North Myrtle Beach, SC -- First District Congressional Candidates Katherine Jenerette’s response to recent questions from the media.

Q1) What do you think most separates you from your eight primary opponents? What sets you apart?

Answer: When you mix motherhood, a USC education with an army paratrooper and years of experience in Local State and Federal government in South Carolina you could end up with a Congressman who is more than just a pretty face in a skirt and high heels on C-span. That’s pretty different.

Q2) Specifically, what would be the first two or three things you would do in your first year in office, if elected?

Answer: The first two or three things I intend to do is a list of about two-dozen things starting with the Economy and Jobs and a lot in-between. I don’t have to tell the people what our problems are in South Carolina – they know it, we’re almost broke from too many taxes and a lot of people are plain scared of losing the jobs they have and the answer isn’t in Washington except to get the Federal government red-tape-bureaucracy as far away from small businesses and stop taxing peoples hard earned money.

Second, we have to get our National Security Agenda on track and that starts with securing our borders because if we can send unmanned aircraft drones thousands of miles away to take out targets in Afghanistan we can certainly build a fence along our border with Mexico. Arizona is on the right track and the Federal Governments policies on borders, visas and immigration is screwed up.

Third, I intend to reintroduce my fellow Congressman – especially Speaker Nancy Pelosi – to the U.S. Constitution, and I figure after a while even Pelosi will get tired of me whistling Dixie to her and learn something about us Carolina girls ability to stand our ground up-close and personal.

Q3) What do you consider your single most important experience that has prepared you to serve in Congress?

Answer: I’d say the single most important thing was my years as a U.S. Congressional Field Representative for the First District which gave me a ton of experiences about our needs and the needs of the average person in the district. That experience shaped my principles: As a congressman I won't just be representing the right, left or either extreme or the people in the middle – I will represent all the people of my district and that includes the richest businessmen and it includes single-moms with kids who are trying to get them through school to educate them and the ordinary people like me who go to work and pay their taxes and wished their government wasn't so dang big.

Government is supposed to be about people. I've always thought that the bigger the government, the smaller the individual – and that one small voice is always important, because when we lose that, we lose what the American dream is all about.

Q4) What do you feel has been the most overlooked issue in this campaign?

Answer: I think that when fifty percent of your jobs and working people are involved with the Tourism Economy which I call “Industry without Smoke Stacks’ I figure that issue should be up there on the list with the Ports of Georgetown and Charleston harbors. I felt that issue was overlooked and it needs to be part of the conversation – it only came up in the context of the Louisiana Oil Spill and like it on not, tourism is what we do best: Carolina Sun, Sand and Food and Charleston hospitality is who we are.

SUBJECT: South Carolina 1st Congressional Candidates Team up to Denounce Defense Department Re-Appropriation

North Myrtle Beach, SC -- GOP First District Congressional Candidates Tim Scott and Katherine Jenerette teamed up on Wednesday to decry the federal government’s decision to siphon millions of dollars away from the Department of Defense budget to erect a monument to Ted Kennedy in Boston, Massachusetts.

“I don’t know of any Taxpayer Paid shrine or mausoleum to any politician in Massachusetts or South Carolina that can stop an RPG or IED or an AK-47 round in Iraq or Afghanistan ,” said Jenerette a veteran of the Persian Gulf War and a former U.S. Congressional Aide. “But if that $20 million can help save one single American soldier’s life downrange in Iraq or Afghanistan, it’s worth it to keep it in the U.S. Defense Department budget and not siphon it off for the Sainthood of Ted Kennedy or anyone else.”

At least $19 million has been siphoned from the U.S. Defense Department budget to pay for the Kennedy shrine, which could ultimately end up costing taxpayers as much as $80 million.

“Our magnificent military is being stretched by 2 wars right now. The Pentagon, just today, requested another $33 billion towards the efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Wasting tax dollars is bad enough, but weakening our military in the process is absolutely inexcusable,” Scott said. “When the people of this country told Congress that it was time to start prioritizing spending – this is just the opposite of what they had in mind.”

“On matters like this Tim Scott and I see eye-to-eye,” said Jenerette, an Army Paratrooper and Officer in the U.S. Army Reserve. “We already know Washington D.C. is full of political con-artists who can pull money out of one taxpayer’s pocket and stick it into another pocket without blinking an eye; so anytime we can highlight examples of ‘Pork-Gone-Wild’ in Congress I’ll be glad to work with Tim or any other member of our legislative delegation.”

Run, Benjamin, Run

2010-04-18T20:37:00.000-07:00

First, a big congratulations goes out to Benjamin Jenerette for performing nothing short of a STELLAR achievement at the Horry County Track and Field Championship. This is the FIRST year since 2008 that Benjamin did not dominate and take first place in the long distance events. She was barely beat and took a second place. Now that's what I call talent. Benjamin is one of the nations top young runners and there is no denying that there are many more great accomplishments in this diligent girl to come.

"Last year, Jenerette swept the 800 meter, the 1,600 meter and the 3,200 meter individual races. This year, Jenerette, an eighth-grader, won the two longer races, but she was edged out in the 800 by Carolina Forest's Nia Payne." - The Sun News

DownWithTyranny Gives Another Shout Out to Jenerette

2010-04-18T20:27:00.000-07:00

DownWithTyranny gives another shout out to Katherine Jenerette. There is no secret that DownWithTyranny is a left leaning blog, but a special thanks is in order for the writer of this blog. Even though Katherine and Mr. Klein may not agree on most political issues, he certainly knows a true fighter when he sees one. DownWithTyranny knows the real deal when it comes along and that most definitely is Mrs. Jenerette. There aren't to many people out there who can get a reaction and support from the left, especially being a Constitutional Conservative like Katherine is. KUDOS TO DOWNWITHTYRANNY! Keep up the fantastic work and enjoy the blog post. You visit DownWithTyranny by going here and the link to the most recent blog post about Katherine Jenerette.

"How could that not make me think of Katherine? As you may know, she's the teabagger candidate in the Republican primary for South Carolina's open First District, most of the state's lovely coast other than Beaufort County. And now it's her turn, having just returned from the teabaggy anti-tax protest in Charleston"

Jenerette Speaks at TEA Party Event

2010-04-18T20:16:00.000-07:00

I have attached some video of Katherine speaking at recent TEA Party event located in the Myrtle Beach Are of South Carolina... Please enjoy :)

“Most Politicians never met a dollar they didn’t like; once that dollar leaves your pocket you probably will never see it again.

Even though I don’t consider P.O.R.K a four letter word, as in ‘PORK for our District of South Carolina’ I draw the line with a basic set of principles:

ONE, on the other sid...e of every dollar I vote to spend as a Congressman there is a hardworking taxpayer or business struggling in a difficult economy.

TWO, Article I Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution is explicit on what the Federal Government can do with your money and if it’s not there I’m voting against it.

THREE, I intend to introduce legislation to repeal the 16th Amendment that started the Federal Income Tax in 1913. Somehow, our country managed to survive without a personal income tax for 137 years.

Finally, earmarks are the part of the pig that makes political pork more obscene as it is passed from Congressman to Congressman. Earmarks must be in the spotlight and read out loud word-by-word and clearly state who benefits from that earmark and who is hung out to dry with their pockets picked.

Fiscal responsibility for Congress is simple, if you want to have responsibility keep as much of your money at home and don’t expect some politician to babysit your dollars.” - Katherine Jenerette

Katherine Jenerette for Congress, First U.S. Congressional District, South Carolina
Web Site: http://www.jenerette.com Photos and bio: http://www.jenerette.com/2010_bio

North Myrtle Beach, SC -- A major national organization, Warriors for Congress, http://www.warriorsforcongress.com/ that’s supporting a select group of only eight combat veterans nationwide running for Congress, has announced that they are endorsing North Myrtle Beach’s Katherine Jenerette in her bid to become the U.S. Congressman for the 1st Congressional District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Jenerette is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War Operation Desert Storm and is still serving as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve and an Army Paratrooper assigned to Ft. Bragg.

Jenerette was named last week by Melanie Morgan, a nationally known radio host, TV personality, and fundraiser for pro-military causes, who is the Chairman of Warriors of Congress. Previously, Morgan co-founded Move America Forward, the nation’s largest grassroots, pro-troops nonprofit.

Morgan said, “Katherine Jenerette is a role model for American women and all members and veterans of the military. She’s the first female paratrooper ever to run for Congress, and she’s truly exemplary in her commitment to conservative values, the Constitution, and to our country.”
Katherine Jenerette said: “I’m more than humbled to receive the endorsement of living patriots and legends like Melanie Morgan and Catherine Moy and a superb organization like Warriors for Congress. Their national support will help me get my message across to the voters of South Carolina’s 1st District which in turn will help us to bring a constitutional voice with aggressive dedicated fighters into Washington, D.C. I’m more convinced than ever that I can win this important congressional race.”

“My principles are simple, as a congressman,” Jenerette continued. “I won't just be representing the right, left or either extreme or the people in the middle – I represent all the people as clearly stated in the Constitution of the United States of America.”

“I view myself as a strict Constitutionalist. But, I will never forget that I serve the people of my district and that includes the richest businessmen in the district and it includes single-moms with kids who are trying to get them through school to educate them and the ordinary people like me who go to work and pay their taxes and wished their government wasn't so darn big.”

“I've always thought that the bigger the government, the smaller the individual – and that one small voice is important because when we lose that, we lose what the American dream is all about.” Katherine has served as a U.S. Congressional Field Representative for the First District and as a North Myrtle Beach Planning Commissioner and is an advocate of numerous Coastal Caronia Initiatives and economic Development plans.

Warriors for Congress’ Mission Statement outlines the principles Jenerette pledged to adhere to: “Warriors for Congress will vet candidates, interview them, and ensure that they want to stop deficit spending; refuse to increase the weight of the government on our citizens; stand ready to protect American citizens and America’s security anywhere in the world; fight tax increases; refuse to vote for or enact any law that does not also apply to Congressional members; and understand explicitly that, if elected, they work for the citizens, not the other way around.”

Through its political action committee, Warriors for Congress will provide financial assistance to Jenerette’s campaign. Its web site, http://www.warriorsforcongress.com/ will publicize Jenerette’s candidacy and encourage Americans to volunteer in her support.

Katherine has a degree from Coastal Carolina University and holds a Master’s Degree from the University of South Carolina, Columbia. As a track and field and cross country athlete at CCU, Katherine received NCAA Big South Conference honors. "

O'Donnell, Jenerette, and Burns by Steve Maloney

2010-04-07T12:20:00.000-07:00

The following is great post from my good friend Steven Maloney (SteveMaloneyGOP)

"Who's the "Sarah Palin of the East?" According to popular blogger Mark Levin Fan, it's Christine O'Donnell, conservative candidate for the U.S. Senate in Delaware. My friend Christine is a remarkable young woman, pro-life and pro-Constitution, and any state would be proud to have as its Senator.

And the "Sarah Palin of the South," another friend, Katherine Jenerette, has a blogger fan, the talented Chantel Zandi, at www.sarahpalinofthesouth.blogspot.com. Katherine is pro-life, pro-Constitution, and the first female paratrooper ever to run for Congress.

. . . and Sarah, please also endorse Tim Burns, Republican candidate for the old "Murtha seat" in PA's 12th congressional district. A Burns victory in the special election on May 18 could herald a cascade of defeats for liberals in November of this year. No one has ever confused Tim's looks with those of Sarah Palin, but he agrees with her on every critical issue.

These contests are critical to the future of our country. I hope Gov. Palin will step forward as she has before and back these fine candidates to the hilt.

Sarah, Katherine Jenerette, running for Congress in SC's 1st district is a pro-life, pro-gun, pro-Constitution, pro-Tea Party conservative, and the same characteristics are true of Christine O'Donnell, U.S. Senate candidate running for the old "Biden seat" in Delaware. Tim Burns takes the same stands on all key issues.

These are outstanding individuals who face uphill battles, but have very good chances of winning. They are proving to be very skilled at running quickly uphill. The mountaintop is in sight for all of them. All of them need to remember the old spiritual, "Go Tell It On The Mountain." With our help, they will win.

Sarah, an endorsement from you could make a big difference for Christine, Katherine, and Tim. It would help them raise money, which they must do to win, and it would activate your huge army of supporters behind them. They will all make you proud.

More to follow in the days ahead about Christine, Tim, and Katherine. Please check out their web sites." - Steven Maloney

The Sarah Palin Effect: Conservative Women

by Steve Maloney

"After I noted SC congressional candidate Katherine Jenerette "the Sarah Palin of the South" and Delaware Senatorial candidate Christine O'Donnell "the Sarah Palin of the East, a friend in Kansas said I'd missed the "Plain State Palin," Kansan Patricia Lightner. I admit conservative Lightner belongs in the group. She's in the photo with a great conservative, Steve King of Iowa.

Hey, everybody, Christine's web site is almost (close) to being 100%. Please go visit it, sign up for e-mail updates and make a donation if your circumstances allow.

Let's elect these fine women to the federal offices they're seeking." - Steve Maloney

Jenerette Stands Her Ground by Steve Maloney

2010-04-01T18:26:00.000-07:00

A great article from my friend Steve Maloney on Katherine Jenerette

Katherine Jenerette: Stands Her Ground

by Steve MaloneyGOP

Please visit SteveMaloneyGOP's Blog Here

"Conservative Katherine Jenerette is running for Congress in South Carolina's beautiful 1st congressional district, stretching from historic Charleston through Myrtle Beach to the North Carolina state line. Katherine, my friend, may be the very best person running for Congress in America.

A student of history and an expert on the U.S. Constitution (the one Obama, Pelosi, and Reid ignore), Katherine is the first female paratrooper ever to run for Congress. Katherine has made 15 jumps. She' s currently an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve. In her college days, she was a world-class long distance runner, and her daughter "Benji" is following in mom's footsteps.

With her fellow paratroopers, Katherine does indeed stand her ground. Paratroopers aren't "good" at retreating, at surrendering, or at running away. In 2004, Katherine ran her first political race -- against "Dickie" Elliott, a career politician and lavishly financed state Senator. Dickie spent $250,000 on the race; Katherine spent $26,000. Dickie won . . . in a race so close that the final results weren't known for days.

A top South Carolina political blog said the other day that "Katherine continues to exceed expectations." In fact, her expectations -- and mine -- are that she will win this race against some of the biggest names in Carolina politics. She may be the greatest "old-style" candidate in the modern history of the South. She presses the flesh constantly. She is relentless.

And yes, folks, she needs our help . . . our donations. She can't help us take back our America unless we help her get elected. The ultimate "Tea Party" candidate, Katherine doesn't have a horde of rich backers. Instead, she has us . . . the American people.

Katherine, my friend and my woman warrior, we -- the conservatives of America -- will "stand our ground" . . . with you. You know, and we know, that winning is an act of will, and in a good sense, you are the most will-full person I know. You go, gal." - Steve Maloney

TheForgottenStreet Endorses Jenerette

2010-03-30T20:11:00.000-07:00

TheForgottenStreet have come out publicly and endorses Katherine Jenerette, Christine O'Donnell, and Marco Rubio.

"Just up the road in South Carolina, a dynamic, conservative Gulf War veteran, a woman whose background as a paratrooper will serve her well, is making a race out of it in the Republican bid for the First Congressional District in the Palmetto State. Katherine Jenerette offers voters a true fiscal conservative with solid American values.

I’ve had the pleasure of talking with her about the issues we face in our nation. I found her intelligent, informed and impassioned. I can assure you that she will bring a fresh voice to the halls of Congress to fight the socialist dreams of Nancy Pelosi and her band of thieves. Please learn more about Katherine at www.jenerette.com"

Doesn't Everyone Have Favorite TEA Party Candidate?

2010-03-26T08:47:00.000-07:00

KUDOS to the Liberal blog, DownWithTyranny!

"It isn't only progressive heroes like Doug Tudor, Alan Grayson, Connie Saltonstall and Bill Hedrick who have been sharing their thoughts on healthcare with us. You must know about my affinity with the Sarah Palin of the Confederacy, South Carolina congressional candidate Katherine Jenerette. She's fascinating, and I'm rooting for her to bring the Old South Crazy to new heights and give Virginia Foxx, Michelle Bachmann and Mean Jean a run for their money.

Predictably, Katherine wasn't jumping up and down over the Republican Party debacle of Sunday night, and she's not exactly a fan of effective healthcare reform. But she sure did send out one of the most entertaining press releases on the subject that I've seen. Sit back and try to get into it. This one makes Randy Neugebauer and Joe Wilson seem blasé" - DownWithTyranny

Federalized Health Care Passage: Saint Vitus Dance for Republicans

2010-03-22T19:54:00.000-07:00

Katherine Jenerette Press Release

Round One of the Socialized Federalized Medicine-Man fight is over.

As soon as President Obama signs on the dotted line, Round Two will be initiated with a herd of raging bull Attorneys General (AG) from around the country; all in a charge at the red cape of the constitutionality of congress to mandate the purchase of health insurance by individual citizens.

It’s a set up guys. Obama and his brain trust are out in front on this one. They put the ‘thou-shalt-purchase’ clause in the bill deliberately knowing every freedom-loving, red-blooded Republican AG would charge. They intend to have the Republican’s object to this in bit-and-pieces instead of a full frontal attack that the ENTIRE Bill is unconstitutional.

We Republicans bit the bait real good, but, it was a Trojans horse covered with shiny stuff like the abortion debate; deliberately set to get our attention. While all along, ‘Obamanistas’ fully expect that the Supreme Court will strike down the parts that mandate a person will buy insurance or they will pay through the nose to BigFed one way or another. There are bigger problems ahead, so save some ammo.

We had a saying when I was in the desert in the first Gulf War, ‘It’s not just the mouse that ran through the tent you need to worry about – it’s the viper that’s chasing the mouse you better be afraid of.’

When the Supreme Court decision is finally made – with the anticipated ruling, the bumper sticker “I Heart Socialized Medicine” liberal crowd will pull out the already prepared Round Three plan: Public Option in tandem with the Federal Government picking up the tab incrementally to offset the loss.

“But, what else can we do? We can’t leave people without health care can we?” Liberals will sob as the complete implementation of socialized; taxpayer health care is implemented with Under New Management Federal Clinic signs being put up over the old Mayo Clinic signs, and hospitals across the country, et.al.

It’s part of the plan. For example, do you believe that Obama just wrote that Executive Order about Federal Funding of Abortions in the eleventh hour before the vote? That thing was written months ago and held to the last minute to make it look like some kind of ‘real’ concession to the hold-outs.

The liberal guys are not some lightweights. They have a plan while we Republicans do a Saint Vitus Dance jerking around the details and nickel-and-diming our attacks that should have been coordinated years ago. It’s not like the Democrats didn’t start this with Clinton Care in the early 1990s.

Anyway, it’s critical that we need to understand their game and focus on a way to repeal this bill and counter it with workable market approaches to health care with the doctors providing that care and the patients at the center of gravity:

(1) States should implement; as difficult as it is, meaningful health care reform for its citizens at the appropriate level of government. Health Care is a real problem.

(2) States should intervene and represent any citizens of their state that the Federal Government decides to fine for failure to purchase insurance.

(3) States should facilitate competition in health care providers and health care facilities, and increase the number of students entering medical and nursing schools.

(4) Republicans better send ‘Constitutional Gun-Fighters’ and thinkers to Congress.

(5) States should band together – repeal the 17th Amendment, and take their Senators back. This action will give the states a place at the table in Washington and put teeth into State Sovereignty again.

If we thought the nightmare of the Federal ‘No Child Left Behind’ program was hard to deal with, just wait for General Hospital USA. Hold your ears and don’t dance to the liberal’s song.

Shamrock Invitational Track and Field Meet

This weekend Benjamin Jenerette, one of Katherine's daughters will be participating in Shamrock Invitational Track and Field meet. She will be competing in two events, the 1500m and 800m. Coastal Carolina University will be hosting the invitational. I would like to wish Benjamin the best of luck in both of the events she will be participating in. I would also like to mention that Benjamin is only 13 years old, competing against collegiate level athletes. In November 2009, Benjamin was named to South Carolina's All State Team and was also recognized as one of the National Elites National Silver Standard Runners after competing in the 2009 State Cross Country Championship meet at Sand Hills Research Center, Columbia. It seems that young Benjamin is running her way into her mother's footsteps with a stellar track record, Katherine was honored as NCAA "Big South" conference runner in 1994 while attending Coastal Carolina University.

"She is ranked 1st in five Outdoor Track events in South Carolina for her class and is 12th in the Nation USATF Youth. Benjamin is listed in the MileSplit 2009 United States Outdoor Track & Field 1500m Rankings as third for her class in the Nation." -Jenerette.com

Miracle Baby

Katherine explains her pro-life stance eloquently and passionately,

February 10, 2010

When is the right time to talk about the very personnel side of the abortion issue? And what is the proper forum? I’m not sure.

Abortion is a very personal thing – for two very real human beings; a mother and her child.

To me, the Focus on the Family ad featuring former Florida Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow and his mother is more than just an ad – it gives a voice to the other side of the abortion issue that is usually silent.
This is my story.

We have always called my daughter Benjamin, who was just named the Sun News ‘Toast of the Coast – Runner of the Year’ for High School Girls Cross Country our miracle baby.

(See Benjamin: http://www.thesunnews.com/2010/01/28/1285023/improving-with-age.html)

Anyway, when I was well into my pregnancy with Benji – I was told us that there were serious development problems and that if I tried to carry the baby to term it could endanger my life.

I was a student at Coastal Carolina University-USC and had already been named to the NCAA Track & Field Big South Conference in 1994 and had stopped my training for the Boston Marathon right after I found out I was pregnant.

Any woman who heard what the doctor told me knows how those words cut right to the bottom of everything. You never forget that day. At the time I had a two year old son, Christian.

I’m not saying I was brave or even principled or even smart; I just know that I couldn’t go ahead with what the doctor strongly recommended. I was a mom – and my baby was my baby.

Week-by-week then day-by-day until the morning Benjamin was born I prayed and I promised things and I was very scared. It wasn’t the last time – I now have four children.

But, after all of these years I know that I would have to do it that same way all over again – and it wouldn’t matter if Benjamin was Runner of the Year or just a teenage girl doing math homework in after school detention – she was and always will be my baby. And that’s how I saw her from the moment she was alive inside of me.

Like I said, I’m not sure when and where the right time to talk about abortion is.

Here is what I do know; all four of my children are miracle babies.

Every baby is a miracle baby.
