Kathy, good post. What I never thought I’d be doing (because it wasn’t possible) is publishing ebooks and POD books. So much has changed since my first book, written on a typewriter, was published in 1980.

There’s so much new technology — who would ever have dreamed of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, blogging and all the other new inventions. 25 years ago, I thought I’d be doing the same writing things for a long time. I wouldn’t dare to try and predict even five years ahead, now.

Moving overseas added to my list of reasons for leaving behind much of freelance career. I got tired of the black hole of pitching and chasing payment. I still work for longtime clients put I no longer pitch. Meanwhile, I enjoy blogging and hope to turn to books. In the meantime I’ll also getting my teaching license. In five years I’d like to be columnist/blogger and book author. Great post.

Helena, good point about closing screens to help ensure you truly focus on the task at hand. I do that as well — including keeping my iPhone at more than arm’s length!

Hi Kathy! Great tip! I also love working on chunks of time. I feel it’s a good compromise between work and “fun” time. I have to close my screens of “fun” and then I focus really well. I only open them back by the end of the day or when I’m done with my tasks!
Keep bringing more of this to us.
