We are always waving to each other in passing and often pass them running when we are out running! Their little girl is near Emma’s age and their little boy it just so cute and cuddly!

We decided that a mini-session would be perfect for what they wanted. It is amazing how many great pictures you can get in just a few minutes when the children are happy. I did this set of mini-sessions over at a little park here in Redding that I have discovered. It is a beautiful location and perfect for outdoor pictures! Luke Joshua entered the world on Sept. 18th and is the newest addition to our Watkins clan. This little guy barely waited for his parents to get to the hospital before making his grand entrance. We were so excited that we were able to meet him the very next day!! Luke is a very happy baby and his brother and sister are thrilled with him! Skylar loves to mother him and Henry smothers him with love! My little Emma thinks that every baby we see is Baby Luke!

They recently moved to Maui last year for a trial run of living on the island and have decided to make it permanent. I am ok with that as I know have a great excuse to go to Maui every year or so! Jessica and I have been friends since our early teens. We have remained close through boys, weddings, pregnancy’s, babies, moves and many life changes. She is my “partner in crime” and I love hanging out with her. It is a little different these days with husbands and kids in tow but still worth the effort to have such a faithful and dear friend in my life.

Jessica asked if I could do a family session for them while I was there. Of course I was excited to have such a beautiful and different place to shoot a family session! It’s not everyday that I get to do a session on a beach in Hawaii, although I would love too! So if you want family pictures done in Hawaii I have a place to stay!

We choose to do the session at the beach just across the street from their home. Jessica and I, of course, got back from our day in the upcountry late so they were all scrabbling to get dressed before we ran out of light. I think that is pretty typical of all family sessions though!

It was beautiful lighting and a beautiful location. We had to share the location with a few other’s including a couple that was getting married in the background. I think we did pretty well for all the distractions! I could shoot in this kind of yummy light and location all the time!!
