Iza Calzado Now a Certified Kapamilya

Actress Iza Calzado is now a certified Kapamilya.

On Tuesday afternoon, Calzado signed a three-year-contract with ABS-CBN.

Present during the signing were ABS-CBN executives including the network's president Charo Santos-Concio.

"Una sa lahat, I'm grateful for all the opportunity that GMA-7 has given me for almost 10 years. But, I just think that this is time for me to grow, to evolve, to learn. I think it's just a matter of timing and I've always wanted to work again with people from Channel 2. Kasi noong nag-Star Cinema ako for 'Milan' sabi ko one day I'm sure I will work with them again. I guess this is just the way it works. It's just a business and at some point we will make a certain decision and hopefully without burning bridges," Calzado said.

The actress admitted that it was a hard decision for her to move to ABS-CBN, explaining that she will really miss people she worked with, including Eat Bulaga's main hosts Joey de Leon, Vic Sotto and Senator Tito Sotto.

"Isa sa pinakamahirap na desisyon sa akin na iwanan ang Eat Bulaga. You can never understand what it is like unless you were part of that family. Napakabait nila and it takes a certain personality to jell with them and I was fortunate enough to have that kind of personality and they are very fun kaya lang I really need to do this. I'm sure maiintindihan nila," she said.

According to Calzado, included in her contract are a television series and reality show. She is also set to do a film.

"What I am allowed to disclose at this very moment is mayroon po akong drama show at magkakaroon ako ng reality TV show. Hindi naman ito tungkol sa buhay ko, kaya huwag kayong mag-alala di niyo ako susundan sa bahay ko," she said.

According to speculations, Calzado is being eyed to host the second season of "Pinoy Biggest Loser," replacing Sharon Cuneta.

In the interview, Calzado said she would like to do a project with actors Piolo Pascual and John Lloyd Cruz.

"So far gusto kong makasama ulit si Piolo, gusto ko siyang makasama di lang dahil sa crush ko siya kung di nakasama ko na siya sa 'Milan.' Gusto ko ding makasama si John Lloyd and I know that soon, I think, I will be working with him and, of course, Jericho Rosales and a lot like the younger ones like Gerald Anderson. I'm not saying that I wanna work with them because I wanna paired up with them, not necessarily. I really wanna work with people and I want to see what they're like."

"Sa (female stars) I would like to work with Judai (Judy Ann Santos). I want to work with Bea (Alonzo) who established a very good reputation as far as acting is concerned. Si Angelica Panganiban is a very strong character and a very strong actress as well. Si Karylle and Jodi Sta. Maria, I really want to work with them," she said.

She also said that as a new Kapamilya star, she's now ready to face tougher competition.

"At the end of the day it (competition) serves as a motivation and challenge but I'm not going to take anyone's place. I would like to make my own space and fill up a certain niche that maybe only I can fill," she said.

ABS-CBN's newest show, the Korean action-drama "City Hunter," landed on the top of local trending topics of microblogging site Twitter on Tuesday, hours after its first episode aired on ABS-CBN.

The hashtag #City Hunter was at No. 9 on the list as of 9:10 a.m..

On Twitter, Pinoy netizens can't help but shar their excitement and applauded the show's story.

"i enjoyed City Hunter's Pilot episode last night... can't w8 2 see d nxt episode later tonight... <3," Nef Angeles-Tamargo tweeted.

"Philippines Trending: City Hunter -- ang lupet kase ng pilot episode.. @dabestang2012," user jerome adel said.

"city hunter is so nice..ang gwapo ni Lee Min Ho. Astig!," netizen jul_ping added.

Topbilled by Lee Min Ho of "Boys over Flowers," "The City Hunter" tells the story of Johnny Lee (Min Ho), a charming and smart young man who works at the Presidential residence.

But behind his pleasing personality lies a son trained to kill and seek revenge for his father. His mission is to make five politicians responsible for killing his father pay with their own lives.

Despite being a skilled assassin, the task wouldn’t be that easy for Johnny because he has to follow three rules on his mission — he can't trust anyone, he can't reveal his true identity, and he can't fall in love. Despite TV5’s move of pirating big Kapamilya stars like Sharon Cuneta and Aga Muhlach, ABS-CBN still reigns as they offer the grandest and the biggest shows this 2012. Starting with the epic love story inspired by the classic “Wuthering Heights”, “Walang Hanggan” premiered last week, January 16 and ruled the national TV ratings.
Based on the latest data of Kantar Media/TNS, the show's pilot episode registered a 32.1% ratings nationwide beating GMA7's "Legacy" with 16.8% TV5's "Glamorosa" which only got 4.9%. Topbilled by Coco Martin and Julia Montes, "Walang Hanggan" tells the story of true love bound to last forever. Included in the powerhouse cast are the queens of Philippine cinema Susan Roces and Helen Gamboa, former sweethearts Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta, Rita Avila, Melissa Ricks, Joem Bascon and Paulo Avelino. Directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng and Trina Dayrit, "Walang Hanggan" is a love story that spans three generations.

Only Agot Isidro from the original cast will return on the series.

Reality shows Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition, Master Chef Pinoy Edition and Pinoy Biggest Loser Doubles are also on the slate this 2012. Kapamilya Deal or No Deal will return with new host Luis Manzano while KC Concepcion will host The X-Factor Philippines. ABS-CBN again proves that is the first and true home of Asianovelas by bringing the most expensive Koreanovela, “City Hunter” to Primetime Bida beginning this Monday, January 23. “Boys Over Flowers” star Lee Min Ho returns to ABS-CBN in this story of love and revenge. Heartstrings Premieres This Monday on Kapamilya Gold

He's Beautiful's Jung Yong Hwa and Park Shin Hye return on ABS-CBN this Monday via the new Koreanovela “Heartstrings” (also known as Festival and You’ve Fallen for Me).

In the series, Jung Yong Hwa plays Lee Shin, a university student majoring in Western Music. He is also the vocalist and guitarist of the band “The Stupid.” Shin is known for his good looks, cocky personality, and strong passion for music. Everyone sees him as a cold-hearted person, but he’s actually soft inside. He lacks interest in anything unrelated to music and has neither dreams nor plans for the future. He initially likes Jung Yoon Soo, a dance professor at the university, but this all changes when he meets Lee Gyu Won.

On the other hand , Park Shin Hye is Lee Kyu Won, a bright and outgoing student who was born into a prestigious family and is majoring in Traditional Korean Music, her instrument being the gayageum. Gyu Won’s grandfather, Lee Dong Gun, is one of the top 3 traditional musicians of his age and his biggest wish is to see his granddaughter become a traditional music prodigy. Trying to live up to her grandfather’s expectations, Gyu Won immerses herself in practising and becomes a university student who knows nothing much outside of her studies. As her friends are fans of “The Stupid”, she was forced to go to the band’s concert with them. There she saw Lee Shin performing live, and is immediately captivated by him.

Coco Martin Works Hard on His Upcoming Teleserye

Isa si Coco Martin sa mga naging maganda ang takbo ng karera sa taong ito. Sa mga pagbida niya sa mga teleserye at isa sa mga pagiging endorser niya, tunay ngang nagningning din ang kanyang bituin sa taong 2011.

At sa pagpasok ng 2012, isa sa mga inaabangan ay ang teleseryeng Walang Hanggan na pinagbibidahan ng mga malalaking artista tulad nina Richard Gomez, Dawn Zulueta, Helen Gamboa at Susan Roces. Inaantabayanan din dito ang bagong tambalan nina Coco at Julia Montes.

Bago sa mga manonood ang tambalan nila kaya nang matanong kung ano ang mga paghahandang ginagawa ni Coco sa serye at sa kanilang tambalan ni Julia, ang sagot niya, “Wala namang matinding preparation basta ang ginawa ko lang, manood ng manood ng manood ng love story na movie and sabi ko nga sa iyo panibagong challenge ito dahil first time kong gagawa ng full love story na soap opera.”

Erich Gonzales Talks About Upcoming Movie with Thai Superstar Mario Maurer

Erich Gonzales couldn’t contain her excitement about her upcoming movie with Thai superstar Mario Maurer. She told Push.com.ph, “Tuloy na tuloy na po talaga siya. Next year na po siya magsa-start. Kumbaga tatapusin ko na lang po yung Maria la del Barrio and mag-Star Magic Tour lang po kami tapos magsho-shoot na po kami ng movie.”

In Mario’s recent interview during a repeat fashion for Penshoppe, he revealed that he already read the script for the movie and is excited as well. Push asked Erich if she also had the chance to read the script as well and talk about it with Mario. “Nung first meeting po namin parang naging storycon na rin siya sa aming dalawa kasi nandun na rin yung writers at inexplain sa amin yung story, yung tatakbuhin, kung saan kaming dalawa galing. Sobrang nakakaexcite at ang ganda po talaga ng story.”

Push also asked Erich about what fans can expect with the Thai superstar’s first movie in the Philippines and their awaited team-up. “Kasi po yung story po kwento siya ng dalawang tao na na may mga pinagdaanang ‘di maganda tapos nag-meet sila, kumbaga natagpuan nila ang isa’t isa tapos kumbaga ano ang pipiliin mo: yung taong mahal mo o yung pangarap mo.”

How would this movie be different from her other movies and those made in the Philippines that had foreign collaborations as well? “Kakaiba dahil po siguro unang-una kasi yung leading man ko Asian heartthrob tapos isho-shoot siya sa Thailand tapos dito din po. I know it’s going to be fun kasi si Direk Rory (Quintos) ang magdidirect.”

She also described Mario whom she first met over a dinner with executives from the film. “Alam kong magiging successful ang trabaho namin dahil napaka-nice niya, napaka-gentleman niya and marami kaming things in common and kumbaga alam kong magiging maganda yung trabaho namin.”

Push also asked the Maria la del Barrio star her opinion on how would fans of her tandem with Enchong Dee would react to her new team-up. “Kasi po sobrang blessed ako dahil yung mga supporters ko, mga supporters namin open sila talaga kumbaga kahit yung mga individual projects namin sinusuportahan po nila from the beginning kaya alam kong walang magiging problema kumbaga kahit nga tinatanong na nila kung ano yung block screening, super excited din po sila.”

Since some fans are already hoping for an off-screen hook-up, Erich also tackled the issue of developing a romance with Mario who already has a girlfriend. “Katulad ng laging sinasabi mo ‘di naman kailangang magka-in love-an ang dalawang magkatrabaho. Basta maganda ang story, maganda ang project susuportahan po yan ng mga tao at ayaw ko po ng gimik na magpe-pretend na uy kailangan nagdadate tayo or kailangan nagkaka-inlove-an tayo ganyan kasi po naniniwala kami sa project and I know na magiging okay po ito.”

Matteo Guidicelli's New Year's Resolution

Actor Matteo Guidicelli finally revealed his New Year’s resolution for 2012: to learn how to prioritize things.

In an interview with abs-cbnnews.com, Guidicelli said that he tends to forget things because of his busy schedule.

“I guess to learn how to prioritize things more. Kasi minsan parang hindi ako marunong mag-prioritize work, family and everything (parang) gulong gulo siya. I want to prioritize things properly,” Guidicelli said.

He added that he easily gets distracted with the things he wants to do.

The “Happy Yipee Yehey” co-host said he really wants to concentrate on his work in 2012.

“I would like to concentrate 100% sa trabaho ko," he said.

Asked if he will be more open when it comes to his love life, the actor replied: “Open naman talaga ako. If you know me, you will know everything about me. I don’t hide things.”

Right now, Guidicelli said his relationship with girlfriend Maja Salvador is more than okay.

“Good. Very good. May movie kami ni Maja lalabas sa January," he said.

Actress Cristine Reyes is sad she was not able to say goodbye to her friend, late actor Tyron Perez.

Reyes and Perez were both contestants in GMA-7’s reality talent show “Starstruck” in 2003.

In her official Twitter account, Reyes said: “gusto kong puntahan ang kapatid ko ngayon na i-release niyo na ako! bago ako umalis! para niyo ng awa!”

“Rushing to airport! won't be able to see & say my last goodbye to u kapatid,” Reyes added.

The actress also retweeted photos of her and Perez and the rest of their “Starstruck” batchmates.

“@tyronperez RIP Kapatid. ang saya saya lang natin sa bahay mo nila @jadehanzel at @chrisesteban24 sana tinawagan mo na lang kami kapatid.:'(“ Reyes said.

Perez died in an apparent suicide Thursday night.

Basta I’m thankful to God, my family, friends, fans, and to the media people who help us sa pag-promote ng mga ginagawa namin. Several celebrities and fans expressed grief over the sudden death of actor Tyron Perez Thursday night.

Just a few minutes after news broke out that the 26-year-old actor was found dead inside a car in Valenzuela City, posts of grief and disbelief flooded the microblogging site Twitter.

As of 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, “Tyrone Perez” was the top Twitter trending topic in the Philippines.

Aside from his fans, Perez’s friends from the entertainment industry also expressed their sorrow over the actor's passing.

Comedienne K Brosas tweeted, “Oh my....RIP tyrone perez, naka trabaho ko sha sa indie film na metlogs....kami magka eksena lagi kc jowa ko sha sa film. Bait nya! sad :(“

“It's in my timeline: RIP Tyrone Perez. So young,” television host Christine Bersola-Babao posted.

Bidding his last goodbye to his “Mula sa Puso” co-star, actor JM Guzman tweeted, “Tyrone ingat.”

Perez’s most recent television series project was ABS-CBN’s “Mula sa Puso.”

Last December 3, he appeared in an episode of “Maalaala Mo Kaya.”

Perez was first known as a contestant in a talent reality show in 2003.

Tyron Perez Wanted to Quit Showbiz Before Death

Actor Tyron Perez, who was found dead in Valenzuela City on Thursday evening, wanted to quit showbiz to be with his wife.

On Thursday night's "Bandila", co-anchor Boy Abunda said Perez told film director and Gerry Sineneng, who was his co-manager, of his plan to move to the United States to be with wife Liv, a flight attendant.

“Sabi niya ‘Direk parang gusto ko ng mag-quit sa showbiz. Ako ay pupunta sa America at susundan ko ang asawa ko doon'. A week ago, direk Gerry wanted to get in touch with him because there’s TV guesting that he wants to fix pero hindi na ma-contact si Tyron,” Abunda said.

Perez, whose real name is Jojo Malonzo Perez, has been staying at the house of his friend Priscilla Salazar because he and his wife were having problems.

"Basta ang alam ko lang may problema siya pero hindi niya masyadong dini-detalye, ano siya hindi masyadong madaldal," Salazar said.

His wife Liv said it was just normal for any relationship to undergo trials but she did not expect it to end this way. Liv, along with Perez’s parents and relatives, were at the funeral.

She said they were even together last December 26, and Perez even called her before he died.

"Parang nahulog na phone. Narinig ko lang siya. Nag-struggle siya huminga. Nahulog na yung phone, hello ako ng hello wala na," Liv said.

Reports indicated that residents of Barangay Ugong, Valenzuela City noticed a car with plate #ZSP-875 at the side of the road as early as 8 a.m. on Thursday.

Thinking it was only parked, they did not bother to check on the car. The residents, however, got curious when they noticed that the car was still parked by nighttime so they finally called the authorities.

Inside the car was Perez, who was lying on the backseat, bloodied and lifeless.

Perez, who was last seen in the ABS-CBN television series “Mula sa Puso,” died on the spot after sustaining a gunshot wound on his right temple.

Based on the initial investigation, Perez most likely committed suicide.

"Sa cross examination ng ating SOCO may gunshot wound sa right temple isa lang," said Police Senior Inspector Arturo Quinones of the Valenzuela PNP.

The police will run a ballistics exam on the gun, while the actor’s cellphone will undergo a forensics exam at Camp Crame.

Meawhile, ABS-CBN's talent management outfit released official statement over the death of Perez.

"Our deepest condolences to the family of Tyron. Let's pray for the eternal repose of his soul."

The Star Magic management sent their deepest condolences to the family of their talent, late actor Tyron Perez.

In a statement, Star Magic said: "Our deepest condolences to the family of Tyron. Let's pray for the eternal repose of his soul."

Perez was found dead inside a vehicle in Valenzuela City Thursday night.

Authorities said Perez’s body was found at the backseat of a black Toyota Altis parked along the service road of the North Luzon Expressway in the vicinity of Barangay Ugong, Valenzuela.

Police said Perez died of a gunshot wound on his right temple from a caliber .22 firearm.

The gun was found beside the victim's body.

Perez, 26, entered the show business when he joined GMA-7’s reality talent show “Starstruck” in 2003.

He then joined ABS-CBN and was recently a part of the hit television drama series, “Mula sa Puso.”

Actor Tyron Perez was found dead inside a vehicle in Valenzuela City Thursday night, police said.

According to Senior Superintendent Wilben Mayor, Perez’s body was found dead at the backseat of a black Toyota Altis parked along the service road of the North Luzon Expressway in the vicinity of Barangay Ugong, Valenzuela.

Police said Perez died of a gunshot wound on the right side of his head from a caliber .22 firearm.

The gun was found beside the victim's body.

Police said they are looking at the possibility that the wound may have been self-inflicted. Investigations are still ongoing.

Perez, 26, first stepped into the limelight when he joined a television network’s reality talent show in 2003.

He was recently a part of the defunct ABS-CBN television drama series, “Mula sa Puso.”
