I find them hard to keep picked, and truthfully, sometimes I end up with overgrown beans I have to throw away.  I also notice I don't think of beans as a summertime food in the same way I do things like tomatoes and zucchini, so when I'm wondering what to cook, beans are less likely to pop into my mind.
