For us here, the problem is that we can't easily get to a movie theater, so that's kind of a bummer. So far there have been nothing but raves about this movie, which makes us all the more excited to see it. The last time I actually went to a theater was to see a discount movie and that was so long ago. I can't wait to be free to do things again.

Nesting

It's funny how strong the instincts are sometimes. Lately I've been wanting to ready everything for the coming baby and I still have at least 3 more months to go! It's hard to not want to buy just about everything I see sometimes. I think I'm driving my husband nuts, and if I haven't yet, I soon will. LOL!

Drafty

No-No's window is super drafty in the winter. It's so bad that you can see her curtain billowing outward. The curtains I have in there aren't the greatest anyway and I'm considering getting some neat contemporary upholstery fabric and making our own. She has already requested pink ones, go figure lol. I can't wait until we move so we can have more space and the potential for things not to be old and outdated.

Gardening

I love gardening. Actually, I really like vegetable gardening. I've been known to start going at it as soon as the ground starts to get wet. Since I've moved I haven't put much thought into it because we are renting and there isn't a lot of space. I've considered getting a bunch of big pots but I'm not sure what kind of bugs are out here yet and the ones I'm familiar with aren't very appealing lol. I thought bonsai gardening would be fun years ago and tried my hand at it, and failed. So imagine how happy I was when I realized I could Order a Bonsai Tree. At least then I would have some greenery around me.

New Numbers

When we moved we considered a lot of things when it came to phones. We had thought about sticking strictly to our cell phones but that didn't seem like a good idea just in case something happened. In the end we decided to go with a vonage home phone service because it was the best for us. It's funny how as advanced as things become, you still end up going with what you've grown up with. In this case, the method has changed.

Ghostly

Even though I'm not as fair as far as skin tone goes, I'm starting to look a bit pale after being out here for the short time it's been. I'm not at all used to not having some sort of tan lines and the weather out here is one extreme or another. I've been thinking of doing some sort of sunless tanning but being pregnant, I really only can do spray types. So I started looking into the best sunless tanning spray products, and boy are there tons. I will probably have it professionally done since I don't want to turn out streaked in funny places, but I would love to have just a bit of color back.

It's a Boy!

I finally had an ultrasound done last week after much anticipation. It was so exciting to know that everything is okay and that we'll be having a boy! Well, maybe not so much on the gender yet. I think I was really hoping for another girl for the sake of hand-me-downs and the potential shopping lmao! Boy's things just aren't nearly as fun to shop for, but the change will be most welcome, I'm sure. My husband is happy knowing that there won't be another to outnumber him too lol! I can't wait to see how things will turn out, let alone have a baby again.

Sick Father

Content by Kyle Lowe

My father was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago, and we are all so worried about him. His oncologist says that he has the option to do chemotherapy or radiation, but he doesn’t want to. He thinks he is too old and he would rather just die in peace. He doesn’t realize how this will affect my sister and I, and we are very upset with him. I spend all day on my 4g internet trying to find articles and information that support my position that he should at least try to cure it. He is only 65 years old, and I don’t think that is so old he has to give up. He has always been active and healthy, and even though the cancer is advanced we think he has a shot at beating it. I hope that I can find a piece of literature to persuade him soon. I feel like every day he waits the cancer cells grow and take away a little more time we could have with him. If he doesn’t at least try to get better I’m not sure I can ever forgive him.

Portables

I think I finally want a media device, the only thing now is which one. I've considered getting an i pod touch but I'm still kind of torn between that and a Zune. I really like both and they both serve me the same purposes, but with the Touch I could be using Facetime and some other things not available to non-Apple products. It's often hard to ask people as well because there are so many that are partial to particular brands. I think I have more thinking to do lol.

Band Concerts

Something I miss doing is going to Yes-Yes' band concerts. Since high school, he's decided to stop band in order to make sure he had the proper amount of time for homework and other things. I understand but it was really nice to see him doing something constructive and productive that he enjoyed. It was really great seeing all the kids going around with their instruments and gear. There would be little short kids toting giant cases with an extra bag of accessories like Gard Gig Bags and other things. No-No really enjoyed listening to the music and seeing the kids on stage too. Hopefully she will care to do the same thing once she reaches that age.

Big Projects

Yes-Yes has a project due for school that involves creating his own statue or structure. I wish I could be back home to help out on this one but he has my handy ex-neighbor there helping him and I think it will be fine. They have been searching all over for industrial supply companies for parts. Thank goodness he has someone who is resourceful because that part would be driving me nutty lol.

Bon Jovi!

For some reason lately I've been listening to a lot of Bon Jovi. I'm not sure if it's the nostalgia of it or what. I do like the fact that their music is almost always upbeat and positive and I really could use a lot of that right now. Things here are going well but I'm still not where I'd like to be right now. I don't have the energy that I'd like to have because of the pregnancy and there are days where I can't sleep, do nothing but sleep, clean the whole house, or do nothing. Not knowing when each will be makes it really difficult to get anything done. Hopefully things will start getting better, soon.

House Hunting

We have recently started looking for a house. We aren't nearly ready to buy yet, but we thought it would be a good idea to start looking and get a feeling of what's out there. We had a laugh the other day when we started looking out of state and found some great real estate louisville ky because if we were to move out of here, east is not the way we really wanted to go. Both of us are from the west coast and the ultimate goal is to get ourselves back out that way, but for now being here will have to do.

Rummage Sale

I love going to yard sales and the like. There is always a ton of really interesting things that people have collected over the years to see. This last one that I went to had everything from new baby items to old chairs for church. Why a person would salvage things like that is beyond me but there always seems to be someone looking for anything lol. I was able to find a few odds and ends that I had been looking for that are no longer made. The best part is the prices that I paid, you really can't beat buying second-hand sometimes.

Penny Pincher

Contribution by Saul Martin

If you’d told me that once I “grew up” and moved out on my own I’d become a penny pincher, I would have laughed at you. When I was growing up and thought about living on my own, my thoughts usually involved visions of lavish parties and a never-ending stream of fun people coming through my apartment. Ha! The reality is that I can barely pay my bills, and I eat canned soup essentially every night. I’m saving up for a down payment on a house, so in the interim my life couldn’t be further from my childhood vision of what my life would be like. I know it will be worth it, so I’m trying to just focus on saving every penny I can right now. When I mentioned this to a friend and told her what areas I was cutting back in, she had a great suggestion. Evidently in Texas we have the option to select our own energy providers. We can simply choose the one that offers the best rates! She told me to check out this website and see which one offered the best deal for me. It couldn’t have been easier. I’m one step closer to my new house!

Fond Memories

Up until I was into my late teens we lived at my grandparents' house. It was a nice old house but by the time we were moving it was falling into disrepair. We had a great raised cement patio that I would do everything on in the back of the house and that's probably one of the things I miss the most. We had a table with an umbrella (because of unexpected wind we ended up having a couple sunbrella patio umbrellas), my grandpa's BBQ, my pool during the summers, and planters filled with different flowers and plants. It was like my own little area to do whatever as I grew up, I'll always miss that spot.

Just Married...Sort of

I'm happy to announce that I finally got married last Tuesday! It's pretty exciting for me considering that I had thought I would NEVER get married lol. It wasn't anything big, just some little thing at the courthouse with all the necessary people present. We decided to take the girls out of school that day and they were quite excited to go shopping and get matching purple dresses and new fancy shoes. It was kind of disappointing for me since I don't have anyone I know here that could be there with me, but it was still nice all the same. Now it's just a matter of getting my name changed on everything, that's really the fun part lol!

Mini-Sized

No-No has been wanting to play an instrument for a long time but being that she's small, it's hard to find things that she likes that are also her size. So, instead I had gift baskets delivered in New York City to his home and workplace. Everyone who had one had those little curly antennas stuck to their cars. I remember him being worried someone would steal the thing and he'd take it out for longer trips and carry it around with him lol. My stepdad was brave enough to get a cell phone. It was huge and bulky and I have no idea where people even put those things. When I used to have to walk home at night alone, I would take it with me for protection just from the sheer weight of the thing LOL! It's amazing how we've progressed from cars and bulky bricks to cellular boosters and smart phones. The thing that isn't so good for him is that he often gets debilitating migraines and can't function at all, only made worse by the pressure while flying. This last trip was pretty good for him though, he had to go to Texas and was able to locate a Dallas migraine center or specialty place and got some treatment while he was there. Hopefully that will help make things a little easier for him, I know he doesn't want to slow down anymore than he has to and the migraines just made things that much slower for a fast-paced person.

Almost Back

I have been going through a lot of health issues lately, mostly because right now I have no immune system at all. I'm always run down and can't find the energy to do a lot of things and always end up needing to take a break every few minutes. My stepdaughter brought home a cold of some sort and of course I ended up with it, as did her dad and possibly now No-No. I'm wanting to bet that it's coming back around the house now that we're all almost over it and she seems to just be getting it. I definitely got it the worst though. It took about a week to come on fully and since then I've hardly been able to move. I'm finally starting to get a little better and was able to catch up on a lot of things today, most of which needs to be finished tomorrow lol. Oh well, at least I'm sort of getting back to my normal self.

Computer Kids

I never really thought that my kids would be playing with computers at the age they are, let alone owning one. I've come to realize that it would be a really good idea considering how our lives have changed recently. Having everything in one spot and being able to travel lighter with it would be amazing. No-No wouldn't be scratching up all of her DVDs anymore and she would be able to play the games that she loves too. We had wanted to get them new tablets for Christmas but the prices didn't work with our budgets then. Now there is a new blackberry tablet that does a lot of awesome for a lower price. I'm really excited but I'm also grateful that they are willing to drive out here so they can bring me some more of my things. Now that I will be needing a bunch of the baby things I left behind, it's a welcome gift. I'm not sure how they plan to transport themselves and my stuff yet. I know they were looking into renting an RV but I'm not sure what the cost would be without getting an rv insurance quote. I think that would probably be the most comfortable way for them to travel though.

Vactions

I never really realized how many of my mid-west friends vacationed in the Carolinas until I moved here. One of my very close friends is looking for southern shores real estate so that she can have a vacation home there. I have never been there or anywhere in those states and think the trip would be interesting. I'm so used to spending my vacations in Tahoe or some other part of CA that going other places would be a welcome excursion.
