When there is a conflict between the heart and the brain, let the heart be followed.
2. A man of intellect can turn into a devil, but never a man of heart.
3. Religion is not a theoretical need but a practical necessity.
4. Renunciation does not mean simply dispassion for the world. It means dispassion for
the world and also longing for God.
5. There is no misery where there is no want.
6. The secret of life is not enjoyment, but education through experience.
7. Every new thought must create opposition.
8. Renunciation is the withdrawal of mind from other things and concentrating it on God.
9. Every man who thinks ahead of his time is sure to be misunderstood.
10. In this short life there is no time for the exchange of compliments.
11. Do not wait to cross the river when the water has all run down.
12. The greatest sin is fear.
13. Better the scolding of the wise than the adulation of the fools.
14. If you love God's creation more than God, you will be disillusioned.
15. Everything can be sacrificed for truth, but truth can't be sacrificed for anything.
16. God has become man, man will become god again.
17. If it is impossible to attain perfection here and now, there is no proof that we can
attain perfection in any other life.
18. That part of the Vedas which agrees with reason is the Vedas, and nothing else.
19. If you want to do anything evil, do it before the eyes of your superiors.
20. Happiness presents itself before man, wearing the crown of sorrow on its head.
21. If one is a slave to his passions and desires, one cannot feel the pure joy of real
freedom.
22. If you can't attain salvation in this life, what proof is there that you can attain it in the
life or lives to come?
23. Never mind if your contribution is only a mite, your help only a little, blades of grass
united into a rope will hold in confinement the maddest of elephants.
24. The cow never tells a lie, and the stone never steals, but, nevertheless, the cow
remains a cow and the stone remains a stone. Man steals and man tells a lie, and again it
is man that becomes the god.
25. When even man never hears the cries of the fool, do you think God will?
26. Strength is life, weakness is death.
27. Never are the wants of a beggar fulfilled.
28. We want the education by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased,
the intellect is expanded, and by which one can stand on one's own feet.
29. Let the heart be opened first, and all else will follow of itself.
30. Tell the man his defaults directly but praise his virtues before others.
31. Activity is life and inactivity is death.
32. Salvation is not achieved by inactivity but by spiritual activities.
33. Even the least work done for others awakens the power within.
34. New things have to be learned, have to be introduced and worked out, but is that to
be done by sweeping away all that is old, just because it is old?
35. The man who says he has nothing more to learn is already at his last grasp
36. As long as I live, so do I learn.
37. No one can save a person who hires a carriage to go from one street to another, and
then complain of diabetes.
38. By the control of the subconscious mind you get control over the conscious.
39. It is the constant struggle against nature that constitutes human progress, not
conformity with it.
40. The very essence of education is concentration of mind, not the collecting of facts.
41. As we get further and further away from sense-pleasures, “knowledge for the sake of
knowledge” becomes the supreme pleasure of mind.
42. It is through the many that we reach the one.
43. The soul is the circle of which the circumference is nowhere, but the center is the
body. God is a circle whose circumference is nowhere, but whose center is everywhere.
44. The body itself is the biggest disease.
45. If any one of you believes what I teach, I will be sorry. I will only be too glad if I can
excite in you the power of thinking for yourselves.
46. When the world is the end and God the means to attain that end, that is material.
When God is the end and the world is only the means to attain that end, spirituality has
begun.
47. The fear of God is the beginning of religion, but the love of God is the end of religion.
48. Do not give up anything! Things will give you up.
49. The sage is often ignorant of physical science, because he reads the wrong bookthe
book within; and the scientist is too often ignorant of religion, because he reads the
wrong book- the book without.
50. Experience is the only source of knowledge.
51. Do one thing at a time and while doing it put your whole soul into it to the exclusion
of all else.
52. Where there is life, there will be death; so get away from life if you want to get rid of
death.
53. Records of great spiritual men of the past do us no good whatever except that they
urge us onward to do the same, to experience religion ourselves.
54. We may read all the Bibles of the world, but that will not give us religion.
55. The brave alone can afford to be sincere.
56. The balance is so nice that if you disturb the equilibrium of one atom, the whole
world will come to an end.
57. Save the spiritual store in your body by observing continence.
58. The wicked see in God wickedness. The virtuous see in Him virtue.
59. When good nectar is unattainable, it is no reason why we should eat poison.
60. Love to enemies is not possible for ordinary men.
61. Everything that comes from India take as true, until you cogent reasons for
disbelieving it. Everything that comes from Europe take as false, until you find cogent
reasons for believing it.
62. The benefit of Yoga is that we learn to control instead of being controlled.
63. Never talk about the faults of others, no matter how bad they may be.
64. All quarrels and disputations concerning religion simply show that religion is not
present.
65. You must not criticize others, you must criticize yourself.
66. What you have inside you is what you see in others.
67. Our business is to verify not to swallow.
68. How can that be loveless which causes love in me?
69. You cannot judge a man by his faults.
70. You must believe in yourself and then you will believe in God.
71. If you are pure, if you are strong, you, one man, is equal to the whole world.
72. Mother represents colorless love that knows no barter, love that never dies.
73. We trust the man in the street, but there is one being in the universe we never trust
and that is God.
74. My motto is to learn whatever good things I may come across anywhere.
75. The secret of religion lies not in theories but in practice.
76. Seek for the highest, aim at the highest, and you shall reach the highest.
77. There is an ocean of difference between idleness and renunciation.
78. The self-seeking man who is looking after personal comforts and leading a lazy life,
there is no room for him even in hell.
79. Hope is the greatest of all miseries, the highest bliss lies in giving up hope.
80. No one ever succeeded in keeping society in good humor and at the same time did
great works.
81. Know that talking ill of others in private is a sin.
82. This Atman is not to be attained by one who is weak.
83. Whatever fosters materiality is no work.
84. Why look up to men for approbation, look up to God.
85. He who knows how to obey knows how to command.
86. Want of sympathy and lack of energy are at the root of all misery.
87. India is the only place where, with all its faults, the soul finds its freedom, its God.
88. It is the heart that conquers, not the brain.
89. All the strength is in you, have faith in it.
90. The body must go no mistake about that. It is better to wear out than to rust out.
91. In every attempt there are many obstacles to cope with, but gradually the path
becomes smooth.
92. One must raise oneself by one's own exertions.
93. Both attachment and detachment perfectly developed make a man great and happy.
94. Where there is struggle, where there is rebellion, there is a sign of life, there
consciousness is manifested.
95. Isn't it man that makes money? Where did you ever hear of money making man?
96. He who always speculates as to what awaits him in future, accomplishes nothing
whatsoever.
97. Fear is one of the worst enemies.
98. If one intends to really find truth, one must not cling to comfort.
99. We manufacture our own heaven and can make a heaven even in hell.
100. The satisfaction of desire only increases it, as oil poured on fire makes it burn
more fiercely.
101. Both happiness and misery are chains, the one golden, the other iron; but both
are equally strong to bind us.
102. The world is neither true nor untrue, it is a shadow of truth.
103. Let us get rid of the little 'I' and let only the great 'I' live in us.
104. Concentration of the mind is the source of all knowledge.
105. Keep your thoughts on virtue; what we think we become.
106. What we are, we see outside, for the world is our mirror.
107. Resist not evil. Face it! You are higher than evil.
108. Anything we do ourselves, that is the only thing we do. -----
109. Be cautious now and do not bow, however sweet to chains.
110. Anything that brings spiritual, mental or physical weakness, touch it not with the
toes of your feet.
111. Everything that has selfishness for its basis, competition as its right hand, and
enjoyment as its goal, must die sooner or later.
112. This is a battlefield, fight your way out. Make your life a manifestation of will
strengthened by renunciation.
113. Be the witness, never learn to react.
114. The Hindus believe that a man is a soul and has a body, while Western people
believe he is a body and possesses a soul.
115. Of all the scriptures of the world, it is the Vedas alone which declare that the study
of the Vedas is secondary.
116. I find that whenever I have made a mistake in my life, it has always been because
self entered into the calculation.
117. Never forget that a man is made great and perfect as much by his faults as by his
virtues.
118. If a bad time comes, what of it? The pendulum must swing back to the other side.
But that is no better. The thing to do is to stop it.
119. This world is our friend when we are its slaves and no more.
120. Whatever others think or do, lower not your standard of purity, morality, and love of
God.
121. The road to the Good is the roughest and steepest in the universe. Character has
to be established through a thousand stumbles.
122. Eating, drinking, dressing, and society nonsense are not things to throw a life
upon.
123. He who is always afraid of loss always loses.
124. Any amount of theoretical knowledge one may have; but unless one does the
thing actually, nothing is learnt.
125. Don't yield to sorrow; everything is in God's hands.
126. In our moments of anguish, gates barred for ever seem to open and let in many a
flood of light.
127. Every bit of pleasure will bring its quota of pain, if not with compound interest.
128. If one gets one blow, one must return ten with redoubled fury, then only one is a
man.
129. Don't let egoism to enter your minds, and let love never depart from your hearts.
130. It is a land of dreams; it does not matter whether one enjoys or weeps; they are
but dreams, and as such, must break sooner or later.
131. He whose joy is only in himself, whose desires are only in himself, he has learned
his lessons.
132. I have worked for this world, Mary, all my life, and it does not give me a piece of
bread without taking a pound of flesh.
133. Devotion to the mother is the root of all welfare.
134. It is religion, the inquiry into the beyond, that makes the difference between man
and animal.
135. Dare to be free, dare to go as far as your thought leads, and dare to carry that out
in your life.
136. Every idea that strengthens you must be taken up and every thought that
weakens you must be rejected.
137. The same fire that cooks a meal for us may burn a child, and it is no fault of the fire
if it does so; the difference lies in the way in which it is used.
138. Whatever you think, that you will be.
139. The moment you quarrel, you are not going God ward, you are going backward,
towards the brutes.
140. First learn to obey, the command will come by itself.
141. If there is any sin in the world, it is weakness; avoid all weakness, for weakness is
sin, weakness is death.
142. In other countries great priests try to trace their descent to some king, but here the
greatest kings would trace their descent to some ancient priest.
143. We, as Vedantists, know for certain that there is no power in the universe to injure
us unless we first injure ourselves.
144. Faith, faith, faith in ourselves, faith, faith in God – this is the secret of greatness.
145. To have the ideal is one thing, and to apply it practically to the details of daily life
is quite another thing.
146. One ounce of practice is worth twenty thousand tons of big talk.
147. Let not your work produce results for you, and at the same time may you be never
without work.
148. Religion is not in books, nor in theories, nor in dogmas, nor in talking, not even in
reasoning. It is being and becoming.
149. This Atman is not to be reached by too much talk, no, not even by the highest
intellect, no, not even by the study of Vedas themselves.
150. Whoever has dared to touch our literature has felt the bondage, and is there bound
for ever.
151. If you have assimilated five ideas and made them your life and character, you
have more education than any man who has got by heart a whole library.
152. No good comes out of the man who day and night thinks he is nobody.
153. Follies there are, weakness there must be, but remember your real nature always
– that is the only way to cure the weakness, that is the only way to cure the follies.
154. Everything in this life is fraught with fear. It is renunciation alone that makes one
fearless.
155. The true man is he who is strong as strength itself and possesses a woman's
heart.
156. Verily, these three are rare to obtain and come only through the grace of God -
human birth, desire to obtain Moksha, and the company of the great-souled ones.
157. Why should you feel ashamed to take the name of Hindu, which is your greatest
and most glorious possession.
158. This religion is so great that even a little of it brings a great amount of good.
159. Don't believe what others say unless you yourselves know it to be true.
160. Rise at the expense of another? I did not come to earth for that.
161. Show your power by suffering.
162. Our misery comes, not from work, but by our getting attached to something.
163. The man who can't believe in himself, how can you expect him to believe in
anything else?
164. It is better to do something; never mind if it proves to be wrong; it is better than
doing nothing.
165. If we can't follow the ideal, let us confess our weakness, but not degrade it; let not
any try to pull it down.
166. If a man possesses everything that is under the sun and does not possess
spirituality, what avails it?
167. First form character, first earn spirituality and results will come of themselves.
168. If we sit down and lament over the imperfection of our bodies and minds, we profit
nothing; it is the heroic endeavor to subdue adverse circumstances that carries our spirit
upwards.
169. Truth, purity and unselfishness – wherever these are present, there is no power
below or above the sun to crush the possessor thereof.
170. No claim is made by the doer of great deeds, only by lazy worthless fools.
171. To know God is to become God.
172. Bring in the light; the darkness will vanish of itself.
173. Ours not to question why, ours but to do and die.
174. Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man. Religion is the
manifestation of the divinity already in man.
175. Conscious efforts lead the way to super-conscious illumination.
176. Who commits mistakes, the path of truth is attainable by him only.
177. He, the brave alone, can deny the self.
178. And if this Maya is so beautiful, think of the wondrous beauty of the Reality behind
it.
179. For one thing we may be grateful; this life is not eternal.
180. When the mind tries to think of anything else, give it a hard blow, so that it may
turn around and think of God.
181. If I am impure, that is also of my own making, and that very thing shows that I can
be pure if I will.
182. Stand and die in your own strength; if there is any sin in the world, it is weakness;
avoid all weakness, for weakness is sin, weakness is death.
183. I do not know whether I succeed or not, but it is a great thing to take up a grand
ideal in life and then give up one's whole life to it.
184. In the west, they are trying to solve the problem how much a man can possess,
and we are trying here to solve the problem on how little a man can live.
185. It is the change of the soul itself for the better that alone will cure the evils of the
world.
186. Teach yourself, teach every one his real nature, call upon the sleeping soul and
see how it awakes.
187. Power will come, glory will come, goodness will come, purity will come, and
everything that is excellent will come, when this sleeping soul is roused to self conscious
activity.
188. You have done well; only try to do better.
189. Work out the salvation of this land and of the whole world, each of you thinking
that the entire burden is on your shoulders.
190. Let not the fire die out.
191. Is it such a bad choice in this world to think, not of matter but of spirit, not of man
but of God?
192. If you attempt to get the secular knowledge without religion, I tell you plainly, vain
is your attempt.
193. Anything that makes you weak physically, intellectually, and spiritually, reject as
poison; there is no life in it; it cannot be true.
194. Love opens the most impossible gates; love is the gate to all the secrets of the
universe.
195. Never let curses rise on your lips.
196. Feel that you are great and you become great.
197. You can't help anyone, you can only serve: serve the children of the Lord, serve
the Lord himself, if you have the privilege.
198. The moment you fear you are nobody. It is fear that is the great cause of misery in
the world.
199. Struggle for that Grace.
200. If a man goes towards what is false; it is because he can't get what is true.
201. Knowledge is the finding of unity in diversity, and the highest point in every science
is reached when it finds the underlying unity in all variety.
202. Obey the scriptures until you are not strong enough to do without them.
203. Help, if you can; if you can't fold your hands and stand by and see things go on.
204. Until a man becomes a prophet, religion is a mockery.
205. Be not in despair; the way is very difficult, like walking on the blade of a razor. Yet
despair not; arise, awake, and find the ideal, the goal.
206. Death is better than a vegetating ignorant life; it is better to die on the battlefield
than to live a life of defeat.
207. When you find yourselves suffering, blame yourselves, and try to do better.
208. The highest direction is that which takes us to God; every other direction is lower.
209. Understand my words in their true spirit and apply yourselves to work in their light.
210. I want the why of everything. I leave the how to children.

కాటం. శ్రీనివాస్

AdWords system maintenance on July 12th

AdWords system maintenance on July 12th
On Saturday, July 12th, 2008 the AdWords system will be unavailable from approximately 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. PDT, for maintenance. You may wonder how something so small and slight could have an impact on your business, but the best way to compare this is to think about how important location is to an offline business? If you do not have a good location, you are likely not going to get many visitors. The same holds true for a good domain name as well.
Here, you will discover the six qualities that a good domain name must have to ensure maximum success.
1.) Memorable
A good domain name must be memorable. Yes, we have the option of bookmarking a site that we enjoy; however, the hard truth is that many people do not take advantage of bookmarking. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that your domain name is one that is easy to remember and makes an impact. It should be easy, memorable, and straight forward.

Avoid complexity and it is usually a good idea to avoid initials in most cases. The only exception to this rule would be if the letters represented the website name or business and was still easy to remember.
2.) Short and Sweet
Twenty characters is the maximum that you should use for a good domain name, ten is even better. A long and complicated domain name is not going to help you. Your best bet is to keep it short and sweet. A great domain name is less than ten characters; a good domain name is less than twenty characters. A bad domain name goes over twenty characters.
3.) Be Choosy On Your Extension
There are several domain extensions available to you such as .com, .net, .org, .tv, .info, .gov and so on. However, some of these work better than others and are more memorable at the same time. It is important to understand that some extensions also have restrictions such as .gov is reserved specifically for government websites. The .com domain name extension is the best by far, because it is the most widely used.
The .net extension is the second best, but be prepared most people will type .com before they will .net if they cannot remember which extension you use. The type of extension you use might also have a bearing on the type of website. Some people have come to expect certain things when a particular extension. For example, .org is typically used by not-for-profit organization and educational websites. The .info extensions are generally used for informational websites.
4.) Spelling Means Everything
Having a difficult to spell domain name could cause you some trouble. Again, many do not even make use of bookmarks; therefore, if your domain name is hard to spell, they may end up at a competitor's website.

A good domain name contains only words that are easy to pronounce, have a good combination of words or letters that are used in every day language, and does not contain foreign words that may be difficult to non-native speakers.
5.) Tells a Story
A good domain name should be descriptive and tell a story. In other words, when your visitors, customers, or potential customers see your domain name they should instantly be able to tell what they are going to find. For instance, if it is your business, a business name is good.
6.) Avoid Fancy Symbols
It is never a good idea to use numbers or hyphens within your domain name. Even if your domain name is memorable, many people will not pay attention to the symbols, which could lead them to someone else's website.
About the Author:
శ్రీనివాస్ కాటం,
ఇంటర్నెట్ మార్కెటింగ్ స్పెసిఅలిస్ట్.

An amazing story: From Rs 60,000 to Rs 435 crore!

Today Ma Foi Management Consultants is the largest HR services provider and staffing company in India, with a turnover of Rs 435 crore (Rs 4.35 billion).
Ma Foi has so far helped generate career opportunities for more than 169,000 people in 35 countries.
K Pandia Rajan started it in 1992 with a capital of just Rs 60,000. Research, Research, Research.
Before starting any new business, find a market that is going to be profitable. Sit down, identify some of your areas of interest. Use keyword research to get to know the desires of your potential customers. Get to know your market well, and limit your investment until you know it will be a success.
2. Stand out from the crowd.
Don't choose a market that is already saturated if you are just starting out. Chances of failing are higher, and this can be disheartening. Choose a market that you can easily dominate, with competition that is either poor or limited.
3. Information marketing.
If you are able to produce a simple book that fills a need, this is a lucrative method of making money. E-books require no ongoing production expenses and can be an almost 100% profit margin.
4. Persistence and Discipline.
Internet marketing requires commitment of time to sit down and do some work every day. It does not need to be for long, but you do need to do it. Nothing happens with big dreams but no action.
5. Be an Expert
Get to know you niche well. Use forums to gain a better understanding. Write lots of articles and begin to get your name branded as an expert in that field. Submit blogs and articles to directories to start to create traffic back to your site.
6. Try before you buy.
When using pay per click or other forms of advertising write multiple campaigns. Test these for response before committing money to this. Target buyers only. Lots of visitors or clicks do not mean sales conversions.
7. Learn to write good copy.
There are lots of great books and advice out there to write compelling copy for your product. It must be attention grabbing and able to maintain interest.
8. Capture emails
List building is essential. Without this you are unable to continue to contact your target market to advise them of you products, or more importantly what benefits they offer them. Also, providing good quality content emails with information and advice (no sales) builds trust.
9. Joint Venture
There is no better way to develop cross promotion and get other people working for you than to establish joint venture relationships. By offering a fair share of the profits to owners of websites or complimentary products, you can significantly increase your profits with very little additional effort.
10. Knowledge is power.
There are many ways to approach internet marketing, but to be successful you need to have good systems in place. Find an honest and well known mentor, and consider purchasing a good quality education program. If you are new, do your research well as there is lots of misinformation out there as well as fantastic programs.

Top 5 Tax saving Mutual Fund Schemes

Top 5 Tax saving Mutual Fund Schemes
Invest in these Schemes for best of Safety and Returns
Most of us have received emails from our HR/Admin asking us to submit the proof of Investments for the purpose of Tax Savings before a specified date and I am sure a lot of us are still in thinking mode as to where to invest for Tax savings. I had written a post last year (How to Invest for Tax Savings?) on the various avenues of tax savings and one more post on Top 5 tax saving funds. Well things have changed from last year in terms of stock market performance and it’s right time to review which tax saving or ELSS (Equity linked saving schemes) should we invest in. More Details: http://katamsrinivas.wordpress.com/2008/02/22/top-5-tax-saving-mutual-fund-schemes/

7 Social Networks where you can get Relevant Links

by: Esteban Panzera
When getting links, the most important thing is to get them on pages that are relevant to our website’s content. Sometimes it can be difficult to get this kind of links, so what we can do is generate new pages that are relevant to our website’s content and link from them to our site. This way we would be getting one way relevant links, but the problem is that the new pages wouldn’t have any authority, so what we can use is social networks to accomplish this task. Here I will show you 7 social networks where you can get relevant links:
Flickr
On Flickr, you can add links as a description of the images, and you can also add them to your profile page, but I would recommend the first option. To do this, you have to create an account at Flickr (or log in if you already have one) and go to Upload Photos, there you would have to pick the photo you would like to upload (this doesn’t matter, just make it public), and then choose a Title (your keywords here), and on the description you would have to add a link to your site using HTML.
Keywords on Title: YesKeywords between heading tags: YesAble to choose anchor text: YesDo-follow link: YesIn-Content Link: YesKeywords in URL: Yes
LinkedIn
On LinkedIn you just have to create a new account and fill the details using the keyword you want to rank for on First Name and Second Name fields. Both mixed should make the keyword you want to rank for. After that just go to the My Profile tab and click on add website, there click on other from the dropdown and choose the Title and URL you want for your link.
Keywords on Title: YesKeywords between heading tags: YesAble to choose anchor text: YesDo-follow link: YesIn-Content link: NoKeywords in URL: Yes
Stage6
On Stage6 we will be getting a link from our profile page, but you can also get one from Videos, the process is more or less the same. First we will create an account and as username we will use the keywords we want to rank for (if it is more than 1 separate them with an underscore “_”). After you have completed the account creation click on the edit profile button and enter your link and any text you may want to add to the about page (the link can’t be added using HTML, instead you will have to use this [http://www.urlhere.com Anchor Text Here]).
Keywords on Title: YesKeywords between heading tags: YesAble to choose anchor text: YesDo-follow link: YesIn-Content link: YesKeywords in URL: Yes
Del.icio.us
On Del.icio.us, the social bookmarking site, we have to create a new account using as username the keywords we want to target. Again, if it is more than 1 word we have to separate it using an underscore “_”. Then just click on the post link and enter the details for your link, use Description as Anchor Text.
Keywords on Title: YesKeywords between heading tags: YesAble to choose anchor text: YesDo-follow link: YesIn-Content Link: NoKeywords in URL: Yes
Squidoo
On Squidoo create a new account (or login if you already have one), and create a new lens. As title use the keywords you want to rank for and choose an URL using the keywords you want to target. Then on text list, just add some text with your link or just your link, you can add more information if you want to make the page richer. Finally click on publish.
Keywords on Title: YesKeywords between heading tags: YesAble to choose anchor text: YesDo-follow link: YesIn-Content Link: YesKeywords in URL: Yes
Mixx
On Mixx you will have to create a new account as you will be getting the link from your profile, use the keywords you are targeting as your nickname and once more separate them with an underscore “_”. After creating your account go to the Your account page and add your site’s URL on the “Have a website? What’s the URL?” field, click on submit and you are done.
Keywords on Title: YesKeywords between heading tags: YesAble to choose anchor text: NoDo-follow link: YesIn-Content Link: NoKeywords in URL: Yes
Reddit
On Reddit we will get a link from our profile page, so go and create a new account using the keywords you are targeting (remember the underscore “_” thing) and submit your website by clicking on the submit link. Add your website as if you were adding a normal bookmark, when you finish just click send.
Keywords on Title: YesKeywords between heading tags: NoAble to choose anchor text: YesDo-follow link: YesIn-Content Link: NoKeywords in URL: Yes
The best thing you can do to get the most out of this links would be registering a new domain and linking to all this profile pages using the keyword you are targeting as anchor text, you would then have to get some links to the new domain to get some authority to it.
Esteban Panzera writes about SEO and Social Media Marketing on his personal blog

How search Engines Connect Sellers and Buyers

Maggie knows how to find what she wants. She lets her fingers do the walking – not in the Yellow Pages, but at Google.com. She wants to learn about bread baking, and you have just written Bread Baking Made Simple, and you sell some great baking tools. The good news is the Google and other search engines exist for one simple reason: to help Maggie find your website.

Google will show Maggie 534,000 resources on "bread baking". Unless she fails to find what she wants on the first page, or top 10 results, she will never find your website listed 124th in the results. (Actually, if she does not find what she wants in the top twenty or thirty results, she is likely to refine her search to "easy bread baking" or "home bread baking").
How do you get into the top 10 results so Maggie can find your website? You might have heard a lot about "search engine optimization" and "ranking analysis" and "algorithms". It all sounds very complex, but it really works on a simple 1 – 2 – 3 principle.

1. A search engine will show Maggie only resources (websites) it has on record. So make sure to submit your site to the key search engines and directories. You do not need to hire somebody who will charge you big dollars to do this. Nor should you fall for any of the auto-submit software or services. This should be done by hand, and anybody can do it. You can do it yourself.
2. The search engine will rank highest those websites it feels are most "important". This means you have to show that your website is most important. There are a few simple things you can do. First, make sure you have content. Text content equals importance on the Internet. Links, both coming in and going out, are key. Connectivity equals importance on the Internet. Get listed in the major directories (DMOZ.com, Yahoo.com, Zeal.com, JoeAnt.com, etc.), as this also is a measure of importance.

3. The search engine will show Maggie the most "relevant" high-ranking resources. Google might rank http://TheHappyGuy.com relatively very high, but it is totally irrelevant to a search for bread baking. How does a search engine know which websites are most relevant for Maggie's search? By the number of times "bread baking" shows up in text on your web page. By the variety of ways it shows up on your page. By number web pages you link to and that link to you with the words "bread baking" included.

Are you ready to roll? Possibly. Some of this you can easily do yourself. But there are three places that are worth spending money to help all the Maggies out there find your website and your book.

The first is choosing the right keywords. It might look simple, but "bread baking" might not even be the best keyword phrase to focus on. It might be "easy bread baking" or "home bread baking". The most searched terms might not be the best, nor the term with the least competition.

The second is to prepare a link strategy. The "link exchange" pages that are getting more popular each day are also becoming less effective each day. Here are just a few of the linking factors that will affect whether Maggie discovers your book:

* The total number of incoming and outgoing links
* The importance of the sites you link to and from
* The relevancy of the sites you link to and from
* Which pages on their sites and on yours are being linked
* What you include in the incoming and outgoing links
* Where on the page the links are placed
* How many links are on those pages
* How many pages are linked to or have outgoing links
* The ratio of links to content on the pages involved

You can implement the strategy yourself, but it is worth hiring somebody to put it together for you. Ask the person what factors she would consider when building a strategy for you. If she does not mention several of the above, your money is better spent elsewhere.

Jalsa video song is here

Listen to Jalsa Songs, Free Download jalsa Songs, Free Download jalsa MP3 Songs, Free Download jalsa video Songs, Jalsa Songs Leaked, Download jalsa songs for FREE, High Quality jalsa songs, Jalsa Movie Songs download, Free Songs of Jalsa Movie. Liquidity will not be an issue," Chidambaram said.
Ahead to his visit to Davos for participating in the World Economic Forum, Chidambaram exuded confidence that investors would return to market as fundamentals of the economy were strong.
"Worries of western world should not be allowed to overwhelm us... our economy is very different from some economies of developed countries. Our economy is a strong economy and corporate sector is very strong," he said after the exchange authorities suspended trading within minutes after the bourses witnessed a sharp plunge.
Even after the market opened at 1100 hours, the sentiments were heavily toward sell and within an hour the BSE Sensex was reading down by over 2200 points.
To a query, Chidambaram said there is no ground for sentiments to be negative in the long run as fundamentals of Indian economy are strong.
"We will grow at nine per cent this year. Even Rangarajan Committee (Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council) has said we will grow at 8.5 per cent next year," the finance minister said.
Banks have reported that investments in the economy are running very high as the demand for credit is strong, he said.
"RBI has stated that investment in pipeline is also strong. Fundamentals (of the economy) are very sound. Corporate profits are high and corporate income tax is at an all-time high," he said.
When asked whether institutions would be advised to buy stocks at this moment, Chidambaram said: "We are not advising institutions to do this or that. Institutions are good judge of what are valuations today."
However, he said analysts and advisers have advised investors to stay calm. "I am sure investors will take informed and matured decisions and not give any room to unwarranted apprehensions and market rumours," he added.
In the morning, stock market suspended trading for an hour after the benchmark Sensex hit the lower circuit limit.
Source: http://www.rediff.com/money/2008/jan/22fm.htm

Upgrade your Google Analytics tracker

Google released a new version of its Google Analytics tracking code in December after a two-month limited beta. The new Google Analytics tracker is a complete rewrite of JavaScript inherited from the Urchin acquisition in 2005 and the first time the two products have been officially decoupled. The existing version of Google Analytics tracker, urchin.js, has been deprecated but should continue to function until the end of 2008. Google will only roll out new features on the new ga.js tracker. If you currently track website statistics using Google Analytics you should upgrade your templates to take advantage of the new libraries.

What changed?

The new Google Analytics tracker supports proper JavaScript namespacing and more intuitive configuration methods (e.g. _setDomainName instead of _udn). My tests show about a 100 ms faster execution even with a 24% increase (1514 bytes) in file size (ga.js is also minified).
The new tracking code makes advanced features a lot more accessible. You can now track a page on multiple Google Analytics accounts, which should help user generated content sites integrate their author's Google Analytics IDs alongside the company's own tracking account. The new event tracker lets you group a set of on-page related actions such as clicking a drop-down menu or typing a search query (very useful for widgets). Ecommerce tracking is now a lot more readable. You can read about all the tracker changes in the Google Analytics migration guide PDF.

Implementation
Switching your site tracker is pretty simple. Trackers are now created as objects and configured before the page is tracked.

That's it. You are now running the new Google Analytics tracker. You'll need to swap in your Analytics account and profile IDs, which should be pretty easy to spot in your existing code.

Summary

Google Analytics tracking code is completely rewritten for faster on-page behavior that plays well with others. The old tracker will be deprecated within a year, and new features are only available to users running the new code. Existing Google Analytics users should swap out their tracking code to take full advantage of this free stats tool.

Google gives better iPhone experience

Google's services will now be accessibly directly via the Safari Web Browser on Google's home page, instead of taking the older route of using special versions of Google Search, Gmail, Calendar and Reader among .........

Google's Android SDK Comes Alive

Google took several steps to goose interest in its yet-to-be-released Android platform for mobile phones today. The Open Handset Alliance, sponsored by Google and others, released a software development kit for Android. Google also hopes to stir up developer interest with a coding cook-off that will give out $10 million in awards.

Within hours of its release, the Android SDK had become "one of the most downloaded items ever" off Google's developer site, according to company spokesman Barry Schnitt. The toolkit, which included an emulator for software testing and a plugin for the Eclipse development tool, drew immediate reactions from developers ranging from "phenomenally cool" to "a bit disappointing".

The toolkit is licensed under the Apache 2.0 license, opening it up for wide repackaging with other developer tools. Google's Schnitt said that thus far there are no application tool partnerships to announce; however, the toolkit comes with an Eclipse plugin, so it is ready to integrate into many Java development environments.

http://www.internetnews.com/dev-news/article.php/3710656

Google Does it Right with Open Platforms

Google's vision of creating open platforms for both OpenSocial (using a single API) and Android (Open Handset Alliance) is absolutely genius. Not only does it help Google competitively but it also helps create a stronger user experience and a strong support community. Here are some of the major benefits to open platforms such as OpenSocial and Android:

User Experience: Allowing developers to design applications on top of your platform provides the ability for users to have unique experiences tailored specifically for them. From a mobile perspective there will now potentially be a thousand different versions of the same operating system each tweaked slightly so that it fits the owners needs. Furthermore it will allow people to share the coolest parts of their user experience across all networks.

Standardization: With numerous partners involved in both OpenSocial and Android, developers have a standardized way of creating applications for users without having to worry about platform. The standard platform also helps define documentation, procedures and application sharing.

Cost: Open platforms always tend to be far less expensive than mainstream/off the shelf products. With platforms such as Android in place, users will notice a cut in cost compared to hand helds operating systems like Windows Mobile and Palm OS.

Innovation: Giving developers the access to such powerful and flexible platforms will encourage increased innovation as they compete to develop the next killer application.

Support: Open Platforms (1 common base) equals Thousands of Developers which equals the amount of support available for applications and configuration that are built on top of the platform.
The one thing that might raise some concern is what will happen with the quality of products with the amount of applications that will likely be developed and the power completely in the hands of the users to install them. I would hate to see an uproar due to privacy or security concerns .
http://www.searchengineguide.com/manoj-jasra/google-does-it-right-with-open-platforms.php

10 Things That Sound Dirty On Halloween, But Aren't...

10 Things That Sound Dirty On Halloween, But Aren't...

1. First, the title plays a big role with search engines. And secondly, the title determines how much your article gets read and published.

Here's the secret: Be sure to include your key search phrases at the beginning of your title. If you put them at the end of the title, it will greatly reduce your search engine visibility. Here's why:

When you publish your article through an article distribution site, the title of your article will become the title of the actual web page. In other words, your article will become an individual web page within the article directory's website. And from a web coding standpoint, your article title is also the page's title.

How to Write an Enticing Title
I'm going to share an article writing secret with you. If you want to learn how to create titles that draw people into the article, pick up a copy of Reader's Digest. I don't subscribe to Reader's Digest, but I read the cover every time I'm in line at the grocery store.

Why? Because the Digest knows a thing or two about irresistible titles. In fact, the cover of each issue is nothing more than a list of article titles. And it's worth mentioning at this point that Reader's Digest is one of the best-selling publications on the planet! Pay particular attention to their "how to" titles and articles.

Tying it All Together
Combining all these factors is not as difficult as you might think. For example, let's say you want to focus on the phrase "business blogging" and your target audience is the corporate executive type. You could incorporate that key phrase into an enticing title in any number of ways:

The Basics of Business Blogging for Busy Executives
How to Get Started with Business Blogging
A Business Blogging Guide for the Computer Illiterate
Business Blogging 101 - Tips for First-Time Bloggers

Biggest mistakes with do it yourself SEO

I read and evaluate hundreds of websites a month. Some sites I read for information, some are my own, some are blogs, messageboards and so on. The rest are from people who request a free SEO site evaluation from my company. Some are from large corporations and others are from mid-sized companies, but almost 50% of the evaluations requested are from do-it-yourselfer's.

There is so much information available on SEO and SEM. Everywhere you turn there is another article on SEO. One thing I often notice is many people suffer from information overload. They try to read everything they can find and in many situations, they try everything they read. Some of that information is either outdated or ineffective. Some of these self SEO'ers simply don't use what they read effectively. I have taken some of the most common mistakes and listed will explain them for you here. Hopefully, this will help you correct any problems on your site.

Keyword research: Many people have no idea that it's even necessary. I have seen website owners attempt to optimize for key terms that do not even exist. One gentleman created a new product that no one has even heard of. The only marketing he was doing was SEO and some PPC. You can't optimize for the product name only when no one has ever heard of your product. If no one has heard of it, how will they search for it? They won't. The research needs to be done to determine what keyphrases people would type to find what your product is offering or related to.

Bad web design: This one really gets to me. This is one I see more than any other. People hiring a web design firm or DIYing it before fully understanding what SEO is. The way most strictly online businesses begin is by someone deciding that they want to create a website online. Then they have one built. Then they learn about how to promote it and how search engines are used. The problem there is, if their site is not SEO friendly (meaning clean urls, not in frames, not 100% Flash and other search engine indexing problems), it will hurt their ability to rank well. Many people don't find this out until after they have their site built. This can cost a new website owner a lot of money. Educated yourself. Do not rely on the web designer to tell you about SEO and what you need to know to have a SEO friendly site. Many web designers are just designers. They have no interest in what is SEO friendly or not. Do all your research before you have a site built and find a web design that can provide what you need for your site and the search engines.

Hidden text: This one still amazes me. That method hasn't worked since Ebert sat next to Siskel. Why do people still try these old methods? They read old articles, blog entrys or messageboards. They think doing things unnaturally will help them in the natural listings. If you don' know this yet, you do now. It doesn't work.

Repeating words too often: This one gets overlooked a lot. Let's say for example you sold tickets. Now let's say your menu is all HTML (links). Your menu may read something like this; Hockey tickets, Boxing tickets, Wrestling tickets and so on. Now if you have fifty events and you have tickets after every one, you could run into a lot of problems. Especially if you wanted to come up on the search engines on any phrase with the words tickets in it. There are a lot of other factors that would need to be considered as well, such as the length of content on the page, off site SEO, etc. If this was a typical site, it would hurt your rankings in the SERP's.

This is just a small portion of problems I see.
