Showtime is the newest show in kapamilya network. It's a pure fun and entertainment program that allows ordinary group of people to be on stage and do a group performance in any way they would like to. These group can sing, dance, do a circus, perform magic, a comical skit and just about anything a group can possibly do. This is a contest, by the way. So three contestants will be vying for the 50,000.00 PHP.

Showtime is a cool entertainment show to watch in the morning. It's a refreshing diversion from the usual celebrity performances we see hourly on TV, especially that they can do just about anything in this kapamilya show. The concept is not too new since we get to see Talentadong Pinoy in TV5 and Britain Got Talent.

The disadvantage in this show is stamped on the contestants actually. According to my two-day observation, the comic and funny the performance is the better the score you get from the judges. But, if the group is doing a serious dance or song performace, they have got to be doing it really great in choreography and costumes where theycan make the judges jaw drop or their facial expression impressed enough, if not immensely. Otherwise they will just get the mediocre comment ang grade, not to mention the outrageous bashing of Vice Ganda.

The design and set up of the stage is not so great. I find it too bland and it the total appeal. In other words, the set up of the stage doesn't give much impact to our viewing experience. The audience layout has some good touches but still lacks a little bit of organization, unlike the one we see in Wowowee, ASAP and 1 versus 100.

I alos don't like the set of judges. Amy Perez and Rico J. Puno are both toos serious judges. One one should be there. Who the heck's idea is to include Marc Abaya in the panel of judges? He doesn't have the flair. Ayana should stay for the sole reason that she's sweet. The show needs a sweet judge. And, oh yes! Vice Ganda is a perfect choice. The judges would look seem invisible and worthless without him...err...her. Hosts Anne Curtis and Vhong Navarro are great as usual. I love them!

Showtime is co-hosted by Kuya Kim Atienza and Teddy Casiño of Rocksteady band. Showtime airs Mondays to Saturdays right before Wowowee.

Double Addiction: PBB Double Up

After watching seasons 1 and 2 of Pinoy Big Brother, I must say that this is the most exciting regular season they have so far. Apart from the apparent two houses, the thrilling tasks and the awesome selection of housemates make PBB a more exciting viewing pleasure.

I say thrilling because the two twins' task was extremely difficult to begin with (miss the lagumbay twins and melai-toffiffi loveteam), the Rob-Rica task was an extreme challenge for Rob (remember Rob is a straight guy and Rica is a transexual woman who still sounds and looks gay), and the pretend marital task was a very discomforting situation for Patrick, Jimson and Kath (Patrick who has a family outside had to pretend as the husband of Kath whose real husband is Jimson).
And, I say great selection of housemates because there was not only a set of twins but rather two sets of twins. How cool is that! (I was actually saddened bu their forced eviction). Then we have conservative Carol who is now gradually coming our of her shell (she's such a sweet girl especially when she massaged Patrick's hands while doing a sacrificial task in exchange to their failed pretend marital task). We also have the married couple. Now, how a married couple act and perform inside Big Brother's house is an exciting event to keep tab with. The inclusion of transgender Rica would also measure how ready the Filipinos are to welcome this kind of orientation. And of course, the hillarious Melissa a.k.a. Melay makes PBB Double Up the most lovable season to date. What with her natural comedic flair and outrageous quips and antics. She is absolutely the spirit of season 3. To borrow Bianca's expression again and again, I LOVE HER SO SO MUCH!

I'd like to congratulate my favorite PBB Celebrity Edition 1 housemate, Bianca Gonzales, for doing an awesome job hosting Pinoy Big Brother Double UpLATE.

Honestly, I was at first a little bit weary when I learned that Bianca is replacing Mariel Rodriguez as PBB Uplate host (Bianca hosted the Uber of Pinoy Dream Academy's first season and PBB and PDA updates) since she is more of a sobersided host. Yet, I'm glad to see her do an enthusiastic hosting while being funnily cute. Her bubbly aura and pretty countenance most certainly keep the early daybreak viewers awake until the end of the show.

KUDOS Bianca! (To borrow your expression) I love you SO SO much!

Uber Marielism

Once again, Mariel Rodriguez is not hosting Pinoy Big Brother Uplate this season rather the PBB Double Up Uber. But, as always, wherever you put her, it's certainly a fun viewing experience. There is this certain Marielism character and demeanor that just make you love her, not to mention her Uber pretty face.

The Jericho-Kristine tandem doesn't have as much chemistry as it had before but TV viewers will surely get hook up with the tandem's newest drama series.

The team up is no longer the important factor in this series. But rather the powerful weaving of the story and the premiere acting prowess of the stellar casts. The comeback of the perennial movie awards winner, Lorna Tolentino, to ABS-CBN's primetime is something to look forward to during weeknights. Who would have forgotten here brilliant performance as Red Butterfly in Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay? And she's once again flaunting her flawless brilliance in acting; now with a different yet remarkable persona of character. So we can be assured of that this is going to be a stellar primetime experience.

How the plot of the story will develop and unfold is not too predictable. Hence, we must not miss the nightly episodes so we can follow the weave of the story.

Characters of the drama series are played by Jericho Rosales, Kristine Hermosa, Lorna Tolentino, Gabby Concepcion, Chin-chin Guttierez, Karylle, John Estrada and Sid Lucero among others. Agamit Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla presents Tiagong Akyat

When Agamit Ang Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla started airing on commercials, I initially thought that it would be a fantastic series because the lead roles are portrayed by four of the hottest young male actors today: Gerald Anderson, Jake Cuenca, Coco Martin and Jolo Revilla. Sadly, my enthusiasm abruptly doused when they explained that each star will play a different character in separate stories.

The trailer of Tiagong Akyat wasn't so impressive and inviting; but I watched it anyway. As expected, there wasn't any new substance in the story; the plot is too trite. The framing up of Tiago as the killer of his lover's dad is so passe. Even the comic prowess and ability of Nova Villa and Jayson Gainza couldn't be the show's saving grace. Not to mention Gerald and Erich are an unlikely pair. I just can't feel even a tiny bit of chemistry between them. Sorry to their fans (It's not you, it's me. LOL!) Plus, why in the world id they give Jason Abalos an antagonistic role? Jason doesn't look like a villain for crying out loud!

The second episode, however, was a million times better than the pilot episode. The marriage of Erich and Jason's characters is an interesting point of the plot, and the action scenes inside the jail are awesome. Plus, the most anticipated agimat (amulet) will now be in the hands of Tiago. Having said that, it's safe to say that the next few episodes will most probably be exciting and worth watching.

Originally played by Dina Bonnevie on the big screen, the newest Primetime series, Katorse, in ABS-CBN is topbilled by Star Circle Quest season two Grand Questor, Erich Gonzales.

The story revolves around the life of a 14-year-old girl named nene, who fell in love with a boy and became a young mother. As she faces the adversities in life brought by her innocent decisions, she will rise against them and prove to everyone who deters her that she can prove her worth and that love is worth fighting for.

The first week of it's airing on Primetime was tremendous success, according to entertainment news. It's rating soared twice higher that it's rival show in the competing network. And honestly, the storylines and acting are really credible and intense. It's also refreshing to see both Cherie Gil and Gardo Versoza playing a wealthy couple yet with laidback characters -far from their usual roles of evil-rich parents. The introduction of fresh actors Xian Lim and Ejay Falcon, Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus Big Winner, including Enchong Dee is definitely an interesting point in the TV series. It will make you wonder among these teen stars will be truly big in show business.

It may have not been a sudden stardom for Erich and Ejay, but this series could be their ticket to it.
