Well-known travel guide publisher, Lonely Planet, has just declared Kalbarri ‘best coastal experience’ in its Blue List ratings.

The Blue List is compiled by the Lonely Planet community of authors, staff and travellers, so it’s a consensus from an audience of independent and active travellers.

One that is a particular favourite of ours is the Seahorse Sanctuary, where you can see what seems like every shape, variety and colour of seahorse under the sun.

Established by conservation biologists Wendy and Michael Payne, the Sanctuary began by providing seahorses wholesale to pet stores, and now runs tours of the facility for holiday-makers and school groups.

The Sanctuary is open 5 days a week, and every day during school holidays, from 10 am till 4 pm. Highly recommended.

The resort is due to launch in October 2008, and the best way to describe the atmosphere here right now is ‘frantic buzz’! As the first Edge Resort, we will not only be launching Kalbarri Edge, but the start of a whole chain of new coastal resorts in WA.

Positioned at the 4-4.5 star level, the Kalbarri Edge serviced apartments have been designed in a clean, modern style, and are fully self-contained with everything from dishwasher to private spa.
