Game Entertainment Europe, publisher of Online games and Eximion, developer of the Kalydo 3D browser game platform have signed an agreement to bring downloadable MMO games to Social Networks such as Facebook and Netlog.

Therefore, existing downloadable MMO games will be seamlessly ported so users can start and play these games in a Web browser. When ready the online games will be offered to millions of users in Social Networks using Kalydo. With this cooperation both companies follow the success of other Social Games like Restaurant City, Mafia Wars and Farm Ville, where users don’t have to register, download and install games. Also it is very easy to share the game and their game results with many of their friends.

The first game that will be launched is Hovorun (www.hovorun.com), a casual multi player racing game based in the Mario Kart theme. The planning is to launch the first browser version of this game to social networks such as Hyves and Netlog.

Kalydo upgrades to 3.0 - Important notice

We are upgrading the Kalydo Player, the software which runs our 3D browser games, to its new version 3.0 between 5 and 10 november.

Everyone will be prompted to re-install the Kalydo Player upon playing a game. This is an automatic, mandatory update. The previous version will no longer work. After installing the new Kalydo Player you will be able to play all of our games again, now and in the future.

Downtime during the transition
Between 5 and 10 November it is possible we will experience a few hours of downtime. We apologize for the inconvenience.

New features in the Kalydo Player v3

The Kalydo Player has been improved with the following key features:

• Up to 3 times shorter loading times
• Better stability and browser support (IE 6, 7, 8, Firefox, Chrome)
• Improved options panel with full screen and audio options
• Extensive scalability with future MMO support
• Automated localisation support (more languages coming soon)

Faster loading times
The most noticable improvement is the extremely optimized loading times of the games. All the games on the Kalydo Platform now load up to 3 times faster than before.

New Kalydo website design

Hello everyone,

Probably you have noticed that the Kalydo website has gotten a new look. So why have we changed the website design?

The past months the number of partner websites that work with Kalydo has increased dramatically. While we really liked the previous website with the green tabs on the side, we needed something that was more fitting for all our partners. The redesign is a combination of design and technical decisions.

Most of our partners have limited space on their website so there was a demand for a smaller 'console'. On top of this we felt that the Kalydo console needed to be even simpler to use so we took out every small thing that was not really neccesary. One of the main new features is that there's now a customizable skin around the Kalydo console which can be different for all our partners. So expect some wonderful cool game artwork to enjoy every time you visit us!

We hope you enjoy the new look of the website. We will miss the old one a little bit as well but that's life! Mahjong Mountain is coming out soon, that's why the new skin is all dressed up and in Mahjong Mountain style. We hope you like it when its out!

Winners contest Konstrukt Invasion

The past few months the great music community Tribe of Noise held a contest together with us. In this music contest professional and non-professional musicians were invited to make new music for our shooter game Konstrukt Invasion.

Within the first day there were already over 30 submissions, which grew to a whopping 160 submissions during the course of the contest. The quality was exceptionally high, ranging from classical pieces to rock and electronica.

The contest quickly aquired national and international acclaim, got featured on several reknowned websites and got airplay on the Dutch national radio (BNNToday).

The prize of the concest ofcourse is getting your music featured in our game Konstrukt Invasion. And that's what we have done for you. The two winners (we couldn't decide hehe) are now permanently part of the game on our website and our partners (Netlog, BBGsite).

We are rather proud to announce that one of our colleagues, Michiel Roza, is going to present at the renowned Siggraph convention this week. This wednesday, August 5, Michiel will be talking about GamePro, the Realtime Visual Performance Profiler he developed during his graduation at Eximion.

His innovative brainchild GamePro quickly turned into something much bigger than just another graduation project... Read on to find out more about this wonderful, techy and jazzy story!

About GamePro
GamePro is a visual performance and resource profiler for real-time applications.
The key unique feature is it's ability to quickly show performance bottlenecks in an application at any time interval.

For example: Causes of frame drops in games. During profiling GamePro only uses a minimal amount of resources so the real-time application is minimally affected; the application will still be as responsive as before.

The usual suspects and more
GamePro has various visualizations to show the abundance of information in an intuitive way. These visualizations also allow you to compare time frames as well as different application runs. Of course features you would expect in a profiler like finding bottlenecks, memory leaks and memory hogs are also included.

Its summer at Kalydo. This doesn’t mean we are away for the holidays, on the contrary, there are lot of cool new games coming your way! The first two games that will kick start our brand-new Classic channel will be available soon.

Kalydo is going to bring you fantastic 3D versions of the classic games we all love from the past. The first two games in our new Classic channel will be Robo Brix (breakout) and Mahjong Mountain (mahjong). Meet your favorite characters again and play these fantastic games in a way that’s only possible at Kalydo.

Robo Brix

This is our 3D homage to the classic Breakout / Arkanoid game. But this time its in a circular arena in the futuristic Robo world. You can play with your favorite hero's again (male en female) in this spectacular action game.

We've added a number of little additions to the original game concept and... ofcourse everything is rendered in amazing 3D graphics. Let the screenshots speak for themselves!

Mahjong Mountain

Kalydo Playtester Guidelines

Kalydo lets you actively help develop the games by becoming a playtester. You can request Beta Access for games which are in beta at the website. Once you have access you will notice that a green playbutton appears that was not there before.

Games in beta are free to play (which is nice for you ofcourse) but its for a good reason. We need your feedback! So in return for your feedback which is very useful to us, you get to play the games before anyone elese does!

Short summary

3. - Enjoy your day !

Sometimes we will use terminology like Closed Beta, Public Beta and Release. What are these? Read on padawan!

What is Closed Beta ?

The term Closed Beta is used for the first rough version of the game that we give to a select group of play testers.

This version of the game does not have all the features that will be in the finished game and it will not look very pretty in some places. This is because we like to to show it to you very early on in the development process.

We like to know if you like the ‘core’ of the game. If you are excited about the game at this point in time, we are confident that we can make you happy with the final result as well. If there are serious problems or you think we have made a wrong choice somewhere we like to hear it. You are free to give feedback about all the aspects of the game, but we are mainly looking for feedback on the core game concept.

Fill out the Questionnaire and let us know what you think of the game at this point.

What is Public Beta ?

A game in Public Beta is offered to all of our playtesters with beta access. The game is now a lot more finished and should feel like a finished product in most places. During Public Beta we try to collect as many bugs, crashes and statistics to make improvements to the final Release version of the game.

What is Release ?

Release is the finished, commercial version of the game that will be published on the Kalydo platform for all our members. The game is not free anymore and can be earned by playing it and comes with avatars and ringtones. The term 'Gold' is also often used for this final version of a game.

Eindhoven, The Netherlands – June 5 – Kalydo, the browser based 3D game platform, announces its upcoming Classic game channel. Next to its larger, often story driven games, the classic games will offer an alternative stream of games, reshaping the retro games of old into Kalydo’s trademark 3D worlds. Kalydo hopes to appeal to an even wider audience this way and substantially increases the number of quality game releases.

After a successful beta period, Kalydo had its commercial launch earlier this year. A constant increase of players and successful partnerships has earned them a modest place in online 3D gaming already. Kalydo now moves forward to expand its scope and introduces the Classic game channel.

HAVEN game announced for Kalydo

Eindhoven, The Netherlands - 21 April 2009 Eximion Game Studio and Kalydo announce the development of a new game with the working title 'Haven'. This dramatic futuristic battle between the forces of light and dark marks a new era of game development, featuring vastly improved graphics, engine technology and sound.

Since its start in 2008, Kalydo has published a number of successful 3D browser games. These pushed the boundaries of what was thought possible for web based games. Eximion, the company behind Kalydo, says on its website to build ‘console quality games for your browser. With the first look of their new game ‘Haven’ (working title) this seems a valid claim. No release date has been mentioned yet.
