或是 "Nice job." 来鼓励别人。这句话本来应该是 "You've done a good job." 只不过很少有老美会说那么长的一串句子。另外当别人有什么精彩演出的时候，例如打棒球时有人挥出了一支全垒打，这时候你可以说 "Good job!" 或是 "Nice play!"。只不过 "Nice play!" 多半指别人的演出很精彩，有些情况像是讨论功课，你就不能说 "Nice play!" 了。

2. Exactly. That's what I'm talking about.－－一点也没错，我就是这个意思。
要附和别人讲的一句话，老美最常用的有几个词，例如像是 "Exactly!"，"Definitely!" （一点也没错!） "Absolutely!" （无庸置疑的）或是 "Obviously!" 及 "Apparently!" （很明显的）。使用的时机就是在别人说了一句肯定的话时，你就可以接这些字眼。举个例子，那天我去吃晚饭回来遇到我的一个好朋友，我就跟她说 "I just had a chili dog for my dinner!" （我刚吃了一个热狗三明治当晚餐。）结果她一直笑一直笑，说 "Apparently, you got dinner on your face." （很明显啊! 你的晚餐都在你脸上了。）天啊! 原来我吃完东西忘了擦嘴，这下可贻笑大方了! 特别注意的是，以上所介绍的 exactly，absolutely，obviously 和 apparently 都是放在句首，而且是附和对方的肯定句。要是对方问你"Is there any...? " 或是 "Do you know...?" 这时候你就要回答 Yes or No 而不能回答这些附和的话，不然听来会很奇怪的。

3. Guess what? He is going to publish a book.－－你知道吗？他要出书了。
当老美要叙述一件会令人感到惊讶的事时，他们习惯在句首加上"Guess what?" 或是 "You know what?" 来增强自己的语气。当然，"Guess what?" 从字面上来看是"猜猜看发生了什么事"的意思，但实际上人家绝不是要你去猜发生了什么事，只要想要给听者一个惊喜。这就如同中文"你知道吗?" 是一样的。当然你还没说别人怎么会知道呢? 所以这种用法纯粹是加强语气用的。例如你刚找到一份工作，你就可以说 "Guess what? I got a job offer."。如果你有意卖个关子，则你可以只说 "Guess what?" （猜猜发生了什么事？）那别人一定不知道你葫芦里卖的是什么药，他就会回答 "What?" （注意语气要下沉），这时候你再把你发生的事告诉人家，就有卖关子的效果了。

4.Whatever!－－随便。
Whatever 在口语上的意思就是"随便，无所谓"。例如别人问你 "Do you like apple or banana?" （你喜欢苹果还是香蕉?）要是你并没有什么特别嗜好的话，就可以说 "Whatever!"。不过这句话使用上要小心，因为有一次我去速食店点餐，店员问我要什么附餐 (side dishes)，我答 "Whatever." 他就楞在那儿，不知如何是好。其实自己后来想想也蛮好笑的，真的难为了这位可怜的店员，他怎么会知道我喜欢吃什么呢。如果你这时要强调真的什么都可以的话，还可以用一个词 "Whatsoever." 来表示你真的无所谓。但请不要说成 "I don't care."，这样听来是很不礼貌的。有时候 Whatever 放在句尾也有 Who cares? 的意思。例如老美会说 "I totally have no idea how to file my tax return, whatever."（我完全不知道该怎么报税，唉，随便啦。）最后那个 whatever 是老美在讲话时很喜欢加的，就是"随便，反正我也不担心的意思。"

5.You have to keep the secret for me; you know what I'm saying?－－你必须帮我保守这个秘密，你懂我在说什么吧!
You know what I'm saying 原来是一句问句：Do you know what I'm saying? 但是老美口头上都直接把 You know what I'm saying? 尾音上扬就成了问句。这句话原是用来确定别人到底有没有听懂自己在讲什么，或是用在某种心照不宣的情况下。例如：I spent my entire day with her. You know what I'm saying? （我整天都和她在一起，你知道发生了什么事吧! 大家心照不宣。）但很多人讲得太习惯之后就变成一句口头禅了。

6.All right, I got to go.－－好吧！我必须走了。
All right 的意思大概没有人不知道的吧！但是它有一种口语上的用法不知道各位知不知道，就是当你要结束一段对话时，就可以说 All right 来结束它。例如你问别人一个问题，别人也回答你了，这时你该怎么接话? 我想很多人只会说Thanks. 其实比较口语的讲法应该是：All right, thanks. 有点像是中文"好吧，就这样吧!"的味道。同理，当你讲电话讲到不想讲了，就可以说All right, I have to hit a shower. （好吧，我必须去洗澡了。）或是两人会面结束要说再见前，就可以说：All right, I got to go.

7.Did you see her new car? It was so cool!－－你看到她的新车了吗? 真是好酷啊。
老美最喜欢用来称赞别人的形容词有两个，一个就是 cool，另一个是 awesome。这两个词相信很多人都不陌生，不过要怎么念才会听来比较有美国味呢？当老美在念 so cool 这两个词时，so 要特别拉得长长的，听起来有点像是：It was soooooo cool. 这样就没错了! 至于 awesome 则没什么特别之处，不过一般人习惯只说 Awesome. 一个词，而不太会说：It's awesome.

Linda and Susan are classmates in college.They have different majors.Linda is magoring in economics and Susan's major is business.Although they are good friends,they don't have a lot in common.Linda enjoys outdoor activities like mountain climbing and cycling.Susan prefers indoor activities like reading and playing cards.There are a lot of differences between Linda and Susan.Linda plans to work in a foreign company,but Susan is planning to study MBA in the UK.Linda is popular with her classmates because she has an outgoing personality.Although Susan is a warm-hearted girl,she is shy and doesn't have many friends.

在凯恩培训的同学都知道，凯恩教材附带了一本workbook，也就是我们常说的练习册。不知道同学们是否在每个unit结束之后都坚持完成相应部分的练习呢？我相信情况肯定不容乐观吧？我们班的调查结果是：只有2人会完成workbook，当然我肯定是其中的一位。:)

我个人觉得(In my opinion)这个workbook的内容非常好，特别是还包含了听力部分的练习。anyway,we can get much benefit from doing homework:

有助于复习和消化我们所学内容
锻炼听力
便于发现自己的不足
凯恩的笔试内容来自于workbook

Use this sentence if you don't know what to buy and someone asks,"Can I help you find anything?"
Where are your fitting rooms?
Ask the salesperson this requestion if you want to try something on before you buy. In the UK,you should ask for the "changing rooms".
Does this come in other colors?
Ask the salesperson this requestion if you have found something you really like,but you want it in a different color.
Do you have this in other sizes?
Oh,you have found the perfect pants,but they don't have you size!Ask the salesperson to find a better fit.
Do you have any of these in stock?
You see the perfect shoes on display,but you can't find them in the store.Don't worried.Ask if there are any in stock,there may be some in the storage room.
Can I put this on hold?
Not sure if you have found the perfect outfit.Just ask the salesperson to "put it on hold",then they will keep this for you for one or two days.Thay way,it can't disappear while you take time to decide.

记得刚到KaiEn上第一堂课，被老师告知不要做笔记，理由是：Real talk,speak more!可是一个学期下来，我还是坚持把老师板书在黑板上的知识一一记了下来。我的理由如下：

做笔记不等于就不speak，而且我还说的更多。因为记录的过程也是轻声朗读的过程！
做笔记有利于复习。当看到记录的内容时，可以帮助我回顾以往学习的内容。
很多东西并不是说一遍就能记住！需要多次的复习。

学习英语是一个循序渐进的过程，需要耐心和坚持！有同学和我一样也做笔记吗？
