We had some great performances this week. They came in from Germany, Florida, New York, Ohio, new Jersey, Texas and California. They ranged in ages from 21 to 64, with professions like computer store manager, school teacher and DJ. There were a slew of gender-benders as well, performers singing songs originaly sung by the opposite sex. Show #2 - Our first REAL show!

We did it! Our first REAL show! Thanks for your patience, it took a while to work through the maze of licencing issues we podcasters have to deal with if we want to play "main stream" music. A big thank you goes out to all those who helped get this off the ground (BMI, ASCAP, SESAC, Harry Fox Agency), gave advice and helped the podcasting community in general with this like Brian Ibbott, the host of Coverville.

There were so many great songs to choose from, it was hard to narrow it down. But in the end songs were chosen that reflected what this podcast is all about; honoring and applauding Karaoke singers, good and "bad" by playing spirited performances, not necessarily technically perfect or "talented" ones. The show runs for just over 30 minutes, which might be a bit long - we'll see if it needs to be shorter...

We had submissions from Tennessee, Alabama, California, Canada and England from singers aged 25 to 57. They come from all walks of life, including an accountant, a paramedic and a councelor. Some of their comments and stories are as compelling as the songs they sing!

The First Show - A Pod Casting-Call

OK, welcome to the first Karaoke Countdown show, where we count down the top 10 karaoke songs from worst to best. Basically, there's no show yet, this is a casting call to get you or your friends to send me your performances. You're the star here, not me.

If you, or someone you know, wants to be on the show, just send me an mp3 of a Karaoke song performance - please, no originals or bands doing covers - to karaokecountdown@yahoo.com. You'll have the best shot if the song is recognizable, but sung with spirit. It can be really good, really bad or just plain different - don't be shy, this is your shot at 5 minutes of world wide fame...or, well embarrassment, but who cares, you can be anonymous, give me any info you want to share about yourself, or not...whatever! When I get 10 goodies, I'll post...stay tuned!
