FAUX FURR FUN

Once considered a style only exclusive to women, fur and faux fur coats are the latest trend that has crossed over from the female counterparts. In fact, fur coats were the epitome of elegant femininity during the 1950's, but as time has progressed men have adopted it to produce a more sophisticated and superior style.

While faux fur is trending on the runways, wearing it is something that requires ample preparation first, especially when it comes to men. After all, you don't want people to think you accidentally shopped at a women's department store, proudly adorning your newly bought fur coat but being unaware that your masculinity levels are slowly tumbling down the drain. This particular style is an eye catcher but like anything with fashion we should aim to gain positive attention, not negative.

The key to pulling off such a unique piece of clothing is to carefully consider how much fur/faux you actually want to wear. Many coats only showcase the fur on the collar. If you're a fan of subtlety, then fur collars are the way to go. That being said however, from what we've seen at recent fashion shows, full fur/faux coats are fast becoming the next best thing so if you want to take a trip to the wild side and wear full faux, focus on dark tones like black and brown to detract attention away from how overt this style actually is.

And most of all, if you're going to wear a fur/faux coat, make sure your outfit that goes with it is simple. With fur coats, its important to remember that less is more. Fur/Faux in general is already a very rich material to work with, so going overboard with bright colours, patterns and fancy accessories would be overkill and just plain messy.

WINTER 2014 MUST-HAVES

On the runway this season, head-to-toe winter white makes one of the strongest impressions. Derek Lam, Proenza Schouler and Tommy Hilfiger notes this easy to assemble season-spanning shade, is a no-brainer addition to the most wearable trends list. Glamour magazine notes, when the temperature's low, the tendency is to reach for dark colors, but why not grab a winter white piece instead? A chic coat fits in at the office, and denim works for the weekend. Do save flouncy pieces for spring by choosing weather-appropriate staples such as chunky knits, heavier materials and designs that make sense in autumn. So I compiled my favorite season trends through the style icon of our time @KimKardashian!

Lady Fairytale
Erotically charged is fall-winter 2013/2014's lady. Collections show lingerie inspired pieces featuring romance and mystery in capes, high necks and grand silhouettes. Robes of cardinals, monks, nuns and priests are the inspiration behind some of the season's most note-worthy shows.

Academically-Inspired
Back-to-school is synonymous with fall, collections by Tory Burch saw crisp button-ups layered underneath cardigans worn with tweed pants, Chanel dresses up tweed in their Haute Couture collection through skirts and suits while Alice + Olivia runs with argyle and plaid. Patterns are classic; pinstripes and leopard make appearances on the runway while houndstooth is a breakout star.

50 Shades of Gray, Blue and Green
Not everything is black or white. Fall's runways are rife with the in-between, from charcoal to slate, consider it the new neutral. The fall 2013 runways showcase a wide range of cool blue hues, from navy to Valentino's cobalt jumpsuit to Prada's ladylike sky-blue gingham sheath, while declared the "it" color of 2013, emerald and shades of green appear in collections by Phillip Lim, Pantone, and Carolina Herrera.

Vintage Inspired-Mod-Mini Dresses-Pleated Skirts-Autumn Florals-Grunge
Diana Argon showcases Marc Jacobs spring/summer take on floral patterns in '50s style, while the '60s mod era influences capes, thigh-high boots and Twiggy-inspired mini-dresses. Calvin Klein and Celine borrow from the'70s and early '80s with their high waists and pleats, while the grunge spirit of the '90s fits right into the mold of fall's tough-girl approach to layered styling shown at Rodarte.

Leather
Some of the best fashion houses from Chanel to Vionnett show this season's rebel woman with wardrobe including zips, chains and studs. Leather embellishments and details appear on collars, blouses, t-shirts, jackets, skirts and pants.

Accessories- Shoes-Outerwear
Finally, designers spared no angular line or boxy shape in their new structural bags and
handheld accessories. It's been more than a few years since thigh-high boots re-introduced themselves, while smaller heels, color blocking and flats make appearances complimenting hats, gloves and statement coats for go-to trends of the season.

Fall/Winter 2013- Color Of The Season!

As I know that a lot you are fans of the many shades of purple, I can't tell you how excited I am to see a lush shade of plum popping up all over sneak peaks for Fall/Winter 2013. It's so prominent that I'm officially issuing a trend watch: Keep your eyes peeled for fabulous plum products! Already I've noticed many top companies previewing product that features this lovely color.

I'm wildly impressed with the direction that cosmetic companies continue to go in, and they are right on this trend.

There are a lot of directions that can be taken when using plum, and you don't have to wait for new product to get into this color trend either. Ranger's Adirondack color line has a beautiful wild plum color and Bazzill has a nice dotted swiss cardstock pack in plum pudding.

Lately you might have noticed the arrival of printed pants/leggings in your favorite stores. What started as a runway fantasy has now become a wearable trend. Now, I know what you might be thinking: "cute, but not for me." Well to that I say think again! There are prints for everyone and the best thing to remember is to keep the print small and monochromatic if you are worried about looking too bold. Keep the rest of the outfit fairly simple and definitely keep the pants slim and tailored. These prints work best in skinny jeans and slim trousers; with wide leg pants you run the risk of looking like you've left the house in your pajamas. This week's fabulous finds feature collar necklaces! Our favorite time of the week is finding you guys the greatest deals on the trendiest fashions! The whole collar jewelry fad has our approval from the start. Always a big fan of any kind of bib necklace, we were so sad when they seemed to be absent from the retail market middle of this year. But luckily, the silhouette took a slightly high road and found its way back into our heart. Collar necklaces have become all the rage amongst the fashion industry professionals. We think these are fun to pair with funky prints, fitted dresses and that basic white crew neck and jeans.

Don't be afraid of the solid giant casted metal collars. These are the EASIEST ones to wear! Basic metal styles with etchings go with every outfit from simple and chic to over the top fancy pants! The chunky multi component collar necklaces can be more challenging to wear, or rather, take time to pair with the perfect outfit. Remember to balance out your textures. Wear heavy chains,mixed platings and beads with light fabric apparel, muted colors and less dramatic footwear. Other jewelry accessories you can match back to your collar jewelry are thin chain bracelets, friendship bracelets and big rings. Go without the ear wear or stick to very basic studs.

We are seeing this trend pop up left and right in retail stores. From Mr Price to the downtown Jozi fashion district allies, there is a collar for every pocket book! But we just had to dig around and find you guys the best deals We know there is nothing better than scoring the latest fashions at a reduced price. With how fast fashion changes these days, you've got to choose which trends fit into your personal style and budget! This is definitely a trend that we see living through next year. A key trend for this season is the crop top, so rather than being distracted by the fleeting heavy downpours, distract yourself with a look at what is on offer for the upcoming season.

From the bralette for the uber confident to the belly skimmer, there is a shape for everyone. Designers from all over have showcased versatile ways of incorporating the crop top for day-wear and even evening outfits when styled correctly.

Eccentricity was embraced at Prada, with the iconic vintage cartoon car print appliquéd onto tiny bandeaus. These super short tops were then combined with high waisted pencil skirts so that only a peek of golden, summery skin was revealed. Pucci adopted a gypsy style for its Spring Summer 2012 collection with intricate beading and long, floor length maxi skirts. Lace and sheer chiffon kept it sultry and dare I say it, a design suited for evening wear. The ever-fabulous Dolce and Gabbana presented the smallest of crop tops that were not too far away from just being a bra. Possibly the most iconic look of the season, the designs were perfect templates for the vibrant vegetable and flowery patterns.

There is no escaping the crop top, so why not take inspiration from the catwalk and reveal a peak of your midriff for the summer. Combined with high-waisted skirts and trousers, there is no need to reveal too much flesh, in fact the secret to this look is to maintain sophistication.
