Rebound Headaches…What Are They and Why Are They Such a Pain?

Ibuprofen addict? If so, be wary. Rebound headaches occur when there is too much reliance on headache pain relievers. They happen when pain medication or analgesics are taken more than two to three times a week and tend to affect both sides of the head. They may be accompanied by nausea and even vomiting along with depression.

Self-medication or OTC [over-the-counter] meds taken in regular intervals contribute to these annoying headaches sometimes called withdrawal headaches. In essence, that is what happens…withdrawal. Your body is craves what it isn’t getting even though it isn’t good for you because it is used to it. When your body becomes used to the high-level doses of medication, it leads to more frequent use. Then you’ve got addiction. End result, your body is hooked on drugs and it takes more and more to dull the pain.

Then one day you don’t take the same amount. You think you should stop. Your head starts to scream at you…and this time it hurts worse than it ever did before. You are caught in a vicious cycle of relief, drugs, reduction of drugs, more headache, more drugs, an increase of drugs, reduction in drugs, greater pain and so on and so on and so on. A spiral with no apparent end in sight.

8 Cancers You Don’t Want Your Children to Ever Get

Cancer is the leading disease-related cause of death in children under 14 years of age! This is a fact that left me wondering, with despair, what kinds of cancer crop up in our children this often, why is it happening and what can we do to reverse this tragic trend?

According to the American Cancer Society, leukemia, brain and nervous system cancers, neuroblastoma, Wilms tumor, lymphoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, retinoblastoma and bone cancers are the eight primary types of childhood cancers. And within these groups are subgroups of other kinds of cancers–seemingly endless. When we think about it, this shouldn't surprise us given our lifestyle and western diet that we follow and that our children are also following.

In 1931, Dr. Otto Warburg made a conclusive determination that cancer will live and proliferate in an acidic environment. Conversely, cancer will die in an alkaline environment. Based upon this seeming simplistic finding by a Nobel Prize winning scientist, it's safe to say that we are creating horrendously acidic children. And is it any wonder? Our diets are full of animal protein, saturated fat, fake sugars and empty calories; we stop for fast food all the time because it is easy and convenient. And we now know that 70 gallons of soda pop, on average, is being consumed by every person in the United States–most of which is downed by children. The advent of unlimited soda every time we walk into a Taco Bell, a MacDonald's or any other fast food restaurant is literally a killer.

These growing statistics aren't new. They have been spinning out of control for the last two decades and if we don't start a trend in a better direction, we will be killing off so many of our young, we will be left a world of wrinkled old people with no new blood to carry life on.

47 Million And Counting

It goes beyond all comprehension that we live in the most excessive country in the world where more isn’t good enough and yet, we don’t have a healthcare system that works for everyone. Forty-seven million people are without health insurance. And thousands are filing bankruptcy because they can no longer afford it. It gives you pause, doesn’t it?

If you’re one of those hoping and praying for eternal health and wellness only because you don’t have health insurance to take care of you if you got sick, then you know what I’m talking about.

It’s been 15 years since Hillary Clinton initiated a plan for universal health coverage. Remember how she was virtually run out of town…err, rather run out of the White House…for proposing such an unwelcomed idea for taking care of people who can’t take care of themselves? Yet, here we are mid-way through 2009 in no better shape than we were in 1993. We’re still listening to the rhetoric that we’ve heard over and over and over again and there’s with no apparent solution in close sight.

So what do we do? Do we write our congressmen? Do we march on Washington? Do we stand in the Capitol rotunda and jump up and down and flap our arms? WHAT DO WE DO? What is going to keep us from getting sick since health insurance is rapidly evaporating for the middle class in an economy proving to be shear torture. I’ll tell you what we do. Regis, Kelly, Swine Flu and You

On the lighter side,…this morning I was watching 'Regis and Kelly.' I don't watch morning TV all the time, but this morning was a slow moving one because I was recovering from the previous day's afternoon spent in the dentist's chair. These slower starts are a plus since I'm an information junkie. They give me an opportunity to learn something I might otherwise miss. This morning was one of those kinds of mornings.

Regis Philbin who just happens to be one of the oldest and healthiest septuagenarians on television, and Kelly Rippa, his positively positive sidekick, were interviewing a doctor talking about Swine Flu–how you get it and how you can prevent it. The doctor, decked out in his white coat and looking like he had just ran to the set from central casting, was on the money when he said that anyone within 6 feet of an unprotected sneeze from someone with the flu would be sure to get it.Now don't let this scare you. The Swine Flu has turned out to be comparable to an ordinary, mid-grade flu threat. Not to minimize it, but according to the New York Times, the only people who have died have been those who had a predisposed condition that presented complications leading to death. Nevertheless, care of self is the name of the game.

So let me help you out with a few precautions you can do to protect yourself from H1N1 flu otherwise known as Swine.

• Stay away from sick people.

• Wash your hands often throughout the day.

• Cover not just your mouth, but nose AND mouth when you sneeze.'

• If you are around someone sneezing, be sure to cover your own mouth, nose AND eyes. These are all openings where germs and virus' enter the body.

• Cover nose and mouth with a tissue and if that's not possible put your nose and mouth into your elbow when sneezing. Don't use your hands because when touching someone or some thing, you'll spread germs.

Moms, Babies and Kangen Water™

Pregnancy is a time of joy and anticipation. It’s also a time of toxicity. Baby is constantly fed and nourished with alkaline minerals from Mommy.
