Paper Plate Wall Hanging

I feel very glad to post my new experiment with paper plate using paper mache technique.

For making this wall hanging all you need

2 Square shaped paper plate
bunch of 2-3 news papers
white school glue
1 cup of water
sellotape
white tissue papers
red gift wrapper paper
acrylic colors
painting brushes
sparkles and stones

How to make

Make 4-5 thin rolls of news paper and stick them to make design you want onto back side of paper plate. Stick thick paper rolls on edges of plates.
Once you complete with design and edges. Add white school glue in water and mix well. Make small pieces of tissue paper. Dip painting brush into diluted glue and stick small tissue paper pieces onto plate. Keep repeating the same process till all paper rolls get covered with tissue paper. Use some dark colored gift wrapper paper to give bright edges to plate. Let it dry overnight. White glue becomes transparent after drying.
On second day, Paint plates with acrylic colors. Make a design of your choice. Apply some stones and sparkles to highlight design.
Attach both the plates using knitting wool. As these paper plates are light weight, knitting wool would work. I have made 2 flowers with same technique and painted with acrylic color. You can use anything of your choice and your home made paper plate wall hanging is ready.

Lord Ganesha Wall Hanging made using Salt Dough

Ingredients:

1 cup whole wheat flour

half cup of salt

half cup water

Mix all above ingredients and make a firm dough.
Bake your salt dough creations in oven at 150-200 degree F for about 3-4 hours. Let them cool down and color them with acrylic colors.
Make sure you keep temp low as mentioned above. Baking on low heat will make your creations tough.
You can also make use of all purpose flour instead of whole wheat flour.

Diwali Diya Designs

Diwali celebrates the victory of light over the darkness. Diya is one of the key decorative items used for the decoration in houses.People light up earthen lamps and diyas all around their houses to celebrate this festival of light. Here, I am sharing some of my ideas and diya designs with you all. Hope you will like it. :)

This is set of 5 diyas. I made this using simple colored clay. Since this is not air dry clay, it took quite long time to dry. I decorated it with stones, decorative flowers and some sparkle colors.

This is again made from simple colored clay and decorated with stones and sparkle colors. I used white school glue to stick the stones on diyas as white glue turns transparent after drying. You cannot see traces of glue when it gets dried.

These diyas are made from salt dough and baked in oven. Then I painted them with acrylic colors and decorated with stones and pearls. :) Here is recipe for making salt dough.

Musical Ganesha made using Air Dry Clay

I have made this musical ganesha with Air dry clay. Air dry clay is less sticky and smoother than regular clay. So, its very easy and great fun to work on it.:) It took around 2 days to dry ganesha completely. On third day i have applied sparkles to highlight jewellery part. I have used only 3 colors for making this art. You can use different color combination to make it even more beautiful.
