This "Canada Video" was sent to us by what could be the most creative family fishing trip group that we've ever had stay at one of our Outpost Cabins! They sure look like the whole family had a great time making this Rap Video of their fishing trip to Canada! Check it out:

Loganberry is where we'll be
Flying here straight with Kashabowie Outposts

With our friend Fern this place is tight
You can get yourself here in half an hour flight

This lake is great and the cabin is kickin'

This place is the best and we wish we could stay
eat sleep and fish, every single day.

The weather is perfect, not to hot or cold

You can swim if you want, but it's a little chilly

Where my momma lets my beard, grow out long,

Where I don't need to stay and clean my dish
Instead I get to go out and catch a fish

It's Canada, that's where we are

but deep inside is the big walleye

Sleeping on the bed is nice and comfy

No other places have showers this nice

This cabin is bombin' I don't really mean to diss

Best fishing techniques for spring walleye in Canada

We are half way through our 2010 fishing season and would like to thank our guests and share some of their fantastic photo's. We always appreciate the great video's and photographs they send us.

Each year we have a photo contest for our guests, and the winner gets to go fishing on us during the next season. This contest is a challenge we enjoy each year. There are so many fantastic photo's it makes it difficult to pick the winner. Here are some of the great photo's we have accumulated over time.

Lake pictures are always great, there is no shortage of beautiful scenery in Northwestern Ontario.

Pictures with Aircraft in them score pretty high as well. Fishing or Boating pictures work well, like this shot at Wapikaimaski lake.

A shot including one of our outpost cabins is a sure bet. Like this unique shot out the front windows of Tommyhow lake

This is a great picture of C-FOCC departing with a canoe.

Different lake shots with varying weather conditions, can be interesting.

This is a real nice shot off the dock at Loganberry lake.

A shot that included one of the outpost cabins in it would be almost impossible to pass up as the winner.

Keep the pictures coming in, we love them all.

New Upgrades For The New Year

Some of the Loganberry crew on there way to do some Walleye fishing. They left Kashabowie Outposts this morning to start their fly in fishing trip. Loganberry is a fantastic Walleye and Northern lake that offers a full service cabin that can sleep 12. With hot and cold running water, Shower, dual fridges. There is also an ice house that gets filled each year depending on the ice and snow conditions.

This was one of the smoothest flights we have had this summer. It was 60 F at 5500 ft, a flight to remember.

We are very excited about the opening of fishing.

The water is low and with the early ice out and warm water temperatures the Walleye and Northern are going to be hitting hard. We have started opening our camps and have noticed very low water south of the base. We were at Loganberry lake and found the water to be at mid summer levels. The bush is very dry so having camp fires would be inadvisable even when there is no fire ban currently in effect. Bass fishing in fact all types of inland lake fishing should be Dynamite.

Each day that goes by gets some lucky Fishermen one day closer to winning the Kashabowie Outposts Win a Fishing Trip Contest

Smallmouth Bass tend to stick to open water. All you need is light to medium action spinning rods, I prefer a bait casting rig with a 6 foot medium action rod and 8 to 10 pound test. Fly fishermen can have a great time with Smallmouth. I'm not a fly fishermen but am interested in getting information about Bass fishing techniques with a fly rod.

In the spring Bass like most inland lake species will be in the shallow water, so top water baits, Chuggers and Poppers seem to be the way to go.

In the summer you can find these hard fighters on the edge of weed beds, under water islands, rocky points in deeper water. The lure to use is a 1/8 to 1/4 once jig with a twister tail, black,purple, amber, yellow and white. When its all said and done you can't beat live bait, Crawlers, Minnows, and leeches will fire up the laziest fish.

A fish locater will help you find the structure you want to try.

Set your trolling motor at a crawl and cast it towards shore bouncing your jig off the bottom as you search for your spot.

Once you locate the terrain you want to fish, drop the anchor and start pulling the Smallmouth in.

If your thinking of going on a flyin fishing trip, Northwestern Ontario is the place to go. Some of the things to consider are, how long is the drive? Are accommodations available at of near the Sea Plane base? Does the Outfitter have there own Air Service? Can they provide Bait?

What should I bring

Understanding the Fishing regulations for the zone your in is also important. No your limits and slot sizes. The Outfitter will generally talk with you about the local fishing rules and particulars for the lake you are flying into.

Springtime Northern Pike Fishing

After a long winter there is nothing better than getting back on the water. Spring Northern Pike fishing is a great time for the whole family! These hungry game fish provide alot of action - on almost any lure!

Springtime is an easy time to catch big Northern Pike! They have just finished spawning and tend to lay in shallow water. As the water warms up they will move off to the first structure they find. Working out from the shallows to the edge of weed beds or drop offs puts you in good position to catch big Northern.

What to Bring Northern Pike Fishing

The equipment and lures you would need to bring to catch lunker Northern are;

A medium to heavy action rod 7 foot with at least 25 pound test,
A leader is important to reduce the chance of a tooth or gill rake cutting your line.
A good bait casting reel or large spinning reel is paramount to winch in your trophy.

Some of the things I find that work well for Northern Pike bait are

Spoons,
Jerk baits,
Topwaters,
Spinner baits

In the spring, northern pike will bite on almost anything flashy and noisy!

You can always count on Northern Pike for a good fight, so dig in your heels and hang on tight!

Best fishing techniques for spring walleye in Canada

The best bet in early spring walleye is trolling, so bring minnows to put on a jig, spinner jig, or split-shot lures.

Spring is a great time to bring the family out and try simple techniques for spring walleye fishing from shore due to the walleye being in cold, shallow water, for example a river mouth.

Get hooked on the thrill of reeling in a 10 lb. Walleye!

As water temperatures warm in late spring and early summer of Canada, pack a spinner rig to use with minnows, worms and leeches, or crankbaits such as Shad Raps, Wally Divers, and Redfins does the trick. A good trolling motor is always a great help.

In the spring, select a 1/8 to 3/8 ounce jig with a soft plastic twister tail or shad bodies, marabou feathers or bucktail. Attach a minnow, worm or leech.
