I could have asked for a better sunrise, however.

But we had a blast with his Ska8er Boy theme. With daddy’s hat and skateboard. Just precious. And boy was he a sweet one. Loved it! I could have posted 20 sneaks of him.

Two weeks ago, I found a pea-sized lump under my arm. My mom had breast cancer at 49, dad had prostate cancer, and some other family history of cancer. So we don’t take things like this too lightly.

So I made an appointment to go in. No big deal. And the General practice doctor was not concerned. She suggested an ultrasound. Just to be sure. The thing that bothered me, was that I had been asking for a mammogram since I was 20. All of my OBGYNs had said that I didn’t need one until I was 40.

Back to this week… Lots of worry and stress later, I was scheduled for an ultrasound of both breasts and my underarm for Thursday. Evidently ultrasounds are better for younger ladies. However, when I got there, they informed me that since I had not had a mammogram, I needed one of those first. Surprise!

So I had the pleasure of having my first mammogram. And it was a pleasure. Boobs still hurt.

Evidently, God had a bigger plan in this all. My little pea sized bump was just a lymph node. Totally normal. But during the mammogram, I could hear them measuring things. I have learned the noises of different things during ultrasounds and such. And I could tell she was not doing the normal photos. And I knew that this process should not take 3 hours.

Long story, short. My little pea lead them to find a mass in one of my breasts. So far it is benign and they are just going to watch it every 3 months. But wow.

When your intuition tells you that you need to do something, follow through! I knew that I should be having mammograms all along. Come to find out from Memorial Herman Breast center, women should start having mammograms every year at 35. If you have a family history of cancer, then you need to start 10 years earlier. Can you believe that? Why is that not publicized more? 25 that is amazing.

I’ve been trying to determine if I was even going to talk about this. Because it really isn’t a big deal. But I can’t let it go. I feel like I need to let people know that you need to start getting tested every year, even if you don’t think you need to. I’m only 35. Who would think?

So please, no matter what your age, go and get your mammogram. It could save your life.

Happy Birthday, sweet girl!

I absolutely LOVE sunrise sessions. There is nothing better than seeing the sun rise is a beautiful location while taking gorgeous images of children or a family. Bliss.

So this morning was perfect. A bit chilly, but I will take it, as I know soon, I will be sweating to death.

The girls were awake and enjoying the field, so we were good to go! Check out some of the outcome.
