Uses of Lavender

Hi all. Just to reiterate a few points, Lavender is great for our health and soul. Nothing is better than something natural that gives you a sense of calm to deal with the pressures of daily life! Nothing quite beats Lavender and as you read on, you will know and appreciate the fantastic powers of Lavender.

Ways of using Lavender:

1. If you are experiencing a headache; be it tensional or a migraine, lavender oil can be applied ndiluted onto the skin. Massage a few drops into the temples on your head to relieve the headache. You could also apply the oil onto your wrists and palms and gently massage it into the nape of your neck to aid relaxation.

2. Use it as an antiseptic to relieve pain and irritation from small burns, cuts, bites and stings, and after ear and other piercing (yikes).

3. Add 1 to 4 drops of pur lavender oil per tablespoon of base oil (eg sweet almond oil) for a simple massage oil.

4. Add 4 drops to 100 ml distilled water fora refreshing facial cleanser.

5. Add a few drops to bath water to help you relax and relieve pain and discomfort. For women, this will
help relieve menstrual cramps.

6. Put a small sachet of dried lavender close to your pillow to help you sleep or spray some lavender scent
onto your clothes sto keep fabric smelling fresh and keep clothes moths away.

7. Drop 2 to 4 drops of pure lavender oil in 2 to 3 cups of boiling water; inhale vapours for headache,
depression or insomnia.

8. Classic : drop a few drops of lavender oil in water in an oil burner to give a relaxing armoa. Ditto.

Note to all : Pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid using lavender as a precaution.

Lavender has been used for centuries in a variety of ways, particularly for its calming and soothing effects. Aromatherapists use it to aid sleep and relaxation, improve mood and treat headaches. Herbalists usse it for treating skin ailments such as fungal infections, wounds and acne.

Scientific evidence indicates that lavender aromatherapy and massage with essential oil can slow the activity of the nervous system, improve sleep quality, reduce anxiety, promote relaxation, and lift mood. Studies have found that lavender aromatherapy; reduced agitation in some people with severe dementia, reduced anxiety and improved mood in patients waiting for dental treatment. It was also shown to improve concentration following aromatherapy breaks between work sessions.

Lavender oil has antiseptic, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-parasitic properties as well as local anaesthetic activity.

Hi all. One thing is for certain : Western Australia is the largest state in Australia. Blessed with large deposits of mineral resources, Western Australia is also home to diverse peoples who have come to call the State home. In this post, I will introduce to you just one of the many gems that attracted people to live in Western Australia.

The place in mind is located in Nannup, Western Australia. Nannup?? Where's that? Nannup is located 282 km south of Perth, absolutely right in the middle of the South West of Western Australia.

Known as the Garden Village, this town is the perfect place to set up as a base for further exploration to sites and sounds in its surrounds. Nannup's location to the following places as indicated below clearly and is perfect in terms of CHEAPER prices as compared to these 'Touristy' places. These touristy locations are

Augusta 90 Km, Alexander Bridge 64Km,
Bunbury 100Km, Busselton 60Km.
Manjimup 60Km, Pemberton 75Km,
Bridgetown 45Km, Balingup 41Km,
Kirup 58Km, Donnybrook 73Km,
Margaret River 70Km direct (35Km gravel),
on all sealed roads.

There are numerous resthouses and cottages for rental and temporary residence and would serve as good resting places.

If you are into aroma-therapy, then you MUST visit Namastey Lavender. This lovely farm is built on a former paddock (where animals grazed). Through years of hard work, the owners have managed to carve out and create a fantastic and lovely lavendar farm. They grow a variety of Lavender plants and have started to produce organically produced Lavender oils and products.

The Lavender Oil, known as Namastey Lavender Oil, is produced from plants grown at the farm in Mumballup (between Collie & Donnybrook).

There are 20000 plants of Lavandula Augustifolia (commonly known as English Lavender) and L. Angustifolia x intermedia (Lavandin) grow on the sunny north facing slope of the property which overlooks the Glen Mervyn Dam.

Owners of the property, Bob and Jenny Greig, have opened the Lavender Shed, to welcome visitors. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and lovely scones at your leisure. Discover the unique qualities of lavender and choose from a range of lavender products for sale, including essential oils, sachets, heat packs, soaps and lavender bunches (to beautify and aromatise your rooms).

The sight of the lavender in full flower (November to February) is a glory to behold and this beautiful plant, which has been loved by many for hundreds of years, will never lose its appeal.

Damn! I will always want to forget the 21st of August 2010. How could I have lost my wedding band as it dropped out from my finger! Argh! This is going to cost me, lots!
