Washington, DC is a city brimming with young professionals driven by a desire to achieve, lead and make an impact. The organizers of Karaoke for a Cause represent a diverse cross-section of DC’s young professionals. We come from the star studded West Coast, the conservative Ivy League, the raucous fraternity scene, the sophisticated sorority halls, the nonprofit sector and the lobbying firms, with one singular special interest: Giving. A few years ago, a few friends were tasked with finding over 100 Christmas gifts for children at a local non-profit organization who were poised to have none. Within 24 hours, the friends pooled resources, connections and holiday budgets that had already been stretched tight to create a Christmas miracle. Since then, they decided to keep the giving tradition alive, but with a unique party theme: Karaoke. Last year, attendees of Karaoke 4 A Cause placed over 300 gifts underneath a tree, that seemed to grow smaller and smaller by the minute.

This year Smith Public Trust will serve as the host of Karaoke 4 A Cause – 2016. SPT is located in the heart of Brookland at 3514 12th St NE, Washington, DC 20017.  The restaurant and progressive space is home to unique charity events and has a private bar space, a live performance stage & an outdoor patio. In addition to providing a space well-suited for karaoke, drinks and fun, SPT will contribute to our giving by providing drink specials, marketing opportunities for the event, and comprehensive support.   SPT is metro accessible, one block from CUA/Brookland Metro on the RED line.

Every holiday season, there are parties, soirees, and celebrations.  Glasses are clinked, a mistletoe is dodged, family is reunited, and for most folks… gifts are exchanged.  Karaoke for a Cause is dedicated to continuing the tradition of fun holiday gatherings with friends and colleagues.  We simply believe that instead of splurging on each other, giving to others is a true celebration of the holiday season.  You bring a toy and we bring the party.We laugh, sometimes flirtatiously, sometimes loudly.
