Kangana Ranaut

Kangna Ranaut is all set for an on-screen transformation in her upcoming flick, Queen, directed by Vikas Bahl. For the first time, the Tanu Weds Manu (2011) actor, known for her avant-garde appearance, will portray a typical‘behenji’ from the Lajpat Nagar area in Delhi.

“Kangna’s character in this chick flick will be a very simple girl next door. When the script was narrated to her, she was excited about attempting to play this ‘novel’ role,” says an insider.

“Since Kangna plays a ‘seedhi-saadhi’ (simple) girl from Delhi, her look will also be along the lines of a regular girl nextdoor.

And since her sister Rangoli knows her best, we have asked her to design Kangna’s look,” confirms the film’s spokesperson. Besides Delhi, Queen will be shot in several exotic locations across Europe.

The film has been written by Vikas, along with Parvez Shaikh and Chaitally Parmar. “In a way, Kangna is the hero of our film. We are starting the shoot from August onwards.

Kangana Ranaut is working pretty hard these days to acquire the desi Lara Croft image before she starts shooting for Krrish 2.

She has been taking inspiration from Hollywood action flicks and is particularly inspired by Hilary Swank's role in The Next Karate Kid. A source said Kangana has been taking Karate lessons for quite some time now. Hilary had looked hot and at the same time tough in The Next Karate Kid and Kangana seems to be the perfect blend as well.

Talking about her rigorous training sessions, she said: "I wanted to be completely prepared physically before we kickstart the shooting for Krrish 2." With such gusto and ardour, it seems Kangana is all set to become the first tough woman of Bollywood.

2011-11-03T11:27:00.000-07:00

In times when even the great actresses of Bollywood including Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif do not miss the chance to bag the items, fortunately Kangana Ranaut says no to anything.

Kangana Ranaut might be in a relationship soon

2011-04-22T20:45:00.000-07:00

Kangna Ranaut cocks a snook at all those colourful controversies. Filmfare cross-examines her

You’ve been accused of namedropping… specially the heroes.
First they write Kangna is having an affair with co-stars! I clarify that rumour saying they are my friends. Next thing, I know is that I’m using their names and calling them my friends! Then I say, they’re not my friends and dont mean anything to me. Then they go on to say, ‘Kangna said that they are not her friends! Are they her enemies?’

Then I say they’re nobody to me… and it goes on. So what am I supposed to call them, my friends or my enemies? The truth is once I go back home, it doesn’t matter to me what Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt or Salman Khan do. Main apne ghar mein khush hoon, woh apne ghar mein. Mujhe unse kya lena dena yaar? But when I am on the sets, it does matter to me how Ajay’s mood is and I do make sure that everyone is calm and happy. If I’m having a coffee I invite them to have one as well. That’s all!

Kangana ranaut

You were once a regular at Salman’s house parties. But suddenly there was a cooling off. You weren’t even invited for his Being Human show in which all his actresses participated. Why?

When a girl is often seen with Salman tongues wag. But believe me we are just good friends. Granted Salman is a bigger star but I am also equally busy. We do meet a lot when both are free. We were to do a film together last August. But two days before the schedule, the film got canned. Mahesh sir (Manjrekar), Salim uncle (Khan), Salman and I used to meet regularly for discussions. That’s the time when I was seen a lot at his house. But after the project got delayed, I got busy with my own work. That doesn’t mean we had a fight or a misunderstanding. But when Salman has said, ‘Kangna is a friend and I’ll work with her’ and when I’m saying everything is fine, why are people making up such stories?

What kind of a man would suit an independent girl like you?
My man has to be more intelligent than I am, which is difficult to find. He should definitely be more successful than me, which is not so difficult to find. I’d be a fool to expect a better looking man than me, which is impossible to find (Laughs). However, I don’t think I’ll come across a man who's as successful as I am at 23.

Kangna has a gift very few actresses have. A face so versatile, that with each new movie, you wonder if it's the same girl you saw earlier. At Cosmo's 6am covershoot, she is the first to arrive, as fresh as you can get at the crack of dawn, and has thoughts on everything...the clothes, the make-up, the photographs.
She's only 23, but already the perfect combination of tough and charming, and that's probably one of the things that have helped take her to the top and made her an inspiration for young girls wanting to make it big without being born into the industry.

Determined, driven and motivated to keep going until she has it all, the curly-haired star bears her soul, style, and sensibility to Cosmo...

Kangana Ranaut at the Giants International Awards

2010-09-17T21:08:00.000-07:00

Kangana Ranaut is slowly making it to my list of the top fashionista in bollywood. She knows fashion and loves to experiment and most times she looks great.

Gloves were a huge thing on the runways for Fall 2010. Ms Ranaut seems to have caught the trend.

Kangana Ranaut at the Giants International Awards. The good thing about Kangana is that her style is always unpredictable and she is always changing things up. I'm not liking this look though. The gloves are too much.

But this look is not working for me. She could have gone for fingerless gloves and hair pulled back. Or she could have worn a single tone dress and worn the black gloves, it would have stood out. But here her black gloves is clashing with her black clutch, her black skirt , her black legging and black shoes. A big no.

Kangana was sporting a purple salwar kameez that gave away when its zip ripped off. The actress tried to cover it with her right hand but it's too hard to escape from camera in this glam world.

Noticing this, Kangana didn't stay for long at the ceremony and left. It needs great courage and boldness to face such incidents and Kangana has that caliber.

To name a few, besides Kangana, actresses like Katrina Kaif, Lara Dutta and Negar Khan have also experienced such incident.

Kangana Ranaut Favorite of salman

2010-08-18T10:10:00.000-07:00

Bollywood sweetheart, Salman Khan has found a new friend in Gangster girl Kangna Ranaut. This has currently become the HOT topic in B-town.

Grapevine has it that this new friendship has fetched the actress a role in an untitled flick opposite Salman Khan. The film is a Hindi remake of Manjerkar’s Marathi film Mee Shivajiarje Bhosle Boltoy. While it was obvious that Salman would cast his all time favorite, Katrina Kaif in the lead, he shocked us once again by announcing his current favorite Kangna Ranaut as his leading lady in his home production.

Not very long ago, after the success party of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, Kangna was seen leaving Salman’s apartment at the wee hours of the morning. Perhaps, it was because the actress went there to discuss about the film, as revealed by one of the insiders.

Kangna Ranaut in Deepa Mehta's Midnight Children

2010-08-15T00:13:00.000-07:00

Kangana Ranaut’s talent is being increasingly recognized by directors not just in India but abroad as well. Toronto-based director of Indian origin Deepa Mehta, whose film Water was nominated for Oscars two years back, has finalized Kangana to play a very important role in her cinematic adaptation of author Salman Rushdie’s Booker winning novel ‘Midnight’s Children’.

Kangana will play a woman married to a Pakistani politician. Her character’s name is Emerald and she is described in Rushdie’s book as pretty and cryptic.

We hear that from the start Deepa Mehta wanted Kangana to play the role. Kangana, who’s slightly eccentric but in a gorgeous way, fits the role perfectly.

Deepa has confirmed Kangana’s presence in the film. The shooting will begin next year.
