I feel like it's time to change the sound up a little bit. Actually, I just really wanted to have an excuse to express how much I wish I could have had an actual fall/winter. I feel like I got really ripped off, you know?! It's supposed to get into the 80's again this week. Yes, I said "again." That's just wrong! It's barely March! Anyway, I wanted some music that felt like winter to me and I immediately thought of Agnes Obel. Her voice really astounds me, it's so beautiful. Plus, she uses strings and you guys all know how I love some strings. I love her sound so much! So here's to finding some tunes that fight off a little of the Arizona-not-only-sucks-out-my-soul-but-also-stole-my-favorite-seasons-from-me-and-I-want-it-all-back... feeling. Ahem.

This has been an... interesting year, to say the least. I'm definitely glad to see it go, as it was a difficult one on so many levels. BUT! But, I had a freakin' stellar music year. I found new favorite bands, went to amazing concerts, was introduced to awesome tunes from all you music lovers, fell in love again with old favorites and just really had a blast listening to a ridiculous amount of stellar music.

Greetings, music lovers! Last Friday I was lucky enough to see American Authors headlining a tour with The Royal Concept! Oh my goodness, you guys... this concert was SO GOOD! Not only do they both sound amazing live, but they played songs from their upcoming albums! American Authors have their new album coming out in March (I know, so far away! GAH!), so keep an out for that. One song they played from the new album was particularly awesome. This album is going to be so amazing, you guys! I thought I'd share some of my favorites with you this week (other than those I've previously shared here). Oh yeah! They were joined by a band I wasn't familiar with, Mister Wives. They were fun, but I had a hard time understanding what they were saying. Oops! Still a great experience! Studio C is some amazingly good, clean fun! My sister first introduced me to the show a few months ago (via Youtube, of course). I could hear her laughing all through the house, so one day I finally asked her what in the world she was laughing at. After wiping the tears from her eyes, she had me watch a few of her favorites. Needless to say, I discovered why tissues and loud, booming laughter were called for. When this tour came along, I jumped at the chance to watch seasons 1 and 2 in their entirety. As with the clips I was able to see previously, this whole show is full of quirky, fun humor fit for the whole family. It's really rare for there to be family friendly, clever comedy in our world today. I feel it very fortunate that Studio C is here, showing everyone that you can be funny without resorting to profanities or innuendos or what have you. The cast is engaging, talented and just straight up hilarious. The off-beat humor is so much fun, especially when pop culture and/or physical humor plays a big part. In all honesty, this show is absolutely up my alley. I'm such a nerd, and I have a strange sense of humor anyway, so Studio C totally cracks me up. Some particular favorites are the flirting course skits, radio hour sound effects, Captain Literally and any including the shoulder angel. So much fun packed into two discs!

If you're looking for something entertaining and straight up hilarious - not to mention appropriate for the whole family - check out Studio C. And yes, you may want to bring tissues to wipe away the tears of laughter. Just sayin'...

I was listening to my iPod on shuffle during the most annoying drive to work last Friday, when my favorite song from The Sunshine Underground popped up. Instantly, I started singing along and the drive became much more bearable from then on out. I know this album, Raise the Alarm, is a little older, but if you can get your hands on it, do. It's my favorite one. I think The Sunshine Underground is really underrated, but I'm happy they're still producing awesome music. So yeah... happy listening!
