I play soccer in the 3-year-old league at the YMCA on Saturdays. I am getting pretty good, if I do say so myself. Check out my goal I kicked in practice. "GOOOOOAAAAL"

Camping in Cuyamaca

Mama took Finley and I camping last weekend and we had a crazy, dirty, amazing, truck-filled, sleep deprived weekend with our Kensington co-op friends. We rented paddle boats at Lake Cuyamaca, ate apple pie in Julian, but mainly ran dump trucks around the campsite, played in dirt, and stayed up super late. So much fun for us!

Welcome back! Sorry for the long delay - life has been crazy with settling down in our new 'hood, school, work for my parents, gymnastics, swim classes, playdates, garden tending, party planning, paddling, traveling, etc. We have been busy. But it's time to start the updates again. I'll try and catch you up along the way. We took our family photos at the Rancho Santa Fe Inn and it was gorgeous. We almost got a family pic of all of us looking in the same direction. It was tough because our favorite part of the day was running around and not sitting still for one second. But there were some good ones sneaked in there.

Stella

I have been spending a lot of time with my favorite friend, Stella. She and I have so much fun together. Here we are at the zoo, hamming it up. Note my "Fire Chief" jacket that I'm wearing. There are some things you just can't take off, no matter how hot it is.

Grandma's 70th Birthday!

Grandma turned 70 this year and we threw her a surprise birthday party. Auntie Lara flew in and Uncle Andy and Amy came down too. She had a mahjong cake, live music, fresh crepes and ~60 of her closest friends. It was a fantastic day of celebration with lots of friends!

Crazy Hair Day

We had crazy hair day at preschool and I went all out with orange, green and yellow hair. It was a hit and I loved it!

Easter

For Easter this year we were spoilt - we had an Easter egg hunt at the YMCA near our house, then another one at home later. Dada made us Easter bunny pancakes too. We decorated eggs with our names on them in glitter. Fancy!

SD Botanic Gardens

The San Diego Botanic Gardens are right by our house. We try and go there several times a month and I love the river and boats, the sand pit and the treehouse I can climb. We ran into our neighbors Rowan and Cora there and had a blast get grimy and wet with them!

Getting Sooooo Big

At our last pediatrician appointment, Finley was 24lbs (83th%) and 30.5" tall (60th%). She is crawling around like crazy, pulling up and LOVES to walk while holding your fingers. She has taken a couple steps here and there, and it's just a matter of time before she takes off running. She loves to climb the stairs, sleep with a bunny toy blanket, suck her thumb, and give lots of hugs. She says "uh oh" and "meow" on a regular basis and points very clearly to whatever she wants. Her hair is so long and curly it needs a little clip now to hold it out of her face. She loves to eat by herself and make a big mess by dropping her food on the floor. Uh oh!

At the appointment, I was 31 lbs (38th%) and 37.5" tall (43rd%). I am the long and lean brother. I still love to cuddle Baba and Kitty at night, and I am hit-or-miss on my daytime naps now. I am talking up a storm, love playing with trucks, and enjoy "adventures" of any type. I am learning to share more with my sister. I enjoy playdates and am good about sharing with other kids so there is hope. I am loving preschool and have made some great projects there.

Santa!

I was such a good boy that Santa made a special trip to see me! I was so excited I couldn't stand it. He even gave me a present while he was here. I was a little confused why he wasn't wearing any shoes, but I didn't dwell on it. Thanks for visiting Santa - see you next year!!

Presents!

I couldn't believe how many presents were under the tree. Finley and I had a blast opening them all up.

Christmas

Christmas was SO FUN this year. I loved learning about Santa and Rudolph, and the fact that he brings me presents! I was a good boy this year so he came to my house. To make sure, I left out some cookies and milk for him.

I made the dough ornament at the top. Actually I made two of them, but Lucy ate one. No, really....she ate it. The bottom ornament is Finley's little foot this year (age 1).

We felt loved with so many great Christmas cards.

Bare Bum

My Mama can't help herself...she insists on taking bare bum pictures whenever she can. She says they won't always be this cute and I guess I have to believe her. But really Mom...do you have to post them? Sigh....

Christmas Pageant

I was in my very first Christmas pageant at preschool. I was the all important donkey! I think I did a pretty good job wearing the ears and supporting the singers. I loved to peak back and see my parents and grandparents sitting behind me.

Grandma and Grandpa came to watch the pageant too. They thought I did a great job and were so proud of me. I felt like a million bucks.

Holiday Season

On the first day of December, I got to open my first advent calendar and enjoy the treat. Sometimes it was a little chocolate, but usually a small toy or ornament. This year my Aunties Lara and Michele, and my Uncle Andy and Amy will come and visit us for the holidays. I am excited!

Winter Has Arrived

"Winter" in San Diego is never super cold, but it is nice to wear sweater and warm hats on our walks. I am riding my tricycle by myself and love to get it going so fast that I have to put my legs up and let the pedals spin. My sister enjoys being pushed in the outdoor car around the neighborhood.

We took family pictures at Balboa Park last week - baby FinFin's one year and my three year pictures. It was a tough shoot because I was running all over and baby FinFin was not in a smiley mood. This was the best we got from that day.

Santa

We met Santa the other day and baby FinFin and I got to sit on his lap. I don't think she liked it so much. Actually, I didn't love it either.

Kai 37 months

I am a big boy, I'm 37 months old. I am very verbal and am trying to bargain now. I am a bit jealous of my sister when she plays with my toys (AKA everything we have) so I get time-outs sometimes. I love my trucks, fire trucks, tricycle, Baba, and now legos! I built a choo-choo train out of legos and piled it high to pull around. I still eat "on the run" although I'm getting better about sitting for some of the time. I love to ride my tricycle up and down the street too. I wave at everyone and everything and I am a huge hugger. I've developed a perfect fake smile, on cue - just give the word. I wear underwear but still won't poop in the potty. I'm waiting for auntie Wawa to help me when she comes to visit - ha ha!! She'll see that I've become such a big boy.

Fingers and Thumbs

Reading Time

Every night after bath time, my Mama reads me books before bed. I love it, we snuggle in the beanbags and read about tractors and construction trucks, with an occasional Gruffalo thrown in.

Sometimes I don't feel like reading. Those nights, I just want to ROAAAAARRRRRRR!!!

Finley 14 months

Finley is 14 months old now. She is walking with clakkity, and takes a couple tentative steps here and there, pulls up on everything and loves crawling up the stairs. She's still learning how to come downstairs and gets stuck. Yesterday she started eating with a fork on her own and will pull her shirt over her head by herself too. When she crawls it's always with a mission in mind. And of course she is a fantastic eater of all food, and quick to belly laugh at any opportunity. Her hair is getting long now - curly and adorable. She wears 18-24 month clothes to cover her little belly. All in all, you can just eat her up as you nuzzle her belly and make her laugh.
