Special Features on One Tree Hill

If you couldn’t tell already, I’ve been watching “One Tree Hill” like it’s my job lately. I basically watched all of Season 1 yesterday since I had off of work. Oh yeah. That happened.

Prior to that I was watching Season 8. My friend Becky and I watched about 8 episodes this weekend. It also has some amazing special features...and I’m totally a special features snob. It has over two hours of bonus features including three all-new featurettes, two full-length commentaries, deleted scenes and a hilarious gag reel.

I love how special features really enhance your viewing. I, unfortunately, haven’t gotten the chance to listen to the commentaries yet--but I cannot wait! I love to see what the people involved with the show have to say about certain episodes.

I did get to watch the gag real and one of the featurettes. It was so fun seeing all of the actors joking around with each other and being themselves. Gag reels are always one of my favorite features. Are you as special feature obsessed as I am?

For fans of One Tree Hill, the Eighth Season will definitely be one to own! Includes all 22 episodes on 5 discs plus all-new featurettes, commentaries, deleted scenes and gag reel http://bit.ly/w2DhRu! You can get it on DVD and Ultraviolet. I’ve watched the entire season. I have a problem.

Music on One Tree Hill

Music plays a huge role on “One Tree Hill.” For the 8th season, different artists came to the studio and sang their own version of “I Don’t Want to Be” (originally by Gavin DeGraw).

DeGraw still performs the song in a few episodes of the season and this original is still my favorite. I think it fits best with the opening credits. The pacing and tone both work. Although--this may just be because I’m so used to hearing Gavin DeGraw’s version!

Another one of my favorite opening credits performances is by Kate Voegele (Mia on the show). It’s always fun to have one of the characters singing the songs. Plus, it doesn't hurt that she has an amazing voice.

I’m thinking someone like Adele could really work for singing “I Don’t Want to Be.” I feel like she would keep the integrity of the song. Every once in awhile one of the performances would be completely changed and it was kind of jarring. I could see Adele making it her own, yet keeping the heart of the original.

If you could pick someone to perform the song during the opening credits of “One Tree Hill,” who would it be?

Pretty Little Liars Tonight!

Ahhhh, you guys! Pretty Little Liars starts tonight!!!! Pretty Little Liars left off with such a cliffhanger. I'm so anxious to see what happens. I think we’re going to see a lot more of Jason, Jenna, Garrett and (hopefully) Mona during the rest of the season.

I’m actually thinking it’s about time we find out who A is--there is always room for another A to pop up. Am I right, or am I right?

I’m so excited to see the drama escalate. I really can’t wait to see what happens with Dr. Sullivan. I need to know what A handed to her. There are so many loose ends that are just hanging out there, so I really hope we get some answers!

I do know that once we get one answer, we’ll probably have about 1,000 more questions. It’s glorious. What questions are you hoping get answered this season?

The Winter Premiere of “Pretty Little Liars” is tonight at 8/7c on ABC Family! Will you be tuning in? I. Can’t. Wait.

Once again, I am going to try to read 100 books this year! I haven't made it the last two years--60 some in 2010 and 80 some in 2011. I always slack off at the end of the year. :( I will update you all in this post with the books read. Also, once my reads are reviewed, they will be linked up from here as well. There will never be a year when a Sookie Stackhouse novel releases that Eric wouldn’t make this list. I don’t care what kind of stupid things he does.

Okay, so I have about three books to catch up on in this series, but I. Love. Shane.

Totally crush-worthy.

Sorry these are late--I’ve had an awful cold all week. So I’m going to post Days 1-3 today and then get back to the normal schedule tomorrow. For me, these don’t have to be 2011 releases, but I made them books that I’ve read for the first time in 2011. Also, these are in no particular order since there is no way I could have decided on that!

1. Gone by Michael Grant

This was such a good book and I can’t believe I haven’t started the rest of the series yet. I need to change that in 2012.

2. Sean Griswold’s Head by Lindsey Leavitt

I’m sure you’ll see Sean again on my crush list. This was a very, very cute book!

3. The Scorch Trials by James Dashner

I can’t wait to finish this series. These books leave me with about 1,000 questions. I also don't know why I never review these. Hm.

4. Lockdown: Escape from Furnace by Alexander Gordon Smith

This book was creepy. Super creepy. Awesome.

5. Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini

Ah, I was obsessed with this book! You’ll probably see this on the cover love post as well.

6. The Pretty Little Liars series by Sara Shepard

Two words: Guilty pleasure.

7. Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry

I never thought I would like a zombie book, but here you go!

8. Stirred by J.A. Konrath

Obsessed with this series and sad that this is the last one. However, I’m glad it was left open for new spin-offs!

9. Hobin Luckyfeller's Fieldguide: Demoni Vankil by Jaime Buckley

These books are awesome. I also find it interesting that half of my list has male lead characters! Yay!

10. Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

Yay for dystopians! I’ve only read the first two, but I must finish these!

The Other Half of Me

In Season 8 Episode 13, Brooke and Julian finally tie the knot on One Tree Hill. Their wedding was beautiful and they are actually an amazing couple. I would think anyone would want their wedding to be as full of love as Brooke and Julian’s was. The reception was also gorgeous. Amazing.

The Best Man and Maid of Honor speeches were the absolute best. Haley and Nathan’s kid is so funny. He is actually one of my favorite people on the show. I love how nervous he was about giving the speech, but then he gave such a heartfelt speech. Plus, he started with a quote from JK Rowling. I mean, COME ON! I have to make a Maid of Honor speech in June--super nervous. I should probably take notes from One Tree Hill.

Do you know of any good books with awesome wedding scenes? The only ones I can think of are Breaking Dawn and obviously Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

The Dynamics of Relationships in One Tree Hill

Okay, so for about two weeks this fall I watched “One Tree Hill” for roughly three hours each weekday. I was obsessed. It’s like a soap opera...but not. The dynamics of all of the relationships are so entertaining. It’s like a good YA novel.

In the Season Eight episode, ‘Valentine’s Day is Over,’ we get a look into many of the relationships in Tree Hill. We get to see Haley and Nathan spend Valentine’s Day as a married couple, Brooke and Julian have a romantic day, and Clay and Quinn have a lovely dinner.

Haley is pregnant again and her relationship with her son is so cute. Can I also mention that her son is adorable with the girl that he likes! He buys her heart printed shoe laces. Aweeee. Haley is snooping for Valentine’s Day gifts, like always. Also, she wears some killer high heels while pregnant. Wow.

Brooke and Julian have a full Valentine’s Day to say the least. You can really tell that they love each other. I love that Brooke and Julian decide to adopt a baby at the end of the episode. They seem so happy together and actually really seem excited to be parents. Hopefully this works out for them!

Clay and Quinn also have a cute Valentine’s Day. Clay pretends that he thinks Valentine’s Day is stupid, but then totally surprises Quinn with a romantic dinner, live musical performance and gifts. It’s pretty extravagant!

You can buy the season on DVD with UltraViolet--which is awesome! I love having the episodes on UltraViolet so I can watch them on my Mac without having to put a disc in. So, who is A?

I’m going to separate the book world from the television show, “Pretty Little Liars” for this post--because I’m not sure that they’re going to be following who A is from the books.

I started watching the television show before I read the books and 15 minutes into the show I told my friend, “Mona is A.” I feel like they hinted at this and then drifted away from this idea as the show went on. However, the Halloween special episode may have hinted at it again!

I also think that A is perhaps a group of people. I don’t necessarily believe that this A and Ali’s killer are the same person. I feel like they have different motives. I refuse to believe that Lucas has anything to do with A. SAY IT ISN’T SO!

The Jenna/Garrett alliance is something we need to watch for. Especially since we see their connection with Jason (and from the Halloween episode Jenna’s connection with the cop that was getting friendly with Hanna’s mom). Do we think that Jenna’s sight is back? Maybe. Do I think Jenna is A? Not really. Did they plant the shovel? Maybe.

I can’t wait to watch this show again. I hope they story picks up right where we left it. I want to see the girls get out of this trouble. It’s bad. The special Halloween episode left me with so many questions as well. Were there two Ali-looking girls in the picture in her bedroom? What is with the dolls? Are the things Ali hid in that doll still there--aka will Aria find them? So many questions! This show will answer one question and leave you with 20 more. It’s awesome.

The Winter Premiere of “Pretty Little Liars” is on Monday, January 2 at 8/7c on ABC Family! Will you be tuning in? My DVR is totally set.

Pretty Little Liars is Almost Here!!

One of my favorite episodes of “Pretty Little Liars” is where we left off before the break (thank goodness the winter premiere is January 2!!!! Um. On Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC Family in case you didn’t know, mm kay?).

Anyway, the episode is called, “Over My Dead Body.” Hanna, Aria, Spencer and Emily told their therapist about A... which cannot end well. Now their therapist is missing and the girls need to complete some tasks to save her!

They are sent these ridiculously creepy dolls and each have to do something that is pretty awful. For example, Hanna has to stop her Dad and Isabel’s wedding. I’ll leave the other tasks for when you watch the episode like I know you will. It’s all rough and I wouldn’t want to do any of it.

The police get involved and there is also some creepy Garrett/Jenna stuff. We don’t leave the girls in a very good place and I have been dying to know what happens next. All of the previews look crazy!

This is my favorite episode because it’s so suspenseful. I also love that we get to see the story unfold in little flashbacks. Do you have a favorite episode of “Pretty Little Liars”?

My Review: I love the font used for “Demoni Vankil.” It looks like it is scratched into the book. I also like how it looks like a leather bound book. Am I the only one who wishes that books were still made that way--with the fancy ribbon bookmark? Yeah? Probably.

I read Prelude to a Hero back in June and was very happy to be brought back into the world with Hobin Luckyfeller’s Fieldguide: Demoni Vankil. Although the characters were different, they were just as charming and I connected with them instantly. This book is set after Prelude to a Hero and is looking back on the events that happened before, during and after.

Hobin Luckyfeller discovered a series of 14 letters that date back 700 years. During those 700 years, the accuracy of the events have gotten a little muddy and Hobin is delighted to be able to get a glimpse into the past (as was I).

Hobin was a great lead character. I loved trying to figure out the mystery and going through Eamon’s letters with him. After reading each letter, Hobin would share his thoughts and questions--I was pleased to see that I shared a lot of those thoughts and questions with him!

I loved how each of the characters had distinct personalities. I felt like I really got to know Eamon through his letters and was racing through the book to see how his story ended. I’m fairly certain that I read this in one sitting if that is telling you anything.

This book has all of the qualities of a great mystery and a great fantasy molded together into a wonderful story. As a mystery and fantasy junkie, I couldn’t be more thrilled that those genres were combined!

Dreams Do Come True

In the new comedy, 2 Broke Girls, Max and Caroline come to the realization that dreams can come true through an honest day’s work. Their dream is to open their own cupcake business (YUM!). Max and Caroline provide viewers with many, many laughs as well!

I think that achievements feel better when you actually work hard for them. I’ve always worked hard academically. With the end of my school days in sight (I finish grad school in August, woo!), I’m definitely feeling a sense of accomplishment. I’ve also landed a solid internship, in my field, and couldn’t be happier. Like Max and Caroline, it took awhile to get to this place, but I’m happy that I am here!

I can’t wait to see what other shenanigans Max and Caroline get up to. Plus, I love seeing all of the cupcakes they make!

Hunger Games 411-Tributes

People's Choice Awards Voting

Guys, the People’s Choice Awards are airing January 11, 2012!

You can see who is nominated and vote as often as you would like. Guess what? Pretty Little Liars was nominated for Favorite Cable TV Drama! You know I’m a little obsessed with PLL, so I’m totally voting. It was such a hard decision between PLL and True Blood. In all honesty, I’ll probably vote for both of them since you can vote as often as you like. I do know that I’m itching for PLL to start back up in January. I love that the show is a little different than the books, so I’m dying to know what happens!

I hope Spencer and Toby make it. They’re precious together. I can’t wait to finally, officially find out who A is. We were left with little clues, but could they just be leading us on a wild goose chase? Will we find out when the show starts up again? I need to know!

Favorite New TV Comedy was a really tough choice. 2 Broke Girls and Suburgatory are definitely stand-out comedies for me. I love New Girl as well, but ultimately, my vote went to Suburgatory.

Harry Potter is also nominated for about 1,000 awards... obviously I voted for them in each category. Duh.

Holy cow! It has been forever since I've been here. So sorry. But... I got an internship at an advertising agency and I am so, so happy! I'll be back with reviews soon, I'm just trying to get into the swing of working and going to school. Anywho, I just wanted to wish everyone the happiest of Thanksgivings. I hope your day was full of food, fun, friends, family...and naps! I'm heading out Black Friday shopping at midnight. Are you? What are you looking for this year?

My Review: The cover definitely fits the story--love that she’s underwater and I love the colors.

This is a short book, but Pavarti K. Tyler has decided to take the route of manga and comic books and distribute her story in sections. It’s actually pretty interesting.

I love the Sera is a hybrid of the land-dwelling people and the water people. Like many teenagers, she isn’t quite sure where she fits in. She is also the result of cruel experiments. This aspect of the story kind of reminded me of The Hunted of 2060 (another fun, sci-fi book!).

Not too long into the story, Sera meets another person who is the result of experiments. It was nice to see Sera with someone who had similar qualities to her. She has been isolated with her mother for so long (her mother’s people abandoned her because of Sera being a hybrid) that she has been feeling a bit lonely.

I really enjoyed Tyler’s writing style. While reading, I could tell Tyler thoroughly enjoyed the world she created. The character building was strong, which could have been difficult with the novella.

I’m definitely looking forward to seeing the next stage of the story!
